Can't tether since updating to Marshmallow... - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says.
I recently updated my phone (Z3 Compact D5803) to Marshmallow (6.0.1) and since then I've been unable to tether. I constantly get "Error occurred during tethering" and if I do connect a device to my phone, said device does not have internet access.
I've done this: http://www.lukecjdavis.com/fix-inter...droid-devices/ and this works for about a day but I always have to do it again.
My MNO is Three Ireland, if that matters, but I don't think it does because my sim card let's me tether in other phones, just not my Z3C...
Does anyone know a way I can fix tethering on my phone?
Thanks.

WiFi Direct & Hotspot not working (Stock | Un-rooted | US 32 GB))

Hi guys,
This is rather strange; I've used my HTC One to tether its 3G to my laptop several times, but it suddenly stopped working. My MacBook can recognize the network and even connect to it (sort of) but it says "no internet connection". Also, the WiFi direct apps also have stopped working (I'm guessing the issue might be related). I used to use an app called "Flash Transfer". I've tried several different apps from the Play store, none of them work. It just says "Connecting" and the finally gives up and fails.
To my recollection, I haven't changed anything on my phone. Any help? It's really irritating. Thanks!
I have this issue though mine has never worked. I did the setup, my Mac can see the SSID, it asks for password, seems to authenticate. But no internet. I have also tried this with an iPad. I do the same exact thing with my wife's Galaxy S3 and it works perfectly. Any ideas out there?

[Q] Republic Wireless Tethering?

My Moto X is rooted on 4.2.2, but I cannot seem to find any tether apps that will enable hotspot functionality. Usually I get the dialog box titled "Hotspot Error" with "Unable to connect to data network; turning off Hotspot. You may not be subscribed to the Hotspot service; please contact your phone company." I usually get that error message or just another generic error message.
I have tried PdaNet, but don't like being limited to USB and 20MB. Also, upon attempt at activating a hotspot via PdaNet/FoxFi, I had received the aforementioned error above. Can I not tether since I'm rooted? Thanks in advance for any help.
Did you have any luck. It look like I almost got it working with my iPad with foxfi for sprint on my moto x and Ibluever on my iPad. However it failed on the final screen. Does root help with this situation?

Troubleshoot Wi-Fi Tethering Android 5.1

I searched for help unsuccessfully. If I missed a post that offers help, please refer me to it.
I have an unrooted first generation Motorola X. It has recently been factory reset. When I enable Wi-Fi tethering and I can see the wireless connection but none of my devices can connect to it.
Windows Devices say "Cant connect to this network"
Android Devices just never say connected
Troubleshooting steps I have already taken
1- Reset adapter (On windows)
2- Rebooted (both phone and computer)
3- Uninstalled and Reinstalled newest driver for PC
4- Successfully tethered this PC to a different phone on same plan using Wifi Tethering
5- Successfully tethered this PC to this phone using USB Tethering
6- Attempted using 5ghz vs 2.4 ghz
7- Attempted using no security vs WPA2
Any ideas what else I can do to troubleshoot this?
Running the stock firmware? If not, what are you running? What model Moto X do you have?
I can confirm this.
Moto X - 1060 DE on Verizon. Stock firmware
OTA update to 5.1 broke tether in the way mentioned. Wifi appears to cycle on and off repeatedly such that you may be able to occasionally catch it, but the connection is not maintained if it even ever gets a chance to complete.
AT&T cancelled their roll-out without explaining why, but I would not be surprised if this may be one issue
Edit: LG-G3 had the same issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/lollipop-tethering-t3071188

New Huawei P10 - Hotspot / Tether not working... Help!!

OK, so it's a Vodafone upgrade, plenty of data avail, on contract, in UK, just cannot get these to work!!
Huawei to Windows 7 Laptop
Huawei to HTC ONE M9
Huawei to Samsung Galaxy S2
All say connected, but Internet is not getting to the tethered devices, P10 also says no data used whilst USB tethered or Hot Spotted!!
I follow the screen instructions to the letter, but as I say, they connect, but Internet just isn't there....
Pulling my hair out!! Help!!
Cheers
Karl
I don't know if you ever solved your problem, but I hit the exact same brick wall trying to get wifi tethering to work, hope this may help someone else.
My phone is Huawei P10 lite, and network also Vodafone.
I was able to narrow it down to an IP conflict issue: If I turn on wifi tethering I will lose internet on the phone and connected phones will also not have internet available, obviously.
I tried changing the APN settings (Mobile Network and select your APN in use, then EDIT) and use for normal connections and roaming both IPv4 and IPv6 (the default is only IPv4), and that allowed me to be able to use internet on my phone with tethering on; however connected phones still do not receive a valid IP and aren't able to connect to my internet.
I finally managed to share my internet, but only using bluetooth tethering, not wifi (using the settings I mentioned above).
BTW: Using the exact same SIM card, on another phone, I have no issues whatsoever setting up a wifi hotspot to others. This happens only with this combination (Huawei + Vodafone)
Reset your apn settings
Same issue here with two new p10s and Vodafone. So it seems a bug in the tethering subsystem since one of them work only if you tether via Bluetooth and the other one just fails to bridge the network via its hotspot. Wondering if anyone here has managed to report the issue to Huawei/Vodafone and what was the outcome and/or reference to do a follow up. Best regards
Ok, I've got it working on one of the phone (missus not around but it should fix in the same way).
All I needed to do was to reset the APN to it defaults as described in the Vodafone forum.
Settings -> Mobile Network -> Access Point Name -> Three dots (upper right hand side on the screen) you will find the "reset to defaults" and that's how I fixed it!
You legend - that totally saved me doing a factory reset for which I shall be eternally grateful. Well.. At least til next week.

Question Tether Bypass?

So I have a Samsung unlocked phone on the latest firmware, One UI 3.1 Baseband AUB6 Non-root. Currently on Tmobile. I don't have internet at the moment, won't for a few days, so I'm using my mobile hotspot plan that only has 10 gigs. Been streaming Netflix on my console and was wondering if anyone has found a way to trick the data usage from the tether plan. Rooting is not an option for me. I read that the "settings put global tether_dun_required 0" trick doesnt work so haven't tried that. Tried using the netshare app and that didn't work. Are there any other tricks that anyone can confirm?
With root, on my old phone, I used an app called vpn hotspot with a vpn service that worked great. Without root (probably works with root too) I use PDANet+ installed on my S21 Ultra and also installed on the device tethered to the S21 Ultra. However, I actually haven't tested\verified PDANet+ yet since I recently got my phone.
One way to know if either method works is if you exceed your tethering limit you'll still be able to download at max speeds.

I won't be able to install PDANet+ on my Playstation though. Was trying to avoid my laptop cause it's not ideal at the moment. I may have to do that though
