Hello,
As the title says, I was wondering if anyone made or knows of an amazon fire ROM that can be flashed onto an m7? Preferably one with lollipop at least, but it would need to be fire os.

Not going to happen I'm, for 2 good reasons.
1-Why would someone port a ROM that will limit you to use the very limited Amazon app store instead of using rom that can already access all app from Google play store?
2- Fire OS, even if it's based on AOSP is a proprietary OS.

Can somebody pls tell if they can port the new Fire OS 3.0 to the kindle fire HD 2nd Gen?? The 3rd gen kindle fire HD has been released...... and also what would happen if I just flash the new firmware on the 2nd gen??
It wouldn't boot up for one thing, the hardware is completely different. Also you would need a working root exploit to even get a copy of the system image, since root is needed to make the image. Not to mention we have no idea of the ram requirements for the fire os, I mean the new tablet has twice as much memory as the 2nd generation models, so who's to say they didn't let the os eat up even more ram. Just my thoughts.

Have no idea about it at all.
Just download More Locale 2.22 from Play store.
Works fine for me.
I have searched, and my Google-fu is obviously lacking. I was given a Kindle Fire 7 HD (11.3.1.0) yesterday, and want to root and ROM it. Have done this lots of times with phones, so I am not a complete noob - just a regular noob.
However - nothing I have tried works. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong spot?

We can't flash ROMs on the 2013 model though yet since the bootloader is locked.

hi. i have just succesfully rooted my kindle fire hd. it is v 11.3.1.0
I am wanting to get rid of amazon altogether and make this a complete android jellybean or whatever latest I can get for it that is stable. I looked into cyanogen mod which seems cool but it shows it is only fully supported for 1st gen and 2nd gen. So if anyone had a 3rd gen that has gotten rid of amazon and turned it into something better. please let me know how to go about this. it is already rooted. Thanks

Unfortunately, CyanogenMod isn't available yet for the 2013 Fire HD. The only thing available at this point is root.

Because of the locked bootloader,it's not currently possible to install TWRP or any other recovery. And without that, flashing CM is not possible.
damn that sucks. do y'all know on just a rooted 3rd gen kindle what all system apps could be disabled/uninstalled without making the kindle freeze or lock up? I rooted a optimus showtime smartphone i got and got it running lean on memory then bricked it from takin off somethin that associated with google drm or whatever. lol. so can't do that again.
thanks
I finally got around to rooting my HTC One m7 primarily for the wireless tether. (The tutorial was great. First time I did not get stuck in a bootloop.) I'm stock 5.0.2. Everytime I try to turn on a hotspot it wants me to sign up for hotspot plan. I tried looking at other threads and youtube videos, they all seemed to be before the lates android update. Do I need to flash a ROM? If so, any recommendations? It's been a while since I last rooted and flashed my phone.

Yes, you have to flash a custom ROM with tether working. If you are looking for Sense based, you could try Viper.
Thanks. I was looking at that one. It recommends s-off so guess I'm waiting for Sunshine based on the threads I've read.

you don't need s-off to flash ViperONE 8.0.0. if it boot loops just pull the boot.img from the rom zip and flash it right after flashing rom, as far as tethering on Viper it only works on CDMA(3g) at the moment.
