Hi,
The stock browser and dolphin hd doesn't connect over 3g what so ever after I updated to Froyo. Market, speedtest and opera mini all work just fine so it's a little weird.
Over wifi all is good as well. I've done restarts and checked settings but no luck.
Another issue I have is that I can't seem to get launcher pro or dolphin hd to be default.
Would be nice if anyone had some insight on this, I would prefer to not wipe.
Im having the same problem with the stock browser but skyfire is working just fine for me.
Re: Browser not working on 3g. Froyo stock
All good here guys, no problems at all

set up the APN manually
Re: Browser not working on 3g. Froyo stock
It is set up manually since I just updated and didn't wipe. The settings haven't changed, but I guess I could try that and/or run the update again.
Edit:
Fixed it by reset to default in APN settings. Wasn't totally correct for my carrier, but I changed one small thing and it worked.
Only wondering how defaults work in froyo now...
mine is not working
all apps that use internet are fine . except the browser

I've a sim free N1 in the UK with a three (carrier) SIM. Exactly the same problem with the browser over 3G, but no issues over wifi. Opera mini works fine though. Changing the APN to "reset to default" fixed everything!
Thanks
resartig to defults will remove the settings how will that help me
Sorry to be a pain in the backside as well... I have the same problem. i re-entered the APN settings manually. And still can not get the browser to connect over 3g.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just as a side not, upon reset to default, it completly wipes whatever setting there is. And I'm currently in Saudi Arabia, after buying the phone while in the US from Tmobile [it is unlocked.]
Thanks.

There are loads of built-in carrier settings in the OS, if it removes all settings your carrier does not have their settings in the OS.
When I reset to default it came up with settings for my carrier, but it was for the wrong country so I just tweaked it a little bit.
I don't know what actually fixed it though, but the reset to default did the trick for me.
What I can tell you though is what the APN is defined as:
APN type: default,supl,mms
So with the default settings one APN is used for everything (browsing, mms and AGPS).
3g issues
I have been having 3g issues too. When I checked into the APN settings I found that there were things entered into the password and server fields. My problems were always off and on, but they seem to be better after clearing those out. I have no idea how those fields may have had values entered in them.
althought it may seem like a really stupid solution, but it worked for me.
I just cleared the proxy and port settings while in the edit access point.
And it worked... shouldn't be that way. but it works now
I'm still having this problem. Updated to Froyo from stock and browser worked for a while. Now it's just stopped over 3G
Market and everything else works over 3G but the browser won't load up any pages.
I've checked the APN settings and they are correct for Orange UK Pay Monthly. I've also opened the browser settings and reset to default.
Any other ideas?
Fixed it.
Opened the APN settings and deleted the APN. Then clicked the list button to open the settings and chose "reset to defaults"

This worked for me too.
Right now I have just entered the "APN_name" in the APN settings, I have left Server, Proxy, Port blank.
Market, Mail Opera, Other apps used to work before, but Browser wouldn't. Now everything is working.
Someone should explain what is happening.
I have the same issue here. Even deleting the APN settings and reloading the defaults didn't fix. Everything works on Wi-Fi, but The stock browser and the Dolphin HD borwser don't work on 3G. Tweetdeck, Firefox, Tumblr, Facebook, Foursquare, all the others apps works on both. Does someone have an idea why?
I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM DOWNLOADING WITH MY OG DROID. Whats up with that? Did something change with the market or is it this a change with the market? Anyone else having this issue?
There is a setting under Settings > Battery and Data manager > Data saver that only allows the market to queue downloads and not download them until wifi is connected. Check that.

That was the ticket thanks for your help
I am not allowed to post in the developer thread so am posting here. I have Minimoto 1.7 installed on my D3. I love it, but am travelling in another country now and can't figure out how to control data roaming. The standard Battery/Data settings menu item is not there. Any suggestions/solutions?
Thanks

Thanks. Do you know if this will let you control data roaming? It looks like it just keeps it on all of the time.
I don't know, I've never had cause to use it, try asking in the app thread

The app only enables data roaming right now.
Tomorrow if I have some time I will upload a new version with a disable button.
UPDATE
I just uploaded a new version which allows for manually disabling data roaming.

