Root problem twrp - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hello Team, i pushed twrp with adp to my device and follow the faq and restart but after restart i cant go to twrp and my device is still not rooted... any ideaS?

You did this;swipe to allow the modification when installing the twrp?

When you push via adb and reboot the phone, hold the "Volume UP" button to start in recovery mode otherwise its flash the original recovery.
twrp-3.0.2-1-gemini.img didn't work for me stuck on the TWRP bootlogo, installed twrp-3.0.2-0-gemini.img

Thx for the reply but also with the volumen up it doesnt start in the twrp menu. It just start like normal.
i am using "twrp-3.0.2-1-gemini.img"
@ trifos: What do you mean with swipe? You mean when i install from google play ? because there is no swipe in the fastboot screen

is your bootloader unlocked?

Install twrp 3.0.2.0 with adb command run as administrator.
what steps follow in your process?

[Q] Need Help!! STUCK in bootloader loop

Ok I have an issue, I tried to install a ROM using TWRP and after it finished installing I rebooted and got stuck in a boot loop on the bootloader screen (the screen you get to when you hold down the power button and down on the volume). I read online somewhere that I have to relock and unlock my phone which I proceeded to do, but as you may know that deletes everything off of your SD card. Then I went into cmd and used the code
fastboot wipe cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I can now get into TWRP but I have no rom to restore to, no back up and when I go to Advanced Adb Sideload, then swipe to download it says
"Adb Sideload Complete" (at the top)
"Failed" (in red right below it)
I know I have to do something with adb or fastboot, but when I type Abd Devices into cmd I get the picture below which says:
List of devices attached
FA34PS901853 recovery
I cant adb push or install and I have NO clue what to do
But im pretty sure that I somehow have to reinstall Superuser so some help with that would be much appreciated as well
PLEASE O PLEASE can someone help me with this

Unlocked Bootloader Flashed TWRP But It is Not Booting Into Recovery

Hi!
I have a Verizon Dev Ed running 4.4 with an unlocked bootloader. I want to root using TWRP 2.6.3.1 and SuperSU. I can flash TWRP using mfastboot and then reboot into the bootloader, but when I try to reboot into recovery, it just does a normal boot. I followed the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534850
and used twrp-2.6.3.1-ghost-4.4.img.
I have a Windows 7 PC. I tried to use adb to boot into recovery but adb doesn't seem to recognize my device when it is in bootloader mode. I suspect it is a driver problem, but I downloaded the most recent drivers from Motorola and that doesn't seem to help.
I have seen other people with this problem, too but none of the solutions that worked for others worked for me.
Help!!!! I need root!
Thanks!!!!

If you press the power button after flashing TWRP, it will do a normal reboot and TWRP will not be installed. Try installing TWRP again and go to select recovery by pressing the "Volume Down" button to highlight "Recovery" and then press the "Volume Up" button to select recovery.
I also followed this youtube video that helped me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw675ipX-ds

Not sure about alle the steps you did or did not do.
But if you install TWRP and then reboot back to MIUI, it will overwrite the recovery again.
From the TWRP.me site:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
Ok, followed all the steps exactly, the phone boots into twrp, then i reboot in system, or let it reboot by disconnecting, same thing happens. Black screen MI logo, bootloader unlock, in red, at the bottom of the screen with an open padlock.
Now it wont boot at all.
This is weird, I can boot into fastboot and recovery but when i try to flash, the device is redognised but i cannot see it in the drop down menu to find the rom. Grrrrrr im stuck.

OK, if you want to keep MIUI, just flash MIUI again and it should install the needed firmware, recovery etc.
You can use the recovery zip for this or the fastboot gz version to install (both should work).
If you want a custom rom installed, go to the Lineage thread (i use that since feb, with weekly updates) or another one.
Read the first few post carefully, but if you want to install it (Lineage), do flash the firmware first via recovery before flashing the rom (don't forget this one).
Update. I can get into TWRP recovery but have no back up.
If I try to boot into system I get a black screen with Mi logo and a red unlocked boot loader padlock graphic.
If i boot into fast boot and run miflash, the phone is recognised but the sd storage does not appear in the drop down at all.
I cannot use the pcsuite software and if the phone is not in TWRP or fastboot mode it is on the black screen with logo with red unlocked padlock and is not recognised by the PC. I dont know what else to do, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Found out the problem it was supersu, gonna try a different version

Glad you found the problem.
I think that MIUI has already build in the SU via the Developer options, but i'm not sure of that.
If you think of Lineage, just flash the Lineage Su addon after the Lineage rom.
Works great.

MIUI has some sort of verification on boot. If it detects a custom recovery different from stock one, it won't boot. You need to use zcx twrp. It can bypass this verification.

I assume that twrp is not installed yet on your device and you've a unlocked bootloader. If that's the case go fastboot mode by turning your phone off and then pressing the power+volume down together. Then from your computer flash the latest twrp image ("fastboot flash recovery filename.img"). Then boot to recovery by pressing volume up+ power button and from the recovery flash lineage os. And don't forget to flash the required firmware before flashing lineage os.

Having some trouble rooting now sure where is the problem

So I followed this guide, watch?v=eBAzsEw-QVsAnd, He used an auto flashing program, got to the step where you flash the recovery, it worked, the ADB was recognized and the writing of the recovery was successful.
But, when I tried booting into TWRP (by power + vol-up) I just get a black screen for a few secs and then the mi logo again.
Also, I manually installed TWRP 3.3.1 and still the same thing
Any suggestions?

When you restore the phone try using the latest TWRP from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/k2...icial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363/post79823568
Copy the TWRP image to the adb/fastboot folder and rename to TWRP.img.
No need to use any tools, just boot into fastboot connect to the PC then in command prompt navigate to the adb folder and use
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
After installing boot immediately into TWRP and flash what you need.
In fastboot still press and hold power and vol+ until it vibrates. Then let go of power and keep pressing vol+ until TWRP boots
