Hi guys
I'm pretty new to the XZ and just wanted to clarify something before I go ahead and flash a ROM.
I have backed up my TA Partition using TA-Backup Tool and have rooted my device.
I am about to install Recovery and Unlock the bootloader, all pretty straight forward from what I've read so far
My only question so far is, if / when I want to relock the bootloader can I simply do this using the "restore" option within TA-Backup Tool (providing I am on a Stock ROM), or do I need to Relock using Flashtool and then restore the TA partition?
Thanks
G
Just use ta backup to relock that will flash the ta partition you have backed up to a unlocked status with drm keys

Brilliant!! I'm assuming I can still do this even if the stock ROM has a Recovery such as CWM on it?
Yes but you need to remember what state you backed your phone's ta up with otherwise m5 key won't match

i am also in a similar situation like you. backup your TA partition first before you unlock, to re-enable the DRM features if u wish to relock the phone. now i dunno if the sync with my gmail account alone would restore all my app data, contacts etc. so for that i also make their backup using android backup utility or pc companion from time to time.(u must know once u unlock the BL u will have the internal memory wiped )

AFAIK, TA partition is where all ur DRM keys are stored. U can backup and restore the TA partition using Backup TA utility. (search on google/xda)
Warning: don't restore another Sp's TA partition as it will hard brick your phone.

Use the search function. And if you unlock the bootloader always keep a copy of your TA partition.

Hello!
I've heard somewhere that if I unlock my bootloader that Mobile Bravia Engine won't work, is that true?
Thanks in advance

Apparently yes it is
You can preserve your drm key before and restore if ever you return to stock.
Plus if you look in the development section, I believe there is a guide to getting it working on unlocked bootloaders.
Xperia Z
If you havent unlocked your bl yet, you can backup ta partition before proceeding to unlock. After you unlocked you can simply restore ta parititon.
Be aware, for backup you need to be rooted your phone. And rooting not possible without unlocking the bl on the newly versions .569 and .101 (yet)

If you have unlocked bl nd did not backup ta then there is no chance you can get back drm keys bt there is a way to install bravia engine search in the forum.

There's no way to get back my drm keys??
So if my phone broke, I can't relock my booloader and send it to RMA?

Just one more question..
If I relock my bootloader, without restoring TA partition (drm keys), will Mobile Bravia Engine 2 still work?

No. No DRM keys means no BE2.

DRM keys are unique for your your device no matter on which firmware you backup it.
You just need to backup it one time and that's it...

I would recommend that you take a TA partition backup if you want to unlock the bootloader, that way it is very easy to relock and restore the DRM keys.
You have always been able to unlock without taking the TA backup, but if you have done it once, then its fine, you never need to do it again
Does anybody have a zip DRM function restore file ? I need it to restore, I lost DRM key for relock BL :crying:

My condolences, the first.
The second, as i know, the only way to restore lost functions is to flash custom kernel, look at the android development thread in this X performance forum. I heard that kernel restores X-reality and camera noise reduction functions, maybe something else, i don`t know, it`s ineteresting to myself how fully the kernel restores lost functions.
And don`t even think about to restore TA backup form another device, you`ll brick your device forever.

I told you once before that it is not possible. What is it that you don't understand? You will brick your phone by using another phones TA

You should flash the androplus kernel, it should work. Or ask the Dev on how he did it
Sent from my F8131 using XDA-Developers mobile app
As said above, flashing the AndroPlusKernel will restore the DRM functions, no let downs on having a custom kernel, it makes your phone better.
There's no standalone solution for this as of yet though.

No, because your bootloader will be unlocked. And if you relock it with stock kernel you won't have drm functions
