I'm having problems with "android system" I have tried all the things like disable al google syncs, wipe cache etc.. but nothing... I don't know what's happening... can someone help me?
I think that the prlblem is solved uninstalling "health" app
How do you uninstall it?
edit: found it out. How would you reinstall it if you wanted?
How do you know that is the problem? This is making me question my battery life. If I am not playing games it should last a lot longer I think. Maybe the screen is using most of it. I am using an app to monitor which apps take up battery

Hi, currently running CM10.1 on my i9305 and am getting a big battery drain from kernel wakelock mdm_hsic_pm0. Done some searching around and can only find out that its connected to something called Fast Dormancy?
Anyone know how I can solve this problem or explain what this is so I can try and fix whatever is causing it?
Thanks in advance! :good:

Have the same issue. Means my phone rarely goes under 9% battery drain per hour.
The only information I've found on the problem has been off this other forum - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=23643509 - where someone states that
mdm_hsic_pm0 is to do with network traffic, so something might be using data in the background or something.

I don't know anything else though. After reading the above, I thought it might be to do with my battery management app (the issue has remained with both JuiceDefender and GreenPower) monitoring traffic and during off data if traffic drops below a certain amount. Maybe the traffic monitoring is causing wakelocks whenevery it's checking?

I had the same issue on the i9305....thought i m not even on a 3g network...its a pain why samsung is always trying to making things more difficult in their products. S2 had fastdormancy but you could toggle it off in the *#9900* menu but S3 does not. Anyway i fixed my issue that cause a massive drain too, but let me say that fast dormancy and mdm_hsic_pm0 wakelock are different. once i fixed the fastdormancy i got this one to worry about. i suggest you go over to youtube and search in the field : "fastdormancy erica griffin"....she has about a 10min video that explains the fastdormancy in the first 5 mins and how to check if ur service provider has it on your network and how to turn it off....that did the trick for me
Heads up: shes using a i9300 but the same thing goes for the i9305 (yes including the app in the google store that you'll have to download by the name fastdormancy i9300 toggle switch--->works just fine on my i9305!) and youll have to be rooted first....
FYI theres another tutorial how to turn it off but that involves tasker and is best left to the developers (i didnt understand one bit of that coding so i suggest you stick to erica's video. shes done a great job...)
I still don't understand how to fix since you said its not related to fast dormancy

Hi. I replied to another thread regarding this issue, but I have the same problems and I can share my thoughts on the matter here.
From what I understand (and read from another forum - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=23643509), mdm_hsic_pm0 is to do with your phone monitoring network traffic. In this sense, it could very well be related to FastDormancy.
Through my experience with the problem (which is about a month of use now), I've found that restarting your phone fixes the problem until something unknown sets it off again. After a restart, my phone will sit on ~2% - 3% usage per hour and then once this problem starts, my phone doesn't seem to enter sleep. No idea why.
I was able to remedy a big part of the problem by installing Greenify and having it hibernate apps like, Google+, Facebook and WhatsApp. No solution though.

From my experience apps have nothing to do with it, I tested with a clean install, not even google account set! Those wakelocks are still happening on 3G, but not on Wi-Fi. I'm trying a stock rom now to see what changed... the situation is just horrible, I have "android system" using more power than "screen". On my S4 on a 3h screen and all day usage on 3g "android system" is at the bottom
Never found a solution in the end. Tried everything, wiped and started again.... Deleted all apps... Etc etc. Switched to the rextreme ROM and the problem has completely disappeared. Battery performance is now amazing. Still a shame though as I use cm on a few other devices without any issue. Rextreme is good but not as good as stock jelly bean.
If anyone every finds a solution, post it in here so I can find it and switch back
I found that by editing the build.prop file in system with a manual command worked for me.
Not my own idea, but by putting the code ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=0 at the end of build.prop worked.
Seems to work fine on all 4.2.2 aosp ROMs I've tried.
Just save it and reboot. Root explorer works fine for this task.
Hello ,

Thank you for reading this! if you can help me out please leave a message!
Greetings

You probably have a rogue app. Search, this has been asked a lot. Install Gsam or better battery stats or wakelock detector. Make sure you also install it as a system app if you're running kitkat.

Tnx for ur reaction
Yes, I meansan app that stops your phone from sleeping.
Installing as a system app... It'll probably ask you, or it's in the settings. You'll figure it out if you try.

The most active app is system: wakeclock
Any idea how i can get my notification light working?
Grtz
I got my nexus Monday and have noticed terrible battery, I know it's not broken in yet but I installed gsam. Sure enough I have a wake lock, I believe that's for music but I'm not playing music. I do have a pebble, but I don't think it should cause it.
I'm stock rooted, still encrypted
Seems to be a bug with it not releasing media wakelocks. I have the same issue. Any media app (pandora, youtube, podcasts, etc) will get a wakelock when being used but closing them isn't releasing the lock. A reboot clears it up but definitely an issue.

Well that's pretty lame, I'll give it a try thanks
I have this exact wakelock at times and along with the "Mobile Radio Active" issue between certain apps i don't hardly use and the Mobile Radio stays active 3-4x my total screen on time
Other than a reboot i can't get it to go away!

Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
yeah i've uninstalled all media apps and froze some more that haven't fixed it. Just not sure what it is.
I'm close to giving up on this
Any updates?
1) I give up
2)its always my top app drainer
3)I don't know how much it really sicks out of the battery but it is annoying.
4) here are my results
5)I will continue to monitor threads like these in hope
Have a goodnight guys. Here's my stats from today.
Very similar issue for me
I think I may have fixed mine. I'm on pure shamu beta 2.9. When I first installed it I didn't have the adspd drain. After installing all my apps I had it. I tried uninstalling a bunch of apps to see if it was one of them but that didn't work. I think its a problem with installing a custom kernel. I have been able to reliably stop the drain by going into recovery, flashing my kernel (I've tried with lean and sensei) and making sure to wipe dalvik and cache before rebooting. I've tried installing without wiping dalvik and cache and the drain comes back.

It's an issue on the stock kernel as well. Wiping dalvik (which no longer exists) and cache have no impact on the kernel in any way.

It may be just the act of resetting and doing the app upgrading after the dalvik/cache wipe even though I have only been able to reproduce it after installing a kernel. And have only tried it on the pure shamu ROM. Just letting y'all know what worked for me. I don't understand android well enough to know why or what this is. Haven't heard any other solutions though.
Pure shamu is the only ROM or stock image that it hasn't started up immediately for me. Most people don't see it if they don't install the gsam root companion.
Hey guys. If anyone knows how to fix it. Please point me in the direction and or other topics that have talked about this. It doesn't happen when phone is awake but when the phone sleeps. It comes up in full force. I don't have nfc/sync off and no xposed.. I have 2 apps installed. Xda and a game. I use riverrom v9. I've talked to others who have issues (not rom related) if I restored data from lp. My device wouldn't sleep. But fresh install it does. But the above mentioned still happens.
Recently went to CM14 from CM13, did a clean install of it, but in the last few days, my phone has been getting REALLY hot, and the battery is draining completely in about 2 hours. Right now, I'm trying to see what's the best way to find out the culprit. Checked the running apps, and there's nothing unusual. Just facebook, whatsapp etc. Any suggestions as to how to start finding out what's causing it?
edit:
ok so I've made some progress by changing apps to be battery optimised and clearing the cache from a few apps. New question, if I wipe cache/dalvik from twrp, does it clear the cache from all apps?
Try installing a custom kernel... The same heating issue i have been experiencing in cm14.1 has been resolved through this...
