Hello, I have a problem, I wanted to do a backup before testing other kernels, unfortunately I can not read the pen via OTG. This is regularly recognized with telephone on but when I go into recovery, when choosing where to save backup, I can not choose the pen, i try to change my pen, but same story, what can it be ??
Thanks

Nobody?the last time it worked, After I made a backup with TWRP the only thing I did,I flashed another kernel with bootloop, then I flashed what I had (arter 21.1)..

Help with nandroid restore

I rooted someone's phone earlier and first tried to flash AmonRA 1.5.2. It wouldn't load into recovery, so I flashed 1.2.3. That one worked, but wanted a newer one, so I went with God Speed. I made a backup and then flashed a 2.1 ROM. I was then showing him how to do a nandroid backup and restore and it wouldn't restore. I made another backup of the new ROM and tried to restore it. Still wouldn't restore. I then flashed AmonRA 1.6.2 and tried the same thing. Still would not restore. Everything works fine on my phone and they are both w/Google phones. I also copied his sdcard to my computer and reformatted his sdcard. Still would not work. Any ideas or suggestions.
'Wouldn't restore' is kind of vague. Did it appear to restore but not? Did the restore fail, and if so, what message came up?
try to rename the nandroid and make sure you phone is plugged into the wall or pc when restoring.

He'll only need to rename it if he already renamed it and put spaces in it. Plugging it into the wall won't make a difference unless the screen is shutting down due to power issues during the restore.
Two reasons why I asked for further clarification on what happens during a restore attempt.

restore via adb always happens when a nandroid has been renamed and has a space in it. I'm not saying that's the ONLY reason, but it's the only time I've ever seen or heard of it.
let me look at the copies on my computer.
The error I get is to do it via adb. But I didn't rename it or anything. All I did was
1. Flash the recovery
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Perform Nandroid Backup (just the basic nand backup)
4. Installed DC2.07 as that was what I had on my computer
5. Rebooted and let it load
6. Rebooted into recovery
7. tried to restore and I get the error about performing it via adb
Tried the same routine everytime I flashed a new recovery
Edit:Just checked the nandroid backups---There are no spaces

Interesting. Then I'd try what fixxer said and plug it into the wall before trying the restore.
I will try that tomorrow

hi there
i actually had the same problem today but then i learned (through a search...woah!!) that there is an newer ra, and after an update it worked like a beaut. perhaps your recovery is outdated...or maybe the nandroid is corrupted?
good luck!

I'm pretty sure 1.6.2 is the newest which is what is on there now. I've read of other peoples problems and solutions and tried what i rememebered, but it happened with every one I tried.

You're not on an ext4 filesystem are you? If so, you'll want godspeed (toast's version of the 1.6.2 recovery image). I believe it handles ext4 restores whereas the original 1.6.2 doesn't (if I remember correctly).

No, I did partition it to see if that would help, but only converted it to ext3. But I did not try nand+ext. I had him register with the site and will direct him to this thread.
Nandroid Restore
Yeah, i'm the one having this problem. I'm new to modding phones and not for sure what to do. &RoidRage is trying to help me out, if anyone else can that's figure it out that would be great.
Anytime I received the the "via adb" error, it was due to their not being enough memory on the sd card. I found you typically will need a little over 1 GB on the card remaining to do anything: Restore, or backup.
Hope that helps.
And make sure your battery is charged.

[Q] Wiped everything using TRWP, now stuck on startup screen

Hello, I'm kinda new to the android scene.
Yesterday, I wanted to restore my phone to factory settings but the s3 mini toolkit said that usb debugging was not on (but it was) so I thought I could just wipe everything using TRWP, boy was I wrong.
I tried to flash my phone back to stock via odin but my computer won't even detect the phone(uninstalled and installed phone firmware). I tried placing the md5 file into the microsd in hopes of flashing it via TRWP but it's not recognized either.
Did I brick my phone? lol
Phone does not recognise microsd or md5?
In first case, try ADB and push some custom rom to phone. Try with universal naked driver.
In second case, try .zip custom rom.
But if it is like TWRP for ASUS TF300, then wipe everything means everything, so you're doomed.

Do you even get a bootscreen? Its possible to factory reset in twrp but i guess you wiped the system partition too
thanks guys! it seems I solved the problem through further use of google
I just reflashed the rom that I was previously on with TRWP and everything works now woot!

[Q] zips and backups gone from TWRP file manager

please help me I am a newbie but I am NOT a dummy I rooted with towel route installed twrpcustom recovery as I was flashing last night when I did my wipe I look down and all my files were gone and all the zips all the backups and now I don't know what to do I got a guy on the way to buy the phone and I've got to restore it I have no computer help me .please. I can still get into twrp recovery. I just don't have a computer. I used flashyfi to install recovery.. And I can install SuperSU. But there is no is. Pleeeeeassse help..
If you don't have a computer I would recommend using a thumb drive and otg cable if you have one and use that to flash the ROM again.

[SOLVED] Bricked by TWRP

EDIT: I realized that i had the wrong TWRP version for the backup, i already could restore the correct backup and the phone is already working with CM12.1
Hi, i have a i8190N phone, so, i flashed TWRP 2.6.3.0 via TWRP Manager (the data pins on the charge port don't carry signal so i can't connect my phone to a pc for data), after doing it i made a backup, i tried to flash CM12.1 and it didn't work, so i restored the backup and it came back to normal, after that i did a second try, this time using CWM Touch, failed again flashing, so i flashed TWRP 2.7.0.0 and it didn't work restoring this time, it gets stuck at middle and after long times it says failure, i really need help because i'm soft bricked because of this! :'(

If you made a backup with 2.6.3.0, it only can be restored with twrp 2.6.3.0, not with other twrp version. Made with CWM, only can be restored with cwm version xxx, got it!? So, flash/install back 2.6.3.0, if you want to restore that backup

Try flashing a stock rom and then try to flash TWRP again

Do yo enable USB Debugging on your phone? And try to wipe data also while wiping in custom recovery, then install root file (I suggest to use superSU) before you flashing CM12.1 rom again.

internal storage inaccessible after firmware flash

hey guys,
i got a problem with my m7. yesterday i flashed the current gpe firmware for the m7 (that one without stock recovery & boot img). i read in the lineage thread that the rom benefits from it in terms of battery endurance, so wanted to give it a try.
the firmware flash process was done without any problems. i entered the recovery (twrp 3.0.0-2) and i wiped everything except usb-otg. twrp showed me that every partition was wiped successfully. i plugged in my usb cable to copy the lineage rom and gapps on the phone, but then i noticed that it somehow didnt work. i checked the internal storage of my phone and noticed that all the files i "successfully" wiped before still were there.
i flashed back to the firmware i had before (7.19.401.51 without modifications etc.) because i hoped it would give me access to the internal storage but unfortunately the problem remained the same.
now i cant copy anything on the phone to flash some new roms and stuff and i cant use it because theres no rom installed.
guys please help me if you can i really appreciate it! (sry for any mistakes im not a native english speaker)
Maybe flash latest version of twrp might help you? https://dl.twrp.me/m7univ/
hey mate,
somehow i managed to bring my phone back to life. i dont know if it has anything to do with the newest twrp but im very happy that it works. thank you for your help!
