If the RUU closes everytime while setting up it's because you don't have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package installed on your PC

Don't worry about locking bootloader or being on stock firmware.
Extract rom.zip from the RUU like with this guide -
https://sites.google.com/site/androidbyyorzua/home/tutorials/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-ruu
The rom.zip is encrypted. There's ways of getting files from it, but don't waste your time.
Set it up in your fastboot folder like you would any other rom flash and open a cmd prompt from that directory.
Boot your phone to download mode.
Enter command "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
Your phone will boot into the RUU update screen.
Enter command "fastboot flash zip rom.zip"
Your phone does all the decrypting instantly and the flash will start.
Mine loops one of the first few processes a couple times, but ends up continuing. It also sometimes seems to have completely stopped flashing. It always keeps going though so don't stop it unless it's been over 10 minutes without progress. Mine usually takes 15-20 minutes to finish so be patient.
And you're back at 100% stock.
I would use twrp to wipe->advanced wipe->check all except external storage-> and then wipe before booting to download to ensure a clean flash. Hope it helps.

[Q] HTC One Bricked (bootloop)

Hello folks,
During update from Revolution HD 3.4 to 3.5 something went wrong and process stopped before it got finished. Now I ended up in bootloop, even recovery is not working. I've tried to use RUU but failed on CID verification as I'm having the phone from 3 IE. Is any chance to bring it back to life or i just got very expensive paper weight ?
Or if anyone can provide RUU for 3 IE I'm willing to pay for it.
Bad day, bad day...
Thank you for any advice.

Thanks, for hint. Got recovery working again
What I have done.
1.) Unlocked, re-locked bootloader.. (i think this did the trick, full wipe ?)
2.) Wiped cache
3.) Re-flash clockworkmod
4.) Upload ROM using sideload.
Now the phone is back. I hope i will not break something again.
Hi, I am having the same issue with my phone as of right now. I tried re-locking bootloader and then unlocking again and also reflashing clockwork and I am still getting the bootloop and cannot access recovery (flashes for 0.1 secs and then disappears).
What exactly did you do to fix the issue?

Hi Riyal,
I have fixed that issue with fastboot erase cache. Now, I am having a problem loading a ROM because it states in recovery that it "can't mount SD card"?
Figured it out, I just had to ADB push a stock rom and then re-wipe/re-flash

I had the same problem, going to try to sideload this stock de-odexed rom (didn't work the first few times) and CHILL THE PHUCK out until AOKP.
scared me lol first HTC device, brand new, and I thought I broke it.
P.S I realized that REVOHD uses AROMA, that's why it wouldn't sideload.... Am I Rite?

My HTC One device is actually suffering the same problem.
I bought my HTC One Sprint(Sim-Free Edition) in the US and got it to India.
But after I inserted my Indian Sim it said ''SIM LOCK ENABLED''.....I just got frustrated and
rooted the device and tried to install ''Android RevolutionHD (Odexed)'' Stock ROM with the help of TWRP.
But after I installed the stock rom, my device is just showing the HTC symbol and hanging there itself.
It Hangs there for around 6-7mins and reboots and the same happens again.
The only thing I can do is to get in to the bootloader and Power OFF the Device.
Any Help???? Please..... just having a costly paper weight since 2 weeks.
Please need help urgently....!!!
Hi
Greetings,
Did you flashed boot.IMG if no
Extract the boot.img from the Rom
Copy that file to abd/fastboot folder
Now connect you phone with pc with your phone booted in fastboot/bootloader,
Later flash boot.img by following command
"Fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Reboot and your done
If you do not know how to use abd search for it
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium

The Sprint version is never going to work on any carrier other than Sprint. It's a CDMA device. The sim slot if for connecting to Sprint's LTE network, but requires a CDMA connection first and foremost to work at all.

I'm stuck on the same boat :\
I was able to finally boot into CWM recovery but I'm getting write errors all over the place.
I used the AIO Kit to re-lock the bootloader and unlock it - Reflashed CWM - Tried to sideload ARHD 10.0 but the DOS prompt errors out saying that it cannot find my device.
Little help?

i was going through the same thing yesterday and i thought i had bricked my phone. what i did that finally worked, was unplugging the usb, restarting the computer, reinstalling htc drivers, then restarting the computer, then using a different usb port. i was finally able to sideload ARHD whereas before i could do fastboot commands, but it wasn't responding to the sideload, and wasn't able to mount the sdcard, so i thought i was screwed. :good:

Thanks for the tip, I was able to get back into AROMA but the original issue that got me to this point came up again. Aroma installer runs and during the install it kicks itself out and sends me back to recovery, so the installer doesn't complete. It gets to about 30% and craps out just after it writes system data and starts to install the .apk's. Screen goes black and it reboots itself and sends me to recovery.
thoughts?

