Any update on the 'Network Error" during installation? - Samsung Gear VR

Searched around everywhere and the issue seems to be relatively widespread. During the Gear VR installation process, the install button becomes greyed out, stating "Network error occurred. Try again later."
Im using a Galaxy S7 Edge (G935F) stock ROM rooted +xposed.
I've tried editing the CSC file at /system/csc/sales_code.dat but this hasn't done anything!
I'd prefer not to wipe my phone and go through the hassle but if it that works (I've heard it doesn't) then I'll give it a shot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I got the same problem after xposed installed on my G935T, when it was rooted and installed all work fine, but when i returned to stock rom (because the lag and big hot introduced by rooting it) GearVR never work again always with the wizard error "network problem" but i noticed that when i enter to the recovery and leave it, i get a red message "data mount problem invalid argument" i check xposed installer install.sh script and i notice that they mount /data storage in some lines maybe they change the way /data need to be mount so.. gearvr detect that data is wrong mounted and it avoid to be installed.. so.. im stuck on that weird problem.. and cant install gear vr now.

I figured it out! It's a problem with your phone's CSC version (Consumer Service Code)!
Flash your original CSC version (that should be compatible with Gear VR) using this tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957
If your variant is not available contact the Dev and he will add it upon request! Let me know how you go

Thanks you benno4678 for that solution!, it seems like is more than one solution for this problem hehe, well i fixed it.. i just take out the sim card and start the phone without it.. then i connect to an U.S vpn and everything works fine this time.. is like Oculus hate Cuba nahh.. seriously i think this is because I'm using t-mobile phone with TMB CSC in a different carrier like you said... but without sim card the phone din't show the carrier info so oculus installs works. Btw my operator don't have any CSC defined so.. my solution is the only one that work for me

SOLVED
Take the SIM card out and reboot. Install the software with the SIM card OUT. It worked for me.

[Q] i9000 froyo upgrade with lagfix

Hi All
I actually saw that some other folks had a similar experience, but I can't seem to find any fix for my current state.
I had originally had the stock 2.1 on my SGS and then upgraded via KIES to froyo, the same day it came out.
FF to Saturday, a week and a half ago, I got a notif in KIES that a new upgrade is available.
Stupidly, I forgot I had OCLF and allowed the upgrade.
My phone got semi-bricked after the upgrade.
I put my SGS in the shop, and the tech at the shop flashed XXJM4 on my SGS with a flashing cable
I got it back, today, but it is behaving really badly:
1. downloads from the market fail immediately
2. external SD card is invisible in file browser
When going into "recovery", I see some error messages:
"E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11"
"Invalid argument"
...
"copy_multi_carrier from: XSP"
"multicsc : can not access to /system/csc/XSP/system/"
...
Any ideas?
Please help

1. Try downloading files from the internet, if that works it might be your market app having some issues. You can fix this by reinstalling the market app or by updating the market app.
2. Try mount and unmount the memory card using the setting menu and let the media scanner run. If that doesn’t work back up your files in your sd card and reformat it.
Hope this helps

[Q] i9000 asking for password after update to gingerbread - won't boot

Hi,
I am a rather experienced user when it comes to flashing/using odin and I had successfully updated to JVK from JV1 and had been using it for a few days. I decided I wanted to use a ROM now, so I went to http://romkitchen.org/beta/ and downloaded a no-wipe rom. I was already rooted but needed CWM so I flashed the new version of CF-Root. Everything worked fine so I used CWM to flash the rom. It started an endless boot cycle (Just the galaxy s i9000 words over and over again) so I decided to just repartition and flash JVK with Odin again as I had a backup and wouldn't lose anything. That worked normally but once the phone started restarting (before it got to any boot image) it went to a password entry box. These were the exact same files that I had used to to flash gingerbread before and I have never had this happen to me before. The only physical button that does anything is the menu button which dims the screen. Pulling out the battery/restarting/reflashing JVK or JV1 doesn't help. Froyo (JS5) does work though so I am using that now. I have tried 3 different versions of Odin, going to JV1 then JVK, different .pit downloads, bootloader and non bootloader version of JVK, none of them make a difference, always the password. I have tried all my passwords, and none of them work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
I have the same problem. Tried a lot of variants without any luck. Currently running JPU instead.
I've started to wonder if the phone is actually asking for a unlock code, as if the phone was locked to specific operator. But anyway there is a digit code you can check if your phone is locked, and mine is not.
Please anyone know how to work around this and what is causing this password prompt?
Rooting or putting a modded kernel on jvk does not help either, still asks for password.
First of all try 'samfirmware.com' as the password, may be a long shot but maybe the rom originally came from there.
if that doesnt work, i would send doc or stefunel a PM (or check thread) incase some one else has had this issue, they may no the password considering it was downloaded from their kitchen.
Tried that before, didn't work. It's not their rom anymore, just the stock JVK.
Did you try some common pre-set passwords on electronic devices like '0000' or '1234' ? Maybe this is just something like on a dvb receiver...
Sounds unlikely but since you've tried the 'normal' ways...
very strange. Try Samsung , Gingerbread , 0000 , 1234 , I don't know anything else .
BUT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
no idea if it will even work

