Ive done a bit of reading and the information seems to be in a few different threads and doesn't specifically mention the 20i update.
So here are my questions:
Can I root and install twrp without BL Unlock?
Can the BL be relocked? (Ive seen people stating it can and others say its impossible)
If TWRP cant be achieved w/o BL Unlock, can Xposed be installed without TWRP?
Im trying to avoid BL Unlock as I cant return it with an unlocked BL should I need to.
All I want is root, xposed and Viper4android
If I can unlock and relock BL then I'd be fine with that.
Id appreciate if all links and responses are applicable to the 20i update
Ive included a screenshot of the SW Info

root with locked bootloader only on LP10n you can downgrade from 20i to LP10n only as they both antirollback V2.. the new 20o its V3.. so youll be stuck there.. in LP 10n yes you can root with locked bootloader using systemroot injected...
on MM to root you must unlock bootloader and have a kernel that supports systemless ..
so quick answer locked bootloader.. only root no twrp and must be on LP10n.
MM you need bootloader unlocked..
according to some guys it can just by changing command relock.. funny no ones has made a video of it relocking.. as the same some say it cant some say it does.. i think only H811 can..
yes on LP 10n you cna flash xposed .. with flash fire.. thats the only zip that installs .. the rest like mods wont install.. funny thing xposed does.. the mods i do them manually placing the files to their folders and changing permissons..
my question is.. if unlocked .. and get hit by bootloop can we relock it even that phone has ILAPO o bootloop issue... as it needs to boot it reboots... so its it need it to boot phone to recock it.?
if you unlock could you relock it flash stock fimrware then send for repairs..? thats what i need to know.. so i can unlock it..

My last device has an unlocked Bl on MM10i(Ithink) and I downgraded to lp10n and the Unlocked BL message at boot went away. However Im not sure if it was relocked by downgrading or the message stopped showing.
Currently, the phone is completely stock w/o root. You're saying that I should downgrade to 10n, root and flashify Xposed.
If I do take this approach can I get MM and retain the root and xposed?

thats interesting .. so you must be on 20i. then downgrade to 10n and message on boot dissapeared.? then how could one tell its still locked??
if you want root with locked bootloader.. yes LP 10n do the inject low effor root and flash xposed . not sure about flashify , i used flash fire..
no you wont have root or xposed... fot that you need bootloader unlocked on MM.

Yes I'm on 20i. However I'm not sure if I can downgrade on this version without tripping the QFuse.
And in regards to the previous device, I think the BL might still be unlocked. Ive read somewhere that the message only shows up if you're on MM.
It wont show if your're on LP even if its unlocked. Im not sure tho someone would have to confirm that thats the case.
If in fact the BL is still unlocked but its just a matter of it not being displayed at boot in LP, I imagine they might be able to tell when they use whatever software they use to wipe them when refurbishing.

MM20i and LP10n are V2 you are safe to downgrade. you can only go from 20i to 10n or 10n to 20i.. if you update 20o youll be stuck there..
okey thanks then maybe it only shows in MM do to the systemless feature blah blah blah.. and on lollipop you can get past that security...
all i want is to know can i relock it even with phone in bootloop issue.. thats what keeping me from unlocking.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.
I'm currently on 20i with root and TWRP and would like to upgrade to 20o+root+TWRP without erasing data. Is this possible?

that will be hard to do, bcuz bootloader gets lock and you need to unlocking again (don't quote me on that) and that process will erase data, what you can do is the Following :
1- Do a 20i Data only backup. (i say Data only cuz if you do Full Backup and you update to 20o you won't be using all of it for Hard-Brick reason)
2- Update using KDZ.
3- Follow existing Unlock Bootloader + TWRP + Root procedures.
4- Once that done just Reboot to TWRP and Restore DATA - Wipe Cache and Dalvik.
will take time but is the only way i can think off right now.

At the moment there is no possibility for that available because there is no flashable zip for the ota. If you want to go to 20o then you have to sacrifice your data ( you can use titanium backup on your own risk ). But Rooting and TWRP method are same as 20i for 20o.

you only problem will be entering Fastboot mode.... IF you unlock and didn't flash TWRP as far as i know only way to get your G4 back to normal if you get hit with Bootloops even with unlock bootloader is using LGUP + KDZ, but you need to use the same version you using right now , for sample if you are in 20o flash 20o kdz, cuz if you flash 20i you'll get Hard-brick and i don't know a way to fix that..

am on 10N and ive used 20i. and am not going onto 20o. its V3 antirollback so i want to stay here where i can go back to LP. i didnt get it.
you saying that flashing KDZ will remove the message that its unlocked.? doesnt phone stay unlockdd forever?
its fastboot mode same as download mode?? am very confused.
so if i get bootloop i cant enter fastboot and relock it.? then flash stock KDZ then phone would be like locked but with bootloop.. bootloop issue its only during booting into android.?
this is so confusing LOL... sorry. i just want to make sure i can relock it if i get bootloop if not then am staying locked untill warranty.

