How to root the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active on the NG3 update

A new update is being released for the S5 Active, since i didn't see a thread on how to root the device... Here it is...
Towel root works on the NE4 build but will not work on the new NG3 update.
So what i did was downgraded with the firmware file found on Sammobile with the NE4 build.
Then used Towel root and installed SuperSU, it said it failed to install Supersu but after a reboot all was well.
Oh this was a AT&T S5 active.
SuperSU worked fine and root was verified!
I haven't posted much before. I would like to give back to the awesome community who has done so much for me!
Hit the thanks button if i helped!
Could really use your help

Trying to use your same method
I am trying to root my phone with Towel root and it won't recognize my phone either. My phone deleted all it's text messages, for some reason, last night and I need to root my phone so I can save some of the messages. Came across your post and figured you can help me. I downloaded the may version of the sm-g870A and odin. Odin won't open. I've never done this before and could use your help. If I can downgrade my firmware, or change it, in a way where Towel root would recognize my phone that would be exactly what I need. Also tried all the Modstrings, did no good. Whatever you could say to help, can hit me up personally and help me, idk if you could do that, but it'd be awesome if you could help me.

NE4 and NG3 are official kernel images...
Downgrade consists of flashing the NE4 kernel image via Odin...then rooting the device....and then flashing the NG3 kernel via Odin which will give you a fully rooted rom that is the latest version...
Knox will NOT trip if you follow the thread instructions...
We are forced to downgrade the kernel to gain root due to the exploit being patched in the latest update...
The root method works perfectly....g
Thank you for your help

Lol. That is not what I'm asking. what I'm asking for is what firmware do I need to step backwards to kit Kat. I know if I can get it on revision 2 bootloader lollipop, I can downgrade to revision one kit Kat. I did this in the past but I forgot how. Right now I downgraded to 5.0 and I'm trying kingroot and Kingo root. It's not working
Find the latest 4.4.4 Kitkat version and try.

I did. Says fuse binary of 2. That's why I need the lp firmware with the binary of 1. So that I can downgrade to 4.4. Believe me I know what I'm doing, I just can't find the appropriate firmware. I need the boc 5 firmware. But that was an OTA I think

Revert to Stock for warranty

My gyro quit working and through the diagnostic where you dial *#0*# i get fail or no readings.
I'm running AllianceROM©v8 Lite but I need to roll back to stock. Do I just need to flash the stock 5.0 rom? Or do I need to roll back to KK and do it that way? Thanks in advance:good:

Download the nce downgrade file in the OP. And you'll be unrooted. Remember that ATT will most likely update you to 5.0 after they fix it or they will give you a phone with 5.0 on it most likely. if they replace it.

If they update you to 5.0 you won't be able to root. If they give you a replacement phone with 5.0 on it, you won't be able to root. There is no root for 5.0 right now.

If you want root, DO NOT DO THE OTA. If you don't care about root then ota will be ok. If you want root on 5.0 then use Muniz method in the op of that thread i posted to you.

I need update from stock OI5 to PA1.
Please somebody user from AT&T can upload the file.
Thanks!!!
Since there is no root for OI5, I can only download the OF3 to PA1 update file. Won't be very helpful to those of you already on OI5 though. Maybe someone on OI5 can try to log the update URL and download it directly.
Sorry guys. Figured I'd chime in since someone sent me a PM asking me to grab the OTA file.

Apparently, nobody currently on OI5 has even attempted to at least get the update URL. You don't need to be rooted to do that.

I don't need the update.zip OI5 to PA1 to update my OI5 stock? or i can update with the ROM.zip on this first post without root?
I believed that the only way was to update.zip

The first post in this thread provides instructions for someone to get the update URL. They don't need to be rooted to do that.
You can't use the files in muniz's thread (I think you've commented in there also) because you need to be currently rooted to use them. I have a OF3 to PA1 update.zip file, but again, it's not useful to you since you're already on OI5 firmware.
Unfortunately, you're kind of stuck until someone can get the URL and download the OI5 to PA1 update.zip file.

I found an Odin file with OC4 but it turns out ATT bumped their Qfuse another level going from OC4 to OF2. Does anybody have any OF2 files?

Quick question about downgrades

I've had my G900A since October 2015, and it came with 5.1.1 preloaded.
I took the "unofficial" upgrade to PG3 Marshmallow.
Would I be able to downgrade to KK 4.4.4 from PG3 so I can root the device?
Got to OI5, now what?
So I was able to go down to OI5, and now I want to know if I am able to go from OI5 to OF3?
