New battery, original or fake? - G2 Accessories

Hi,
Yesterday i buy new battery for my old lg g2, but i'm not sure is it original.
My New battery is non stepped like this http://tanstartrade.ca/images/LG%20BL-T7.jpg
Do you think that it could be authentic?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I just got replaced battery in service - they told me that they use original LG parts. When I checked it under the cover, it shows manufactured date 6th of January 2016. It is not allowed by antena strips and curved back cover to have thicker battery and thinner would have less capacity. You could probably try but I don't see any benefits in that.
EDIT: After few days of usage I had to get my battery replaced by the old one. May be bad luck with not properly working battery but more probably faik one (runs for 0-10 mins, weird force charging in no OS mode). When they showed me the "new" battery in service it is thinner than the original, does not have the stepped back and thus makes gap between back cover and battery itself - 2mm of medium hard press. So it was like yours - flat design - no additional stepped part. The service was not authorised service but looked legit and had plenty of good reviews. So it's my experience of flat lg battery replacement stated as original.

Be noticed that all of below information are not yet confirmed.
I discovered the difference between original and fake since searching trough forums and own experience. :victory:
Design od LG BL-T7 battery has not changed ever since. Still the only one with the stepped back side. Should look like the battery on right side of these pictures, otherwise it is nor factory replacement (aka fake):
http://i.imgur.com/2Yt8cvDh.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/hkVpceYh.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/XtEH5AQh.jpg
The main difference is in litle bulk under printing "BL-T7", arrows under the NOM icon and next right is noticeable differnce in T in that symbol, fonts differ and last letter of chineese behind the manufactured day,...
There is a believe that non-original batteries are not that bad at all, only they have poor wiring and connection port which often makes them behave unexpectedly.
How to calibrate battery after replacement or when needed here.

I replaced my battery recently, they told me that it's not the original one, its a Chinese made but works well. So far, no issue.

Where did you get that one?

Note that if you face any issue regarding charging since these batteries are years old, then feel free to contact the seller and you will get a replacement.

I bought that same battery. It had no glue residue and the year was rubbed off.
It looks genuine but I won't be able to tell until my replacement screen arrives and I can install them both at the same time.

I bought a 3950mah high capacity battery from aliexpress (so clearly not geniune but for the money I decided to give it a shot). it works fine, got my Screen on time from 2-3h to 5h or more. However, when charging, it will charge up to 95-99% and then, while still plugged in, go down to 83% and stay there. Then when I unplug it and start using it, it first goes back up to 90-95% before going back down like normal. Has anyone experienced something like this and/or know a way to fix it? I tried some battery calibration methods but no luck. Also, since the phone rarely reaches 100% (indicated) it doesnt always reset the screen on timer properly... this makes it difficult to keep accurate track of its performance. when it does work 5h seems to be the usual value.

That one sounds weird.
Definitely not normal.
Only solution is to buy another and test it or return the one you haveDefinitely and try another one

I have contacted the seller but so far they are not replying... I tried the Ampere and 3C Battery monitor the check the voltages and currents while charging. At first, I thought the phone showed the wrong percentage as it was not calibrated for the high capacity (so 80% was actually 120% relative to the standard battery capacity) but it showed that the phone was actually discharging once it reached full charge. Also, my assumption of it being 120% was wrong since the percentage probably comes from the cell voltage. So, next I checked the cell voltage using both ampere and 3C but the values were all over the place, jumping from 4.36 to 4.2 and back. this made no sense. The battery has a top voltage of 4.37 when fully charged so maybe the battery monitoring software of the phone is confused by this?
In any case I will wait for the seller to get back to me and if the problem becomes worse I will get a new battery to test out.

Thanks for the update.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hello guys, I am looking to buy new battery for my 2 and half years old g2. So here are my options:
1) Pollarcell - they says it's great battery, but still kinda expensive for a non-oem battery. It would cost me about 25e.
2) OEM LG battery - in LG official service, I have to check it they still got them, price was about 30e if I recall correctly.
3) Some random battery - I guess this is lottery.I can get good or I can get bad battery. There are many brands, and their price is from 8-9 to 15e.
OEM is best choice for sure, but I don't feel like investing 1/3 of phone price in battery, especially cause I don't know how long I will keep that phone. Dunno what to do
Edit: Did anyone tried this battery? It has quite high rating
https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/32572840069.html#autostay

Beware of Pollarcell batteries I have read cases of burning

Bought my new battery at PhonTrading24 ,
Battery is class and from new production 12/2016 .

fake or original?
I also changed my battery after 3 years at LG service however I have some questions in my mind whether battery is fake or original one. Although new battery has same capacity like old one but it doesn not last like new one ( it lasts almost a day ) Pictures are attached new and old one. What do you think guys?

