FYI - Anyone Planning on Getting a Moto Z - Moto Z Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Received my Moto Z Force from Verizon today. Unfortunately, the device does NOT include a standard USB data cable in the package.
The Turbo Charger that comes with the device is hard-wired, and since the device uses a USB Type-C connector, a standard Micro-USB cable will not work!
So if you want to connect your Moto Z to a PC, you'll need to order a USB Type-C data cable separately (if you don't already have one)

Yeah, That's pretty messed up. Mine arrived today from Amazon along with a QC3 car charger. They're both Anker and pretty good quality.

Realized this was an issue when I went to transfer my pics/music backup from my computer to my new MZF. Had to resort to trusty ol' WiFi File Explorer Pro to get my stuff on there, worked well enough. USB-C is nice and all, but all these new cables/chargers kinda sucks for now lol.

If you have a PC/Mac with a USB-C port, I highly recommend getting a C-to-C cable, since the C port will turbo charge your phone while plugged in and transferring data.

[Q] Need help selecting correct micro usb cable because not all will work

Ok Guys and Gals,
I had a topic going on for a while about windows not detecting my Tablet.
we went round and round about drivers, Novacom, and even formatted my system.
But here what it was My micro usb cable.
My dog had eaten my Hp one. so I bought a generic one through EBAY
I my son took my cable for whatever reason so I grabbed the one that cae with my phone and it fixed everything
So heres my question
what is the right Micro usb cable to buy that will give optimum power abnd data transfer
A micro usb 2.0?
anybody that can help would be great
Any decent microUSB cable will work, its just 4 wires inside linking your Touchpad to your computer. I have used a Motorola, Blackberry, etc branded cables with no issues. Its not uncommon for cheap generic cables to have issues if they shipped with a defect.

Anyone using USB c to A 3.0 or 3.1 cables successfully with their note 8?

I have tested with several cables and multiple manufacturers and multiple computers and cannot get a USB3.0/3.1 cable to keep a connection with the PC. USB 2.0 works fine.
I called Samsung and they are telling me that they only support the cable that came with the phone, which is a 2.0 cable. So they don't even support the 3.1 standard they advertise. I am about to return the phone over this. I have not found anyone else having this problem, but I have also not heard that anyone is using USB3 successfully either.
Yes I have success
I transferred over 7gb of data from a pc to a Note8 (sandisk 400gb Sd card) using a choetech USB c 3.1 gen 2 superspeed cable. The pc has superspeed ports (Alienware Area 51). Did not have any issue the two times ive connected the note 8 to a pc.
I have a type C to 3.1 type A cable from Anker, but have only used it on 3.0 ports on my laptop and desktop, definitely works super fast (even flashing the firmware with Odin - only takes a few seconds for the full package). I ordered 2 different cables though, one was apparently charging-only and didn't even work to fast charge.

I was planning to buy Anker Powerline Plus USB - C to USB A 3.0 cable. Isn't the cable good enough to fast charge the phone? Doesn't it charge as fast as the regular one (which came in the box) does? How much max current can be drawn using anker cable to charge note 8 and how much time does it takes to fully charge the device with anker cable compared to the original one?
Kindly provide these details, as I am confused whether to buy this cable or not.
TIA..
I have Trilink braided USB-C 3.1 cables that I bought on Amazon. They work perfect, super fast transfer speeds, and my phone charges the same as with the OEM cable that it comes with.

Does your PC actually support USB 3.0+ and are the ports setup correctly? Too many motherboard manufacturers poorly implemented USB 3.0 on their rushed motherboard, and Microsoft had to suffer the long end by providing poorly patched drivers because the boards never had the proper port insulations.

I will look into this but one is a brand new Dell Latitude and the USB 3 worked on my desktop with my S5.

QI wireless adapter won't charge phone anymore - XZ1 compact

Hi all,
I have an XZ1 compact (Model G8441 non-root) that I'm very happy with, but I can't get it to charge wirelessly.
I bought an adapter with a USB-C plug and it worked to charge the phone at first, but it suddenly stopped working after a few charges.
I figured I had a fault with either the wireless receiver that plugs into the phone or the charger pad.
I tested the receiver via a micro-USB adapter on my old Z5 compact and it charges fine. I also bought another charger pad, and it also won't work on this phone.
When the phone is on the charger pad, the indicator on the pad recognises that something is there and goes from green to blinking red as if charging, but nothing happens on the phone.
If the phone is completely switched off, all I get is a blinking green LED on the phone.
I've tried it with the case on and off.
There have been three updates since I got the phone a few weeks ago. Is it possible that an Oreo software update has broken the low power charging somehow?
Obviously I've rebooted the phone, but I haven't done a factory reset.
I'd appreciate any help you could offer.
You could indeed try downgrading the phone to determine if it's a firmware/software issue or a hardware issue.

I'm confused. The XZ1 Compact doesn't have wireless charging. What did you buy to wirelessly charge it? Something that plugs into the USB port and then sits on a wireless charger?

Yes, I bought a wireless adapter with a USB-C plug that connects to the phone & lays against the back of the phone inside the case. You then place it on a wireless charging pad.
I've done the same thing with several other phones & never had a problem.
Didn't see it explicitly mentioned, did you try using a different USB-C adapter cable? Since the micro USB cable works, we can safely assume the pad's fine. But I didn't see you cross test another type c cable.
Solved
Hi all,
I managed to fix the problem by replacing the QI receiver attached to the phone with a new one.
Strange that the old one worked if I connected it to a different phone via an adapter (and that it worked to begin with on my phone).
It must have had a problem where it couldn't output enough voltage to charge my new phone, but had enough to charge the old one.
Thanks for your help.

What I had changed was the charger pad. I tried two different ones, a USB-C powered one and a micro USB powered one. Neither worked.
I have a new QI receiver on order.

Moto G6 charging/data cable problems

Got a Moto G6 a few weeks ago (not the Play or Plus). Android Oreo. The charging cable that came with it works great, but a little loose, but I need more than 1 cable around, and too short for my other uses except for night time charging. I since bought a 10 foot USB-A to USB-C cable on ebay, as well as a micro-USB to USB-C adapter at Five Below. The ten foot cable is very wiggly in the G6's port, and often does not make connection to charge. If I pick up the phone, will hear the USB disconnected signal on my PC, and then will connect again, randomly. The adapter is in-between, somewhat loose, and only disconnects when using the phone sometimes. Again, the OEM cable is a little loose but works fine. Also, the ten foot cable and adapter when connected won't let me transfer files to/from phone, while the OEM cable will let me transfer files fine. It lets me open to view files after choosing "transfer files", but then hangs and get "a device attached to the system is not functioning" on both my Windows 7 PC's when I try to copy files either way or delete. Bad USB port on phone? So what is going on here with both these problems? Also, how do I get the phone to beep when the cable is connecting or disconnecting? I don't see any setting. My old Sammy would give a tone each time. Thanks.
PS I tried to see if the USB port was loose with a toothpick, and it seems solid, so is there special USB cables?

Question S21 Ultra Cable

What do you guys use? My already owned cables doesn't work on data transfer. Only charging. So I need a cable with data transfer capabilities and can fast charge my S21Ultra. What do you guys recommend?
Got my new phone yesterday and tried all my cables and dongles, but I could not get data transfer to work. Then I tried the short usb c to usb c cable that came with the new phone. It worked immediately.

I've had zero issues with these 6' Anker ones from Amazon. I've had them since the beginning of the year and use them daily.
I found with AUGM S21 Ultra update my data cables bar USB C to USB C cables stopped working. Prior to this update most USB A to USB C data cables worked.
