P9 Plus raise volume - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
there is a way or settings to raise the volume of this phone ?
Both headphones and speaker have low volume.
If someone has a solution, please write it down.
Thanks.

If you have rooted your phone and found out a way to change the SELinux to permissive (I suggest using this and putting it through terminal emulator), you should use Viper4Android to somewhat amplify the speakers and greatly increase the volume threshold for headphones. Best of luck if you try this.

Hi,
I have already installed Viper4Android, but it does not amplify much the volume, neither in the speaker, neither in headphones, it changes a bit the quality, but it does not raise the volume as I wish...
Thanks anyway for the answer.

Did you try setting the UI to expert and adjusting the playback gain control in the headset settings?

Hi,
yes I tried, but volume is more or less the same...
Thanks 4 answer me.

Hey guys.
I'm new to Huawei devices, this is my first, but on my previous phones (LGs and Samsungs) I could edit mixer_paths.xml for an increase of volume. I have root already, but I couldn't find that file or any similar to modify... Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

A little up, maybe someone comes up with another idea? Still would need help with increasing volume, please

Hello to everybody,
i thought i should share my unsuccessful attempts of getting more headphone volume with the P9 plus with you.
After recognising that it seems there is no software solution at the moment i ordered several different
headsets with a higher sensitivity than my former used.
The headphones i used during the last few years where really cheap ones which should have 95/96 SPL/V.
I informed a little and learned that every 10 SPL/V more gives you the impression of twice as much volume.
Next i bought the KZ ATE wich are stated to have 118 SPL/V and thought: nice i can kill my ears fast now...
I tried them and did not get any improvement at all. In my opinion they don't sound better and they are also not
playing louder. OK, cheap china-in ear, lets try another...
Now i bought the Sennheiser cx 2.00i which are more than three times the price and a well known brand. They are stated to have 119 SPL/V.
What should i say? They are not playing any significant louder.
There are even inears with 125 SPL/V but at the moment i don't think this will change anything.
Do i miss something?
Do you have a solution in the meantime?
best regards,
Henning

SPL has to do with the maximum decibels provided by the headphones, BUT did you look at how many ohms the headphones have? The impedance (measured in ohma) determines the power needed to.. Well, to power those speakers inside your headphones
As fat as I know, most phones can only give a decent enough power to 16 and 32ohm headphones, and not to anything above that...
I miss my LG and Samsung days... It was so easy to just modify the mixer_paths.xml files to get higher volume

[Q] Galaxy Note's In-Call Volume is Too Low!!!

Hi All,
I hope all is well and you are enjoying the holiday break.
I'm having trouble with my new SGN: the "In-Call" volume is too low.
When I'm on a street or in the car (anywhere with background noise), I can barely hear what a person says when I'm talking on my phone. Headset/Speaker volume is fine and they can also be further boosted by using Volume+ app from the Market but I cannot seem to find any cure for the low In-Call volume.
I did some research online and I noticed someone has posted a trick to solve similar challenge for the SGII by using Samsung Service Code (See below)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dialer *#*#197328640#*#*
[5] AUDIO
[1] HANDSET
[1] VOLUME
[1] SRC Speech RX Volume
[5]5_lvl : 88
Menu -> Key Input
Change to any number greater than 88 (Max:100)
OK
Press back to save.
Default values:
0_lvl: 63
1_lvl: 68
2_lvl: 73
3_lvl: 78
4_lvl: 83
5_lvl: 88
---------------------------------------------------
** I tried the same trick on SGN which I purchased from Amazon but nothing happens when I select option, [5] AUDIO. It will not drill down to next set of sub-menus even if I key in the "5" from the main menu.
Please let me know if anyone else are also experiencing the similar challenges. Thank you very much for your time.
Unfortunately the sound is a big issue here.
Supercurio is working on an app to increase the vol. THis will need root and will work only on with the headset. THis app should be released in the next few days.
I was looking for a solution to increase the speaker volume ( Not quality ) as the speaker sound is low for voice calls.
There is an app called volume+ in the market. You can try it for the speaker.
Hi drgopoos,
Are you saying that you also felt In-Call Volume for SGN is way too low? I am just curious if I have a faulty unit or this issue is concerning all SGN units in general. I did try the Volume+ App from the market and it does boost the volume for Headset and External Speaker but it does nothing to the "In-Call" Volume.
-JC
Try moving the entire phone lower onto your ear. I know it sounds obvious, but the speaker is quite high on the device and my volume was low because the speaker was too high on my ear. Once I lowered it (feels awkward) it was much louder.
Anyone else felt the volume on your SGN is way too low or am I going deaf...
Can you recommend a way to remedy this problem?
I know how frustrating it can be when the earpiece speaker isn't loud enough. My nexus one had low in-call volume and it was frustrating. My Note, however, has very high in-call volume on the earpiece speaker! I have to turn it down a few notches for comfort. I'd say you might have a defective unit, or maybe you're holding it wrong like that other guy suggested.
If you're talking about the external speaker being too quiet, the one for speaker phone calls, playing music, ring tunes/notifications, etc., then I agree. I hope Supercurio's working on a fix for that. I'm currently using an equalizer from the market that allows me to turn all frequencies up a few decibels, but at the expense of sound quality.
Mine is loud enough...

