Changing the DPI to 440 breaks the phone app. - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

When i changed my phone' DPI to 440 it broke the default dialer app, like the arrows were missplaced. Is there any way to fix this ?

How did you change your density? If you just did this via ADB, you may experience some oddities - I had some issues with the Play Store.
If you are rooted, I would recommend adding the following build.prop entry:
ro.sf.lcd_density=440

this method might also create issue with some apps and with play store. I would prefer changing density via local.prop method but sadly that won't work on user-release roms.

Unfortunately, since you are not rooted, ADB wm density command is the only option you have. I'll search on my own and hope to find a method but i know wm density is the only one possible for non-root users.

I can confirm that some build prop edit apps can break things. I've been applying build.prop tweaks using FX file manager without any problems.

Google blocked it from all devices except Nexus devices, so you won't find it there. They also blocked being able to install the apk alone so I installed it using the aroma open Gapps zip. You need to install the framework and the dialer.

That's why I aaalways say again and again:
DON'T use global DPI change!
Use Xposed module "App Settings" and customize the DPI only for those apps for which you need it.

This does not happen in my case. I have no adverse effects from changing my dpi globally.

I don't know about a permanent fix, but a work-around could be changing the dpi to 160 (or whatever), getting the apps you want and then going back to 132.
Good luck.
ps: there's probably a build.prop change out there........search.

[APP/GUIDE] Per app dpi control for most ROMs using Xposed

I Just thought of posting this where more people could see and use it
How to change dpi of individual apps on almost ANY ROM:
Tested and working on:
Stock ICS ROM (tested on Optithrust, should work on other ICS ROMs like Django, Flexicer etc. too)
CM10 (tested on pengus77's ROM. should work on other cm10/cm10.1 roms too)
Tested and not working on(yet):
MIUIv4
When I tried Jishnu's optithrust (Stock ICS ROM), it worked for changing density of root explorer and nova launcher app. (Take a backup first if you need to)
It is simple.
All steps are easy to do, and 4 out of 5 steps need to be done only once. After that, you can easily change the dpi of any app.
1. Download and install the file(apk) attached here.
(It is an ingenious framework mod developed by rovo89. All credit to him)
2. Open the app and click on "Install/Update" button. Then reboot.
3. Download and install this: http://d-h.st/OTS like a regular app.
Full credit to Tungstwenty and rovo for this great app.
this is the original download link, but it doesn't work at the moment. Rename file extension from zip to apk if you have downloaded from here
(ill remove the mirror as soon as i get come to know that the original one is working again)
4. Now a notification comes in notification bar, open the first app (Xposed Installer) by pressing that notification and in "modules" tab, tick the Xposed App settings (should be the only option) box.
Reboot.
Above steps 1 to 4 need to be done only for the first time
5. Now after rebooting, open "xposed app settings" (2nd app) and select any app from the list, enable its toggle above (there's only one button, you cant miss it ), and set its dpi to whatever you want and save. For best experience, keep the value of dpi between 160 and 240.
Remember, as always, some apps may look weird on low dpi. They were not designed for a lower dpi. For example, when I tried on stock lg launcher, it looks weird, because it is natively designed for 240 dpi, but nova launcher, trebuchet and most other apps should look proper
Thanks to the rovo89 and xposed app settings developer Tungstwenty.
Cheers

Hi Rugglez....
Is there any method in Xposed to set Overall DPI meaning for UI as well as apps.... I tried to reduce the DPI of "Android System" but the keyboard here gets crazy (Key will be shown at one place but u will have to press it at another place in order to type it ).... I searched and found one "Tablet UI" module but it also doesn't work .....
Thanks

Don't change dpi of android system
As far as I know, in this app, you can change dpi only one by one. For changing dpi of everything, you can set the value in build.prop but dont try that since it messes up app compatibility in play store. But by changing dpi once for required apps like systemUI, launcher, settings etc. you can get a similar experience overall.
Update: @owais40 I think the tablet module existed in the older version, can't find it now. If you are on the older version, try updating to the newest one, link updated in OP a few hours ago. Even the settings app has been updated on that site.
When I changed the screen dp setting for Gmail app to 600x1024, the hybrid (tablet) mode got activated. So you can try that out with apps that you think may have hybrid mode support
Settings app doesn't show split ui though, maybe our device cm version doesn't support.
I have updated both framework and settings apps but the Tablet UI Module doesn't work with that ... Didn't try though for older versions ... So currently I use build.prop method to set my overall DPI and this http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/microdownloads/all-apps-in-play-store.15/viewfile Module to fool the Play Store.... Thanks for all your help ....

