[Q] Wifi Tethering help please

I cannot get wifi tethering to work on my Droid 1 when running MIUI, stock froyo, or Cyanogen. I have tried Wireless Tether on all three ROMS, I can connect to the phone, but no Internet data is transferred. I'm currently using MIUI 12.3 and found that it has a built in wifi tether that also fails. Barnacle didn't work either.
From what I can figure out this may be either a kernel issue (I never changed it from stock, but MIUI may have its own?) or a problem with how I achieved root (superoneclick). I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks!

[Q] Anyone got wi-fi tether working on Simple Mobile?

I have my g1 on simple mobile. And for the life of me i cant figure out how to get wi-fi tether to work. Ive used a few different apps all with same result the network id never gets broadcasted, i cant connect.
Anyone have their g1's on simple mobile with wi-fi tether working?
It works fine on t-mobile, although they throttle back the data speed after 30mb on the prepaid $1.49 'day pass'.
i know simple mobile uses tmobiles networks, but is it exactly the same? what app do you use to tether?

Wireless tether method on Tmobile

I have a htc first that I unlocked so I can use on tmobile, currently on stock rooted rom. I have been able to reliably get wireless tether to work and would like to share what I find so that other people can see if it works. By using the wireless tether app I used to use with my epic 4g touch wireless tether works.
The settings i used were generic wlan0 Jb
mms claming checked
routing fix checked
wifi driver reload checked
The apk is attached.
I know it is an older device but it can be unlocked easily for free and can be purchased on ebay for around 100 in excellent condition. Gets Lte on att not on tmobile but great hspa+ speeds in my area, the only problem I had was wifi tether until i tried this method.
I see there have been quite a few views has this method worked for anyone else?
Resurrecting a zombie thread,
I can confirm the wifitether treve mod above works great, caveat the settings are followed as above post.

Does 5.1.1 break tether_dun_required for WiFi tether on tmobile

I finally upgraded from from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 and I edited the SQL database but now it tells me that a device is connected to the hotspot where as before it would always say zero regardless of how many devices were connected. I know I can wait and see, but I'm curious to know what others have experienced. And if it does undead break unlimited tether is there another work around or can I downgrade to 5.0.1.
I was at the airport today and couldnt get my laptop to connect to the airport WiFi. I was able to use the trick and tether over 15gigs without a problem...
Yes, I was on 5.1.1
Can't say anything for T-Mobile, but the trick still works on Sprint.
Works on t-mobile with 5.1.1
Worked for me this weekend, I watched a few gigs of Netflix at work (no wifi at work). No issues with 5.1.1

I just upgraded from 4.4.4 to 5.1.1. on the nexus 5. what is the trick to get tethering working?
while the trick works you need to apply it again
I did not notice 5.1.1 ticking hotspot usage on T-Mobile until after I had already blown through my 5GB plan.
APN Tweaks: Added "dun" type and set Protocol to IPv4
com.android.provider.settings/settings.db added "tether.dun.required=0" to the global table
build.prop added "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true"
LTE Tether Patch using Wifi Tether Router did not work either, but after talking to the developer he pointed me towards a chrome extension "Unlimited Hotspot Tethering" which, while super shady, did work even with the native hotspot (but, of course, was limited to connections made through Chrome).
I will try again and report back after my billing cycle resets, but I'm pretty sure the tweaks need to be applied before you hit your cap.

Just my 2 cents, but you ever thought of using a t mobile rom? This way you wouldn't have to use second party apps for tethering. T-Mobile Alliance Lollipop Rom on ATT Note 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/t-mobile-alliance-rom-att-note-3-t3065127 it has t mobile apps.
I can get native tethering working just used all my data trying to use my unlimited 4G now.wifi thether just gives me 10kbps speeds I don't really like lollipop why I'm on kitkat Idk if the room would make a difference or not.
