Deleted OS and won't flash new - Moto X Q&A

[Rooted/Unlocked bootloader] So I deleted my OS trying to install a new rom (CM) I went into my custom recovery (philz touch 6) and I wiped everything and tried to flash cm. The CM I downloaded didn't install due to an error and when I tried to reboot my device, it stayed on the Warning screen. I've tried to sideload multiple roms (one at a time) and some gave me errors and when I installed the roms from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/xt1053-retail-stock-lollipop-flashable-t3155843
it successfully installed but when I went to reboot my device it just shows the warning screen for about 20 seconds and then it will just reboot again and repeat. I have tried to install:
cm-12.1-20160710-NIGHTLY-ghost
cm-12.1-20151117-SNAPSHOT-YOG7DAO1K9-ghost
cm-11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-ghost
flexos_5.1.1_20150425_weekly_ghost
XT1058_RCICA_5.1_LPAS23.12-21.7-1_D
XT1058_RCICA_5.1_LPAS23.12-21.7-1_U
All of the above were attempted to be flashed through sideload
Thanks in advance,
Patrick

Turn off your phone then turn on pressinf power button + volume down
Then you download any stock ROM based in your model, you can get them here: https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto X (1st gen-2013)/Stock/
You will install fastboot+adb in your computer(you can find in google a link, it's pretty easy to do). Also you uncompress the .zip (the firmware that you just donwloaded) in the same location as your fastboot.
To flash the stock rom using fastboot you have a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/ref-return-to-stock-recovery-rooted-t3027079

Thank you so much for your help, although the tutorial you linked is explaining how to install rom from SD card and I was not able to do that, I was however able to extract the files and flash them via CMD and fastboot

If you still need help, I wrote this guide for you and anyone else who is confused.
Now that you have unlocked the bootloader follow these steps.
1. Boot into the bootloader by pressing volume down + power.
2. Press the power button to enter fastboot.
3. Make sure that beneath the first few lines on the top of the screen it says fastboot usb highlighted in red.
4. Find a version of TWRP, WCX, or whatever recovery image you are going to use and then extract it into the folder on your computer.
5. In CMD, type this:
fastboot flash recovery "name of the file.img"
6. Press [bootloader] to go back to the main menu (without the brackets).
7. Scroll down with the volume button to recovery.
8. Boot into recovery.
If your recovery works, do this to use a custom rom.
9. Go back into the bootloader by turning your phone off and then using power + volume down.
10. Download a custom rom and open up the .zip file. Then, extract the file named boot.img and extract it into the folder on your computer.
11. Enter fastboot and type this into CMD:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
12. Go back into your recovery (following the steps above from 6-8). Mount your internal SD card and put on the file of the custom rom you wish to use onto your storage. Be sure to copy the file in .zip format, not after it has been extracted.
If your custom rom needs Google Apps, then download the correct file which should be specified in the download area of your rom's post.
13. Go back into the main menu of your recovery and then choose the option to flash the file.
14. Choose the file that you have just loaded onto your storage.
15. Flash Google Apps if you need it.
16. Thank me if it worked
works like a charm:laugh:

Do you have a custom recovery already installed? Which one? If you don't, remember that in order to flash a new ROM, you need to install a custom recovery.

Sure, buddy.
You need to download a custom recovery, this is the option in Android that lets you erase all content in the device and do other things. With a custom recovery you can do even more things, like install .zip archives or ROMs, erase partitions, dalvik cache, etc, etc, a lot of things.
I personally use this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552622
Since you are already rooted, I think that you are familiar with fastboot. In order to flash a custom recovery, you need to do this:
1. Download the custom recovery
2. If it's in a .zip, extract the archive so you have one *.img archive.
3. Then, copy that file to the folder where you have the fastboot.exe archive.
4. Open Windows command console and change the directory to the one where you have the files.
5. Turn off your device, then press volume down key and power key. Hold until you see a black screen with white letters. Connect via USB to your computer.
6. Run the following command in the command console of Windows:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Where "recovery.img" is the name of your custom recovery archive, for example, "philz_touch_6.22.7.img"
7. Wait about 6 seconds and in the console you should see something like "done", I don't remember exactly what does it says.
8. You are good to go. Turn off your device. Then press the volume up key and power button. Hold until you see the custom recovery interface.
After this point, you can flash the custom ROM of your preference.
In the Philz link above, it goes to our thread that links to the main one, from there, download the unified moto-msm8960 one labeled for xt925/xt926. Last time I checked it was more up to date than the native mb886 one (not surprising since our CM repo is gone).

