Moto X Play custom made BOOT LOGOS showcase - X Play Themes and Apps

It all started by replacing the unlock warning, but soon I discovered that just replacing the stock, white boot logo was not enough for me. Not even just a black background with a simple white logo was enough for me. In the beginning, I've struggled looking for a nice custom boot logo coming out from XDA forums, or any other sources we're I could find em available. There's a plethora of the same and a few nice custom ones, but... none is me. So I've started making my own. Nothing new about boot logos, but these are my vision. With the right tools and a lot of patience, you can achieve whatever the boot logo you want. Only problem is deciding which one to use since you can easily end up with a number of great looking ones. I've decided to first post some of the latest I've put together in order to encourage and promote creativity among Moto X Play or any other device users. Here...
BTW, this is not just to show. Ultimately, it could be not just for X Play. Let's also create and share some of our boot logo stuff.

X play is not lenovo branded then why u add lenovo name ? And oru phn is not Nexus device then for what that name ?

Actually, all of today's moto devices are Lenovo made since 2014, X Play included. The Nexus stuff is just because I like it. Anyway, changing things is quite very easy to do. In fact you can put whatever you want as a boot logo, from a Tom & Jerry image to a pic of your lovely pet. Thankfully, there is no rule commanding how things should be done or what we should put in there...

I didn't say that. If you read carefully, I'm not blaming you for commanding anything, just saying there are no rules, we can do whatever we want with boot logos, boot animations, etc... that's all

Here, some easy samples (previous were more elaborated and time consuming) of what you can use as a boot logo instead of the same boring image all of the time (no brand connection or advertising, made just for fun):

We'll there are some very capable image editors for Android in Play Store, thus you don't have to resort to a computer. I'm getting used to Autodesk's Pixlr, but there is also Aviary, which has been recently updated with more tools than those of Pixlr. For the logo.bin conversion, there is "Motorola Boot Logo Maker" (found here on XDA) which is a breeze to use, but requires a PC. To flash it into your phone, you also need a computer and I suggest "Minimal ADB & Fastboot" to perform. No animations, as far as I know, can be used as boot logos, mostly because of size, format conversion or both; but I haven't tried either. Mine loaded the same, but it got me bored so fast and white background is too flashy for my eyes... What do you like to have as a boot logo?

I just downloaded an app from the play store and just used the rainbow Motorola logo as the boot up and this generic animation of some blue light. Do you know if we can have sounds for our animations???

Here's a bootlogo I made for those who are running Dirty Unicorn rom .https://db.tt/r0Y0p3cR

anyone know if we can have sound on ours??!

You mean 'sound' on boot logo? Well, I'm pretty sure we can't. Just for (obviously) boot animations

Boot animation Android eating apple

Since this new talk of the Iphone 5 I want to annoy my apple fan base friends with this boot animation. I know there are people that have done this on their other devices just don't know how to do it for the HTC VIVID.
Would anyone tell me how to load this boot animation to our phones?

What did you do after the root?

So, as most of you know a root for the AHD came out yesterday. I wanted to say thank you to everyone that worked hours and hours on getting the root, even though Dan gets the money lol. But there are many new comers to android out there, including myself. Coming from the iphone I can tell you everything you can do once you jailbreak and iDevice, but what all have you guys done after you rooted your device. I have owned one android and played around for a while on many, but most of which were completely unlocked and had new roms installed ect. ect. So I thought it would be a good idea for people to be able to post what all they have used the root for so far, so maybe we can use those ideas and make this phone even more awesome.
The first thing I did do was calibrate my battery and have noticed a little bit better life today than I do most days.
I also uninstalled some of AT&T's annoying bloatware (which IMO belongs on NO phone)
So share what you did and give some ideas to all the readers!!!
Thanks again Dan for the root and I know Matt worked for hours and hours on it, so I would like to thank you too

Great thread idea!
First i removed att bloatware/unused ringtones and notifications
Changed boot animation
Gave already owned apps root permissions to do things like one touch reboot, auto dpi changing.
And right now I'm working on changing the color of my softkeys
Underclocked.
Once i get home from my business trip i plan on porting cwm and seeing what we can do from there

Lol I was thinking the same thing. The EB40 is an awesome upgrade and I def considering it. I just am at home and work where my phone can be charged all of the time anyways. Not to mention once we get some bloat free roms that run more efficiently, the EB20 should be okay.
After rooting,I install RootExplorer,SQ Lite,Titanium Backup,etc.
Unlocking stock wifi tethering and enabling stock sms delivery reports.

