ASUS customer service is **** - Zenfone 2 Laser General

Hi - STORY TIME!!
So when I got my phone, I was very happy. I got everyone in my family to get the same one: zenfone 2 laser.
But now I am so fed up with this company it is ridiculous.
My phone has had issues since the beginning, because everytime apps updated it shut down. And then other random times it would just die for seemingly no reason.
Over a month ago I got an RMA from ASUS.
I sent in the phone immediately, and waited a couple days until it arrived at the facility.
Finally, it arrives, and what do I find out? They gave me the wrong repair center address and they need to forward it to a different repair centre in another state. They're going to do that the next business day (which happened to be 2 days later).
6 days go by after they sent it out, and it finally arrives at the new repair center.
Now, 18 days later, the RMA site still says a repair is in progress. I have been emailing them back and forth trying to get a proper answer. They finally told me yesterday what's going on.
"we apologize for the I convenience this issue has caused you, the repair facility have found an issue with your motherboard that is not common and have to contact our headquarter in regard with this issue. They are currently waiting for a man advise that will cause the delay of the repairs for your device."
Are you kidding me? Basically the motherboard is ****ed and you don't want to just replace the phone like you should be doing? And 18 days to contact headquarters and find out what to do?! Is that a joke?
I'm usually pretty chill and calm and nice about these situations, but this is ridiculous. It's been over a month since I saw my phone.
Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do about it?
Am I being unreasonable here? I just don't see how this kind of customer service is acceptable.

I just had an awful experience with them myself. Asus literally sent the wrong update OTA to my ZE551KL. I kept my device 100% vanilla, didn't muck around with root, etc. and still ended up in a bootloop. I tried to install the latest firmware from their website to get it working, and yet it told me the version I had was newer. When I contacted them, they told me I'd have to send it in.
So I was literally forced to install a new recovery and unlock it just to get my device working again. Asus makes great hardware, but unless you have one of their high-end laptops (which I do), the customer service for everything else is terrible. PM me if you want, I have some corporate emails I used to get some problems rectified a few years back.

a week after the purchase i've had a problem with the back cover, it was completely covered in stains, so i've contacted asus support and they made me ship the complete phone to rma after a tedious procedure on the site and after ask a thousand times the same things.
After 10 days the phone came back with a new cover, but...
the warranty seal on the screws was ripped, so no more warranty
the proximity sensor was not working
the gps was not working
The support didn't responded me anymore, and also they have denied the zencare warranty saying that the back cover is not an hardware component
asus support is made by a bunch of clowns and the quality of their products is inexistent.
I've resolved my problem buying from ebay a phone with broken screen and using it to replace the mainboard, but guess what? on my phone there was some parts missing...
I'll never buy an asus product again in my life, same as my family and my friends.

I had a positive experience while dealing with Asus Service Centre, I had completely bricked my phone while trying to flash a pre-rooted firmware. So I handed over the phone directly to the service centre and I got back the phone after 1 day. Do one thing send a direct email to the zonal head of your area and inform him/her about your predicament, I'm sure something good will come out.

I think.... u get a fault phone.... when u buy a phone....
And electronice device when u repair then if u have 1 error after u can have an error different...

guys if you really want to use a nice zenfone..switch to cm13..coz it never gets messed up...i personally feel awesome after flashing cm13 and custom kernals.. AND HAVING ALL FACILITIES OF A ROOTED DEVICE..

I have a feeling they will sell very few of their premium priced ZF3's to anyone who has had experience with their customer service in the past.
When you could get a ZTE Axon 7 with a really good 2 year warranty for 400 USD, Asus doesn't have much to offer in my mind. They STILL haven't released MM for the first and most expensive Zenfone 2 models with Intel hardware.

Defective N1 power button & HTC service Center

Hi Guys
Just wanted to post my frustration regarding their service center. Its already been a week and the "good" folks there can't get their act together.
Dropped off my phone 7 days ago(Monday) at HTC as it had the much reported faulty power button.As my phone had a few scratches on it, I also asked for a quotation to have the casing replaced.
This is where it gets crazy..
I received an email from HTC 3 days later(wednesday) telling me my phone has been assessed and the quotion is as follows. Except there was no price listed on the email.
As I was out of the country I did not call up the service center for clarification.
Received an identical email from HTC the following day(Thursday) with no price on it as well. I only got back late Thursday night and hence called HTC first thing Friday morning for clarification.
Turns out, HTC records show that I had rejected their quotation when i hadn't even spoken to them!
Anyway, as I had an unlocked boot loader, I was aware that I would be hit with repair fees. However, HTC wanted to change my mainboard because I have a Third Party ROM which I quote, "is illegal!" The thing is, My phone has been rolled back to stock. Complete stock! Which means even the recovery is stock! I kept insisting that my phone is not running on any 3rd party ROM but they sent me a picture of the unlocked padlock saying that that shows I have a "3rd Party ROM installed and it is illegal".
I had an important meeting to attend to so I had run out. The next day(sat) I called HTC to further understand why they need to replace my motherboard and that i have no third party ROM. I also only require them to fix my power button. Turns out the service support guy said I had already accepted the charges to repair yesterday!!!
I told him I have not and would like to speak to the engineer who inspected my phone for clarification. He told me that the earliest I could speak to him is on Monday.
I have called HTC twice so far today(Monday) to have hem transfer me over to that enginnerbut despite them saying they will arrange for him to call me, I have yet to receive his call.
My take is, aside from the complete misunderstanding of an unlocked boot-loader and 3rd party ROM, does anyone know if they need to replace the motherboard just to fix the power button? (which happens to be a known problem with the earlier batches of N1)
I am utterly frustrated with HTC's support for this phone. It's enough for me to swear of HTC entirely and look at Motorola now..
That is just crazy. I have heard many good things about HTC service lately. And its not like the failing power button isn't a known common issue. What the hell HTC.

I have half a mind to make the trip down to the service center to get to the bottom of this. I have a strong suspicion the engineer is not going to return my call and they are simply shafting the Nexus One users..

Thanks for replying. Yes the call center is indeed sucky. Despite calling a local number, I get a distinct impression that I am speaking to helpdesk agents in China. (gotta love outsourcing) Anyway, fed-up with them for giving me the run around, I made the trip down to the service Center. (I saw lots of ppl holding on to desire phones waiting for their turn to have their device serviced).
Finally got to speak to the service personnel there and explained to her the entire situation.
The conversation went something like this
HTC Rep: Our records show you have a third party ROM. That will constitute a motherboard replacement.
I patently explained to her that I have an unlocked boot loader which means all i did was void the warranty. It does not require a motherboard replacement.
Her next response was, "the power button is connected to the motherboard which would require the mother board to be replaced".
I told her I was skeptical about that as there is a widespread belief on the internet that HTC's SOP is to replace the motherboard of any Nexus one that has an unlocked boot loader. Secondly, this is a known defect of the early batches of Nexus ones and I do not appreciate how my case was being handled.
She said she will have an engineer come out an explain it to me.
So i waited, while she went into the backroom. After several minutes, she emerged unaccompanied and told me that they had waved the charges to repair my power button!
Secondly, she gave me the quotation to replace the scratched casing and asked if I agreed to it. Of which i readily agreed! (I had asked for that in the first place)
Lesson learned is to keep pressing HTC to see the engineer who assessed the phone. I have a feeling the engineers are not interested in facing the customer and will fix the power button, should it come to that
The Singapore HTC Service Center always messes things up. I hated my experiences there.
When I came into the service center at Keppel Towers there was no proper signage or instructions on how to get a queue number and I had to figure it out after 5 minutes of roaming around in the room during my first time there.
I specifically told the CSO that I wanted the courier guy to call me before delivering the items and he never did. Twice he appeared at my office without calling me.
Btw, how much were you quoted for the casing change?
Cost me SGD $224.70 (inclusive of GST) It's definitely steep. But if you went the DIY route (voiding the warranty and possibly breaking the phone) a replacement casing will set you back USD$90.