FIX for anyone having "Confirm Password" issue on Boot:-
1) Just enter some wrong password multiple times
2) Then a Warning message will appear telling you it will remove all SD Card data
3) Type something wrong again!
4) Let the SD Card get wiped.
5) Then the system will bootup properly next time.
I just did one more *2767*3855# Full wipe after bootup.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!! It worked! Now to install Darkys Rom.
It works
Thanks Pagot, that worked and didn't erase my internal SD card (I have no external one).
just enter many wrong password it'll no erase your internal or externe sd card
Tested on JVO
It Works
Had installed deodexed JVP(2.3.4) via CWM, decided to reset and erase the internal SD card. Got the dreaded confirm password on boot, typed in the wrong password multiple times, the phone rebooted, internal SD card was formatted.
Could that be the encryption password!!???
I was testing my device against a MDM (Mobile device management) system called Afaria, where I work and have enabled encryption in the policy applied to the device. When I got the enter password dialog box I entered the encryption password and the device accepted the password...
this saved my life ahah
works fine with 2.3.5 too
thanks
Very helpful thank you. Worked for me on my Infuse. Took about thirty tries and waiting through about 4-5 30 second timeouts for incorrect password but finally said it would wipe data in accordance with security policy and bam back up running Entropy's DD deodexed and rooted. Thanks fellas. You guys sure helped a noob out.

Thought to update:
Worked for me too - happened every now and then on my lost EFS'ed i9000, as I was trying to install different roms.
Entering it wrong enough times wiped the sd card (that I could careless about)
Cheers!

[Q] Galaxy S i9000 won't factory reset and force closes frequently - now with logcat