It looks like the original one and it might well be. But that also means it is not new, as the production of original batteries have stopped several years back. So what you have is probably an unused but ageing battery.
Batteries start degrading the moment they are produced, just that it degrades at a slower rate being unused (depending on temperature it's stored etc), compared to it being actively used everyday.

thanks a lot for the comment. I have been using this battery for a month now and the battery ends after completing one day. As and old production not bad as you said.

Dimensions of original battery BL-T7, taken off from LG G2 : 55.4mm x 66.4 mm x 5.6 mm (thickness in the middle), Weight: 45 G.

Extended battery users info needed

I am have been thinking about getting an extended battery but all the ones i have seen have been too big. Today i found this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXTENDED-BATT...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c15e058f4#shId . I was just wondering if anyone has this particular battery and if the pictures are accurate because ive seen plenty of photoshopping ebay sellers in my time . Thanks
It is not the original one. Anyway you can try it. Not so much money. I am using the extended battery and i have to say only good works. Ok the phone becomes bigger from behind, but i can keep it now better. The feel in the hands is better i think. Also, i charge my phone every 4 days or 5. It depends on the usage. Ok you decide at the end
It fits
and works great. Easier to hold. Not to bulky and runs for days with normal use. Charged to 100% on Fri. at 2pm. Now Sunday at 10 am at 58%. Lite use.

I have heard that the power management micro-chip is located in the phone, not in battery then therefore, it would count with fixed standard battery capacity. In Vietnam, our HD2 users experienced they have to take out the extended battery and re-mount it again since the power management chip will shutdown the phone when battery discharged to apprx. 1250mAh as standard.
Any idea???
FYI, I planned to buy a extended battery then have to consult you all Appreciate your comment. My firmware is 1.66.707.1 (76641) WWE

Yes i think the phone with extended thick battery has much better grip to handle!, and it even protects the camera lens when you put it on a surface.
got same
I've got same one a little cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...27801&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1333wt_1135
It works great, but back cover is quite easy to unlock, sometimes fall off.
Anyone experienced?
I received the battery and it is A LOT thinner than i expected it to be. As other users have mentioned it makes the phone feel more secure in my hand. The kickstand is very hard to get out. (especially for me since i have very short nails). The battery is currently at 88% so ill test it tommorow and report back on how well it does.
Overall it looks like a very good product for the price and i would recommend it (if it holds up in my testing)
i've bought the same battery from a different seller...tbattery shows the same specs as the original; however, like the poster above mentioned once I took the battery out and reinsert it I got approximately another 40% out of the battery(turning the phone off and bak on will Not do it)...
first time since buying the phone I havnt had to recharge it overnight...

some people say this fixes itself after the first charge/discharge cycle and others say you have to apply htc's patch. I hope one of these is the case because i'd hate to have to be doing that all the time
Update: After fully discharging and recharging the battery i am haveing the same issue as some people. The battery discharges at a similar rate to the stock battery and when it powers off i have to take the battery out and re insert it to get the rest of the power (which is aroung 60%). Im going to try upgrading to the latest official rom to see if it helps

The HD2s we use at work have the extended battery - looks like that one. I find it makes the handset too bulky for me but most everyone else finds them more comfortable to hold. Either way extra battery life is never a bad thing - especially if you're using GPS a lot.
cover
i use a cover on mine, obviously for scratch protection.
but with the extra bulk behind, is there new covers for it?
or do you guys tske the risk from scratches
mine is a 3400mah and does not work either -.- . Did someone make it work on winmobiles ??? Really need help here !!!