Wow, I'm in the US and had a great experience. My power button went out so I called them on a Saturday and talked to a very nice lady who simply asked if I wanted it repaired of replaced. I opted for repair.
I sent it via Fed-Ex Monday afternoon and got it back Thursday morning. It was rooted and running the leaked Froyo but came back locked on stock 2.1 with a different IMEI number. I assumed they just switched phones instead of repairing it, but now I'm not so sure, maybe the motherboard thing is true or maybe they do replace them if they're rooted. Dunno why, I had it rooted and running Cyan an hour after getting it back, but I would be interested in knowing if I have the same phone with a different motherboard or a different phone.
But they didn't give me any hassles with the rooting or custom rom. I got an email saying it had arrived and they were assessing it's condition, and one the next day saying it was ready and would be delivered the next day, and that was the end of our interaction.
Guess the N1 users in Singapore arn't so fortunate. Anyway, I should get my phone by tomorrow...After which i'll try the alternate root approach (where I dont have to unlock the bootloader) cos I probably wont be so lucky the next time around
Mine is sent in for dust under the screen for the 2nd time already. I called the other day to check the status since it's been over 14 days and I have not received it back.
I was told that every time your phone is sent in for repair that they change the imei number, and in order to do that they have to swap out the motherboard. Now this may not be correct but this is what I was told.
Also I was informed that they are in the process of relocating their repair facility to another location and my phone will be another week or so. I am now going on 3 weeks without it.
When i sent it in the first time for dust the screen was not loose, when I got it back and pulled it out of the box it was loose.
I know that this is not the power button issue but I was just throwing in my experience and what I was told about the imei/motherboard deal.

Just got my phone back! Power button is working now but guess what...My bootloader is stillUNLOCKED. They did not replace the motherboard. My phone was still on the FRF83 ROM and the moment I powered it up, i got the OTA update for FRF91.
After all that drama where HTC tried to shove down my throat that I needed to change my motherboard, they did not need to do it.
I am happy I finally got my phone back but I am really, really furious about this whole thing cos that just proved that they were trying to rip me off..
HTC has lost one customer.
I have a totally different experience
I got the button broken, expected to be charged and sent to the service center.
Ended up not charging me, and they replaced the motherboard, the button, and the track ball.
Everything done without charge, *OUT OF WARRANTY*
Repaired mine myself. Got the part through ebay for $24.00. Google search shows step by step. Not a big deal. Works like new.

Is Samsung has the worst Customer Service ever?

Hi,
My Galaxy S had a faulty accelerometer since I bough it. I took it to Authorised Samsung Service Centre as advised by Samsung Helpline.
On 14/08 I've left my phone for repair in Service. On the same day the engineer called to say they couldn't repair it and they will send it to Samsung Service on the 16/08 and it takes up to 10 working days to get it back. So the phone was send by an authorised service centre on 16/08/10 should be back with me, within 10 working days, which means I should get the phone back no later then 31/08, as 30/08 was bank holiday.
On the 02/08 I contacted Samsung to get the information on the repair and whey there is a delay, and I get the following answer:
"Regarding your case, kindly note that your call to us was made on the
25th of August 2010 when the service request was processed into the
system. Then it takes 2 Business days to receive the jiffy bag, once you
send out the jiffy bag it should take 5- 10 business days to receive
your phone back. You should be receiving your phone back on time."
But the thing is I didn't call them on the 25/08, I didn't receive any jiffy bags and I didn't send anything to them as the phone was send by their authorised service centre.
I'm over 3 weeks without the phone and without the hope that I get it soon, as following their line I will probably get around 13-14th September (1 month since I took it for repair). For me this is an appalling customer service and it is unacceptable.
It takes forever for them to answer any queries, and if they finally do, their response in no way answers the query. If I try to call them , Im lucky to get through in 20 minutes, and they it's almost impossible to get the competent person to talk to.
I am seriously disgusted with them to the limits.
Did anyone else also experience similar problems with them?

They really loosing a big time as a result of their disgraceful customer service. They have some great products and they would sell as twice as many if they could only provide honest, respectful and reliable customer service. This can't be that hard.
I received similar customer service from HTC a few years back for my P4000. "Oh your from Canada!" " "You have to contact Telus for service"
Five ....yes five units later I got an acceptable swap.
Panasonic is another gem to deal with... horrible service.
I agree with the statement ...Samsung Customer Service, it's TERRIBLE. That being said, there are ways of rattling the higher ups cages, with emails and phone calls. They really hate to be bothered with service issues. This is the one and ONLY way I have ever received any type of "support" from Samsung.
Also, once I did receive the support, they were extremely quick in rectifying my issue(s).

With all due respect, this just seems to me like standard run-around customer service from most big companies, nothing really horrible or unexpected from what I have heard at all.
If you want a story about bad customer service, I can tell you my story about Acer.
Laptop died, ok, so laptops die. Ship it to Acer in Ontario for warranty because they have no walk-in depots (??). Two weeks later, get it back, original problem is fixed, but now they have installed a French keyboard and made the screen hinges squeak (???). File new issue, have to mail it away AGAIN, get it back, keyboard is now English again, but hinges STILL squeak, and now the PCMCIA slot cover is broken. Third time, mail it away again, finally, comes back issues repaired.
Total time without a working laptop? Two months.
Stay AWAY FROM ACER! The service depot seems more dangerous than a construction site.
In my experience, no. Try dealing with Virgin Media's Customer Service if you really want to experience incompetence in abundance. That said, I've had to deal with Samsung CS numerous times this week and only once have I gotten through to someone helpful...
Auth service centers are not same as true samsung service centre. Auth service centers just do basic repairs and if they can't they log it via samsungs online or tel helpdesk. Auth centers can be any company that passes samsungs tech tests. Its not samsung you are dealing with at the centers but a normal repair business. Its same with any company as they can't afford to have repair centers everywhere except big cities/countries

My experience is the exact opposite. I find that Samsung customer service is way better than HTC (my last few phones).
When my Galaxy S was bricked because I flashed an CDMA ROM onto my phone, I brought it in to Samsung service centre to repair.
Surprise no. 1
The service centre said it will try to reflash my FW and told me to come back in an hour's time. An hour! At HTC, you wait for days just for them to flash your ROM
Surprise no. 2
When I went back in 1 hour, they told me that they failed to reflash the phone and have to replace the motherboard. Phone will be sent in to Samsung. Told me to come back 3 days later. I was skeptical. At HTC, changing motherboard literally means a wait of at least 2 weeks (if you are lucky). But 3 days later, the phone was ready for my collection.

I was told that the repair is free, under warranty. This was despite the fact that I was willing to pay for the repair. I mean, c'mon, the phone was flashing an AT&T splashscreen. At HTC, they void your warranty even if they detected you have hardSPL your device.
So all in all, my first experience with Samsung customer service is very positive.
Even if they gave me defected phones, the customer center here has already replaced 2 phones for me. I'll be getting the 3rd replacement today, hopefully it has 3 button downloads mode.

same experience for me too.... infact i think i have used more than 5 different high end phones from samsung for past 2 years.. and i had a good experience with the service as compared to other companies .. once i had bricked my samsung omnia i900 and they replaced the mother board free of cost under warranty (without a single question) and that too in 2 days time... and now the staff there know me well and give me a priority in case i have any problem, thats why i prefer samsung mobiles than any other company
and on the other hand i had a Motorola handset which i dropped in the water.. and after that it never showed the network but when i took it to the service center , they told me that this problem cannot be solved .. as they dont even have mother boards and in the process they damaged the screen.. and handed over the phone to me saying that it was already with a damaged screen... now i had to fight with them and get a screen replacement just to use it as an ipod/music player... and i had to pay Rs 200 ..just for nothing they said it was a service charge..

People seem to often think that companies are a giant automaton. But in reality they are just collections of individuals. The luck of the draw when you get assigned a service person is a huge factor. The sad part is, the excellent service people usually end up being promoted away from the front lines.

I dont see what the problem is. The problem the TS speaks off is common practice from all big companies. The law (at least in Holland) saids that if your buyed product is defective within your warranty period, you should go back to the SELLER to get your phone fixed or exchanged or sent to repair centre/manufactury.
It has no use to call Samsung, cause they wont be able to help you with this. Every company in the phone business will give you the same answer.
My experience is to get your phone fixed in repair centres. Official or non-official. I have a SGS too, but in the past i had different phones. When i wanted to fix my Nokia with the seller, they said it would take weeks before i would get it back.
Then i went to a repair centre who is working with Nokia and they repaired it in 30 minutes. If you send your phone for repair, it will take weeks with every company on the market. If you get it fixed in a repair centre, max 1 day
The story dat Samsung has bad customer service, is just a story people tell you because they heard someone else who heard someone else said that.

I agree, there customer service is the worst ever, I have sent my Galaxy tablet off to them twice now and they have not repaired the intial fault..I will never ever bay another Samsung product ever again..I am thinking of taking them to court..glad to see am not alone!

i have to say that compared to 3uk samsung are excellent , i recieved a call from them today about a problem i had, they may not fix all problems that second but the customer service team have kept in touch updated me as to what is going on and what they are doing,and as they themselves dont fix the problem they are just the point of contact so far they have done an excellent job.
now if the problem gets fixed is another matter

Samsung repair centre repair time

Hi,ive sent my galaxy note to samsung repair centre in birmingham. Ive screwed the emmc after wipe/reset. Anyway trying to get the phone repaired under warranty as its only 2 months old. Anyone sent their phone in to them and know how long do they take to repair and send it back? I sent it on Tuesday and it was received Wednesday so its been 3 days. Apparently they have 5 day backlog of phones so they probably going to take some time. Ill be greatful if anyone would like to share their experiences.
well all my previous phones (which have had issues) have been repaired in under 1 week, But with the Note and the amount of users with Bricked Notes i'd say it should take no more than 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks give them a call if you havent received it back
Hi azzeldazzle and thanks for your response. I was told id get it back not this monday, but the following monday, so in essence, 2 weeks. I miss my note and its driving me mad lol. I was hoping itd be fixed before then. Anyway, i reset binary count and current binary to samsung official using stock kernel. Can anyone let me know if theyll repair it for free because i havent flashed any rom to it according to them
If there are no traces of modifications then yes, They will repair it as they will believe its their kernel that triggered the mmc_cap_erase thus bricking your phone.
I hope they cry and cant sleep at night due to the guilt !

For me, It usually takes about a week.
I've had my motherboard replaced about 4 time now..
The are beginning to hate me, but are unable to do anything, because I still have my warranty.

***It depends,if the service center accepts your warranty and does have the replacement piece it would take 1 to 2 days
however if it doesn't have the repair parts it make take 2 - 3 weeks
They generally don't tell you how long it takes accurately but this is the case.]

My LG g4 Boot Loop repair story with LG. Good News!