Hello all,
please forgive me first of all because I've had very little sleep due to this issue. And its a long thread, but more detail is better generally I believe.
First, some background, and unfortunately, it starts with my wifes phone.
My wife has a Galaxy S GT-i9000 on Orange in the UK. She has had it, probably about a year maybe at most. She has a few apps that she has downloaded but nothing major and on first looks when I got it nothing I expect would cause this issue, just facebook etc.
My wife came home and said, my phone keeps coming up with a message saying force close. Ahh, I thought, some apps gone nuts, but alas, it appeared to be many apps including Maps, Google Upload (I assume this is a system process), Facebook Katana and many more, probably about 20 Force Close messages pop up one after the other and it lags whilst trying.
Odd, I thought, I also noticed the icon for one of the apps on her homescreen had changed to the default White and Green one with the android on it.
I suspected something had gone wrong (obviously), I asked if she had rebooted it and she said she had. So, I rebooted it again, just incase. Same problem.
I then thought it might need an update, it was running official Kies 2.3.3 (or was it 2.3.4, I forget) so I plugged it into my netbook and ran Kies, had to update that as it didn't have the latest application update. I then started the firmware update, after backing up the phone using Kies.
Halfway through the update, Kies popped up a message saying something went wrong and that I had to unplug the phone, take out the battery and reboot. Odd, I thought as the phone was telling me to not doing anything. I waited a minute, nothing further happened, so I did this. Then I got the Black Screen of Death with the phone, the dots and the computer screen.
Crap!!! I thought, I managed to get into Download mode, and reflash it using what I believe was an official ROM using Odin. I then rebooted, and found that it STILL had the data on it and it STILL was doing the force close. At least I had it back to "working" though so I was mildly happy.
I then did a factory reset using the menu system, erased the USB storage (there is no external SD card in her phone) and rebooted, still force closing but prompting me to setup again. Weird. I went through the setup slowly, as every second or so a force close would popup, then when I completed the setup (which still had the wifi settings, account settings etc in it) the System Setup crashed with Force Close. I then rebooted and got to the Home Screen, but still crashing.
I rebooted and used the recovery screen to clear the cache and factory reset, despite the warnings I will lose everything, nothing was wiped.
I tried to update using Kies again but it tells me that the firmware/device is not supported. I am now trying to see if I can use Odin to install a Kies supported firmware. So that I can then try an update using that again.
Anyone got any suggestions, at present, my thoughts are, I was going well within the realms of warranty up until I reflashed it using Odin to try and get back in as I'd only used Kies to update and the issue "just started happening" without my missus doing anything.
There are no signs of damage on the phone and she tells me it was just sat on her desk all day.
So, my question is, what now? I'm of the opinion based on the above that if I can't reflash a warranty supported Kies update, then maybe a custom ROM will be worth a shot to see if its a hardware failure or if its software. I just have never had an issue like this with my HTC Desire and I've ran many custom ROMs and standard ROMs on it.
I do have the .tmp file of the update Kies downloaded, and I also have a Binary folder which has some file inside a couple more folders but its not a .tar or a .zip because when I try renaming it (after a copy) it won't open.
So, suggestions on a postcard, thanks if you got this far through this nightmare. All help massively appreciated.
Edit: it appears to be the same issue as this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822238
I'll try some of their suggestions. Today I also did the *2767*3855# today which I found after a bit more searching. Same problem after a reboot. Force close and data still there.
I've tried and tried again to do various solutions for this, I've even ran a logcat using adb to see if I can see the problem. I suspect its a Dalvik Cache issue in that its unable to write to it for some weird reason.
I've downgraded it to Froyo following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100906
It now detects in Kies and offers me a firmware upgrade. I suspect it will die again though if I try due to this Dalvik problem.
Wiping cache does not wipe the cache. Everything still appears to be there on reboot as mentioned above.
Here is a copy of the LogCat with Java errors all over it: http://leenukes.co.uk/downloads/logcat1.txt (its quite long)
I guess nobody knows. Today I will speak to Orange to try and get it fixed or replaced.

We've been told it is beyond repair. We will see what they say when we go back into the shop. Its still in warranty so I don't see why they won't replace it.

I have a friend with a Galaxy S from Orange Romania and suddenly the phone kept showing Force Close on every App. He had 2.2.1 if I remember right. He whent with the phone to an Orange Shop and they only do a factory reset but data was not wiped.
So what i have done for him:
- start the phone in Download Mode
- start Odin with repartition check and XXJVT (2.3.5) firmware with 3 files (code, phone and CSC) + pit file .512
- after reflashing the phone does have all tha data, so i resarted in Recovery Mode and done a Factory Reset and a Cache Wipe
- i flashed Speedmonde Kernel k16.10 and do again from Recovery Mode a Factory Reset, Cache Wipe and Davlick Wipe.
On reboot the phone was CLEAN. No force closes for a week now.
Sorry for my English hope it helps!

Sound advice there mate, other thing I would have done is in recovery mode before the ODIN flash I would have format sdcard, making sure you have removed BOTH the external sd and the sim card, as it can wipe them as well. Then flash through ODIN as per instructions above.
Using JVT I would flash either speedmod or semaphore 2.1.1 which I personally use.
Happy flashing!!
turns out it was water damage and some parts corroded.
Its going to be claimed for on insurance.