Extensive Review - Mugen HD2 Extended Battery 2,600mAh

Disclaimer: I know there is already another thread on Mugen HD2 Extended Battery 2,600mAh, but I would like to state that this is an official review since Mugen has provided me with a review unit to debunk the many bad comments given concerning their battery quality. This you can read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294124.
[BACKGROUND]
I have contacted www.mugen-power-batteries.com directly after hearing many comments concerning their false claims. I was surprised that they actually responded by providing me a review unit of the 2,600mAh. It is now on the way.
My review unit will be coming in about 2 weeks time. I will try to conduct an extensive review to determine the actual worth of the battery and whether they work as advertised. I will be conducting a few tests specifically on the battery, as objectively as possible. This would cover video playing, 3G usage, full valuation of the battery charge (using battery widget pro) to name a few.
If you would like a particular test to be conducted on the battery, please state and give a few ideas below. I will be comparing them against the original 1,230mAh from HTC.
I think as faithful users of our HTC HD2, I would really want to get the best extended battery. If this provides even 90% of the advertised capacity, it is already worth the money. Anything less would be pointless.
Thank you.
Larger cell will indeed be good but 2600mAh will be higher than reality as Mugen have admitted this already in a round about way on responses to another testers results.
A new standard HTC cell & new standard size 1500mAh Mugen is the test that needs to be done.
Any chance of a sample 1500mAh review unit ?

This was response to Dougs battery testing.
Not in any way slating Mugen but the mAh ratings marked on their cells are higher than what would be achieved in any lab test.
1500mah is the one I would love to see tested side by side with genuine cell in device & technician mAh testing.
Mugen cells are ok quality but for the asking price we need total transparency on actual cell capacity ...
I have no idea how good that battery is, but I bought this one about 6 months ago and it's working very well, doesn't gain much heat and it doesn't discharge itself much. Average battery consumption in standby is 6mA. All I can do is recommend you guys this one. And cover is really strong. And it's "bit" cheaper than Mugens
[email protected]/MB434B/review_MB434B.html
looking forward to seeing your test results...i just got me a 2400mAh battery and it lasts me about 15hours under heavy use...
Hi guys,
Sorry for the silence... I just received the battery today! Give me some time to get it charged and conditioned for testing
Let me know what else you would like me to test it with.
Display use is interesting for me, such like browsing etc.
Open a browser with some ads or something and look how long the Battery live..
My Galaxy SII gets there 4,5h.
Start the Match
Idc really care about that battery. I know its fake, but is there any real battery that's better then the original stock? 1400, 1450, 1500?? Not the fat ones with the kickstand
Just an update, I am still conditioning the battery. The first charge/recharge was really pathetic, at 12 hours before it was flat (moderate-heavy use). The second charge/recharge is much improved, I am on 25 hours on (moderate use) with 25% left (taking pictures, listening to music, games, surfing, etc.). I will begin formal testing after 4 full runs to find the optimum condition.
One things I have to say is that the ROM does play a high factor. I was on Dorimanx 3.0 and somehow the governors for oc/uc is not working properly as I kept getting some high drainage. Once I reverted to 2.9, the drainage was gone and it seems to sip battery at a much, much lower rate.
So many factors!!!!
By the way, I really like the battery cover. It is not cheap like the other China made products (unlabelled). I have already 4 different covers, and while I would prefer a metal back cover, this is the 2nd best
Can You please also start the heavy display usage test?
And put some pics please
Greetings

I have a few questions which i hope you dont mind answering:-
1. How did you recondition the battery?
2. Does your kernel recognise the battery's full capacity or do you do a battery pull then it jumps back up significantly? Im facing this problem at the moment...
thank you in advance!
how long will the battery last for heavy use like playing 3d games?this is important as i use my phone for gaming most

1) I conditioning it by charging it overnight for 6-8 hours and then depleting it until it powers off (Actually, this is based on the instructions they gave in the parcel). I need to do it 5 times. Once done, I will be able to charge and stop charging when the indicator hits 100%. I basically use Battery Widget Pro (they have a feature called 'calibration'). Apparently, the battery itself states that it is 2,300mAh, but I think this is not accurate (hence the testing). You will know that the battery is fully charge when the indicator goes down to 0 (zero) mA (shows that the battery is not receiving any more charge).
2) Most cheap batteries have wrong indicators (e.g. temperature detection is not working, no indication of battery capacity). And yes, they suffer the need to 'pull the battery out first' before an additional amount is given. I bought one a while back, apparently one that has 3,000mAh. My observation is that the indicators are really gone. In fact, it will slowly go down to 50%, after which if you pull, it will give you 70%, once it goes down to 15%, it will last for a long while (30 minutes of browsing over 3G) before going down to 14%. Using that battery, I have been able to last 31 hours of moderate use (1 hour of music, 1 hour of gaming - not 3D, a few hours of browsing and a lot of photo taking). It costs only USD12 (thereabouts), which to me is the best deal yet. Down side of that battery is the very poor back battery cover. Using Battery Widget Pro (you have to charge fully and discharge until it shuts down and charge up again continuously), I got an estimated charge capacity of 1900mAh. Not bad don't you think?
The Mugen 2,600mAh easily matches my fake 3,000mAh one. The question is by how much. Sorry for the delay but my HD2 is my daily phone. So, I cant conduct full test like Engadget and other websites. But I'll do my best