This is very useful. Thanks. I was travelling in Italy and had no way to turn data roaming on and off because that control is missing form the menu.
Does it work out of the box for grandfathered unlimited plans? Hoping it might since this is supposedly vanilla android...

Tethering and hotspot options are both available on my phone with the standard 3GB data cap, so I would assume that its available on the unlimited plan as well.

Thanks. Do you have a family share plan or an individual plan? The family share plans apparently include tethering.

It is an individual plan which doesn't include tethering, but the feature is still available.
Didn't work for me I haven't unlocked on HTC dev yet but I don't imagine that will change anything.
Are you on LTE?

Hmm, I just now tried it, and I get the same message. Guess we'll need to wait for a third-party ROM like CM10 before this is an option...
Have any of you tried FoxFi? Its in the Play store, and it's free. There is also PDAnet as well.
Anybody that is rooted get WiFi tethering to work yet? Barnacle or WiFi tether for root users or something like that?

I'm also having the same problem with wifi hotspot (tethering). Unlocked my phone (originally locked with AT&T) and anytime I click to enable Portable wifi hotspot I get "There is a temporary problem that prevents the enablement of the Mobile Hotspot function. Please retry later."
I've also tried installing FoxFi to see if I could tether that way - no luck. I get the same error message as above.
Any one have any solutions?
Solved! Alright, so I rooted the phone using the HTC First All In One found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242639
Once the phone was rooted, I downloaded an app on Google Play called "WiFi Tether" (do not download FoxFi, it doesn't work). The "WiFi Tether" app works ONLY for rooted phones.
Now I can finally tether!

What settings did you use with Wifi Tether for root users? I'm having trouble getting it to work with my rooted HTC First.

I opened up Wifi Tether, went to "Settings", then changed my Device-Profile to "Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)". Hope it helps!

That's not working for me maybe because I only used moonshine?
I scoured the interwebs and found these solutions...
These ways will work for people who can't still can't get their hotspot working:
Stock roms seem to whitelist the apns that can use their tether, so either
1. Insert entitled {yourCarrierAPN} into /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db with sqlite editor:
Old Instructions:
1. Use a rooted filemanager (e.g. ES File Explorer) to backup the Telephony Database (/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db) to a safe place (e.g. /sdcard/).
2. Download SQLite Installer for Root from the Market and open the app and install SQLite3
3. Open an adb shell
4. Type the following command in to open the telephony database:
su -c sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
5. This should have opened sqlite3. If it did then type the following command in to update the database:
INSERT INTO carriers (name, numeric, mcc, mnc, apn, authtype, type, insert_by, state, protocol, roaming_protocol, carrier_enabled, bearer) VALUES ("Entitlement","302720","302","720","ltemobile.apn ","-1","entitle","internal","hidden","IP","IP","1","0" );
6. To confirm that this has been applied you can type the following:
select * from carriers;
This should list all the carriers you have in your telephony.db and the one you just added should be at the bottom.
7. Type the following to quit sqlite3
.exit
8. Type the following to reboot your phone
reboot

Summary:
a. Find /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db and it's 'carrier' table
b. Edit telephony.db with sqlite editor and add a row that is the same as the hidden AT&T Entitlement APNS, but change the numeric, mcc, mnc, apn type to match your current cellphone's APN in the database
c. Save, reboot, and viola! default tethering activated
or
2. Hack and disable apn check in framework-res.apk

I've done the build.prop edit needed to get the tethering to work, but when i turn on the hotspot i'm able to connect to it with several devices like Ipad, s4, and laptop but they don't have internet access. is there something else i have to do in order to get it working? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
You have to edit a database entry as well. Search the forums. Youll need sqlite editor from play store.

Yeah i just tried that as well bought the sqlite editor and still nothing...
any more suggestions?
Try adding one, reboot then other. I had issues getting it to wotk. Double check the entries are correct (no caps) and just try again. It does work.
I got it to work but had to factory reset and then it worked fine