I purchased an LG G4 H811 on EBAY for $129. The phone had a manufacturing date of 2015 June, I believe.
I received the phone, charged it overnight, and turned it on. The phone went through setup and asked for my GMail and password. After connecting to my wireless router, I allowed the phone to update/install all of my apps.
The phone worked GREAT! Just like my G3 only snappier......About two hours later, I left my home and walked about two miles to a local drugstore. I called a friend to tell him about my phone and how nice it felt and performed. I noticed the phone felt hot, but I was outside at noon so I thought nothing of it. I got home and nothing was responding so I pulled the battery. Upon booting, the phone BOOTLOOPED! Crap........
I pulled the battery again. The phone booted normally this time but ran slowly and locked up again, HOT!. Now the phone would never finish booting. Since I bought the phone from an EBAY member (STORE FRONT), I was certain it was refurbished. I called LG, got an RMA number and sent it in. The company received the phone and later responded that I would have to pay for the repair. The repair would cost $79. I called to pay the money because I thought I wanted the phone working once and for all, BOOTLOOPFREE...
A representative said they had decided to fix the phone free of charge under an extended warranty. WOW!! I never asked for this to be done, but the representative I talked to said it would be no problem but it would take a few days for the repair to be done and that I would receive a tracking number. How cool is this? I did not push, cry, scream or threaten. LG simply volunteered to fix the phone free after initially wanting money to do so. Perhaps some of you will have the same luck with your phones. Mine was clearly out of the one year warranty and I do not know if the phone was refurbished or not. All I know is that LG volunteered to do the repair THIS WEEK (April 27-May4) without any argument or request from me.

you aren't the exception. I too had my phone repaired for free. And as far as im aware, lg has been doing this for the g4 for the past year or so.

I bought mine from ebay in early 2016. It bootlooped in December 2016 and i got it fixed in late january.

A representative said they had decided to fix the phone free of charge under an extended warranty. WOW!! I never asked for this to be done, but the representative I talked to said it would be no problem but it would take a few days for the repair to be done and that I would receive a tracking number. How cool is this? I did not push, cry, scream or threaten. LG simply volunteered to fix the phone free after initially wanting money to do so. Perhaps some of you will have the same luck with your phones. Mine was clearly out of the one year warranty and I do not know if the phone was refurbished or not. All I know is that LG volunteered to do the repair THIS WEEK (April 27-May4) without any argument or request from me.

Was your data preserved after repair? And when you called what information do they ask after you tell them your having trouble with a LG G4 stuck in bootloop?
Did it have the same manufacture date when it was returned? Just wondering if they replaced the entire motherboard or just fixed it.
The one I bought on ebay was a 602 (February 2016) model. Rather than buying from a high-volume clearing house that couldn't be bothered, I bought from a private seller who volunteered the manufacture date. My brother has a 507 model he's still making payments on through T-Mobile. Hopefully LG's warranty extension for this issue will last until the bootloop bites him.
They repaired my wife's phone no questions asked. Didn't even need the proof of purchase. We bought it the month it was released so it was way out of warranty. Free shipping and everything. Took about a week.

Yes, about 3 weeks ago they did it. It was totally wiped. I set it up all through LG web chat. All I sent in was the phone with no backing, no SD card no Sim chip. They sent it back with a new board and wiped.

Same mine is going out today also did everything through chat. I wonder if the new board is revised and won't cause the same issue anymore. Yeah figured they wipe everything because of privacy concerns.
This is the email I got from LG saying that the diagnostic showed that the phone was not charging with the cable... Wth that's not what I sent it in for. Mine was stuck boot looping so now I'm curious to know what you guys got for an email and what the diagnostics showed.
Apparently it's on it's way back to me I just hope that they fixed the boot loop too if not I'm going to be super ticked off!
So it appears as it may just be general terms used on emails but I got final email saying that the board was indeed swapped out as part of the repair so what a relief... Still wonder if the "new" boards are any better than the ones on the phone already. Hmm only time will tell.
My G4 is supposed to be here on Wednesday, in which they also told me they had to swap out the board. Not surprising since it went from bootlooping to not even turning on, which means all my data was lost. Makes me glad that pictures can be saved to SD at least. After trying to get it to boot to make a backup by using the freezer trick, it just decided to give up the ghost.
Props to LG though, since I made an RMA 2 months ago and only recently had the means to send it back. Turnaround time was quick too; I was expecting at least a month. I've been using a ZTE ZMax as a backup and while not awful, I wouldn't mind having my G4 back.
I plan on throttling the CPU this time so it doesn't get too hot, unless someone can tell me they fixed the issue and there's nothing to worry about now.
When you folks get your "new" boards back, make sure to run that LG Info app on the Play Market and show a screenshot of the info it provides including the motherboard date - I'm interested to see what that shows and not what might be printed on the actual board aka the silk-screening. I know they can change that info without many hassles with the hardware they have just like they can reprogram an old or new board with the same IMEI anytime they want so, I'm pretty curious to see what these new(er) boards are showing for info/revisions/etc.