Try Andida batteries. I had the 1600mAh one and it was slightly better than the original (giving me about 1300mAh). I had that a while back.
After much charging and recharging, I can confirm that the battery has about 2,200+mAh. See the attached images to see the estimated calculation using Battery Widget Pro.
Charging takes about 2 hours plus using the wall charger. The last 2% takes the longest.
As per request I ran 2 emulation apps (sorry, no 3d games), fpse & n64oid. The former ran Strider 2 while the latter ran Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Do note that I have overclocked my phone to 1.6ghz. All in all, it ran for 4.5 hours with 15% battery left. I'm pretty sure it could have clocked 5hours easily. I think that it is a good performance for 2.2kmAh battery don't you think? See the images below for a read of what other apps I was running. I managed to deplete the whole charge after nearly 10 hours of extremely heavy usage!
What do you guys think? Okay?
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
[Not the Mugen 2,600mAh Battery]
As an aside, I took and strip out the cheap battery which I bought for USD10, which claimed a 3000mAh, which only was about 2000mAh (+/- 200mAh) and took some photos of it. I can understand these extended batteries better. I am not an electronics person, but this would explain why it takes a restart to 'recognise' the 'remaining' battery on our devices.
Notice that they are basically two lower capacity batteries which are slapped together with the thin connectors and wrapped together with scotch tape.
I am not sure whether Mugen's the same, since it does not suffer from the 'restart-phone-to-get-additional-battery-reflected' scenario. However, I wonder whether there are any manufacturers who would just manufacture a genuine 2000mAh without merely slapping two products together (like in this picture). In light of this, it is much better to carry an external battery charger (anything more than 6,000mAh around!).
Anyone with electronic expertise want to comment on the pictures, please do.
Opps, forgot to add the photos of the battery and the battery cover which I mentioned. I find that after the first fall (yes, I tend to have accidents with my HD2 ... ) there is a slight creeking sound with the battery cover (nothing is chipped though). It is a rubberised battery cover, unlike the original metal cover. Still, the feel of the cover is great to the touch.
I am no longer using this device, but my dad is! It still works and have survived loads of damage... mostly dropping the device with the battery cover!

Any good 3500mAh or 3800mAh batteries for the G4

Hi
See lots of 4000+ batteries and standard 3000, but are there any good 3500 or 3800? (want to keep normal back, no added bulk)
Ones I have seen look cheap and nasty (no brand) and I have a feeling they will add nothing extra.
Anyone got a 3500/3800mAh, did you get noticeable difference, worth it?
Thanks
Its not possible to have a higher capacity (mAh) Li-ion battery without increasing its size.
I personally use the TrendON LG G4 Battery kit and have been really happy with it. While the batteries last about ~75% as long as the OEM battery, it comes with 3 (depending on the bundle you choose) and a wall charger. Really great deal and an 18 month warranty! http://www.amazon.com/TrendON-3000-Spare-Replacement-Battery/dp/B010P2BQ2S
Hope this helps!
I ordered a (supposedly...) 3500 mAh battery online. It's the same size as the stock battery. My expectations are low, most likely won't actually live up to the rating etc. Either way I'll let you know after it's in my hands and I try it out for a day or two. Hoping it doesn't turn my beloved G4 into a pile of melted plastic.

Yeah I know what you mean, the ones I have seen look so cheap and ready to do more harm than good.
If some good company would just make one around that level, but bigger than 3800 and you need new case/adds bulk.
Fingers crossed one you get is all good.

