i dont man i think shes screwed
It is tough to understand what exactly happened but to me it sounds like he downloaded an older firmware rev and then took an OTA, which generally leads to the exact problem, a brick.

Hi
I need urgent HELP.... Its my new Moto G 2nd Generation which I brought around 1 month ago. I was trying to encrypt my phone using the option in settings. It went perfectly fine till it shows 100% . Then it got switched off and now no response. I tried charging it up. Not working. Then tried to get into recovery by pressing power button and Volume + also Power and Volume -. No change. Did I bricked my phone? What shall I do? Its still in warranty, so giving the phone to service center helps?

Did you enter recovery before? Look at the following video and see if you can enter recovery:
Thanks for the reply.....
Thanks for your fast reply. I tried the same method but it didn't work at all. I kept my phone at home and after I came back from my office I just plugged it to give it a try. I guess my battery was fully drained, when I plugged it charging screen appeared. A small hope came and I kept pressing the power button and Volume down for sometime and in between Volume up also. I guess Its my lucky day today, phone booted into recovery screen and I just selected normal power up option and I got all my data back. ..... You don't have an option to take your battery out and put it again. Other wise I won't be facing this situation....... Thanks for all.
you always hard reboot your phone by long pressing power button.
Tried to downgrade to 4.4.4 today using Moto's stock recovery image files. Ended up bricking my phone instead. The phone will boot up and then start to show the boot animation, but then it will shut off about half way through the process. When I plug it in to a computer, It's recognized as "MTP USB Device". What can I do? Thanks in advance.
Was able to get into bootloader. Please delete thread.
What did you do?
Hey man, sorry for post in this topic, but what did you do for get access in bootloader again? I had the same problem and my mobilephone isnt turning on. Only one time the green led was turned on but now isnt recognizing nothing.
The mobile is identified in PC like "USB MTP Device". How can I (re)flash a new version in my moto x?
See you

To get into bootloader while the phone is turned off, hold volume down and power for 10 seconds then release the power button only while keeping volume pressed.

thanks, but this command isnt working.
when I press the buttons, nothing works.
the phone is just warming and the screen is black.
If it is warming, it is not off. You need to turn it off to use the buttons.

So....
I think I hard bricked my 1st gen moto x. I was in the process of unlocking the bootloader using motorolla's guide and everything was going fine. i had the "unlock..." (or "unlocked..." i forget what it actually said) showing on my screen and just out of habit, i hit the power button as i put the phone down.
now, nothing.
nothing at all. no recovery mode, no nothing. does anyone have any suggestions? i've tried holding down power and vol down for 5 min. i've tried pushing random buttons. i've tried praying to the motorolla gods.
Is your phone the developer edition?

Press and hold the volume down button simultaneously with the power button for about 5 seconds then release. Can you get into bootloader mode?

This sounds like a hardware failure, maybe a battery failure or a charging port failure. Like someone else suggested, try a different charger and see what happens.
Is it still under warranty?

His warranty is void unless it's a dev edition

Depends on the state - in many states in the US, a manufacturer cannot void a warranty if the product failure/defect has nothing to do with why the manufacturer wants to void the warranty.
Since unlocking a bootloader has nothing to do with a battery failure, in those states where the law is as I stated above, Motorola cannot void the warranty. Now the average Joe may not know this and may not know how to sue Motorola if they won't honor the warranty, but if you do know this and do know how to file a small claims case against Motorola, then you would win in those states.
So it is not across the board true that you void your warranty if you unlock your bootloader and don't have a dev ed. It depends on the state and what is wrong with your phone.
Happened once to my Galaxy Nexus, solved with Odin. I don't know if there's such thing for Motorola devices :/
Odin can reconize the phone when powered off, that's why it worked.
i had no fastboot, recovery or battery icon when plugged to charger

Keep it plugged in, if it is totally drained, it will not turn on for a while until it gets charged to a safe level. Then after awhile on the charger, try to get into bootloader mode.

Unfortunately I have been charging it for a day now and nothing. I think I need to try that RDS lite fix or moto x flasher tool. Only problem is I don't have a windows computer with admin access, so trying to borrow one.

That is the first to.e hearing Odin being used on a nexus. That is interesting. I always thought odin was for Samsung only.

Good point. I have the old gnex. I just always used fastboot. Never read about anyone using Odin the whole time I used it. Always learn something new!
Same thing just happened to me. It was displaying blue "unlock..." then just froze. Absolutely nothing, just a black screen. Can't get into any bootloader or recovery. I really hope this phone is not totally screwed now. Any of you guys have any luck?
Hello guys im kinda crazy about this
i have a moto x xt1058 and it had a bad camera so i bought the replacement and i open the phone carefully like the video and i did the replacement then when i started to reassemble it i connected the battery before connecting power and volume buttons to the phone so i connected them when my phone auto started and it booted well in android 5.1 stock when i put the battery, then i finish the reassembly but i realized that my buttons were not working so i connected my phone to adb and i put adb reboot then it boot normaly but only volume buttons were working, power button was not working. then i open it only to see the buttons flex and it was connected good and didnt damage it. so i rebooted again with adb and surpirse phone after logo shows a black screen, and only active display was showing, i connected to pc and didnt recognize nothing then the battery died and actually its charging. i cant boot to fastboot because i dont know why power button doesnt work
What Can i DO, please i cant take it to repair it is too expensive. it had all stock 5.1 with unlocked bootloader.
sorry for my english, isnt my first language.
I would let it die again or power it off as you can , remove the camera replacement, put buttons and then battery back, see if phone works again.

This is a hardware issue. Sounds like you damaged the cable to the power button even if you think you did not.