Nice!
Xposed is really a handy framework that lets you do so much with innovative modules like these. It deserves much more attention than what it has currently got. Kudos to the developer rovo89
You can also do this:
Set overall dpi in build.prop and in this per-app-dpi settings module you can set play store dpi to 240 (and of course, adjust dpi of any other app specifically too if desired). Expecting that to work too. That way, complete control can be obtained

Maybe rovo would prefer if people edit in the gui of an app rather than make changes in build.prop every time the rom is flashed, and maybe avoid errors people might make in the syntax there too. (although i guess the framework install button may have to be pressed on updating the rom too anyway )

AOSP apps remover v1.2 | Android 7.x | 11/08/16

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices or other issues.
For all of you who likes clean ROM and hate duplication between system and user apps folders this tool will help. This will remove all defaults AOSP apps except launcher and keyboard. I suggest after removing to install pico version of gapps or all of this will not make much sense. Also boot animation will be gone, trim it to the bone
For everything else you may need use Play Store. This way upgrading existing apps will not make any duplicates.
Please don't hesitate to post if you like to see some more apps to be included in this remover.

I've noticed this too on my Nexus 6 regardless of ROM- Google Camera does not show up in the PlayStore. Like others have mentioned if you sideload the apk from somewhere like apkmirror it will work. I ran this while doing a clean install of Pure Nexus. Zips flashed in TWRP in this order: 1) Pure Nexus, 2) Full GAPPS (linked from Pure Nexus), 3) B14CKB1RD kernel, 4) phh's superuser, 4) 320 dpi, 5) AOSP apps remover. Google camera was available on first boot. ?
Two possible AOSP app oversights: AOSP keyboard (risky, I get it), and AOSP spell check (part of keyboard app?).
No problems experienced after booting into ROM and getting everything setup to taste. This is now a go-to/must have flash for me. Thanks!

Yeah, on 7.1.1 right now. The Pure Nexus FAQ clued me into these flashables. Adjusting the display size may confuse the DPI change, but a reflash of the DPI zip fixed it for me in 7.0 (and I haven't messed with it in 7.1.1).

Remove/Hide IME Keyboard Switcher notification and icon for OnePlus 3 (OOS/FreedomOS)

This notification appears if you have 2+ languages or 2+ keyboards.
Some ROMs have a built in option to hide it, but many don't.
There used to be Xposed module to hide IME Keyboard Switcher notification and icon (link below) :
http://repo.xposed.info/module/biz.underpants_gnomes.android.xposed.mods.hidexposedime
Obviously Xposed doesn't work in Nougat (yet?). I was wondering if someone can make a Magisk module to hide this annoying thing.

I have noticed a weird thing with this module. When I go to Google Play store I have a strange box in the search field (screenshot attached). Also if I choose an installed app in the store and try to go into three dot menu (not enable/disable auto-update) store crashes. It is definitely because of this module, because when I disable it, this strange behavior stops. Wondering if you have any clue what could be a cause of it.

This one is should be safe for other phones as well. All I did was use blank pngs instead of the keyboard icons.

Single button navigation

Hello everyone I just got the Moto x4 a few days ago from Best buy and didn't notice it was the Android one version. So I was wondering if there was a way I could get the Moto navigation through the fingerprint button like the regular version
Thanks in advance

I swear by it but my wife doesn't. It is irreversible unless you wipe.

<warning> I don't know the impact of changing this build.prop (whether it messes up OTAs or other stuff)
ro.mot.android_one=true
Step 1) Need some way to modify build.prop.
the best/easiest way (with ablility to maintain OTA/safetynet through some workaround)
- install magisk (systemless)
- install magiskhide props (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-t3789228)
- safetynet should still pass
2) Use your method from (1) to change this build.prop. I used MagiskHideProps to delete it entirely
ro.mot.android_one
3) reboot, go into Moto app, you can enable/disable OneNav AND Attentive Display
you can enable, and disable, and re-enable without any issues
I don't know if other features (disabled on A1, enabled on non-A1) are available (Moto Voice, Moto Access etc)

You can just found in build.prop line
ro.mot.android_one=true

Click to collapse
and change it to
ro.mot.android_one=false

Cool thanks everyone I'll give it a try
You will need root to change build.prop
There are build.prop editors on the Goole Play Store that make it really easy to edit the file.
I'm currently using:
BuildProp Editor
Ravil Khabiakhmetov
The others work well, too.
Just in case anyone needed more help.