You haven't paid much attention to LIPO packs since the beginning, have you? LIPO batteries are constantly getting smaller while packing more and more current capacity. A denser battery pack is possible just as a LIPO pack with the same size dimensions having less capacity than 3000mAh
Bit shocked Mugen have not done one, I see they tested a 3100mAh, but a extra 100? is it worth it, thought for sure they would have tried a 3200/3500mAh, but all there is out there is cheap no name stuff.

Well, my 3500mAh arrived. It appears to be very well built. In no way does it feel or look cheap. It is ever-so-slightly thicker than the OEM LG battery, and also slightly heavier 49.4 grams, compared to 46.3 grams for the LG.
The extra thickness and weight is to be expected for the slight (claimed) increase in capacity.
I popped it in and it fit perfectly, snug but not too snug. Just enough that I could hold my phone without the cover on, screen up, and the battery would not fall out. My stock black leather back fit right back on without a problem.
Powered on and the charge level was right around 80%. I charged it to full, then ran down to 5% or so. I repeated that a few times before evaluating it's performance.
Sadly I didn't do much to test the stock battery, but I can tell you I was never able to get more than 3 hrs of screen-on time. Same with 4 TrendOn batteries! The TrendOn batteries also occasionally caused problems where my phone would shut off when taking a picture with flash. Wouldn't turn back on until I switched batteries. Maybe it would've had I plugged in a charger, but I never tried. That would happen even if the battery was over 60-70%.
Also using the TrendOn, sometimes I would put a freshly charged one in and my battery level would be stuck at 80%, never going up or down. Usually that would "fix" itself after a few reboots.
After using this battery for a little under 2 wks I can say I'm very pleased. I regularly get over 4 hrs screen-on time now. Using auto-brightness, and doing random things like browsing Reddit, XDA, watching YouTube videos, streaming music with Pandora or Spotify, etc.
I've taken many pictures with and without flash and haven't had a single reboot. Also haven't had the 80% bug. Both of which plagued 3 out of 4 TrendOn batteries.
Charges just as fast as the LG battery. Just over an hour from ~10%-100% using a QuickCharge 2.0 charger, and stock or equivalent cable.
I guess only time will tell if this battery continues to perform as well as its been, or if it decides to incinerate my phone... Since I received it, I haven't taken it out. Haven't needed to as it easily gets me through the workday(sometimes the entire day) , even with moderate to heavy use. Now that I have a QuickCharge 2.0 charger at home, and in my car, I don't even carry a spare battery. 15-30 mins on one of them and I'm good for several more hours.
I'm not sure who makes the battery. I don't think any name is printed, only "Made In China." I bought it using the BangGood app. I'll update if I experience ANY problems.

Hi All,
Dude your looking on the wrong places. Try AliExpress for Batteries and more! A 3800mah Battery an't going to cut it man. You'll need a case for it. Like mine with a 7700mah Battery. Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/accessories/2-extended-batteries-test-t3320662 for my testing and pictures
Look here for the Batteries and more http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20160223124746&SearchText=3800mAh+lg+g4
Edit1: A 3500mah would actually fit without a custom bought case http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2x-3...52&btsid=2dd82693-22fc-46b6-8277-cb8017d83bd8

Ones I have seen look cheap and nasty (no brand) and I have a feeling they will add nothing extra.
Anyone got a 3500/3800mAh, did you get noticeable difference, worth it?

Hello There,
a friend of mine would also like to extend his battery life, so an answer if the 3500 mAh or 3800 mAh did the job would be great, Thanks!
Are there any alternatives which do not massively extend the phones case?

The 3500mah is the only one that would fit. any higher then a Custom case would be needed. I have one on mine and it's not that thick. I actually bought another case to fit on top of the one that came with my 7700mah battery. just look at my post and see the difference
Sorry for such a late respond but here is the one I purchased http://www.banggood.com/BL-51YF-3500mAh-Li-Polymer-Battery-For-LG-G4-H818-p-987003.html
Saw someone posted the same link a few posts up too. Figured I'd reply to let you all know that it's still working great. Actually had to swap to the original for a little when I was running out and didn't have time to charge. I honestly couldn't wait to get this battery back in. Still getting over 4 hrs screen on time, auto brightness, GPS and WiFi always on, NFC always on, Bluetooth on a good amount of the time and connected. I placed an order for a second one.