Hello all,
the phone came back from repair yesterday, yay!
the phone now however, doesn't appear to lock onto a mobile signal for very long. Boooo!!!
After sending off for repair using insurance, we got the phone back yesterday but it now appears to be broke in another way. It won't lock on to a mobile signal, wireless is fine but data network and sometimes just mobile signal is patchy and keeps dropping.
I've just reset it to factory defaults, same problem. What I did notice, which is odd is that since it came back from repair, its now unlocked and I can put another networks SIM card in it, same issue there too so I know its the phone now.
I'm going to scour the forums to see if anyone else had/has issues like this, it is running the latest firmware now and a full wipe really did fully wipe it this time, as opposed to last time with its issues due to water damage. One step forward, two steps back?
Its going back to the insurance company. Especially as Orange were suggesting that we pay £70 for a new handset.
Absolute fool I had on support today, yesterday I at least had someone sensible.

Sounds like a modem issue, where the techs at Orange put in the wrong modem for your firmware. I did the same thing when I upgraded from Froyo to Gingerbread.
Alternately, it could be a broken external antenna connection as a result of the corrosion from the water damage. Google "no signal fix" and look for a site that ends in .uk
Just a thought for others who come across this problem.

[Q] Problem LTE Galaxy S3 Wifi and Mobile Internet

Hello everyone,
As the title says I have a problem on my S3 (i9305).
First of all I want to know that it has been dropped or anything,
I put the official version 4.1.2 (the DBT for Germany was the latest then) instead of 4.0.4, rooted + busybox + modem network Vodafone Romania (XXBLL5) and it worked just fine until yesterday.
I arrived at work I checked my mail via wifi network, I disconnected I put on charger and after an hour I removed to make some mail and then give it to initialize wifi stupor show he wants to start and stop and did not want in any way to start a (looks like starts and stops).
Good now seeing that I got it and I somewhat empirically and did the following things:
-clear cache, wipe Dalvik, reset permisions - still did not work
-restore the Nandroid for wifi - did not work
I managed to got mad and threw factory reset - still not working height
-continuing with nervousness I flashed phone about 4 times with different versions 4.1.2 and version 4.3 but bootloader of 4.1.2-
Normally he did not want none and some gave the "camera failed" error.
All versions have been flashed after wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset so I say something to remain excluded from one another.
Now I'm on a Vodafone version 4.1.2 on sammobile after I haunted a bit on the internet I saw that its more people with this problem and someone had an alternative after you rename the file "wpa_suplicant.conf" in root / data / misc / wifi.
I did this and go but it is something temporary peak for once stop or restart your wifi is not working and another thing
mobile internet does not work without you come in APN and reset its there.
Sorry I did read both but I do not understand the phenomenon and to solve it because there can not be a hardware problem but rather a problem or write permission on the root folder.
And now comes the question: is there a solution to my problem or a way to see if some parts are protected to rewrite or corrupt?
Sorry for my english i use google translate.

[Q] How do I proceed

Hi,
I'm new to these things. Please help.
I have partial problems with my phone's speaker. I want to try can it be fixed via System Update.
Speaker problem is kinda mind-bending. Not sure when it occurs.
Speaker seems to work fine when calling someone near. When calling from over ~10 kilometers, speaker distorts the incoming sound. Works fine with loud speaker, which kind of takes the problem out of being problem of my service provider.
I'm quite possibly going to take my phone to the warranty service. That's why I want to have the "Device status: Official", not "Custom".
My friend rooted and installed a custom ROM, which I didn't like. I made him uninstall the ROM but the root stayed. (Late 2013)
Now comes the part I think I f***ed up.
Started watching videos about urooting, unbricking and such. Now what I have accomplished is that I've pressed "unroot" in SuperSU and uninstalled it.
Soon to notice that I should've used some program to clear the Device status.
Not sure what Flashing Android means and when its done, but there is counter which should be put to zero?
Those two things are done in programs which require rooting? So what do I do now?
Installing SuperSU gives me error binary not installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. Someone in fixed this with restarting device in Recovery mode with QuickBoot program which, again, needed the device to be rooted already.
I want to have my System Update done by the "right" way, from "About device" -> "Update". Now it gives me "Your device has been modified."
Please redirect and guide me!
I have S4 active GT-I9295, android version 4.2.2. Ask about baseband, kernel versions/other statuses if you need those informations!
Thank you SO much for your time and help beforehand! :good:
ps. 2 year warranty is till 28.9.15
thanks for everybody for answering!:good::good::good::good:
