i guesse thats another broken screen - help thread, and i know im out of luck but here goes..
somebody's Lumia 530 has broken screen that is unlocked but touchscreen is not accepting any touch whatsoever. only the hardware volume buttons and the other main button on the sides. Of course no data/wifi, never had any outlook.com connected account and so on. Managed to get pics/vids by plugging it on the pc but theres no option or relevant directory through the windows phone explorer to look up any contacts which are stored locally on the phone, ONLY.
i tried Microsoft's "Project My Screen" which in fact could have saved me but when i start it up a prompt goes on to the phone asking for permission to be granted to the software which i cannot press and accept.....!! so damn close!!
.........................so any other way/software that could interact with the windows phone and let me transfer contacts? OR a way to actually press accept on the "Project My Screen" permission prompt??????
:crying:
Use WPinternals or WP recovery or Some Windows phone suites to backup everything
Contacts stored local? i dont think so... try in outlook live account.

Ok so as of last night my spb mobile shell, spb weather, the green phone button to get to the dialing pad to make a call does not work. The SPB menu i had added no longer shows. It just stays on the old today screen it had before the add ons. No longer have the extra add-ons as mentioned above and above all it says i have no service so i cant recieve calls or anymore texts. Looked in the com manager and its not in airplane mode or anything. The files for those add ons are still on my device though. The contacts have dissappeared from my text messages that were there from before this happened and now just the phone numbers show. I have tried and tried and searched and searched but no luck in finding a solution. If anyone could help me in figuring out what maybe happened and what i could do that would be so helpful. I have an AT&T Tilt unlocked to Tmobile. Did it relock itself? I went out with a friend and the phone was in a tiny clutch purse so it could be that it was pressing buttons while in there but i have the S2u2 lock app added which is the only thing that works still. The keyboard i added no longer shows up either but as i mentioned its all still installed on the phone. Did a reset with the tiny button at the bottom but nothing comes back up. When its loading back up a whole bunch of error messages come up in regards to some of the apps saying its is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. I tried syncing it to my laptop but the Windows Mobile Device just comes up with an error when its connecting it. I'd hate to loose everything because as many know it takes time in researching and learning and downloading all the tweaks for a phone. I have sprite backup but its not even showing the last backup i did. Please help me and direct me on what to do if you think you know what happened then that would help too. Thanks.
UPDATE
OK so I had to use my sprite backup create a backup so i could keep all of my files and then hard reset the phone. Now...question...I drug the SPB Mobile Shell, SPB Weather, Thumbapp Calendar, Kaiser Tweak, keyboard skin and Windows Mobile skin files from off the phone and just placed them on my laptop desktop. Now that I am starting with a clean slate, the service works (still unlocked ), I can use the green call button to make a call and the windows mobile device manager is recognizing and bringing up my phone on my laptop. Will i be able to drag those folders with the cabs etc from my laptop into my programs folder in my device from the WM Device manager or do i have to actually add the zip files and open in the phone?? In other words (in case im unclear) do i have to redownload all the cabs zip files for all the mods i made and open and load those into the phone, or can i just drag the folders from the previous load from my laptop onto my computer? Thanks for all your help.
P.S. after i hard reset, i restored that backup file and SPB menu still a no show, no other keyboard comes up aside from original and dialer is the default. So I hard reset again to start from scratch. Thanks
I was thinking about selling my HTC TyTN II but I have a lot of junk on it that I'd like to be removed. Were I selling a computer I'd simply reformat the drive and then reinstall the OS that it came with via a hidden partition or via CD's or whatever. Or, failing that, I'd take the hard drive out and sell it without the hard drive.
But for HTC smartphones / Windows Mobile, I don't know how to do this. Any ideas?
Easy as pie.
Start -> Settings -> System -> Clear Storage
This will erase all the data on the phone (but will leave your SD card untouched) and return it to factory specs.

Morning Yarnmoth, first remove any memory cards and your SIM card. If you want to sell the memory card with the phone then make a folder on your home computer and move not copy all the data from card to folder. To be double sure then format the card. Then connect the device to your Home computer. Use the home computer file explorer to open up the device. It will be rare that you haved saved anything outside the documents folder, but have a look anyway. If you have any folders saying for example pictures music or photos move them over to the home computer. Do the same with the contents of the documents folder. When you have removed all the data you require then remove device from your home computer.
The most important part, you have to profrom a hard reset details below
1 hold the left and right softkeys and then isert the stylus in the reset hole
2 keep pressing the soft keys and remove the stylus, after a short while you will see a screen saying "This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press SEND to restore manufacturer defaults, or press any other button to cancel."
3 release the two softkeys and press the send (green telephone) button.
Now your machine is in the factory default setting.
DO NOT connect your device to your home computer.
Start the device. You can set the phone up no problem ie time screen calibration.
use the built in file explorer to check if any data is on the device.
use the calendar contact programmes to check if of you personal info is on the machine
Any problems please message me

Thanks all!
So I've been diligently managing a pretty pristine outlook contact list that im pretty satisfied with. I've been syncing back and forth via bluetooth (usb port went bad about a year ago).
Recently i reformatted and reinstalled windows 7 on my computer. I did not back up my contacts on the computer because they are on the phone and figuring i'd get them on the re-sync (which I've done before). Unfortunately In that short time period I managed to smash my phone touch screen up pretty good, making things more difficult (and a lack of tap and hold). I cannot for the life of me get the two to sync up to each other via active sync. They pair together fine and send files back and forth to each other, but cannot get them to sync to each other. In the past i've just gone on the phone active sync > connect via bluetooth and then it starts doing its thing in windows mobile device center... Whenever I do it now I get the message
"cannot connect using bluetooth to a pc that supports active sync. you may be out of range. it then asks if i would like to create a different partnership with a pc."
I've obviously created a new pair, turned on visibility and discovery on both pc and phone. Each time it gives me that error message about creating a new pair.
A couple of side notes.
-I have some thoughts that it might be a conflict with the new and old bluetooth pairing but i cannot delete the old one due to the lack of touch screen for the tap and hold. (perhaps there is a way to do this on the hard keyboard)
-I could give a crap about the phone, I've already got a new one. I just want to preserve my contacts.
-I've made a pim backup and a sprite backup of pertinent info but its my understanding that both of these only work with my phone and not outlook, not to mention only my specific rom version.
What is the easiest way to proceed to salvage my contacts?
Sorry for the rather long post on a familiar and oft rehashed question but I couldn't find the answering in any other posts and wanted to be pretty clear with my post.
first of all, since you have made a pimbackup of contacts, your data is SAFE no matter what ROM or which windows mobile device you have! the sprite backup, on the other hand, CAN be specific to your ROM/device depending on exactly what you chose to back up.
so you can always restore the pimbackup archive to a good working windows mobile device (borrow a friends?) and sync up that device with your desktop.
with that out of the way...lets see...you've got a bad screen? i would suggest using a "remoting" tool (like mymobiler)...but i think mymobiler requires a working activesync over usb...but you say your usb port is screwed?
if you can use the screen just enough to install "wifi remote access 1.7" and configure it and enable WIFI, then you can remote control your device using the relevant functionality of "wifi remote access 1.7" from the browser on your desktop, assuming you have a WIFI network at home.
with the screen hurdle out of the way, i suppose it would make your ability to configure things on the device a bit more possible. for starters, even though you have used pimbackup, also install microsoft myphone and upload your contacts there as well. while you're at it, you can mess around with activesync on your device some more to try to get it to sync.
BUT! i think the problem might be on your recently refreshed desktop. i hear windows mobile device center should be upgraded because an update is available.
if all else fails, you can use pimbackup to create a "non-binary" archive (the style is configurable during the backup wizard use case). this non-binary archive is actually a zip file containing a csv file (comma separated values). so you can rename the archive to "something.zip", extract the zip on your desktop and use microsoft excel to open the extracted csv file. here, you will get an easy to edit file with your contacts laid out over rows/columns.
I have an HTC touch diamond, and my display is broken (phone is working, and screen also, but it cant sense/ "read" any touch). So i cant calibrate the screen, and because of that i cant do anything, but i really like to get my personal data (contacts, etc. ) from my phone. Are there any solutions to this problem? any software or some way to get back my data via pc?
Problem solved
I finally manage to solve the problem.
In case if somone else face the same situation i make a lil summary of what i did.
I always used a PIMbackup to backup my personal data (contacts, messages), but i use the binary backup, what is set by default and that's why i just cant extract the pib file from my phone (because in binary mode there are just a lot of NUL and other crap when u extract it- it makes a pbc file, and when u open it with notepad++/excel u cant get anything what makes sense)
So..