1) LG repaired my H811 in January. It was returned to me with data wiped *and* the IMEI and date of manufacture *did not* change.
2) There has only ever been the one revision 1.0 for the H811.
Some tips: I purchased a "Certified Refurbished" phone off Swappa in February of last year with a 505 serial number. The phone bootlooped in January, within the year of warranty. At least so far as the G4 is concerned LG has been providing warranty service under two circumstances: 1) If the date of the repair request in within 15 months of the serial number date, they are not requiring a receipt and they have fixed phones for free purchased from Swappa and Ebay or 2) if the date of repair is more than 15 months from the serial number date they will request a receipt if you initiate the repair online. If your receipt has any indication that the phone is used or refurbished they will not do the repair for free. In that instance, you should avoid providing a receipt. Many people have had their phones repaired without a receipt but if you are beyond the 15 months I'm not sure how you avoid that. My guess is that if you provide a Paypal receipt from Ebay, they will have no sure way of knowing whether or not the phone was purchased used and they don't ask. If you provide a screen shot of your Swappa sale, it may very well indicate the phone was used and they will charge for the repair.
So far my phone has worked perfectly. I did not mind paying the $79. I bought the phone knowing there was every chance it would bootloop. I like LG products when they work.
PS - About six months after LG repaired the phone they called me to say that it had been a mistake to charge me. They sent me a check for the entire amount. Yay!
I've had four G4 devices bootloop and been repaired without issues, all of them 505 models, all 4 of them within the past 7 months (so they're all outside the 15 month extended period), and not once has the 505 serial number been called into the situation at all - what matters is the date of actual purchase for a warranty claims.
AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon were still selling the G4 through February of this year (2017) so, all one has to do (with any carrier actually) is tell LG you bought the device in late 2016 and that's that, instant warranty coverage and they won't even hassle you for a receipt - at least they haven't in my experience of having G4's repaired by initiating the RMA using the online chat support.
The G4 is known to be defective, period, and as far as I'm concerned that makes every single one of them ever manufactured to be valid for a warranty claim and I don't give a damn about dates on a calendar or the first three digits of a serial number.
My G4 arrived today, but it's currently at home. I'll edit this post when I bring it with me tomorrow to get set up and rooted and nougated and give you the info you want.
The app and silkscreen match. It says 9/2015 as manufacture date.
Guess LG is scared of the class action lawsuit against then for this problem. So now they warranty anybody I guess. This won't stop the lawsuit though.

I just wanted to add and make an update to this discussion
I got my phone of craiglist brand new back in Oct 2015. I had the issue of running extremely hot but never bootlooped for me until June of 2017, it just went dead and will not restart. Its the t mobile version. I googled to find a fix and read about other user experiences. I called LG and I made up a date of purchase to Oct 2016 and was able to get a rma from lg. I sent it in on June 6th and got it back 10 days later.
They claim in their repair info that they changed the mother board.
Well the phone now had additional issues such as
1) Will turn off and restart 5 times in 6 days
2) Will drop saved bluettooth connection
3) Running google map will cause to run hot
4) Using google map, pandora and bluetooth will cause it to restart and run hot
So in my opinion changing mother board does not fix the issue and with the replacement, what they are doing it is forcing the phone to restart when it gets hot based on my experience.
I sent the phone back and listed the various issues after experience 8 days of frustration since repair. Its been with them now for past 3 days and still under diagnostic and I am waiting to get it back.....
Based on what I read on this thread, wondering if anyone has a link to class action lawsuit that we can join? and for those who had their phone fixed/repaired...how is it running since and what carrier you are on?