It just camein today. Doesn't feel as if it is cheap. Slightly heavier than stock battery. I haav to go through some charging cycles to let the battery settle. Will report back with anything new.
Been using the battery since my last post and well i like it. With stock battety i get no more than 2 hours sot and the new one i can get up to 3.5hrs. An im a heavy user. Using an anker quick charger it takes about the same amount of time to charge both batteries. Although the new battery does look really cheap it doesn't behave like a cheap battery. No over heatings and no shorting out when using too much. I provided some pictures of the battery just in case you want to know what it looks like.
P.S. I do go back and fourth between both batteries when they die out. For the first week of having it i soley charged both batteries inside the phone with the quick charger. Now i have an actual little battery charger which saves me a lot of time between charges.

the OP asked for a slightly higher capacity battery that fit flush with the OEM battery door, that gave better performance without adding any extra bulk and limiting case options. Of course a 7700mAh is going to last longer than a 3000-3800mAh. But that wasn't his question. They're EXTREMELY limited on case options, and take up a LOT more space in your pocket. It's something I wouldn't go for, but a 3800mAh battery that allows the use of all the OEM backs and cases while giving over 25% more juice sounds quite appealing to me

Where to get replacement batteries

Oneplus 3 is an awesome phone no doubt (if you don't damage it). However with the dash charging, there's a high chance we might need replacement batteries for the phone after a year or two.
Does anyone know where we would be able to obtain dash capable batteries for replacement? It would be a great disappointment if we are not able to replace it.
*it is a concern because at least in Singapore, there is 0 support despite purchasing a local set. You will be given an email to make an appointment to bring your set down to a location, but NO ONE will respond to your email. Oneplus Singapore Facebook as well as official reseller do not provide any support either.
Why would Dash Charge wreck the battery? Afterall if anything the phone heats up less than other phones, because the charging is handled by the adapter, not the phone.

You have a point there. However, batteries will eventually degrade, so it would be great to be able to do a replacement when the time comes

Most damage to a battery is done at night when you charge a phone when you've gone to sleep, as the charger will put it to 100% and keep it there throughout the night, which puts more strain on the battery. (just look into Sony Qnovo battery charging tech in their new phones).
The dash charger has been proven to change people's charging habits. For example I wake up at 7.30am to go to work at 9am, as soon as I wake up I put my phone on charge. Thus meaning it stays at 100% for less time, and so degrades slower.
just keep your battery b/w 40-80% and it's all good

Stay away from buying non oem batteries. You don't want your phone to be the next Note 7 lol.
Again you wont need a new battery. It degrade really slow. The problem with fastcharging is heat. Batteries dont like heat. Also charging overnight is bull**** since it stops charging when its 100%. Again it doesnt matter what you do.. If u drain it to 0% its not fully empty so really doesnt matter!

Personally I change battery ever 1.5 to 2 years. Batteries have a lifespan and degrade over time. It degrades faster with heat. It's quite disappointing that no one is sellong replacements though.

Exactly. The controller stops the current flow at full charge. It will not top it up if you keep it plugged in such as in the overnight scenario.

The model number on eBay is BLP607.
You'll need BLP613 for OP3.
Maybe after a longer time there will be more replacements, if there aren't already.
If the OnePlus's battery it good I don't see a need for a replacement personality because I change phone after 2 years, when factory support ends and I'm tired of the phone.
I am pretty sure you can't wait to buy a new one before the battery degrade to an unacceptable level.
Like my OnePlus 1, which still has a quite decent battery time, though it has already become my son's toy.
So, don't worry about this too much.
Majority of the users will replace their phones instead of a degraded battery within 2 years. Unless the battery is defective then yea that would be understandable. If you are one the minority who upgrades every 3+ years then kudos to yall for having the will power to resist the upgrade fever.
is there no one who works at one plus and also uses xda?
that dude can help us in getting batteries from the supplier of one plus.
I am using my xperia ZL since 2013. i changed its battery a while ago. now i feel it is time to change my device. moving on to one plus 3 soon.
I think my OnePlus 3 battery is pretty broaken already. Last me for around 4 houers so i need to recharge it several times a day.
I cant find a original battery, so ill probably have to get a not OEM one

Upgrading the internal battery

I'm curious if anyone on here has tried opening their phone up to swap the battery with an upgraded mAh cell? There are 4,220mAh upgrade batteries all over eBay and I'm really about to pull the trigger on one of them. If it fits and works properly, that is a pretty substantial upgrade in screen on time daily and the difference between me having to charge one to two times in the middle of the day versus being able to go the whole day on the initial charge.