I connected my phone with a pc via activesync, and copied the last backup (.pib) file to my pc. <
then downloaded and installed Microsoft Device Emulator 3 from -download.microsoft.com/download/8/7/c/87c1f761-6deb-4cf4-90e5-65363f7bb7da/vs_emulator.exe
And then downloaded and installed windows mobile 6 professional images from- download.microsoft.com/download/0/1/2/012bfbba-9fe5-4e68-86c9-d434446d97dd/0409/Windows%20Mobile%206%20Professional%20Images%20(USA).msi[/url]
I dont know why, but u have to re-run Windows Mobile 6 Professional Images (USA).msi again and click repair. (at first time when u install it, it somehow skip some files or smth). And u may also get some visual studio error, but click ok.
Next, click Start -> Programs -> Windows Mobile 6 SDK -> Stand Alone Emulator Images -> USB English -> Professional
Then u can use wm in ur pc like a virtual machine. Then i just set the storage card location in phone to my pc-s Desktop. Downloaded PIM backup to my pc and open it with emulator , then select my pib file and restore it to my virtual windows mobile device. And then i was managed to view my contacs, but i make a new backup with emulator, but at this time i un-checked the binary backup box and set the backuplocation to storage card (what was my pc-s desktop).
Now when i have a new .pib file in my deskopt (without binary mode) i extract it with rar and get a .csc file, what u can open with notepad or excel, i profer notpad and check a word wrap. It's still a lot of crap, but u can find ur contacts and numbers.
And if u know some c/c++ u can make some lil program to get rid of that other crap u dont want in that file.
Maybe it's not the best and the easiest way to get back ur contacts, but thats the only way i was able to do that.
Another solution
10n days ago I've had problems with my phone so I detached the display to understand if the problem is in it. Well it wasn't but I had to work with the phone with no display.
Another solution
10n days ago I've had problems with my phone so I detached the display to understand if the problem is in it. Well it wasn't but I had to work with the phone with no display.
And here is how I did it.
1. Find with Google and install "MotionApps mDesktop" on your PC.
2. Connect your phone to the PC with ActiveSync.
2.1 When it ask how to connect your phone with ActiveSync, USB disk if you don't do anything your phone automatically connects with ActiveSync.
3. Start mDesktop and click connect in the upper right corner if it doesn't connect automatically.
4. Once connected on left side there are tabs- SMS,Contacts,Screen and others-whatever you want to see.
5. Click on the "Screen" tab and you will see your phone screen.
6. Click on that screen with your mouse to do what ever you want to do - you have complete control over your phone.
That's it.
I hope this info is useful.
actually i'm not so sure does it work what u said, bcuz i used MyMobiler with what i should also controll my device screen via pc, but it doesn't work.
I think that maybe it works if phone is fully set up, i mean that my screen isn't calibrated. Maybe that was the problem why i cant use remote desktop, maybe not. Dunno..
Just to be sure I just tried it- you have to be able to calibrate your phone from your phone. I guess that it will be no problem if the touch screen is ok even if the lcd is not.
Can you help me pls. So my screen in broken, both touck and lcd so i can't do the alignment. I have win7 on my pc so i've tried both ways but none of them it's working.
Hi, as the title implies I'm trying to recover critical password and account data (Yahoo and Windows live, either/or) from an HD7 before doing a factory wipe so I can re-insert these passwords/data since the user has long since forgotten these, yet as the HD7 sits it isn't connecting to the internet and he cannot get into his accounts (yahoo and windows live, both use each other as a backup, and both have the same password- I told him this was stupid..how is he supposed to recover the PW if he forgets it, as he has FFS). Unless I can find an option to change the password within the HD7, that is if it will connect again, the only other way he is going to recover these accounts is if I can unlock the phone and retrieve files directly from the SD card..I assume these files would be backed up in user folders somewhere possibly readable by notepad? Hopefully not encrypted.. if anyone can point me to where they are, I am researching how to retrieve the files from this particular phone (my first WP7 phone...I much prefer Android I have come to learn, and HTC too, S-on/S-off, I have a lot to learn). If not, is there a way to change one of the accounts' pwd's FROM the phone, provided I can get it tethered or the WiFi begins to act correctly? I can't make heads or tails of the UI and the menus/lack thereof? (it's like an android phone without the 'settings' soft key!)
If this has been tackled before, I apologize, but a search turned up mixed and irrelevant information.
Thanks!