Update - I called LG after they received the phone last wednesday and it was sitting under diagnostic status. I asked the CS Rep when I will expect to get back. He looked up the same information that I saw on the website line to RMA. He then I guess sent a request for information and hour later I get a call from LG asking me what issues I am having as they did not find anything wrong with GPS, Bluetooth , I reminded them of my list and asked them to run bluetooth, gps and pandora at the same time and watch the phone heat up and shut down....he then thanked me and checked the status this afternoon and it moved a notch to in repair.......

Another Battery issue???

Everything was going well with my phone. Went to sleep without plugging in and phone battery completely drained. Note 8 would not charge or turn on. Force reset didn't work either. Had to send it in directly to Samsung (Under Warranty). They advised me it could take 2 weeks to "Fix" & get back... NOT HAPPY!
Anyone else?

Of course you are not happy. Non of us would be. I make zero excuses for Samsung....but....In every brand there will be lemons the point is how well Samsung resolve your problem.
I would have thought that this being the most expensive Samsung mobile ever and considering its only been out a few months I would have expected Samsung to exchange for a new one on the spot. Samsung after sales just sucks.

Once I had to give my S6 on warranty back to Samsung when USB port stopped working. They told me after a week that I have to pay like 400-600 USD for repair. They didn't even care about warranty. Then I told them that I won't pay for it and after 2 weeks they sent me the phone without fixing it, but USB was working fine again after it came back. I think they sent it to repair anyway cause they thought that I will pay for it and then when I said no they just gave me back a working phone lol. It was supposedly an authorised Samsung Repair Centre.
And for the charging problem. Note8 has a little security thermal diode that checks if everything is okay with the battery. Maybe it fell off due to bad soldering and it just didn't allow Your phone to work. Battery security in Note8 is huge. It's more secure than any other phone. I'm wondering if Tesla cars have same amount of security as Note8 does.
Oh and by the way. Here in my country services suck too. I had to wait for 6 months to get my money back for my smartwatch that died after 3 days.

Hi, exactly the same issue with my Intl Note 8 128GB after a week or so, I'm still struggling to get support from vendor (eBay) but things are not progressing at all, I'll try to get it fixed but your comment is scaring me... did you tried another service center?

Samsung took over a month to just issue me another phone. They first gave me an s7. I called them & they told me that "I Authorized the substitute"
Which I certainly did not. How on earth do you accept a $200 phone for a $1000 Phone? I sent it back and they wouldn't give me a Note 8 because, "It was not the original phone that was not working". They told me they couldn't substitute an s7 for a note 8... I was like"WTF!" I original owned a note 8 and I bought it directly from them... I told them to trace the original IME number... Finally got it last week.
Warning: They were not able to fix it! And they wouldn't tell me what the problem was.

Because you mention "another battery issue" just go and claim warranty,these things happen all the time to ALL devices, gadgets, appliances, machines, vehicles, etc, the standard procedure as with any legally acquired item is precisely is to CLAIM warranty! just because you paid for a relative expensive device, it does not mean that all units will be perfect, warranty centers are full of many devices, even many times more expensive than a note 8, every day, car dealers receive cars, and so on, if you have a car, you would know what a REALLY pain is to make a warranty valid, so, think a little before begining to spread flaming concerns about something that is statiscally expected

It's not the first time for me...or the second....or the third....or the fourth. It's on going with many people and many different devices.
True, manufacturers have problems which most of us can tolerate. But, it's like the sexual harassment we have today ... no one will talk about it alone....but collectively.....well, The "Flaming Title" caught your eye...so I did my job. Now, if people have a problem, they can come here to relate.
