Anybody waiting till Black Friday? - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

I'm thinking about waiting till Black Friday, but 3 months is a long time. How much do you think the price will drop by then?
Sent from my SM-G930T using XDA-Developers mobile app

Maybe 100 bucks
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk

That's a long time but I bet the unlocked carrier version will appear by then since it took 3+ months on the S7/Edge.
Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk

You will loose free Samsung 256 GB SD card (full retail $250) or Fit 2 Samsung gear (full retail $180 I think) if you wait past 8/28. But if you are on very tight budget, maybe Note 5 or even Blu or Xiaomi would be good enough. If you're not on a tight budget, $100 may not make much difference in the long run and waiting 3 months is a long time. You could probably sell Samsung freebies now and recover good part of $100, or if you wait long enough the price will drop to $200-$300, especially 1-2 yrs from now, when non replacable batteries will start to wear out.

There are always bargains of some kind. I wouldn't sweat it. Would rather get the net discount than a freebie.

nexus 7 8gb being discontinued for 16gb and 32gb

Apparently we who preordered the nexus 7 early got bamboozled (lol) , the 8gb will be discontinued and the 16gb will take its place at $199. While the 32gb will replace the 16gb.

UGH, think their 10/29 release date is just a few days out of 30 days if they give a price adjustment from Walmart that far out. Bought the 16 back on 9/26.
Not cool Asus..... Or Google or whoever

Deal with it bros.
You bought the product because were happy with the price and gear being offered.
The Nexus 7 is a damn good deal any way you look at it. $50 extra to have this thing for 2-3 months which would have otherwise been spent dreaming of purchasing one and browsing sites for the best deals all day?
I'm happy with my purchase still. I feel bad for anyone who got an 8gb though.

Not to mention we early adopters got $25 plat store credit. So it's not that bad.
Sent from my HTC Ruby using xda app-developers app
I hardly buy anything from the play store. While the credit is nice to have, I rather see a less amount on my credit card bill.
It's something I'll have to get over but I technically haven't even paid for it yet since the bill isn't due lol. So.. yeah, in that case I'm a little annoyed.

I knew that a that better / cheaper SKU would show up, didn't expect it before Christmas TBH, but I don't care I wanted to experience stock Jelly Bean asap. I've ordered a usb-otg cable and tasty 32 GB USB 3.0 pendrive, which has the benefit of being used over multiple devices.
I'm not really mad I'm just disappointed in Google's marketing. Not a lot of people buy into the nexus brand and Its really not nice to do what they are going to do but since I love this device so much I'm not going to get mad, I'm just going to right them a nice message of what I think about this on October 29th.
Now I'm thinking if I should buy the nexus 4 when they release it or wait.
I'm wondering if people sending in 8gb sets for RMA would get a 16gb back.
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
I've had mine for about a week and love it. I have a 30 day return policy, if my store got them by Oct 29, wonder if they would let me return it?

I guess you can still call it a rumor. But the 32GB is obviously real at $250 and the 16GB isn't going away, so it'll almost certainly drop to $200. There isn't room for an 8GB model.
I think it's just common sense at this point that the 8GB model is about to get clearanced at the end of the month.

From a business stand point, they are going to sell the 8GB at 199 till it's out of stock, then push the 16gb down to 199 and throw in the 32gb at 250.

2-3 months? That's perhaps true if you're in the US, where it's been released first - not counting some later adopters who didn't get it from day 1. That's not true anymore in some other countries, where it's been out for quite less than 2 months.

Guess what? In those countries where it's been released more recently, the credit is still active... and thus I'd bet the early 32GB buyers will still get it.
So, yes, it IS bad, when there's a 32GB model scheduled for the same price as your 16GB unit, 45 days (since there are obviously numerous leaks) after it's been available in your country.

I have to agree. The people that have had there's for 31-45 days get screwed the hardest. They're just outside the return/refund window and have had so little time with there's to really enjoy it before a price drop and a higher capacity model for the same damn price is released...
I'm one of those people and I'm pretty miffed... I'll be very caution and wait 2-3 months after every new Nexus release or simply not buy from Google at all... we shall see...

Bought the 8 at launch from the Play Store to see if I would like using a tablet. Now I use it all the time. Rely on it. So. Afraid to root it in case I brick it. Want root for Stickmount. 32G means I can have a load of storage and root my 8 with no fear. Cool. Also, its easy to forget just how low cost these devices really are. I think the 32 is a response to the ongoing criticism of the non expandable storage capacity. I like that they listened.

A UK based catalouge retailer called Argos has published it's Christmas supplement with the 32GB being £199.99
Now they have stopped the Play Store credit and freebies, along with great economies of scale, maybe the 8 GB will get a price cut to undermine the cheapest Kindle Fire?