I'm new to the G-Flex but not to Android or Linux.

Just wanna introduce myself. I'm Matt, and I just picked up my G-Flex yesterday at T-Mobile. This is my first LG but not my first android. I've been rooting, unlocking, modding, theming, bricking, and recovering androids since the DROID 2 days. I'm not claiming to be a dev, but I do know my way around android/ Linux. I am a crack flashing android whore. I was on the RAZR maxx when it came with Gingerbread 2.3.4 and stuck with it through JB 4.1. Moved on to the RAZR HD MAXX on ICS 4.0.4 and followed a couple of the best devs Hashcode and Dan Rosenberg. Was one of the first to profit from Dan's RAZR HD MAXX bootloader exploit. Big props to the first ever to crack a Motorola bootloader.
Shortly after I moved on to the Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337. I can't count the soft bricks I recovered from before Loki and Odin files where released. Bad thing was my phone being rooted was able to be my hot spot, so when bricked I had no way to look up or ask questions. But I some how through trial and error recovered.
I now have the G-Flex on T-Mobile and within a few hours of purchase I'm rooted thanks to the IoRoot method. Thanks to the cat that posted the thread on here for that one in this same General Forum section. And needless to say I've already bricked it twice tonight. Just recovered it and got booted back up and set up.
With all that said, I'm not afraid of testing or helping with any development. I'm not afraid of brick, cuz I'm sure with all the talented devs on xda and myself, I will recover.
Luckily I made a back up of my build-props, system, and recovery so I was able to restore and push thru adb. Also wiped cache, dalvik, and system via adb. And reboot back to stock out of the box. But still a little puzzled how I kept root. Not complaining just puzzled.
If there is anyone working on a TWRP or CWM and Loki please message me and let me know what I can do to help. Like I said I'm not a dev and not claiming to be at all. I'm just brave. And mainly don't know where to start with porting a recovery much less Loki. But I can test and I take instruction well.
Hope I can help excited with the potential of the G-Flex....

nice post man:good:
I think we are pretty close to a recovery here, as a few folks are working on it.
Just like any new phone, it takes awhile for it to "catch on"; especially when all the "reviewers" have been slamming this phone for various reasons.
That makes people slow down jumping on it, but this phone is really fantastic, EPIC battery, great display, fastest phone out right now, and, the more that people ignore the idiot reviewers, and grab this thing, the sooner the development will take off.
The "problem" is that it's so awesum stock out of the box, that there isnt a sense of urgency to mod it! :victory:

I'm loving it too. I'm rooted still and have installed XPOSED installer with "App Settings", "Xtheme engine beta 5"( with HUE theme) , and "Xblast" I've got the same inverted MMS. And I used APP Settings mod to changed the system UI, stock browser, and MMS ppi to 260. And used HUE theme for that AOSP blue feel. Used xblast for nav bar color change. I like the blue / Vanilla look. I guess that's cuz I'm a product of ICS and motoblur. I'm user android tweaker to speed things up a bit and to smooth out scrolling. And Android Tuner Pro to trim on boot and manage things a little. Snap dragon's Battery guru has always made a substantial difference in battery life, but its still in initial learning so I can't give a review on it for the G-Flex. But can't wait to get custom recovery for it and feel lot more comfortable diving into the modding/theming a good bit more.
I've noticed the stock launcher and settings, well really most the stock lg apps are very similar to Touchwiz. I've already tried out the Google Now launcher and "OK Google" does work from the home screen. You don't have to hit or exe any part of Google to be able to take advantage of the hot word command.