1- you didn't mention before you are in 20i , so i was assuming you were n 20o
2- i really doubt you'll get bootloop when unlocking the bootloader. (i'm 100% sure about that)
3- like you said IF (BIG IF) you get bootloop you can just boot your G4 in Download Mode and flash 20i KDZ with LG UP and get back to normal.
4- Unlocking the Bootloader doesn't mean you can't relocked back again after flashing the 20i KDZ OR unlocking....Relock bootloader is as easy as unlocking it.
5- Download Mode and Fastboot Mode are 2 different things and Download Mode (Flash KDZ) can be access if you have bootloop or not

are we both talking about the same bootloop?? the bootloop that can only be fixed by LG sednding for repair or named ILAPO?? cause when i unsintalled playsote and Gservices that updated after reboot i got bootloop but flashing KKDZ fix it.. i talk about the one that the motherboard main cores disconects and needs to be sent to LG.. if bootloader unlocked the warranty is void . just want to unlock it. be sure that i can relock it. then flash stock rom and send it to LG.. when they see phone they can see its locked.

so you have 508 and are rooted and bootloader unlock.. what would you do in case of bootloop. my concern its to get it fix. i dont care about data. i back up requently too. having the bootloader unlocked that voids warranty.. i have not unlock it cause i do not want to void warranty. i tought i could relock it , flash stock firmware and send to LG if bootloop happens.....
for the camera and sound you must flash KDZ 20o so i heard that fixes it . some people were on 20i after getting 20o camera and sound problem..

This is my 5th g4.sold them like hotcakes...dont judge me[as my 7 yr would say]
I dont think they care about unlocking the bootloader with tmobbile..i send some in with unlock bootloader and crack screen and they send me a brand new device..lucky me right??

mines 601 HW1.0 but i got it second hand. it was paid off i guess as its unlocked..currently using it on mexico.
i dont know how warranty works with tmobile. i dont think anyone can just walk in to store and have it fix. unless it has warranty and the owner of account its there.. i know i have warranty on LG. but they do check for bootloader unlock..
So just to be clear, it is possible to root vanilla 20o using the "official" root method found here?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/stock-h811-20i-images-kdz-flashable-t3308227
I just got my G4 that came with 20i. I'm not sure what the "kdz" is but since it was already on 20i, I unlocked the bootloader, loaded twrp, tried to install twrp but it failed saying it couldn't mount some directories, and then I flashed the SU zip and rebooted. Bootloader stayed unlocked but I didn't get root access. Anyway, I'd like to upgrade to 6.0.1 and have that rooted if possible. And that can be done using lgup?
Man, I've really done research until my eyes are ready to pop out lol. Can someone please help me.
I'm using this guide to try and unlock my bootloader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfpehEkhfyg
Problem is, it's for a verizon version, mine's a note 4 T-mobile sm-n910t3
I'm just a noob and never had to do this unlock bootloader crap on my note 2. I need help.
I just want to unlock the bootloader, and flash recovery, supersu, and a cool rom like res. remix or CM remix.
On the video, the part I'm stuck on is he's using a file: "samsung_unlock_n4-2" with no file extension (.xxx)
I'm assuming this is a bootloader file?? I found a bootloader for my version which is a folder with contents:
FOLDER: BL_N910T3_DOK2 CONTENTS: aboot.mbn / NON-HLOS.bin / rpn.mbn / sbl1.mbn / sdi.mbn / tz.mbn
He goes on to use a CMD and fastboot to temporarily root the phone to install TWRP recovery,
but when he pushes this command: "adb push samsung_unlock_n4-fix /data/local/tmp/"
I don't think I can do that with a folder and I don't know which file to use.
QUESTION:
-DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH FILE I NEED
-OR-
IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO FLASH A CUSTOM KERNEL THAT UNLOCKS THE BOOTLOADER, THEN ROOT, FLASH ROM AND EVERYTHING A LOT EASIER.
Side note, I didn't know I had to unlock FRP and tried to flash recovery. I also tried CFautoroot.
Both are blocked from working so I'm just assuming the bootloader is locked, otherwise it would say "mode developer" on the stock recovery. Off topic, I started reading about CyanogenMod Installer.... wtf ever happened with this program?!?!?! It sounds awesome!! It said it even would unlock bootloaders and everything. It was only after reading that it was put out of service that I stopped doing my happy dance. why in the fudge brownie cheesecake would you delete something so awesome? Anyway, can you guys plesaea help before I commit android suicide. That would be great.
I CAN'T BOOT INTO CUSTOM RECOVERY. IF I COULD DO THAT I COULD DO ANYTHING. UGGGGG
Anything, whatever...
I'm at a loss here......
It's been days and I'm frustrated.
910T3 versions are locked down for good after 6.0.1MM update but you could DO2 it and then just be stuck without wireless and NFC. Lol, its just so dumb isnt it lol. Pretty soon in the future maybe they'll jusf give us an option to have our devices custom made by your own specs??