[UK] Nexus 5 General UK Chat

Thought i'd start a thread for UK chat regarding orders pricing etc as we had for the Nexus 4 before.
So who has a good idea on pricing? If it's under £250 for 16gb i'll be tempted. Any closer to the £300 mark and i'll probably go with the MI3. I'm currently using a THL W200 i'm a phone addict
Well when the Nexus 4 launched it was $299 in the US and £239 in the UK, and the price leaks for the 16GB Nexus 5 have been $299 so if we were to believe these leaks then the UK price will again be £239.
I think the 16gb would be either £239 or £249 and the 32gb £299. Reasonable price to be fair. Xiaomi Mi3 only will have MIUI support no other custom ROM just like the previous Xiaomi.
I'll be upgrading from my nexus 4, if rumours of a larger battery for the 32gb then I'll go for that if not 16gb is more than enough for me with all the cloud storage etc available.
Come on Google, just release it already damn you!

I will be ordering mine as soon as i can, i have £350 just waiting for it to go on sale. Cannot wait as been waiting months already for it, as for the prices I reckon we could be looking at £280 for 16gb and £320 for 32gb
My family lives in London, I bought my Nexus 4 from Carphone warehouse ( They did for me and sent it to me later on ), it was for sure more expensive than it was on Googleplay, any UK resident can tip me how do I have to buy the Nexus 5 this time for a cheap-google price? I should only go with Googleplay ?
Unless it's already sold out, you're buying it subsidised with a contract, or you're impatient enough that you can't wait a day or two for shipping, I can't think of any reason not to buy it directly from Google.
Just checking in, Will probably be getting the 32GB if I can.
Does anybody know if the Nexus4 Launched at midnight UK for the UK or did it launch at Midnight USA in all areas.
i've had my n4 since launch and hoping for these from the n5
improved camera esp in low light
better battery life
a buzzing free earpiece w/ improved call quality
<£300 simfree
gimme those and and i'm in

if it is the same googleplay setup with subsidized pricing then that is the ONLY place to get it without others adding on their £££
I think I'm willing to go up to £350 if it ticks all the boxes for me.

Fellow UK brahs..
Do yous reckon it's a worthy upgrade? Kind feel like I'd be paying for something the same but with white status icons and a slightly bigger screen?

if the camera is as good as the lg g2 then it is worth it for that alone in my eyes

Despite my Nexus 4 still going strong, one of the major reasons I'm going to upgrade is proper 4G LTE support. 4G services for the rest of the networks have started going live. Being on the Three network on The One Plan lets me take advantage of it as soon as it is available. But of course I need a phone that supports LTE, and thus my upgrade.
Hmm still not a peep of it yet...I'll keep checking back all morning not sure why as if I get it I can't afford it til Friday at all.

In my opinion, no. And for the following reasons:
The only worthy (to me) improvements will be a larger 4.95" 1080p screen and slightly smaller phone dimensions. Things like purported camera improvements and faster processor are not important to me cause I wont notice the difference. I am also not ready to pay LTE prices as I only ever use mobile data when I am commuting so the inclusion of LTE doesnt matter. Finally the N4 is such a beautiful phone and the N5 has nothing on it in the looks department.
If you currently use a GNex then it would be a worthy upgrade, if you have an N4, less so.

I'll be getting it as soon as it's pre-orderable (if that's a word).
My Galaxy S3 is on it's last legs and would like to turn it into a dash cam after getting a new phone.
Currently hoping that they announce a Nexus 10 2013 as well because I can't justify getting a Nexus 5 and a 7 since they're so closely related...a new 10 inch tab would be lovely though. I dropped my Prime and it shattered into a thousand pieces so this month will be an expensive one.
I am wondering if they're going to do a staggered release like they did with the 2013 Nexus 7. I think it did prevent a lot of ordering havoc but we had to wait an extra month after the initial release in the USA which sucked.
I'm already to go for this as well... but that being said, not having a firm release date is a pain..
Hi,
I'll probably upgrade just because it has LTE and 32GB .... I always had 32gb phones with the exception of my current Nexus 4 and i'm already struggling with space... The only thing that bothers me is the size... i already had a 5" phone and it was very unconfortable to use the phone with only one hand....
I think the size of the Nexus 4 is perfect for me

"$299 Samsung Gear 2, the $199 Gear 2 Neo and the $199 Gear Fit"

"$299 Samsung Gear 2, the $199 Gear 2 Neo and the $199 Gear Fit"
A whole lot of Samsung is about to come to AT&T. Today, the carrier announced that pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S5 will begin tomorrow both online and in stores, with shipping to start in early April. Pricing is set at $200 with a two-year contract, though it's also available for a monthly fee with AT&T's Next plans. (US Cellular customers, incidentally, will also be able to pre-order the GS 5 tomorrow for $200 on-contract.)
And that's not all: tomorrow, AT&T will also put Samsung's trio of wearables up for pre-order. This includes the $299 Samsung Gear 2, the $199 Gear 2 Neo and the $199 Gear Fit. Shipping for those devices will also begin in early April.
@engadget
this is right on the pricing i expected. it seems fair priced to me.
Which means the price of the original gear should fall tomorrow too.

