Select mock location app stuck - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all you nexus 6 experts!
I am experiencing a weird bug for selecting the mock location app under developer settings. Currently I have three different apps installed - FakeGPS, Lockito and Go Walking Fake GPS Location.
Now, after I set one of the apps as the mock location provider, I can no longer select any other one. I can only choose "None" from the list or the initial selection. e.g. currently I can only set FakeGPS or "none" for the setting. After I uninstall the "stuck" app I can again choose a different one - but then the setting gets stuck on this one.
I am on a Nexus 6 with the July build of Marshmallow (6.0.1 MOB30O). It's running the stock ROM with franco.Kernel and root.
Anybody experienced something like this and has a solution?
Is there a way to edit this setting somewhere directly in a config file?

Same issue. Wondering if its a FakeGPS thing. PokeMon right!

I'm having exactly the same problem on Xperia Z2 (6.0.1). Any solution so far?

Okay Poke's... Figured out the issue. No doubt we all downloaded FakeGPS and moved it to /system right?
After moving FakeGPS back to /data (normal app) I can select other mock location apps (Pokemon GO Joystick).
You can do this with "/system/app mover" available in the Google Play store. Just enable "Show system apps" and scroll down to the app you want to move back to /data (FakeGPS). Then reboot and you should be good

Actually, I haven't moved my app to the system partition since Google's partitioning for stock images leaves little space to do anything with \system. Anyways - a Redditor pointed out one thing to me: even if the setting is not updating on the UI-side, it is actually updating properly on the backend. Basically, just select any other mock location app and it will work fine even though something else is being displayed. I was sceptical at first since some of my apps were crashing before and I interpreted that as a sign of a jumbled setting but now everything works fine.

That's true, i just realized it. To confirm this, when i open fakegps if i didn't select it as mock location app it tells me to do so and when i select it that message disappears even though the "select mock location app" section shows another app as selected. It seems to be just a UI problem.

edit.

guys my nexus 6 shows 2 location on the map. My current location and the mock location. How do i remove my current location and only allow the mock location to be active?

You might need to disable the Fused Location service.
And change the location settings to phone only. Also turn off Wi-Fi scanning if connected or around known hotspots/networks.

Or...enjoy the summer and actually walk around town like you're supposed to?

I'm actually having the same issue with the "stuck mock location app". I tried to remove those apps and I still cannot select the app I want to, in this case, Fly Gps.

[Q] Latitude Doesn't Update

Hey all,
For some reason my location in Latitude doesn't update in the background unless I go into the app. I've got it set to update automatically.
Any ideas?

Mine was working for a few weeks then just stopped. Not sure if it's because I'm usually only running on 2G? (since Froyo 3G is unreliable in the house).
I nearly always have a 3G connection. It can't be that for me, surely.
Bumping for sweet justice
Does anyone have any idea why Latitude won't automatically update my location unless I launch the app?
Two things:
Have you checked your latitude security/privacy settings in the menu? You need to have that set to update in the background.
Also, enable the google latitude location history http://www.google.com/latitude/apps and check, i have found that my phone reports in the maps app as if it had not been updating but it in fact had. It just does not refresh the icon in maps when it does that.
If not those two items, then I do not know what.
Thanks snlu178,
I had enabled background updating. I've managed to see my location history now that's it's built up (you don't get to see it right after signing up) and I can see that it's updating in the background. Thanks a lot for the advice.

I had the same problem and I just cleared all Maps data from the Applications menu in Settings, and made sure I tapped Join Latitude instead of just enabling the Latitude layer.

Oh, just tried that, lets see how it goes
Remember it only uses cell tower location while in the background, not true gps satellites. So you won't see your location move in real time, it will only update once every 10 minutes or so.

how to enable FULL-auto update play store apps, including manually-updated apps?