The volume is ok with ear peice when i am inside the house and silent.
However outside , when i am walking in the street its to difficult.
Both indoors and outdoors my Note is one of the loudest phones i owned. I can't complain about its ear piece. In fact, i have to lower it 2-3 clicks to be comfortable
Yeah...I got the same problem also...
Indoor works great! but outdoor...oh man....
Earpiece in call volume is good. But, speakerphone in call volume is horrendous! I've tried volume+, equalizer, volume boost, AnEq Equalizer and nothing works! Very sad.
I can't access audio menu [5]. Always loopa me back to main menu. Doea anybody know how to fix that?

Actually, my earpiece volume is quite good. Just a suggestion, not meant to insult you, but since the phone is so large could it be possible you are not placing the earpiece properly over your ear?
For those with poor speakerphone volume the ONLY (I've tried at least 4-5) application I found that worked is Audioboost SGS2 (It's 2.5USD in the market) but that's the only one that truly raises EVERY volume. Be careful though I think there might be potential to damage your speakerphone if you raise it too high. I have it right around 88 (highest is 93)
Hope this helps!
My European version of SGN is about the loudest phone i ever had, speaker phone wise. It's also crystal clear! maybe because i was coming from Desire HD, which had kinda awful sound

I want to retract my last statement. Audioboost does raise the in-call speakerphone volume, BUT it effectively ruins everything else. It creates ALOT of static, even at middle volume levels. It was so bad I had to revert the settings and uninstall it. The search continues...

Xperia T increase headset volume?

Hi I would like to increase the headset volume on my phone it is far to quiet when listening to music in my car via the audio jack, I used to have a galaxy s i9000 and I used the voodoo amp app that turned up the gain from -10 to +2 and it sounded incredible in the car but my Sony outputs at a much lower volume and sounds pants in comparison!
I've tried a lot of volume boost apps in play store and I've tried flashing sound mods like v4a and zeroinfinitys volume boost and superloud but nothing makes any difference at all!
And I'm stuck with a bootloader unlock allowed : no phone so unable to install custom kernels
Any help to turn up the volume in some way would be greatly appreciated......
Thanks in advance
Anybody??
One last attempt for a response lol
This phone will be for sale if I can't sort this volume out or unlock the bootloader I will go back to samsung

Wait for 4.3 update, stock volume is louder.
But have you tried poweramp ? Gain can be increased a lot.
I have had a similar issue. Increasing gain will kill quality. And I don't think you want that. My recommendation is to buy a headset with a higher sensitivity. I always look for something higher than 105db because this stupid phone.
That's good news volume is louder in 4.3! I'm currently using poweramp paid version, I have dvc enabled and I've turned up the pre amp slider on the equaliser a bit but not a lot of difference in the sound have I missed a setting somewhere??
I never use an actual headset I plug the phone into the aux in on my car stereo, I don't know the hardware differences between the 2 phones I have but with the Sony plugged in and all volumes on max it sounds very quiet but if I plug in my old galaxy s running cm7 and voodoo sound if all volumes were maxed speaker damage would almost definitely occur it is sooooo much louder and the quality is still crystal clear in my opinion
This is a problem of too high impedance of your car device for XT, hardware related... You could use a preamp.
But wait for 4.3.

[Q} How to increase overall volume output?

What would be an effective way, without rooting the device, to increase overall output of volume, i.e. earpiece for phone calls, speakers for speakerphone and audio/media, and headphone jack. I might be going deaf, but this is one of the quietest phones I have had.
Install Viper4AndroidFX.

Hey there.
I suggest you install Viper4Android FX to increase your overall volume output. It has several options to modify the way sound is reproduced via headset, speaker, and bluetooth audio sources. The only requirement is a rooted Z3C. Cheers!
Please hit thanks if it helped!
I don't have one but there may be a boost in the menu for Volume.
You can also use the equalizer and boost all bands or the
ones you hear, meaning not very low frequencies since the speakers, earphone transducers don't reproduce those, boost all the mid and medium high frequencies.
SOME Z3Cs are very quiet in Volume , like the one tested at GSM Arena and some are very loud, like this
one:
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact vs HTC One Mini 2: http://youtu.be/Z8UxXtGDOcA
Go to about 16:40 in the Video and you will hear the
Z3 C is louder than HTC M one Mini .
Unfortunately-not ALL Z3 Cs are this loud, according to
my unscientific research before I buy one.
Regardless-I am amazed that a few like you and,GSM
Arena find the phone too quiet and others report opposite.
Youtube Videos are not accurate BUT with two phones side by side still an indication of relative Volumes.
I conclude that SOME Z3Cs are much lower in Volume.

Thanks, but I guess I should have, and thought I did clarify in the original post, that I don't want to root, till an exploit is found that won't wipe the TA. I'll go back and clarify so there is not more confusion.