So far i know is N910T3 bootloader is not locked unlike verizon or at&t .
All you have to do is go to settings/about device and hit on build number 7 times .
You will see in settings "developer options" go to OEM UNLOCK and just turn it on this will unlock your bootloader and make sure reactivation lock is turned off in settings/security.
Thats it now you can go to download mode and flash twrp recovery and flash any rom from twrp compatible for your model.

Did this work, as in actually unlocking the bootloader right then, just by checking that box? I thought that option only got the phone ready for unlocking or something like that. I'm trying to root a T3 and don't want to flash over an unlocked bootloader, of course.

Has anyone tried this? I have an 910T3 running a custom ROM on lollipop 5.1.1. I wish to try and upgrade to marshmallow 6.0.1, and eventually a new custom ROM, but I am hesitant to do so as I have read that the 910T3 cannot be downgraded, should I like to return back to lollipop.
After setting OEM unlock , don't you need to use a procedure with adb fastboot through a terminal interface to unlock the bootloader?
I would love to know more about this before I attempt and irreversible upgrade.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Once you upgrade to marshmallow you cannot downgrade to lollipop forget it.
To unlock bootloader you just have to turn on oem unlock thats it no need adb.
If you are already running custom rom as you mentioned your bootloader should be already unlocked.

So, trying to clarify, what you are saying is once you upgrade to marshmallow bootloader is permanently locked? From what I understand, locked bootloaders are what prevent you from changing ROMs, so I assume you are saying that OEM unlock will not work under marshmallow?
So no way I could reflash DOK2 Bootloader and return to Lollipop again? Or just flash a stock Lollipop ROM with ODIN?

Oem unlock will work no problem on marshmallow and you can root & flash roms easily same as lollipop.
But you can only flash marshmallow roms once you upgrade.
I was saying only you cannot downgrade from marshmallow to lollipop.
odin will fail if you try to downgrade

Thanks for the reply. In doing more searching around I found one of your older posts from 2016 and it sounds to me like it is a idiosyncrasy of the 910t3. I believe you stated you sold the T3 and ended up getting a 910T for that reason, so you could downgrade if you wished. Looks like I will be sticking with lollipop, unless I get another motherboard or phone. Thanks again for the response.
Still looking for the Le S3 X522 version bootloader unlock, as far as I know it still can't be unlocked, or can it?
Would be nice to have it unlocked.
How does a locked bootloader affect root? I know you can temporarily unlock bootloader, does any of this affect xposed?
Ummm yes... It can be unlocked. I'm running Lineage 7.1.1 on the S3 right now...
Bootloader still cannot be unlocked permanently, only temporary, in other words I can unlock it and flash everything I needed but once it is rebooted it will lock again and in order to flash something it will have to be unlocked again, it has nothing to do with booting into twrp, it might even look like it is flashing but really it will not, maybe some things can be flashed but things that affect system will not.
You don't need to permanently unlock the bootloader. You just unlock it long enough to install twrp. Once you have twrp you can flash whatever you want.

WTF dude.....
You relocked the bootloader with TWRP? You are really lucky to not have a bricked phone.
Unfortunately for you, to replace twrp with stock recovery and get the phone back to stock state you'll have to unlock the bootloader again as we cant do anything with a locked bootloader.
*>Unlock your phone like you did before.
*>Make sure you have twrp installed.
*>Follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
(just don't put image of twrp in the directory since you are aiming to go stock)

I've unlocked and relocked my BL about 10 times with no adverse effects that i can see apart from after relock BL displays 'relocked'. I've also loaded all 3 different versions of TWRP in between and about 4 gsi images. Now back to stock B136 with magisk 17.1 and BL unlocked again with safetynet passing and banking apps working plus google play showing 'certified'. Why does unlocking and rocking BL cause issue? apart from the obvious full wipe required. Isn't it just a software flag getting set and reset? It's a genuine question cause i really don't know.

Boy aren't you lucky. Some guys have a hard time with relocking bootloader.Maybe you are just lucky or they're doing something wrong.
But how did you flash twrp with a locked bootloader?
PS im also having the relocked status in fastboot. Do you think we can make it back to 'Locked'? Just in case of warranty issues.
How to root it actually im new here
Now, then LG don't gives bootloader unlock key anymore, it seems so probably.

I should assume you've probably figured it out by now, but just in case you didn't:
You're gonna need to follow the guide that lets you unlock the bootloader. Once your bootloader is unlocked, you need to install magisk, patch your (active) boot image in magisk and then flash it the same way you did the bootloader (ie through QFIL).
I can clarify some of the steps if you want me to, but the gist of what I did is there. I have an LM-V409N running the SKT Android 10 build w/ root access.
