Stock rooted rom - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Hey can anyone give me the idea about the stock rooted roms? If i flash those then it should be pre rooted right? I dont have the bootloader unlocked and i dont want to. So can i just flash the stock rooted rom to get root access? If so can anyone give me any link for m8 hk edition marshmallow stock rooted rom? Help please

Stock rooted is exactly what it says it is, it is a stock ROM with root. You have to have TWRP to flash a ROM to begin with, which means you have to unlock the bootloader.

Thanks for the reply. Now i have already flashed the marshmallow stock in my phone. I had kitkat 4.4.4 rooted rom and i lost the root. As you said that i have to have twrp to flash a rom but i already flashed one before where i did not have to unlock the bootloader. I have super cid and s-off. So if i just flash the marshmallow firmware and then marshmallow stock rooted rom via hboot i dont think i need to unlock bootloader right? When i got my phone it had stock rooted 4.4.4 and the bootloader was LOCKED. So can i flash a similar marshmallow stock rom? I dont wanna install twrp or something. I just want to follow the thread of OMJ to flash the stock rooted rom. But i didnt get the marshmallow hk model stock rooted in that thread. So if u have the link of it can u give me?

If there is a stock rooted MM rom it will be in the RUU thread.
If there is one there, it will require unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery installed in order to install.

From Sony To HTC One, Utterfly Confused

Hi guys. I shifted from my old Sony Xperia Sola to the beautiful HTC One and I'm loving it. The phone was gifted to me and is from from Singapore (or perhaps bought in one of those countries around there). The problem is that I'm just not getting the Android 4.2.2 update (OTA or software). Here's what I intend to do:
- Download International HTC One Andorid 4.2.2 Stock ROM
- Boot into HTC One stock recovery
- Flash Android 4.2.2 Stock on my HTC One
Questions:
1. Do I need to unlock my bootloader for this? From my experience with Sony, I shouldn't need to do so. For Sony phones there's FTF, for HTC phones there's (what? Is it RUU files?)?
2. Can I make this update on stock ROM?
3. Can I install CWM without unlocking bootloader and ROOT my phone as well?
Would really appreciate some help, just links to the respective threads and I'll take it from there.
Thanks!
You need unlocked boatloader for custom recovery , root , flashing , if I were you I'd fist s-off then do the following.

When you say you want to flash stock ROM, do you actually mean official 4.2.2 or are you talking about a custom Stock ROM like ARHD? ... If you want to flash a custom ROM you will need a custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM. If you want to flash an RUU then you will need to be S-Off to flash anything other than the one meant for the region the phone came from.
Your bootloader needs to be unlocked to flash custom recovery, also, if you decide to flash something like ARHD which is the best custom ROM IMO (and is almost completely stock but with a few improvements) then it already has root built into the ROM. Just unlock your bootloader, install custom recovery usng fastboot and then flash a ROM using CWM or TWRP, whichever you install.
Check these threads for any info .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023 ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618

My phone software (.407) belongs to the India region. And I want to flash the official Android 4.2.2 ROM for the Indian HTC One version.

Alternatively, I'm considering flashing ARHD. Doesn't matter if I'm using an Indian region variant right? (GSM)
So I need to:
- Unlock the bootloader
- Install Recovery
- Flash ROM
That's it correct? I lose all the information in my internal storage or it stays? (I mean in the 32GB internal storage)
Also, can I lock bootloader and go back to official ROM at any stage in the future?

Yep, unlock your bootloader which will wipe your internal storage so backup to your pc first if there's things you want to keep. Install a custom recovery using fastboot and then you can just flash any ROM, ARHD is a very good choice btw lol.
If you want to return to stock then check the second thread in my previous post, but yes, you can flash a stock ROM like in the thread I mentioned, install a stock recovery, re-lock your bootloader and then you should be good to go as far as OTA updates etc.
This is assuming you are S-On btw, S-Off requires different steps for what I mentioned and I am not familiar with that way at all as I'm S-On. What I mentioned above is exactly what I did when I reverted to stock to receive the recent 4.2.2 update in the UK
I don't know which files you need to restore to stock as the thread is for the European version of the One and I don't know how your version differs but someone will be able to advise you more on that . The process is the same though if you are S-On, I'm just not 100% sure what custom ROM or stock ROM you would need for your variant of the ONE so best let somebody more knowledgeable take over from here lol
Good luck.
Phew. S-On S-Off, Sony phones are a hell lot simpler! Thanks a ton!

[Q] Firmware update without S-OFF by switching back to StockRom and Update?

Hi everybody.
my HTC one has Viper 5.8 running with S-ON and i like it that way.
I never updated the Firmware since i moved from the 4.2.2 stock rom. (i have nandroid backup of the stock rom)
I am a bit scared doing S-OFF "just" to update firmware, hboot and radio, I know it should be easy to do, but i just don't want to.
So i thought that maybe i can flash back to the stock rom, then make the offical HTC update to 4.3 sense 6 (should also flash newest firmware right?) and then unlock the bootloader again, flash twrp and custom rom again.
Would that work? Is there something i have to pay attention to?
thx for any help!!!!