actually you can search your pc temp folder for the romu.zip while the exe is running
This is the instructions posted by Scotty85
I'm just re-posting it for you
Quote:
http://androidforums.com/t-one-all-t...ml#post5864243
Quote:
here is how you extract rom.zip:
Quote:
the .exe utilities can be finicky,so if you have trouble getting it to run, you can extract "rom.zip" in the following manner:
-start the utility
-check the "i understand" box to move on to the next screen
-hide the utility temporarily out of site
-search your C drive for "rom.zip". you will find it in a temporary location(it will be in a different spot each time you run the utility)
-open the folder location, and transfer rom.zip to a safe location on your PC.
-unhide and cancel the utility, youre done with it.
-rom.zip can be flashed using
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
fastboot flash zip rom.zip (yes do this 2 times)
fastboot reboot
Quote:
here are some directions to flash "rom.zip"
if youre working with a booted, operational phone, you can flsh the file in the following manner:
-open a cmd window
-change to adb/fastboot directory
cd c:\foldername
(cd c:\mini-adb if youve used any of my guides )
-place the zip file you want to flash into adb/fastboot directory
-enable usb debug, disable fastboot, plug in phone
-check for connectivity
adb devices (should return serial number)
-boot to fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
-check for connectivity again
fastboot devices
-flash the file
fastboot erase cache
fastboto oem rebootRUU (will put you in ruu mode, black screen silver htc letters)
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip (will send and flash the file. dont interupt it while the cmd window shows its writinging, and the green status bar is moving on the phone screen)
*sometimes a file will fail with a pre-update error. this is normal, just enter again:
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip
and this time it will finish
-when you get "finished" and "OK"
fastboot reboot-bootloader (takes you back to fastboot)
-reboot back to the OS
fastbooot reboot
you can use this if you dont have an operational phone as well. you just need to manually put the phone in fastboot(select from hboot menu) then skip the "adb" commands and start with fastboot devices
to answer your other question, yes, you will need to re-unlock and re-install recovery after running the RUU. an ruu is designed as an "unroot" solution, or emergency fix,if other attempts have not made the phone operational.

first of all you must be on android version 4.1.2 you are on 4.4.2 and you also must downgrade your hboot version to 1.44 for sim unlock to work... i also had the same problem i was on 4.3 and hboot 1.55 i downgraded it to 4.1.2 and sim unlocked the phone... to downgrade try this RUU http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22926241640219526
Download the zip, place it in the folder where your ADB and fastboot is. Once you have it downloaded and in your ADB/fastboot folder,
From fastboot you need to first re-lock your bootloader
fastboot oem lock
Once locked it will boot back into bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Now your booted to the black HTC screen. Make sure your Rom.zip file is in your adb/fastboot folder
fastboot flash zip Rom.zip
This takes a couple minutes and you will most likely get a error
(pre-hboot update: please flush immediately)
Make sure device is still in ruu mode(black HTC screen). If not rerun
fastboot oem rebootRUU
now simply reflash the rom.zip
fastboot flash zip Rom.zip
Let it run and it should finish this time
It will reboot to a fully stock build.
just remember, anytime you get a "flush immediately" error, just make sure your still in ruu mode and reflash the zip.
The most common error is typically
(Error 155)
You did not re lock your bootloader first
-go relock and flash again:good:

Need Help!
Hey guys i'm getting an active cmdline over flow on my Sprint Htc One that i sim unlocked to use on a GSM network. Sadly along with that i'm constantly dropping and reconnecting to the network.
It appears that my mmcblk0p19 seems to be corrupted.
So my question is can anyone who has a Sprint Htc One PN072 pull the misc partition from their phone and upload it so that i may compare and fix mine?
in custom recovery, do the following adb commands:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p19 of=/tmp/mmcblk0p19_bak.img
adb pull /tmp/mmcblk0p19_bak.img
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

huh.. finally u did it... congratulations.. but the network problem seems to exist in all the phones i presume... even tough the network tower is near my home i only get 3-4 bars max...
Does that above also apply to me??
My bootloader is unlocked with H-Boot 1.56, I'm S-off, rooted and TWRP recovery. I'm on the 6th rom I've flashed (Tried CM 11 Nightly, CM 10 Snapshot, Stock Deodexed rooted 4.1.2, 4.4.2, MIUI, Viper Rom) and I've been working on this device for about 48 hours non-stop. I am NEED of assistance if ANYONE can offer it.
Does this sim unlock also work for phones that are currently registered on Sprints network? Like the account is still active? I've got a Sprint HTC one I've performed the Sim Unlock attempting to use my T-Mobile sim, but it says will "Emergency Calls Only." And "Searching for network/No Service" I've got a red X where the signal bars are. Of course No text, no voice and no data. I've gone into the *#*#4636#*#* service menu and changed the settings to WCDMA, but NO dice. Yes, I went to mobile settings, searched for service and nothing appears, just a blank screen! The phone does recognize my Sim card and even shows my cell number and IMEI, UICC as well. I've even attempted to change RUIM settings in DFSCDMA Tool. I have changed the radio around about 5 different times with NO fix. I have searched high and low on these forums and haven't found anyone that can help me.

