You'd have to think the camera would suck, seeing how AOSP has never really been known for it's camera quality before you even try taking pics with a 4MP lens.

in all honesty this time around there isn't much that sense is doing to make these pictures look amazing. The aosp camera in cm10.1 has been producing amazing shots for me and not to mention its heck of a lot faster at taking them. Sense camera app is meh.
I personally wouldn't buy it I think sense 5 is awesome and plus there would be no beats so I'll stay put

Faster? There's literally no discernible lag between taking pictures on sense how is that possible?
CM10.1 is able to take the pictures before you take the phone out.

What? Like in my pocket?
Sense takes photos at 8 frames a second if you hold down the button, that's 125ms between shots. Human reaction time is on average 150-300ms. You literally couldn't hit the button faster if you wanted to, the Sense camera's so fast.
CM 10.1 literally goes back in time and takes the shot you missed.

this would be way to cool ...
better yet, an out of box option that allows you to quickly demo each (AOSP vs Sense) and download your choice for install
:crying: y i can't haz it now?!
This would be great but I fear, much as it is with the AOSP GS4 that such an HTC beast will be GSM only. That is the thing starting to tee me off is being chained to a CDMA network.
Quick edit, not really chained to a CDMA network. Just being a Kansas City person, and having many friends and family that work for Sprint I like to support them as much as I can. Further having said friends and family help me get a better deal than I could get anywhere else.

Just because that's reaction time doesn't mean you can't click eight times per second. I'm a drummer and I can hit far more than eight times per second.

This is one of the main reasons why I left Sprint couple months ago. I love the ability to flash International base ROM's and US ROM's. It also seems overall development for GMS phones is a lot more popular than CDMA base phone. I also love the ability to be able to try out different carriers while still keeping my phone.
The days of the original Evo has long come and went. I can pretty much guarantee you'll never see a CDMA Base phone get as much development support is that one.

Can CM 10.1 for the One take a photo faster than 125ms after pressing the button? If so, how is it a "heck of a lot faster" taking pics when a couple weeks ago they couldn't figure out how to take full resolution pictures? You're approaching the threshold of your reaction time hitting the shutter button taking longer than the picture being captured and saved.

Just wondering who here who has the Nexus 4 is planning to get the impending Nexus 5 when it comes out in a 'few' weeks?
NB lets just all assume that its based on the LG G2 with 4G LTE, Snapdragon 800, 2 GB RAM, 5.2 inch display etc etc and the N4 will get 4.4 on release.
I will most likely. The only thing I really hate (amongst other things) on my nexus 4 and nexus 7 is that the aspect ratio is no longer 16:9 like it was with the galaxy nexus. It really kills the video viewing experience.

Almost all Nexus addicts!
I'm all ready to put my order in before it goes outta stock on Google Play

I'm on the fence. Just jumped on the Nexus bandwagon a week ago just using the N4 as a stop gap until I got the phone I wanted (I have issues) even if it would be a month. But my eyes have been opened to the fact that my life is improved by a smartphone and drastically improved by a very good one.
So I'm in love with my Nexus 4 and we're planning on having a summer wedding.
But seriously, I think I'll be upgrading when the price drops in time for the next Nexus, but just not so I can be on the bleeding edge.
My Nexus 4 is already fast, has great battery life, LTE, takes decent pics, etc etc. Unless they add some really useful feature like expandable storage/removable battery or something along those lines (and I doubt they will add those) I won't be upgrading for at least a little while. Time will tell.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
It's my plan...but I'm waiting for more compelling info/specs...the N4 is damn nice, so I'd need a few extra reasons to blow the wad.
I want to see the specs of the N5 because I bought my N4 4 months ago, but depending on my finances *crosses fingers for the sheriff it job*, than I will definitely upgrade and give my n4 to my daughter. I have the old N7 *2012* and love it as well as I love my n4.. I voted for keeping my n4 but I don't know just yet..
HTH,
Charlie
Why not? If I sell my N4 and the next Nexus 4/5 is going to debut around the same price as its predecessor, it'd only be around an extra $100 or so.
Cannot wait for the Nexus 5!! Will definitely be upgrading
I'm going to upgrade. Main reason is because I like to keep up with the PA devs and from what I hear they're all moving on and will be maintaining one singular device .
I think I'll keep the N4 for awhile. I got both the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus right away, so now I'm going to stick with the Nexus 4. Maybe I'll think about getting it if they release it in white at a later date.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
Would keep it, n4 would be getting 4.4, and I just use n4 to flash the latest as it is my flashing device. I use HTC one for taking pictures, listening to songs, watching videis etc. Love them both, keep switching them bi weekly.

I'm planning to. I love my N4 but I'm really underwhelmed with the camera. I also would like legitimate LTE without the fuss of mods.

Definitely looking to get either the nexus 5 or the note 3. Not quite sure which one right now but the nexus price tag will probably sway me.

What's the secret in getting a clean/crisp picture indoor? Haven't gotten one yet. Only decent picture I've gotten so far were outdoors when the sun is beaming.

We still don't have any pricing/specs confirmation to be able to answer OP's question.
If it's going to have a 500/600$ price tag, a lot of those who "plan to buy it" will stick to their n4.

