U can root it without any problems.. And that apk need root i think

I had problems with the Browser 5.1.1.apk f/c.
Happened often and randomly.
I've just installed Rajeevs PureX Z2 MM v1 ROM which includes the stock XZ Browser so I'm sorted now.

Looking inside the zip seems like gmail.apk is still ver 2.2
2.2.1 should be a bit smoother and reply floats and stays on top.

I had a noob moment (actually mostly a stupid moment)
I used root explorer to move gmail.apk from zip to system apps folder but never thought I actually need to install it.
I then installed it using astro and everything seems to be working.
Is it okay to do it that way? Can you just install it like normal apk from sdcard?
2.2.1 seems nice. The biggest difference is a large reply arrow on top. When you press it reply, reply all, forward scroll in. This is a bit nicer than before.

As for installing from the sdcard, I dont think you'll have a problem.
I usually just adb push any system app.

yup worked for me too! how do you guys find out about these small updates anyway?? is google supposed to push these updates to us slowly? i never received an OTA, cause i manually installed froyo the second i got my nexus one thanks again!

Yes you do. But, you may want to try and extract Gmail.apk throw it on your SD card and install it. It should work.

YES YES it worked perfectly, installed upgrade and now I'm playing with the big boys lol.... as this is official from Google themselves, how come were all having to get this from XDA and we didn't get this from Google themselves?? odd.. either way I'm happy I have it!! Thanks guys!!!
BTW where was this file acquired from?? A Froyo 2.2 rom from the nexus one?? If so that's odd b/c I just upgrade to Froyo on my EVO directly from Sprint/HTC. I'm running official stock Froyo that my EVO recieved OTA and I didn't get that GMAIL update....

How stable is it and any ideas when it would be released officially? Will it be possible to roll back afterwards?
Seems as stable as the original client, and yes, you can roll back.
As for officially rolled out, who knows, if ever. Maybe it'll appear in the Market without telling anyone, like the improved search widget.

Hi guys tried both boat browser and Firefox but can't seem to get flash working even though I have downloaded flash 11.1 and enabled plug ins. Any help much appreciated

Thanks I copied the apk there (replacing the stock one) and it installed. But I'm getting FC's every time I open Album. Similarly, Walkman FC's too. I cleared the app data (and cache in recovery) and no luck. Can someone please post a step-by-step for me?
Meanwhile, what's the best way to get a hold of the stock album apk? I forgot to back it up first. I have an FTF of .314 ROM - any way to get it out of there?

I think u need a deodexed rom. But i am not sure about that. And are u sure u give right permission? RW R R? While moving to system/priv-app ?
Btwn u can find a flashable zip port in cross development section. Use that..

I managed to get the original album apk from my FTF. I've tried Root Explorer and FX w/ Root to install the original apk and I get an 'App not installed'. Not sure how I managed to do it last time. I guess worse come to worse, I'll just reinstall the whole phone, but trying to avoid that.

Yeah i tried it too. The album works fine for me but the walkman constantly fc'ed. Tried installing the walkman backup i had with no success. The only way to make it work again was to flash the firmware again. FYI I'm on stock rooted.

I think it's best to wait for someone to port 4.4.4 from the z3 to the z2. It shouldn't be That hard.

i have bean doing this.and most apps,libs,sound effect files could work fine now but the camera and its libs still not work

I know its too late but instead of flashing firmware again you can just remove the apk's and update center will see that the apps are missing and it will download and install them again.
I installed CM11 (kitkat) on my xperia sp, but do not the LED notification. Do not work with the call and with the Walkman, but they only work with whtsapp and messages. Could you help me to work it like before?

im using it on my xperia style 4.4 rom and led work at calls,messages,etc...walkman and album led no work,but i try to make it working..
Well i thought it's not possible with custom rom other than stock based.

download any 4.3 rom from xda,open zip,go to system/bin and get illumination-service file
add it to your phone,copy illumination-service file,go to system/bin,delete old illumination-service,paste the 4.3 illumination-serivice and make permission like all other in bin folder,reboot your phone

Ok tried it but no luck. So i tried to do this
Copy semcillumination.apk & semcilluminationsettings.apk to system/app- both app didn't install.
Applied patch to android with lucky patcher - semcillumination.apk got installed but semcilluminationsettings.apk didn't installed.
But on every reboot i got FC semcillumination.apk.
I also copied their permission & framework files.
Note: I gave the correct permissions.
One question did ur lights beat on incoming calls just like stock.
I also tried Xperia Led music app it also got FC

You make awesome Job dude! Do you know if Xposed Installer and Gravity Box for 4.4 Kitkat will work? I really need this to turn off the charging light on xperia sp and a few other things.
I still usw 4.3 ExistenZ Ultra from niaboc but the rom goes slower and slower and pisses me off! I wanna change to your kitkat rom then, looking nice!