[Q] HTC One bricked

So I was messing around with ROMs for my HTC one and I have destroyed my phone ;(
I think I forgot to update firmware before installing a new ROM and now I can't get past the fastboot page. It doesn't power on, it goes directly to the fastboot page, and no matter what button I push, it vibrates, shows the "HTC Screen " for about 2 seconds, then re-directs straight back to the fastboot page, I can't even get in to the recovery, any suggestions?

What OS do you have on your pc. If Windows, what is the phone listed as in device manager. It should be "MY HTC" If its Unknown you need to fix your drivers.
Maybe its a problem with adb itself, What exactly is the problem. Any error messages?

got adb to work
Download the correct ruu for your device, check that the mid's and Cid's match.
There's a lot of guides that tell you how to flash ruu's

Ok so your device is Sprint. Since its been some time like this it could be difficult to figure out exactly what went wrong so it is best to start by returning the device to stock with and ruu. You should be able to use this one
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407573774
Download and unzip it you should get a windows .exe file.
Reboot your device to the bootloader and connect your usb cable. The phone should be in fastboot usb mode. In the command window type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Wait for it to reboot and go back to fastboot usb then run the ARU.exe. It will return your device to stock.
If you get problems running the ruu let me know. It may be necessary to flash a firmware package to get it to run, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it :good:
First of all, thank you so much for all your help on this, means a lot.
Now, I did the fastboot commands, but the ruu program freezes whenever I run it after it starts sending the updates

Do you have HTCSync installed. If so uninstall it but leave drivers installed. Reboot and run the RUU again
Nope, no HTCSync installed
also, fastboot works but adb doesn't which is weird

It depends how your using adb. Fastboot works only in the bootloader.
Adb works only in recovery mode.
As I suspected you'll need to flash the firmware before the ruu will run. Give me a moment link and instructions to follow . If the bootloader is still relocked leave it that way. It needs to be relocked to flash the firmware also.
Edit:-
Download this firmware zip and put it in your fastboot folder. Rename it "firmware.zip"
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407573774
Reboot the phone into the bootloader and connect fastbootusb. In the fastboot command line type.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
**---case sensitive ---^^^
Your phone will reboot to a black screen with silver HTC logo. This is ruu mode we can now flash the firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The first flash is just a pre-update. The screen will go off and then return to ruu mode. Flash the zip again immediately.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The second flash will flash the firmware, the progress bar on the screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command line has finished it's output it's done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
with the phone still in the bootloader connected with fastboot usb run the RUU exe on your pc.
After that your software will be completely stock. You should also be able to update with OTA updates Let me know how that goes :good:
dont think that's the right link, thats the link to the RUU

I can't seem to get my UK Sim card to work in the phone while it's stock, is there a ROM you would recommend flashing to fix that?

Sorry I'm not sure how to make that work, I have no first hand experiance with Sprint devices. I know there designed to use a CDMA network. And that they can be used on a GSM Network but I've no idea how to get that to work.
Hopefully someone will come along who does. Maybe @clsA @alray or @nkk71 can help with that?

HTC One M7 Boot Loop With Line of Distorted Pixels At Boot?

Ok, I'm obviously new here, so I'm hoping someone might be kind enough to help. I have a T-Mobile HTC One M7 that seems to be stuck in a boot loop and shows a pixelated/distorted line of pixels right under the "htc" logo at boot. The bootloader is unlocked and I have TWRP recovery 2.8.4 installed - I can flash any recovery and send ROMs via adb no problem, but when the phone goes to reboot to complete the ROM set up is when the problem occurs. What's strange is I was running Android Revolution HD 91.1 just fine before this happened - it first happened after I tried to install AdAway. As it is now, I can boot into bootloader or recovery and can navigate just fine, but if I try to simply start up the phone as normal it goes into the bootloop and shows the distorted line of pixels at the htc boot screen. I've tried wiping everything, tried TWRP recovery 2.8.5, tried a couple different ROMs, and the results are the same. Really hoping someone might be able to help. Some information from the bootloader that might help:
S-ON
HBOOT-1.57.0000
OS-6.10.531.10
Also I'm using a Mac (but also have an HP Stream 7 Windows 8.1 tablet if that might help?) Please help!!

Thanks for the response - So I just flash the RUU from TWRP? Or how do I flash it? Sorry, not very knowledgeable about all this.

Ok, well I ran the RUU program from a Windows machine and it just fails. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I'm wondering what the line of distorted pixels as shown in the picture might mean?

Tried it one last time before tossing the phone for good - failed again, then tried again and it worked! (Again I was using an HP Stream 7 tablet with a USB hub for everything, could have been part of the problem) Thank you so much for your help - gotta admit, this custom ROM stuff might not be for me. Thanks again.