Installing OTA on rooted XT1064

My wife's XT1064 has on OTA (22.46.12.en.US) available which is a Stagefright fix. It has downloaded but when it tries to apply the OTA it boots into TWRP and I have no frigging clue where the downloaded file is or if it can be applied through TWRP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am unfamiliar with the Moto G's ins and outs.
Thanks.

no as its recovery for xt1064 - if you replace the recovery with a xt1063 that would work
Would I lose my data stored in the internal memory if I unroot my moto g 2014?
BTW: I am rooted using the the stock firmware.
EDIT: Do I have to re-lock the boot-loader in other to successfully install last update?
Thanks man!

PRA-LX1 I want to install stock firmware.

I want to flash my phone with stock firmware, but I cannot find it anywhere.
I am looking for PRA-LX1C738B123.
I own Huawei p8 lite 2017
I wiped my system because I wanted to install other rom, it didn't work so I want to go back to the original.
Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to do a backup before so I am stuck atm. The bootloader is unlocked and flashing works, I can boot into huawei eRecovery and TWRP. (eRecovery gives the getting package info failed error) I have tried the dload method with other app files, it fails at 5% every time tho.
I tried using Huawei Update Extractor and Firmware Finder but I cannot find the exact firmware.
Could someone help me with installing my firmware? Oh and I am kinda new and it would be nice to get some guides,
Thanks.
I have the same problem but with a different firmware.. now only thing i can do is use dc-phoenix paid software (15$ for 72h of use). I will try that tomorrow as i also can't find exact same firmware it was on my phone.

Thanks for reply. I will take that into consideration, but from what I see you were looking for PRA-LX1C432B106 and they indeed have the c432 roms there, however they don't seem to have the ones that I have been looking for. They have a list of firmwares online. Anyway good luck.

Hello ! I think I could be of some help since I encountered the exact same problem !
edit: well I just realized I can't find your ROM with firmware finder either, sorry for the failed attempt
In your case I'd try with each firmware until one would work or a I tried them all.
You need some utilities first :
- Firmware Finder
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
It will allow you to find the stock ROM that fits your model
-Huawei UPDATE extractor
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
It will allow you to extract the .img files from the firmware previously downloaded.
-fastboot and adb
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
The programs that will allow you to flash the .img files.
Now:
1. Find your ROM using firmware finder (the model is usually on the box you received the android in).
2.Extract the necessary .img files : system.img, boot.img, recovery.img.
3.Reboot into the bootloader, connect your device to your computer, open a cmd exe (powershell in my case) by holding shift+right click on the folder containing the .img files and flash each .img file, e.g. for the system file:
"fastboot flash system system.img"
4.then use "fastboot reboot" and after that shutdown your device
(in my case even after flashing the .img files I was greeted by a blank screen, so I shutdown my device holding the power button).
5. Boot into recovery holding vol up + power buttons (be sure to disconnect your device before shutting down and powering it up again) and choose factory reset.
It should then reboot into ROM installation procedure where you will have to follow the same steps as when you booted your device for the first time.
edit: formatting
Also, as far as my limited knowledge goes, there is no custom ROM officially supported for our dear device.

Yes I had the exact same problem, but once I did what I described, by rebooting into recovery (without twrp), I finally had the option to restore factory settings.
I believe the issue is in the fact you don't have access to the stock ROM for your model.

Yes I had the exact same problem, but once I did what I described, by rebooting into recovery (without twrp), I finally had the option to restore factory settings.

I got rom that allows me to do a factory reset, it's stuck at 99% for like 2 hours now, is it normal? If not what should I do?

