Hi I just recieved a used galaxy gear from a friend and I was wondering is there a way to use a map application with the gear galaxy?
I would like to look at directions while biking without taking out my phone constantly. I tried to search for map app info in this forum but I was confused. I am borrowing my friend's samsung note 2 for the time being but I can't find any map app in the gear manager. His phone is chinese, is this a reason why there is no map apps? I would like to use the galaxy gear with my old one plus. I would love for some advice to help a newbie around here. Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this question. Thank you very much.

Hello xda users. I am going to get my new tilt in 2 weeks. Converting from my 4 year old sony erricson t610. I started reading about cooked roms yesterday. I am thinking about flashing with Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19209.
I previously used SPB Pocket Plus on axim x50v and it adds alot of utility. Is the HTC Home Plugin that comes with Dutty's ROM similar?
I read about the HTC Home Customizer but it does not say if you can change individual tabs. For example, I want to switch the music tab to a news plugin tab. I also want to change the photo speed dialer tab to another apps tab. Is this possible?
Thanks

Don't worry, A new KING will take his place soon enough.
Wow, I guess the other sites weren't kidding when they said noobs get burned if they don't search the this forum. I searched for 10 mins but no luck. Here is what I am assuming:
You cant add or delete tabs. (I want to delete photo speed dial/music tab)
You cant create a tab that will automatically execute a program like opera mini.
You cant create a news feed tab.
You cant install spb calendar plugin as one of the tabs.
Correct me if any of my assumptions are wrong or I guess I can wait for the next 2 weeks to get the phone before finding out myself.
Thanks
Did you search the Spb web site?

1) If you are talking about Spb Mobile Shell, then yes. (But has no music tab)
2) With Spb Pocket Plus you can add Opera Mini as a link in the tab.
3) You can create a news feed tab with Spb Insight.
4)There isn't a Spb Calender that I know of.
I searched everywhere but.............................is the new " I did not have sex with that woman." Just because you say it does not mean anyone is going to believe it.

First , welcome to Kaiser community
I think we can talk later when you have a hold on the device. Talking right now is just like teaching someone to play soccer without a ball. You need the thing to try what your read. This is application science , not theory

Lol. That was funny. Just happened to read that comment. So true. Kudos to you my friend.
Hi everyone,
Just curious which forum is the best for the GT-i9000M on Bell as it is referred to as the Galaxy S and also as the Vibrant and I see that the Vibrant has its own fourm here on the site.
Dont know if it makes a difference or if there IS a significant difference between the 2 devices so any information out there that you can provide will be appreciated.
I have always used the i9000 forum and have never really even looked at what the Vibrant forum has to offer.
Please advise...
From what I know, I'ld classify it as the Galaxy S I9000 because the other one (Vibrant) have 4 buttons on the front and no front camera if I'm not mistaking...
Witch make the Vibrant different in term of hardware and therefore, causing compatibility issues with firmwares changes between one and the other.
The Bell one have only 3 buttons at the front buttom and a front camera also... just like the Galaxy S I9000
This is what I alwys assumed to be the case but it makes me wonder then... Why is this phone called the Samsung Galaxy S - Vibrant? Is this just a marketing ploy or gimmick?

you are in the right forum
Thanks for letting me know that allgamer... lol. I assumed I was in the right forum as I am asking a question.
My bad. I misunderstood your reply. You are saying that I am in the right forum and not telling me that I have posted in the right thread. LOL!!! My bad...
as for differences between the I9000 models
well the EURO model got a crappy GPS
the Canadian model got a weak Internal SD but good GPS
Not entirely true allgamer. My gps is NOT so good. It gets a signal lock SOMETIMES but then shows me on different streets (usually within a few blocks of my actual location) and then bounces around sometimes... Not the best thats for sure...
hmm... interesting, which GPS app are you using?
have you tried adjusting the accuracy settings?
It does this on both the Google Maps and the Google Navigation program on my phone. I have not tried it on the "paid" nav. app as I dont want to pay for it.
How do you set these settings that you speak of?

there are OpenSource Android GPS programs we have a topic about it... there are 4 or more to choose from
and there is NAVphone which is being given away for free by Samsung
find the GPS app topic on the Applications & Themes section
as for accessing the GPS menu use the Secret Codes, then you can adjust the settings of the Accuracy, by default is 50
Thanks for the info allgamer. I will look up the gps forum in a few mins. As for the NAVphone app you say that Samsung is giving away... Where do you find it? Is it in the topic that you speak of?
It is not in Samsung Apps on my phone so if you can tell me where I get it then that would be great.
As for these secret codes... Again... Where do I find these codes? Are they in the gps topic you speak of as well?
Please advise...