i've been searching around for answers. there are a lot of questions similar to mine, yet no one conclusive and simple answer.
i want to achieve two things :
1. for those with auto updates, i want them to just install directly without me having to click update at all.
2. for those that require manual update, why can't they install automatically even though i've already checked "enable auto updates"? I want these to be automatically available too.
some might say i would want to review the changes before updating it. for my case, i don't really case - i prefer to stick to the latest version, even if there's bugs/new quirks etc.
thanks!
Tick "allow automatic updating" for all the installed apps in palystore
And then go to playstore settings>auto update apps
hi,
somehow it doesn't work for certain apps even if i check auto-update. for instance, ASTRO file manager always gets updated manually instead of auto.
any idea what's happening?
Apps require a manual upgrade if their permissions change so requiring hitting accept is security related. (At least this is my understanding, feel free to correct me)
i guess thats correct.. i have seen that the apps mainly comes up as manual updates are when more permissions are added..

there is another app-specific option for disabling auto update. It means, even when auto updates are enabled, they will ask for permission! This helps not updating big games! To check that, go to the app on play store, hit the menu (hardware touch), check if Auto update is ticked! :good:

Yes that's correct. The manuel update is needed for new permissions and for the apps you have install through a explorer

How to disable some services that allow the app to detect what we use?

i want to understand on how to disable few things and how about would i be able to stop this.
So i know that beacon manager tracks our locations so what i want to know there are some apps that check mock location and kicks you out and if app is on expert mode it does not detect it because the mock location is empy but jumps from original location to fake location back and forth even though if i am on gps only and in expert mode. If i disable beacon manager in system file would that prevent this from happening? i tried disabling the fuse location but the maps do not work without it. how can i also disable wifi and Bluetooth location and keep it gps only i already know from the phone settings but i mean in the system and would this jack up my note 5. I have a note 5 is rooted as well i have disable service app very useful but i cant seem to figure this out how to keep it on that location without detecting me that i am using a spoof location. There got to be a solution for this to make it work.
What are these apps using to find out what we have under mock location how can they know there has to be something on our smartphones that is allowing this to bypass.

switching apps off outside home

I'm trying to get tasker to switch an app on and off depending on if I am home. I can get the app to launched but not to kill it. Have added an exit task but it doesn't seem to work. Tried to get it to make a notification when I get home and leave using the same setup and that works any ideas how to get around this.
Very new to the app so bear with me.
Killing apps is iffy at best. I believe since lollipop, it has to do with SELinux. Google play pulled Taskkill from the play store a long time ago. It's still available though. See this Reddit post.

That's bit of a bummer. Killing apps at various locations was my main reason for buying the app.
+ Profile -> State -> Phone -> Cell near (at home) SCAN
... + task -> app -> launch app => exit task -> app -> kill app
Similar to this I mananged to enable/ disable (cgi, http get) my ip camera at home.
perhaps it helps.

Mmmh, I checked with three apps on my device, they also refuses to close.
Go to settings -> about phone and look for SELinux status. I'm sure it says enforcing.
Can't find SElinux in that menu.
You must be stock, so it's enforcing.
I am
I've the same problem, but i've magisk and SElinux permissive. Can not kill an app anymore with Tasker on Nougat (tried with root option checked and unchecked). Tasker is enabled in Magisk superuser.
AutoInput back out of the currently running app.
I ended up with an autoshorcut to a kill task in automate. Works perfectly. It's a shame that this function is not working in Tasker but in others like automate or macrodroid.

100% Weirdness

Hi,
My S10e's battery went flat an hour ago, so I plugged it in and turned it on.
When I went to use it, I had a notification to "finish setting up your phone, copy data..." so I thought it must've installed a new update.
Here is the weird part. It hadn't, but Facebook, Game Launcher and a few other apps popped up in the app drawer. All these apps had been disabled since September. Also, the app drawer now contains a work section at the bottom which essentially replaces the secure folder app. I can't open any of the secure folder apps and the icon for SF in the notification panel has moved position and lacks a descriptor beneath it.
After first turning it on, I checked the settings and it had(and still has) the April version, but it started downloading the May version which I haven't installed yet.
All my secure folder apps are still there, but the correct password comes back as incorrect, so I am unable to access them. To add to the ****ery, the reset password option tells me there is no account under my e-mail address.
When I tap the ""finish setting up your phone, copy data..." notification, nothing happens.
What is happening?
My guess is that there's a bug somewhere or something has gone wrong either software or hardware wise. Updating to the latest firmware either via Odin or OTA might help. Doing a data factory reset may also fix it as well.