Unfortunately I can't help you further than what I already posted.
But keep updating in case someone more knowledgeable peeks in.
similar problem....I was fairly good but play store was stuck in pending download....
I did a wipe in TWRP, and ended with a black screen...
I can boot to eRecovery, but it fails.and also to TWRP.
when attached to PC it keeps being seen and unseen as if its stuck in a power on cycle
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello did you already test ???
Here is the solution for every PRA-LX1: [http : // www . htcmania . com / showthread . php ? t=1326478] (sorry for the spaces, but I don't have enough posts written to post external links )
Unfortunately, it's from a spanish forum. I didn't found any problem to follow this tutorial, but maybe for someone it could be a little difficult.
Anyway, it works!

Yes, but any PRA-LX1C432 i tried doesn't work for me, flashing by fastboot. I believe any PRA-LX1 should work on this phone, but i will need to use that dc phoenix software to flash it.

Where did you find the C432 firmware? I can't succees to find it
Flashing to a completely empty phone via DC phoenix or manual via fastboot still didnt got my device started. Sometimes I end up in the eRecovery and sometimes its just stuck at boot.
I tried different version from the hicloud but none so far did the trick. Maybe someone can point me into the right direction so i can finally rescue this phone?
EDIT:
PRA-LX1C432
Sorry cant link to these files since i don't got 10 posts. Maybe PM ?
Copied the Mega TWRP backup (B100) to SD card
Flashed TWRP via fastboot
Disconnected the USB cable
Boot into TWRP
Restored TWRP backup
Restarted phone into fastboot
OEM unlocked it
Got booted into TWRP since no stock recovery there
Booted into fastboot again
flashed stock recovery
Android started to work!
Tried to update to B164 and failed
Reboot
Now it offered B110 and I tried to update to B110. Success.

Also i noticed everytime a OTA fails you get the full version offered on next boot. So you should get a full B164 aswell after it failed

Flashing Dirty Unicorns ROM 14.4

Hello. I want to flash Dirty Unicorns ROM 14.4 on my 4 xl but they don't have installation instructions posted anywhere on their website. (Has to be commen knowledge and I just don't know how to do it yet.) Anyways, is the installation process the same as other ROM's for the 4 xl? DU ROM have the radio IMG, boot IMG, and the ROM zip. From what I've read on other ROM's, it's BL first, factory reset in recovery, then flash ROM zip from stock recovery, would that work for DU ROM? Where would the radio IMG fit in terms of what's flashed first second etc? Do I have to switch boot slots? If so, do I have to do it manually? Is it necessary to flash the radio if I'm already on June update? Is this stuff common knowledge and I'm a dingaling.? Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer any and all of my questions! Still kinda new to having an unlocked BL and flashing custom ROM's etc. Thank you!!!

a few ??s.. is it rooted? and also does everything work like face unlock and google pay? and does it cause any issues when flashing this if you want to return to stock or is it just as simple as flashing back to stock as you normally would flash a stock image to update or whatever? Thank you

Did you ever get it up and running? Looking at the second part of your photo, you were flashing the wrong thing, but as for the first part, seems that it's not detecting your device, or maybe you have to update your fastboot/ADB tools. Could even be your wire. It's best to flash the stock rom first, then go on about the settings. Don't even have to setup stock, just flash, boot once, and right back into the bootloader to flash DU.

DU has to be pretty much the most rock solid custom ROM for the P4XL. You'll rarely find a bug or something not working. Everything works like a charm, and over on Telegram, the guys are on top of everything.
There was a little update a little while ago, DU is coming back to XDA soon, so you could also wait for the new thread to be up before flashing.

I got it up and running fine. Amazing ROM. And NVM the photo lol. Adb was working fine and it wasn't the cable. I was also able to flash stock multiple times. It was something really dumb but it's okay now. I was removing the quotations after pasting the location of the file into cmd prompt and trying to flash. Therefore nothing was being flashed to my device because a computer reads things differently and I thought removing the quotations was necessary. Definitely not and I was an idiot lol.