fortunately, many of the smarter folks out there, that use XDA, dont pay alot of attention to what a bunch of DB reviewers think about phones..I had a one maxx b4 this, and it too was a great phone, slammed by most reviewers.
this phone is tons of fun, and we're pretty close to custom recovery, and a flood of roms.
Yes I have. The hack with SQL by going to settings storage/settings/ then change the authorization line (forgot exactly what it was called. I would know it if I saw it) from a 1 to a 0? Yeah I went looking for it. The way I understand it is they have figured out how to make that one obsolete. Seems as if its a little deeper into the their end of the monitoring rather than the phone just check account subscription. But I using the good ole "WIFI Tether beta 5" apk from a couple years ago and it seems to work. Hasn't added any more data to my WiFi tether usage. And yeah man I remember you. And droidrzr.com. those were the days when I was a crack flasher and barely knew my way around a RAZR. Don't know how many of those I bricked by not reading you couldn't install custom recovery except safe strap unless you had dev edition. Lmao. The RAZR forums always had cool devs willing to help and teach. I went to the GS4 and wow it was like a an ego fueled pissing contest between the biggest smart a$$e$ on the web. No one seemed to want to help just wanted to argue or try to point out that you don't know crap and they know it all. Glad to be out of their forums. And glad to see all these cats on the g flex forums have all been super cool and helpful.
They way it should be.

[Q] Inverted colors, no WiFi and broken boot animation

Hey guys, I've just very recently flashed a stock Rom onto my Moto X due to some problems. Unfortunately, when I booted up the phone, the boot animation is all messed up, there are large black rectangles on the screen in a pattern and then the circle dome is no more, just a bunch of coloured lines.
That was all right I guess but when the phone finally booted up completely, the colours are all inverted apart from the blacks and whites. I also can't turn WiFi on. As soon as I click it to turn it on, it just instantly reverts back to off
I don't know how to fix it and I thought maybe it was the stock Rom but I flashed back to recovery again through Moto X Toolkit but it was all just the same again. I've also tried to factory reset to no avail. Any help would be great as I was planning to give it to my little brother.
Thanks guys!

Bootloader unlock for S6 SM-G9250

So, according to drakon.us, Samsung has provided factory bootloader unlocker in the Samsung App store.
Search for "CROM Service", You can see the process here:

I'm in preorder hell waiting for my gold S6E from Verizon so I can't verify independently. Is this something we can use?
Seems it's not showing up in the US Store. I'll see if anyone I know in that region can grab the app for us. Might be worth looking into.
So there was a link here to a place to find the app, then poof it magically disappeared. LOL gotta love how that happens. Regardless, the app that was linked did not work, it downloaded and installed fine, but when trying to open it, it just force closes.

So is there a way to make this work .... FC for me after installing
Well like I said earlier, I'm trying to relearn all this after not using it for six or so years... My intuition tells me that this tool is invaluable, and we know it is functional as we've seen on a Galaxy Tab, it does install and load, but after the disclaimer, it FC's. This is telling me it is probable that the device is simply failing a version or class checker.
If that is true, depending on how this was created, the source can be altered to work with our devices. What's critical here is that these are official Samsung apps; we're not recreating the wheel here. What we're doing is looking at an unencrypted tool that was designed specifically for the purpose of unlocking our device. That's why I posted these to Hacking/Dev. While I am starting almost from square one, someone who is familiar with the environment and scripting language would be far ahead of me on the curve.
Will it work out of the box? Nope, but there is the potential it can be made to work.

Good lord I hope you or someone else gets it to work. There's hope!
Decompiled the apk and explored around a little, heres the strings.xml. Just wanting to share what it shows.
I really hope this goes somewhere. If this gets ported than I will be so thankful. If there is anything I can do to help I would but I have not much experience with programming
Title is misleading. I would edit it
Done.
Any updates on progress or is it completely dead?
By the looks of it you can get it to work you just need to obtain root first... Which means it serves no use seeing as the phones that have root are already bootloader unlocked

But phones with locked BL's can be rooted given the right tool is created. And if it is then once rooted we can unlock our BL's and flash Roms like everyone else.

Root doesn't guarantee any bootloader unlock. If that was true, then every phone with root would have an unlocked bootloader, which isn't the case.
Root would be nice, but without an unlocked bootloader I see many bricks happening from inexperienced users pushing things too far and not knowing a way out.