I've taken literally hundreds of photos with my N4. I've tried a few camera apps from the Play Store, the CM10.1-10.2 cameras, as well as Focal. I honestly don't believe you can get decent picture indoors without HDR, adequate lighting, and an incredibly steady hand.
I was recently visiting my sister who has a S4 and we were both taking pictures of my niece. Same room, same lighting and her photos were coming out exponentially better than mine. If the Nexus 5 has a camera on par with the S4/One/iPhone 5 I'll be happy. If it can challenge the 5S, even better (but I doubt it).
Will the N5 specs be the same as the LG G2, camera and all?

A lot of the issues with the camera are that the stock camera app sucks, Google needs to spend a little time making a half way decent camera app.
So its more on the software side not hardware? I'm surprised custom Roms haven't gone to town on the camera
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
So if Nexus 5 has the same camera as G2, how come it has that weird camera lens in those leaked pics? G2 doesn't have that kind on lense or stuff around it.
I doubt that design really changes much from final Nexus 5.

I'm fairly sure that's what it was, people were discussing it a long time ago but I can't really find it. There were even people comparing which camera was better and in the end it died down after they realized both cameras were the same model by Sony or something. There were even a few people having issues with the purple haze on the iPhone 5, who also had it with the Nexus 4, so that gave it away initially, or so I think. It's been a long time, don't remember.
The Nexus 4 does not have the same camera as the iPhone 5.

I'm pretty sure most custom ROMs use the stock camera app. CM was using Focal but the dev had them take it out after CM incorporated and now CM is back to the stock AOSP camera. By the way Focal is now a beta app in the Playstore and is worth checking out.
The issue is the iPhone does much better photo processing than pretty much any phone. This is done at the driver level and not really directly in the app itself. Hopefully, Google can really improve the experience on the N5.
Please keep all Nexus 5 discussions to the existing threads.

Hey guys I'm in need of an upgrade and I think the HTC One is the answer!
I was wondering if you could please give me feedback on your experience so far.

Can't change battery
No SD card...
So how is the battery life etc??
Thanks

Read through all the posts in General and you'll get your information. Like I tell everyone, buy the phone because you want it, not because someone else sold it to you.
The storage is just enough for me. It would be nice to have a sd card slot though. Battery life lasts 12 hours for me on a regular day. Matters how much you use it of course. The main thing that sold me on the phone was Sense.
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
Have it and don't recommend. I'd wait for the next nexus. I've been disappointed with the camera on the One. 2nd One with camera issues, purple and/or red tint. Otherwise solid phone.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Pros: great screen, front speakers are awesome, nice build, fast, great front camera, good size, great reception, awesome in red, I like the notification LED
Cons: back camera sucks compared most other phones (pictures are pixelated), battery life could be better but it's manageable, charges really slow
Noted: You quickly adapt to the lack of a menu button, takes great pics in the dark, Sense is probably the best skin available, the TV app is really useful.
Verdict: Not bad for a "phone", I think i would have personally liked the S4 better. My 14 year old daughter has one too and loves it.I'll be getting the Note 3 once its affordable and selling this one.
Have one, don't recommend. HTC refuses to pay attention to details such as build quality. It refuses to fix the purple tint issue. The camera is overrated. The battery life is only decent. You can't get S-off on certain hboots.
Wait for the Nexus 5. It looks freaking sweet.

Wait it out bro. This phone is 5 months old and hasn't smelled an update. You have to worry about pink camera issue, the build quality gamble, and who knows if 32gb is enough for you. Wait it out instead of jumping so quickly
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
I, personally, love mine. No camera issue, fast as hell, and we haven't seen an update to 4.2.2 because HTC is jumping right to 4.3 within the next couple weeks.
I've not had a better smart phone experience and I owned a RAZR HD and a galaxy s iii
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I love my HTC One. Like everyone else said, the battery could be better but I'm running complete stock so maybe a custom ROM would help the battery. As for the camera issue, HTC said that they would fix it with the 4.3 update so I wouldn't worry about that. The only thing is that this phone is I think five months old so if you really want a HTC phone, then go for it. I would take this over the S4 and the next Nexus mainly because of HTC Sense. And the specs are as good as the competitors so it all comes down to preference of UI and features. My One has never frozen on me and I've had it for two months. Great phone and would definitely recommend it. Let us know what you decide!
EDIT: Sorry I got off track and forgot to answer your questions. The battery lasts me about 10-11 hours but that's on stock. The storage is more than enough to have for another two years. And like I said, my One has never frozen on me so no need for a battery pull. And I'm sure that HTC made the charging of the phone take longer to conserve the overall life of the battery but mine charges pretty fast. It's not slow but it's not super fast either.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium
This phone uses the older generation of Gorilla glass, people from the Taiwan forums are reporting that the 4.3 update doesn't fix the camera tint, and I get around 14 hours battery life with moderate use. This phone is already outdated and you would be a fool to pay $600 for it when there are much better phones just around the corner.

Screen is good not as good as HTC one, colours not as rich and blacks not as black, video play back not as smooth as HTC one but better than my n4.
