Question, I have an s6 edge and and S6 active. I am not a developer and don't know much about the software side, but I am experienced with the hardware side and am very comfortable with taking these phones apart. My question is, can I pull apart my active and my edge and swap the larger battery from the active into the edge? Will the software cause a problem? I am not positive yet that it will work physically, but I am willing to give it a go. I just don't want to bother trying if it may already be a known fact that the battery needs software to be fully utilized. I hope that was not a confusing question.
Must likely not, the active is bigger in size than the edge.

Looking at each teardown video, don't appear to be the same size or the same connector. I'd say you're out of luck. I've had my S6 edge open, they're not hard to get apart.
Hello,
Does anyone know if there is something like the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ Keyboard Cover but for the S6 Edge?
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EJ-CG928UBEGUS
Thanks!
if you like a 3" screen i guess. looks like it cuts a good little bit off the bottom
Yes there is, but apparently only in the US: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B3DIYJ6/
EDIT: Mine arrived today and works perfectly with my European Edge. The buttons y/z are where they should be positioned according to my local keyboard layout (DE-de), not where they actually are (EN-us).

That's not a problem at all because you can easily take the keyboard off and stick it to the back of the phone anytime.
But even if I had to choose, I'd rather have a HW keyboard and a smaller screen than a bigger screen and these useless, crappy touch keyboards most people strangely got used to.
For the record: Your beloved touch keyboards also cut off a big portion of your screen (which was always one of the minor arguments against touch keyboards btw), so it's a rather hypocritical argument against the keyboard cover.
ATM I'm running a S7 edge with Tmobile.. Wife just shattered her screen on her S7 edge so I'm thinking about swapping over to a 3T and give her my s7 edge.. How is this phone comparing to the S7 edge and how does its signal strength compare to the S7 edge on the Tmobile network.. I don't do pics that much so that doesn't matter to me..

Somebody already reporting speed issue on T-Mo here, the rest IDK.
S7 edge has better hardware, but I think the 3T will have a better software experience. It really comes down to what you use your phone for.
Reasons to get the S7 Edge = better camera, better screen resolution, expandable storage, bigger battery, IP68 waterproof, wireless charging
Reasons to get the 3T = 6GB ram, no TouchWiz, audio DAC, aluminum build, dual nano sim, USB-C, DASH charging

Build is definitely better on S7 edge..I have both
I personally just got rid of the s7e and got this phone. Honestly the best decision I have made in a long time. So far I have zero issues with tmo service. And this thing is so fast in comparison to the s7e. I don't miss the higher resolution screen much at all since I didn't do any vr. It's built great so no complaints there either.

I also have the S7 Edge and I just bought the 3T. Software is much snappier and better IMO
on the 3T. I did not use the wireless charging and I bought the 128GB version of the 3T so
expandable storage didn't matter. As a matter of fact trying to delete stuff off the micro sd
card was a pain in the butt on the S7 with the way MM handles storage. Battery is almost
the exact same size (200mah difference).
Build quality is excellent on the 3T also. I personally prefer the metal to the glass on the S7 Edge.
Both are excellent phones but having both I prefer the advantages the 3T has.
I think the metal phones are more durable when accidentally dropped compared to the all glass galaxy phones. Also the s7e and note7 are almost impossible to get a tempered class screen protector to fit properly. If you don't believe the galaxy phones are super prone to glass shattering just check ebay for the used galaxy phones and notice how many of those have damaged screens.
Well that didn't last long! So I did love my 3T but it kept turning off and rebooting all by itself even after several full restores with no apps downloaded. OnePlus couldn't guarantee that they'd send me a new sealed unit so I have to return this one for a refund. Back to the S7 edge!
Another S7 edge to OnePlus 3 and now OnePlus 3T swap here!
As others have say the overall experience on the OnePlus if superior than the one on the S7 edge, it feel faster and more consistent day to day, battery life is comparable with the 3T.
The only stuff that the S7 edge beat the OnePlus is the Waterproofing and Wireless charging, Screen resolution is a wash is your are not in VR.
I also came from the S7 edge to the One plus. It is a dlfar better experience. The only advantage in my view is the camera on the S7 is unbelievable. But as other have said the performance and experience is far better on the OnePlus. I dont have any regrets so far.

S7's glass built is superior to OnePlus 3's aluminium chassis? LOL! This world never ceases to wonder me.
Just the camera experience would be really different, don't know about signal strength for your carrier and stuffs.
Hey guys I am moving from a Note Edge (the orginal curved phone, aka Note 4 Edge). One functionality I really liked with the edge screen on that device was that all notifications showed up on the edge screen. This way you could disable the annoyinhg headsup display that blocks part of the screen when youre using your phone
My questions is, does the edge screen on this phone do that? If not, are there any mods out for that.
Going for the T Mobile version

No they do not. I wish they did I don't know why they got rid of that. I have not seen any mods like that. Especially since the SD does not have root yet.

That really grinds my gears lol. ARRGHGHH. I got so used to relying on the edge so i don't have to break what I'm doing or swipe.
Samsung makes decisions that boggles the mind. I'm so sad. The Edge had the best functionality i've ever used
Here"s something that's close. You can choose which app notifications you want to show up. But you still need to rely on the notification panel for the alert. The notifications will only show up in the edge panel, it won't alert you from the edge panel.

Yes, I think I had these useful items on the S6 edge also. Favourite was the always on clock on the edge display and notifications as well as some some scrolling news feeds.
I could be wrong but perhaps that was possible due to the more aggressive curved edges that the Note 8 doesn't possess? So far the curved edges on the Note 8 has for me been useless, if anything a hindrance.

Yeah the masses (as is always the case) complained about the aggressive curve. Instead of samsung sticking with it and forcing people to get used to it (whichis what apple does) they amde the curve completely almost useless. Its completely aesthetic now.
I wouldnt need to move up from my Note Edge except for all the new 7.0 touchwiz additions

I agree totally. The edge screen is nothing but useless now, and a hindrance due to screen protectors also.

Looking to buy S8 as it is comparatively more compact & cheaper.
How is the overall quality of LCD on S8? Does it have any accuracy issue like warm tone?
Thanks

S8 has got TFT panel instead of OLED like s8+ and S8 Ultra has got.
Screen quality is better than Tab s5e
(especially if your have allergy and tears on Amoled)
UPDATE: screen is amazing
Screen of S8 is good, it's a TFT screen but is consistent even in the edges of the screen. Only issue i got is that Samsung doesn't have adaptative warm tones on panels that aren't oled, also don't expect perfect blacks.
It's great. I have no complaints with it.
Great quality (Samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra ).

He is asking for s8 which hasn't oled. S8 ultra has oled. If you like oled, you don't buy s8 regardless how good is the screen, it isn't oled..
You are right Sosimple, i respond to quickly. Sorry for that.
I've a Tab S8 since some months. The screen quality is excellent. It is a LCD display , one of the best.
In the past I had also a Tab S7 plus with amoled but I like more the Tab S8 because of the size. The LCD allows also better energy consumption compared to the amoled.
I may suggest to buy also the keyboard with trackpad (the one made for tab S7 , not the recently released version without trackpad) . It is a nice accessory that transform the tablet into a semi Surface expecially in the Dex Mode.

LCD takes actually more power than amoled/oled. Since black on amoled/OLED has got leds turned off which takes less power on black areas. While LCD keeps leds on and mixes colours into more like grayish black.

What you say it's true but S8 battery life is much better than S8+ (according to what i saw on the internet), this might be cause S8 is the only one with adaptative refresh rate