To be honest, all Sony products I have had, are super quiet. My Sony Flip 14a was super quiet till a new update came out and fixed it. Walkmans are typically very quiet as well. Shrug, just a thing I suppose.
I have the same problems with my brand new Z3 Compact. The over all volume is very low, it is okay when in silent environment, but at a bus, airplane, or in a crowded area it is very hard to hear what people say in calls or podcasts etc.
I did a comparison with my friends iPhone, plugged both in to my soundcard, the output from the iPhone is around 20-25% louder. I hate to switch back to iPhone, but this is kind of a big deal. I did a comparison of Z3C and iPhone 5S and the Z3c is about 20% lower. I can not post a link to the youtube-video (got to have 10 posts)
Is there any way to fix this?

Me too I have installed miui 7 and is coming with some sound mods, it´s better sound with but still isn´t great.
get 10 post as well wiiiii xD
I don't think there's a way of really boosting the overall volume without rooting it.
And please don't start with the EQ bands & other such bs or apps that boost volume without root.
The only alternatives are Viper4Android & a post I saw about editing mixer_paths.xml and modifying some values there, which I did, but I already had Viper4Android installed. So I'm guessing you can't do more than that. But even Viper4Android doesn't give you all that much of a boost. If you're an audiophile and want your music to sound good and not just blast mid-high frequencies like crazy, you'll consider buying a portable amp for music listening.
I have the same problem, so can't boost volume audio without root?... Im on lollipop 5.1.1 Stock
Yes - you need root. There is a simple flashable zip file on this forum that many have flashed with great results. Search using the keyword "xloud"

Yes, same problem, loud call volume on headsets
Yes, noticed it on my very first call. Couldn't reduce the volume enough to be comfortable.
I also noticed that there are far fewer levels of volume available on the phone volume slider compared to for media volumes etc.
I needs a software fix or could someone suggest a volume control app or alternate dialer app?
I will look at the other threads / oneplus forum and comment there too, Cheers, S
I feel its OK and normal. Don't hear it too loud.
Same problem here, using the ear buds bought from OnePlus. Can barely put them in ear for calls. Extremely frustrating considering we can't edit the step sizes in OOS either.
Video call today with Hangouts with my wife and it almost blew my ears!
I instantly pull of the earphones from my ears.
What is even more disturbing is that the volume controls don't change ANYTHING. All reduced to lowest and the volume doesn't change a bit...

Brand new OnePlus 5T. Used headphones on a call. nearly blew my ears off. Anyone know of an app to override the settings and make the volume lower?
All the people having this issue, are you using the EQ when listening to music and possibly not disabling that on the voice call?
I've never listed to music on the phone. I have an app for audiobooks but no EQ with it.
Solution for call headphone so loud
Hello,
The only one solution that I have found, is to root the phone with in order to install the Custom Kernel : Boeffla-Kernel
The App of this kernel let you reduce the sound of the headphone output so in communication with headphone you will have a volume as low as you want.
May be that others custom Kernel permits to do that,
Enjoy,

need that too!
First make sure your media volume limiter is off, then go to equalizer and push all frequencies to max, that should give you about 10 dB extra.
Can't promise that it will work but they're is an app called SpeakerBoost that I've installed

how do you do that
settings/sounds and vibration/sound quality and effects
actually just go to settings, click on search functions (circle with with line on the bottom, top right corner) and type media volume limiter, or whatever function you're looking for
I try it, but continue with low volume. My previous Note 2 had louder audio.
ok
Just a comment, my 950F does not have a media volume limiter option
Download "Speaker Booster" on the Play Store. Hope this helps
I tried pretty much everything but nothing really actually worked. If you use the SoundAlive profiles or boost the EQ it just limits the two top volume levels from working.
I have now rooted and manually changed the mixer_gains.xml file and it's amazing now. super loud with no distortion at all.
Sadly rooting is really the only way to go. Dunno why Samsung limit the volume so much when the DAC is capable of a far better volume output. It's the one thing that really lets this handset down.

All you need to do is change the values in mixer_gains.xml as per the screenshot. Root only of course.
This is only for the wired headphone volume.
After trying about 5 models of headphones and being ridiculously low volume in all of them (especially in Spotify and YouTube videos), I found a expensive solution, but that has solved the problem withoutroot, i have bought the Jaybird X3, very good quality, very good volume and good insulation, despite being in ear.
I still think that with normal headphones, such as those that come in the box of AKG, Xiaomi Piston 2, Sony STH32, Sony SBH24 or even the great AudioTechnica M40X the volume is ridiculously low on this mobile.
Greetings.
It is ridiculously low, and has been on Samsung mobiles for a while now. Seems they need to protect us from ourselves. sad.
As stated above, root and a simple change to a text file makes one hell of a difference.
Another good solution is an external DAC like the Creative E3. It works well too and no need to root.

Could you please advice if this would work if you use Bluetooth devices, such as speakers or headphones? I mean it is so annoying that samsung actually achieve year over year to have worst volume... just when you think it couldn't get worst.