The GPS bug isn't related to the app using the GPS.
Of course you will not always see errors with car navigation app. That's not the point. A software that shows your location on a map is much more precise.
Anyways it is clearly not true that every GT-i9000M has a good GPS, as many people (me included) reported problems.
wiki has the link for the secret code forum topic, and the most used ones

Thanks for the link to the wiki for the codes. Much appreciated but can you please narrow down the opensource gps programs trhat you speak of?
All I can find in the Themes and Apps forum is the NAVfone discussion but I dont see any real info on the other GPS programs you speak of unless I am blind.
Tell me, is this NAVfone thing an app and does it work in Canada?
here to start, and follow the rest of the info

Hello all,
what are your top 10 apps on the Galaxy?
I have Googled this - but other than general top 10 Android apps, there was no hit.
Since the Galaxy tab is not the same as any general Android phone, the top 10 probably are not the same either. Also, new apps come all the time, so a list from a year ago would not necessarily be the same today.
So: would you be so kind to share with me (to help me discover my brand new Galaxy Tab - bought two days ago) what you consider the best / most useful / must have apps for it?
If this has been already posted somewhere - in that case please forgive my question, and pls point me to the right direction.
Thank you all!
Anyone? I have downloaded thousands of apps - and I really would not like to try all of them...
I have also tried a couple considered "best" for general android use, and they did not even work on the Galaxy tab...
Please point me in the right direction...
Nobody replied because there is no answer. Ther is no top 10 "best" apps as it all depends on the person who uses the device.
There is a "Must have" topic, you are better of looking through that for peoples "preferences" and see what you like sound of.

I don't se why they wouldn't work on your tab, the only thing that might be off is the scaling of the app fitting the tabs screen. If that's the case in which you speak of "not working", just download "spare parts" from the market , open it and scroll down to compatibility mode. If its checked, then uncheck it ( or viceversa check if unchecked) and reboot then once rebooted do the same and reboot and they should all fit your screen. Let us know if that helps.

So does anybody knows WHY on earth do we have to do this? and please.... i must not syncronise with some weird onlineservice like google, itunes or any cloud.... just totaly simple my pocketphone
and is it possible to back it up on the sd ?
I would looooooove to get a hint :highfive:
hopefully some day smarter
take care
so, anyone wants to buy a s2 mini?
Good Evening:
This is my first time and first post here. I've gotten pretty frustrated and am hoping someone can help me out? I have a Galaxy S phone, model number SHW-110S; firmware: 2..2; kernel: 2.6.32.9; build version: FroYo.SK22. I've been all over the net and can't seem to get the users manual specific to this particular phone. So, I have a number of questions? Let's start with this one: where can I get/download a users manual specific to this phone? If it becomes too difficult to find, then my next question would be: Can I upgrade this phones O.S.? Now, there are still many more questions, but I think that's enough to get started in the right direction.
Thank You:
Rick
Hi, ive been lurking a long time and I believe that your model of the Galaxy is a Korean version.
I found this page about turning the SHW-110S into an I9000 model. I can't post the link since i have less than 10 posts so just look up Turn SHW-110S to GT-I9000 (Samsung Galaxy S) on Google
I hope it can help you in some way. :good:
Maybe it helps asking your question in the galaxy s q&a subforum

REPLY TO kishagi:
Afternoon kishagi:
You are correct; it is a Korean make/model. It was with great interest that I read you reply. NO ONE has suggested this maneuver. And keeping with that theme, would it not be best just to upgrade the O.S? As far as I can tell, I can go only as far as Honeycomb 2,3,6(?). Now, should I option for this upgrade, I wonder if I'd be able to activate the FM/TV receiver in the phone? I've done a LOT of searching and believe I've found the answer to the FM question. That is to install a widget called simply "Galaxy S radio widget". However, it seems that widget is defunct(?). So, could you suggest another widget that is comparable and compatible with this phone? And would you know if I'd upgrade whether this widget would still operate in Honeycomb? THANX for responding and my apologies for taking so long to reply!
STAY SHARP:
Rick
ADDENDUM: This has got to be THE most frustrating forums/site I've ever been in!!!! Once you login, just trying to get back to this forum/subforum is a nightmare!! I'm also extremely disappointed by the lack of response/lack of knowledge this supposedly "special forum" delivers. Read the "into" to this forum, it clearly deceives anyone that comes to this forum into thinking their phones issues might be solved. I've not only had so much difficult in trying to start/post a "thread" (hell, most of the time I can't even find the "icon" to tik), once I login, I have one hell of a time even finding/getting into this subforum. I'm not getting/receiving responses to my questions. Clearly, there was no one devoting "'special" attention/service" to this forum as stated in the introduction. IF I find where to unsubscribe I will certainly do so. TO THE DEVELOPERS OF THIS FORUM: You and this supposed forum are a sad joke and a complete waste of time and space.!!!!!