Just cause the listing and label on the battery says a capacity doesn't mean that's true. I wouldn't risk putting in a 3rd party battery that costs $20 (for example) into a $600+ phone

Well I mean that's a given with anything you buy on the internet without seeing it first. As for the price of it, a genuine OEM Pixel 4 battery is $25-$30 so I'm not put off by the $10 difference in price. I also am not going to be relying on the battery if I try it, as in if it turns out to be a dud I would just immediately swap back in the OEM battery and take the little $20 hit but I think its Worth trying with the current risk to benefit comparison and if it ends up being truthful, even if it's not 4220mAh but more than the OEM 3700mAh it would be a win in my book for the price. I have an inline USB meter I can throw between the charger and phone to measure how many milliamp hours the battery actually took.
If you need to upgrade battery to get more screen time each day then you're using your phone too much lol

After my experiences with purchasing piss poor quality aftermarket batteries off Ebay and elsewhere (N6P), I would not recommend it. For the same price you can buy a PD power bank that will fast charge your device anywhere you don't have a charger handy. That and you won't break the back glass. Of course, it would be a totally different story if your battery has somehow degraded tremendously and is now defective. I'd be curious to know what your current battery capacity is using Accubattery. When I bought my P4XL, it was 103%. 6 months later it was 98%. If your battery capacity is still 90-95% I would look at a decent PD power bank and not crack the case open. Even if you pay someone to do the work and get a warranty, your phone will never be the same. Best of luck. :good:
I would think that a battery that's 500mah bigger might not be able to fit in the phone... Chances are that the battery will just be a low quality replacement.

According to accubattery I currently have 12 hours and 25 minutes of screen on time. I dont know about anyone else but that is really good in my book and more than enough. My battery is reading 103% capacity.
I never fast charge my phone unless I forget to charge it overnight and I am leaving the house soon then I throw it on the original charger. And I almost never charge past 80%. I actually use a device called chargie that slow charges my phone overnight. It completely shuts down the charger at 80 allows the phone to discharge to 76 and kicks back on and goes back to 80. My battery only goes up about 10 degrees F while charging. And I have it set to shut off the charger if my battery reaches 110 degrees F. I really plan on keeping this phone for at least 3 years (since I have a family and I have to be a big boy and put food on the table now) No more getting the newest phone for me every year.

Well, considering my phone is used for all traditional purposes (YouTube, social media, email, web browsing) along with the fact that I run my business from my phone, you wouldn't be wrong, but it is essential and serves it's purpose. Any extra sot I can get is a huge plus for me.

:good:

Yeah I feel what you're saying, the one reason I haven't already dove right in and tried is the splitting the case open. I have don't it once before on a P4, my last one had some issues and I was able to open it up before sending it back to Google to be RMA'd.
I do in fact have a 10,000mAh PD power bank, I bought it within the first week of upgrading from my P2 to my P4. It works fine and is a great solution but obviously being able to fix the root problem would be better if possible. The power bank is along the lines of a bandaid for the problem but seems to be my only logical choice for now.

Did you try the 4220mAh battery?

12 hours screen on time? What alternate plane of existence do you get that kind of SOT with a P4XL??

I just opened up mine the other day to replace the rear glass ( had a crack in the corner). Was pretty easy with the guitar pick looking spudger. I did not need any heat to open it. Figured while I was in there might as well replace the battery with a fresh one. Both were purchased from ifixit. The swap out went fairly quick, I just took my time to scrape all the sealant from the edges of the phone for the back glass to have a good seal. Haven't dunked it yet to test if its still waterproof.

No I actually never ended up pulling the trigger on it. To be honest, I'm still really interested in the idea. The only slight bit of anxiety it gives me is with breaking the factory adhesive on the rear panel. Still, I will try it soon. I hate having to dedicate a pocket to my power bank anytime I'm out for more than a couple of hours.

What adhesive did you replace the factory stuff with and where did you get it?

The 3 pull strips for the battery didn't fully come off so there was still some that I could reuse to secure the battery. The rear glass that comes from ifixit has everything (nfc,qi, camera lens gasket etc) already attached to it including the adhesive. They also sell just the adhesive strip by itself if you're just opening it up.