Unless the battery is replaceable like any real watch, such that it can be used in perpetuity, there's NO WAY in HELL this is worth it.
$300 for a watch with a battery that'll last 2 years tops is paying $150 / yr or almost $13 / month to use it, with it's usability due to steadily falling battery capacity affecting performance all along the way.
NOT A REAL WATCH. NO THANKS

It's pretty easy to remove the back cover and swap the battery. A suitable replacement can be easily found at places like HobbyKing, though it would probably be a while before anyone actually has to go that route.

I guess getting an ipad, nexus tablet or any other manufacture sealed tablet is out of the question too. They are supposed to be used for 2 years @599 that's 25$ a month to use it.
Most people would upgrade to something better after 2 years anyway. Technology is moving the fast these days that in 2 years time the features packed into a smartwatch would be insane.

I think we sill see a gear 8 by then anyway at the rate samsung is going
That's why most forward thinking people are only buying devices with user replaceable batteries.
I reward companies that let me decide on my own terms when to get on or off the upgrade treadmill, instead of forcing obsolescence.

what did you pay for your Note 4?

$806 from T-Mobile.
coming from a Note 2, but man is that expensive! I've had buyer's remorse for a day but then realized that i will be using this for the next 3 years. it replaces a computer, so i guess i should stop whining.
Hey, it's not that bad. I paid $922.68 in Poland with shipping and some accessories included. Since I bought it for my business I will write it off my taxes though (meaning it will be 33% cheaper).
Paid $816.53 (which includes $6.99 S/H, and $60.54 tax - yes Cali has high taxes). I'll feel better about paying this, when I get the $200 from Samsung's promotion deal! lol
779.21 USD for mine.
480€ in Romania at my Vodafone contract.
it is too much for note 4 i think the best i'm going to do its buy an iphone 6 plus 16 gb in 750$ and when the price of the note 4 goes down i will sell the iphone and buy it, it's just samsung products devaluate very fast so it doesn't worth it.
Well thats certainly one way to do it. I prefer to just get the phone I want instead of getting one I dont want, having the hassle of selling it after X months, and then finally getting the phone I want. If you have the 750 anyways, whats the difference? Youd save what... 50-100 bucks on this entire ordeal? My time (picking up the iphone, selling it, setting up the iphone) combined with rebuying the apps I need on a different OS really evaporates the few bucks saved. For me, at least.
in my country is not easy to spend that kind of money i mean 100 $ it's a lot of money here

Upcoming upgrade

My annual upgrade is approaching. I LOVE my Nexus 6 <3 I'm on the AT&T Next plan and I'm unsure what I should get. I looked at the LG V10 but it seems the bootloader is locked on AT&T. Does AT&T even offer the 6P? Should I go with another Motorola? I'd like to be able to fully root with an unlocked bootloader to use themes (currently I use layers) and Xposed mods. Any suggestions? Anyone upgraded yet? TIA

You can buy the 6P and the Huawai in China and they will finance it for you. Screw the carrier, trust me its a much better option.
Also once my contract dropped AT&T gave me double the data. I now have 20gbs for $100 monthly so it's better you stay off because you can bargain.

That's interesting. My mom's phone is off contract since August, she lives out of state so I haven't had a chance to replace it for her. It seems that they want to charge more monthly if you don't do the next plan now. I had signed a 2 year with her line on a LG G2 (I believe) and I was going to renew and just send her another cheaper android phone but when I saw the message that they'd increase her line amount monthly I was like WTF. We have a big plan, 3 tablets and 4 phones with all different dates, the only 2 with the same date are my Nexus 6 and my daughter's iPhone 6+ and she already has the rose colored 6S+ picked out LOL. I believe it's around Valentines day we can trade in, so I have a bit of time to decide.
Don't they keep charging you monthly on next even if you don't upgrade after 12 months?

No, it's the same price. The only way the plan increases is if you sign a two year contract. If you pay off your phone and buy a new phone like the Nexus the plan stays the same. They were probably just poorly educated on their services. Just don't go on another contract and it will be fine.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
It maybe abit of alot of money but its cheaper to buy the phone without any carrier involved as you will end up with a phone without any logos ( which destroy the look of any phone ) and no carrier crap installed , plus the big win is a firmware upgrade that can be months ahead of the carrier versions , also you would probably get an international phone which has more bands to use on any network , thats what i always do then i get a sim only contract which in the end will save you enough money to have a cheap holiday
