Rooting the T813 - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got a T813, arrived today, and I've been installing my apps on it. I don't plan on rooting it just yet, but when I do, I want to know how I can.
Is there a recommended way of rooting the T813 (can it be rooted without unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP?)? Also, does rooting irreversibly trip KNOX, or can it be reverted?
I looked through the forum a bit, and saw that there's CF-AutoRoot available for the Exynos version of this tablet, but I doubt that applies to my Snapdragon variant. Am I correct in thinking this?

Go back to the dev section and look again. Can't believe you missed it, lol. And it does trip knox.

Didn't I explain this to you already? :banghead:

I have no idea . I guess I'm too used to having to go through complex root methods, not just flashing SuperSU through TWRP. But I do have one question that isn't answered. TWRP trips KNOX, but can it be reverted?

KNOX is an efuse so once it's tripped,

Well then I'm going to have to wait the year for the warranty to expire.

I just remembered that I bought a two year protection plan through Amazon from Assurant.
I can't find any terms and conditions that address my question, so I'm hoping maybe it's somewhat common knowledge. They say there's no deductable for replacement, but will they accept devices that have been unlocked?

Ugh. I was hoping that KingRoot or KingoRoot would give me root without tripping KNOX, but I was literally the only request in KingRoot

Predicting the future of development is impossible. A root method can appear 5 seconds from now, or 5 months, or never. People working on finding exploits do not post about it until they have a working method to post.

You'll just have to wait until Marshmallow drops and a root exploit is found for that xP
I'm just hoping that we get root eventually for us that never had a chance to get the older one.

So there is no way to root at all, not just a root that will not trip knox?

correct.
No root for you. at least not until a new exploit is found.
Downgrading
Ok so I accidentally upgraded my phone to g925vvru2aof1 verison, and when I researched to see if I could root I found it wasn’t supported. My question is, can I downgrade this version to a version that you can root? Or am I stuck on this update? Thanks in advance for your help!

Unroot

I have a sm-n910t3 and I'm trying to unroot so I can use the android pay app.
Could someone please give me the link to the stock firmware and unroot instructions.
Thanks for the help.

Once you've broken the phone's virginity and tripped the KNOX flag, no amount of "ODIN to stock" can help you.
You would have to either change the board or buy a new device.
Edit: If you rooted without tripping the KNOX flag, then you can use this link below:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910T3/
I finally found the stock Rom. reflashed everything and I am now using android pay

If the KNOX flax itself has been tripped, then it would no longer be possible.
Y I believe android pay is even working in some specific rooted romz check tek thread
From what I've read you can unroot, then add your cards to android pay then then reroot and it should all be fine.

It's about the root method. If you are using the old root method it modifies the system and Google's root check won't let you use Android Pay, but if you use systemless root, Android pay works just fine. Been using it for over a week now.

Can downgrade? yes or no?

Hello is it possible to downgrade this new firmware release?
I have already tried all other stock ROMS and ODIN FAILED all time.
I just want to confirm if its possible to downgrade, if yes, then how to go back to 5 1 1.
Thank you for reading

I think it is better to prevent user to downgrade their Phones. As you know, since Android 5.1.1 released, Google replace the Samsung Reactivation Lock with their Factory Reset Protection. But in the lower versions of the android, there is many way to bypass this protection on Samsung Devices. Samsung fixed it on their security patches. Just imagine that if user can downgrade their phone to any version of android, when a thief steals the phone, they can easily to bypass it and make the phone become theirs.
Thank you for replying but I am still clueless if I can downgrade that specific android version I showed in screenshot above.
no one?
Have you tried TEKHD's stock-rooted 5.1.1?
You cannot downgrade... Once bootloader is upgraded there is no way back. You can try but highly you'll end with bricked device ... Also if you try custom roms they wont boot due to mismatch bootloader and recovery. Maybe if you search google you will find a way to do it but if i was you i would not take the risk

Note 9 - How to backup Knox and Orginal firmware?

Hello !

So that KNOX and S-Healt applications, Samsung Pass and others will work, how to do it?
I have already played the original android three times by ODIN, without success ...

once rooted you can't restore the phone to before the root state. as in getting all those apps to function as before the root.

use samfirm 0.3.6 to download N960F firmware enter DBT as region
then when it finishes dl and decryption, unzip the file and load all 4 specific peices(bl,ap,cp,csc be sure to use csc.md5 for csc and not the home) into odin v 3.13.1
I feel that I should elaborate on what rooting does to a Samsung phone.
If the bootloader detects that the installed kernel or recovery is not properly signed by Samsung, the Knox bit is tripped (as in, changed from 0x0 to 0x1). This is a physical change in the chip - think of it as a fuse that's now blown. The change is permanent, and there's no way to reverse it without replacing the entire motherboard.
All of the features you mentioned check the Knox bit, and refuse to work if it's 0x1. Now, there are ways to get S Health working if you re-root, but if you plan to stay unrooted, I'm afraid those apps are gone forever.
I guess this goes to say that you should have done your research beforehand. Sorry mate.

Yes, it is legit. You pay for a service of rooting your device for a year, monthly or just for one time done. They are very professional and helped me with everything. They connect to your PC over team viewer and guide you through whole process.
I wouldn't pay for it if there was a legit way to safely root it but It's a new device so I had no choice cause I find my phone unusable without root. Next time I hopefully can do it on my own as I'm used to.