Since you don't want S-Off, that is your best option. I would follow closely @Mike1986 [GUIDE] Complete Flashing Guide | Rooting | Going Back To Stock it is for those who are S-On.
Thanks, I will follow the guide.
But I have one more question:
Can I do the official HTC update from the htc stock rom while I still have custom recovery and bootloader unlocked?
Can't find any any info if there is any risk involved not changing back first to stock recovery and bootloader relocked before doing the update.
I guess recovery will be overwritten by the official update?!?
You need stock recovery and locked bootloader to take updates

you don't need a locked bootloader to get an official ota update, however, you do need to flash a stock recovery !!.
I went through the ota update method to update my firmware as for some reason my htc one wouldn't s-off and I felt that it wasn't running as it should on custom roms with the old firmware.
I started off with a flashable zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition then ota updates, always doing a nand backup of rom.
always pull the stock recovery image from the ota before updating...
i'm now running 5.11.1540.9 firmware and all custom roms are running good...
if you google 4.06.1540.2 dev edition flashable zip you should find it,if not,i can upload it too somewhere for you...
an official htc ota update changes your firmware and installs a stock recovery..
its a bit long winded this way, but,it was the only way for me !!

First thank you for sharing your experience.
When you say "zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition" then you mean the rom, correct?
Why would you pull the stock recovery from the OTA before updating? What would be the consequence of leaving it in?
...
so i would download the odexed stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48111304
and afterwards flash the according recovery.img, correct?
i guess it is no problem that my phone (and their for the bootloader) was not a developer edition

yeah,it's a full flashable rom, that can be installed by custom recovery, when I say pull the stock recovery,i mean copy it to a folder on your pc,always best to have the matching recovery for your stock rom.

Rooted with towelroot.What next?

Dear all,
I have rooted my device which is running 4.3 (c5502) (build number: . 101) with towelroot. Now i need to install any custom ROM. I came to know that it requires to install recovery first before flash any ROM. I stuck there..Can you please guide me. I didn't unlock my bootloader yet but I had my TA backup with me.Thanks in advance guys.
whatever u need to know is already there. just search for it. if u expect to be spoonfed then you really shouldn't mess with your phone
The thing is, do we really need to unlock boot loader to flash custom roms, or can it be closed just with root and recovery?
No one tryed it till now I think.
Greetings.

Yes for flashing custom Roms the bootloader must be unlocked and a recovery must be installed however if you want to flash a stock based Rom unlocked boot loader is not needed. Just Root and Recovery needed for flashing the stock based Roms. Correct me if i am wrong.

[Q] Rooting Hboot 1.57.0000

Hey guys,
Im new to HTC One. I have Tmobile version running on stock sense 6. I wanted to install a custom stock rom without the Tmobile Bloatware.
I know how to unlock the bootloader using HTC Dev method and install recovery to root. But i am a bit confused about S-Off. I have read that S-off will not work with Hboot 1.57.0000
So my questions are
1. Do i really have to S-off to install custom roms on HTC?
2. If not can i install ROMs for the int. version on my phone ?
3. Does the CID ver/number have anything to do with unlocking and rooting?
Thanks in advance.
1 No
2 Yes
3 No
If any time after install custom Rom you need revert back to Stock Rom for Warranty purposes you need S Off
You can s off with 1.57 if you need to. If Firewater doesn't work sunshine will but it'll cost u $25

Thank you for the reply. I have successfully rooted my stock rom and installed CWM recovery. And i have flashed custom kernel too.
I would now like to flash a 4.4.3 sense custom rom. I have read on some threads that the kernel wont be flashed on S-on devices. So do i have to flash a custom rom always after flashing a custom rom?
And one more thing. I currently have CWM touch recovery. I have seen lot of roms require TWRP. So my question is does the recovery image depend on the HTC variant? I have a Tmobile M7UL

Correct your Q
you don't need always flash custom kernel See requirement of kernel for custom ROM at their post
custom kernel don't need S Off ( it can be flashed with S On and it HELPS GETTING S Off)
S On wont let you flash Lower firmware or kernel then present now. see bootloader screen for that

yes You can flash any firmware same or higher version
TWRP 2.7.1.1 I not tried till but 2.6.3.3/4 is perfect
If only you could root your phone without having to unlock your bootloader so that you could know whether you can S-OFF or not.

[Q] Firmware questions

So, I am rooted and have TWRP for my recovery, running a custom stock rom. I'm wanting to upgrade to a new Lollipop ROM, but they all say that firmware 4.20.651.10 is required. I looked into how to upgrade the firmware, and all I found was that I need to get back on stock recovery, with a locked bootloader. My question is. . .can anyone help my get stock recovery with a locked bootloader again? I have the Harman/Kardon edition.

So that's it? I thought I had to go back to stock in order to flash the new firmware, even through the download available here on the site.
No , you just have to make sure you flash the full firmware and not the modified ones
