Exact process to root 4.4.2 and install a Lollipop ROM? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

This link here says the root method is TowelRoot, but I thought that was patched? If so, is there another method?
Since this is an AT&T phone and I'm using a Cricket SIM, how do I get to Lollipop? I'm assuming you need Lollipop firmware before you can flash a Lollipop ROM, right? I was thinking of flashing TMS 5 and the instructions tell us to follow Flashfire. I just want to make sure this is the up-to-date and correct process?
-Root via TowelRoot
-Get Flashfire and flash OF3 build (does it matter which one?)
-Follow safestrap method in the instructions of TMS5 (this method said to install recover in safestrap. Does it just do it by itself, or do we download a recovery to install?)
-Complete?

[Q] how to unlock after rockmymoto

So I used rockmymo to get root. Now I read the unlocking won't void warranty (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538366) so I went ahead and requested an unlock key.
What do I need to do now to have a fully rooted phone and get the kitkat update? Do I need to remove rockmymoto first?
My general idea is that I should:
1. Remove rockmymoto somehow or revert to stock??
2. Unlock per motorola instructions
3. install a custom bootloaders like clockwork mod
4. Install supersu from clockwork mod
5. Get kitkat OTA update
??
Give me some guidance, this stuff is kinda blurry for me.

You can unlock your boot loader with Rockmymoto installed but you can't install the ota, rockmymoto high jacks the stock recovery and the stock recovery is required to flash the ota. Now saying that , there is away to flash the ota without accepting it, you need to flash the fxz kitkat firmware for your carrier but only T-Mobile and Verizon versions are available now.
Flashing the fxz will basically put your phone to 100% stock and which point you can flash twrp recovery and superuser to gain root. Flashing twrp requires a unlocked boot loader.
I would wait and see if jcase comes up with a method if maintaining root for kitkat, patience and wait for the waters to clear before you jump head first, it will only be a matter if days b4 kikat arrives for all carriers.
What my plan is to wait for the Rogers kikat fxz file to be available as I unlocked my boot loader 3 months ago and I am running the stick deodex rom with twrp recovery. I would have to rsdlite back to stock in order to flash the ota, not willing to lose all my data again

[Q] Major help needed with lollipop root

Hi Everyone
I have updated my note 3 to the lollipop version found on this thread using Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609
I'm now totally lost as to how i would go about rooting so that i can either flash a custom rom, or remove bloatware etc. I have rooted several devices before, but all the different note 3 models is whats got me lost and frustrated. My goal is to have safestrap (or something similar) installed, along with a recovery of some sort (cwm etc)
Does anyone have some clear and concise instructions as to how to root this device and flash rom's afterwards
Thanks for any help i get guys, sorry to be a pain

Odin back to NC2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54803130&postcount=136 Then root it, install Busybox and Safstrap. If you want Rooted Lollipop still "OC1 Stock Rooted Very Easy Procedure" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2 Safestrap is your only recovery, no CWM or TWRP it's an AT&T phone so the Bootloader is locked.
Thanks for reply
Just to clarify, if i follow the rooting tutorial here after downgrading back to 4.4.2 NC2 : http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-note-3-root/how-to-root-attverizon-galaxy-note-3-on-android-4-4-2/
and then follow the tutorial here for safestrap: http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-n...-custom-rom-using-safestrap-on-galaxy-note-3/
and then get rooted lollipop here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2
is that ok? (i know i need busybox also)
thanks

Can I use Safestrap and Xposed on my (AT&T G900A) Galaxy S5?

I originally had KitKat 4.4.2 rooted using towelroot, but I got tired of the ugly TouchWiz UI and wanted to try Lollipop. I successfully used the FlashFire method and flashed a pre-rooted Lollipop OF3 Stock ROM (DeOdexed) and I am using the OA1 Bootloader (I believe it's KitKat) which I flashed with Odin.
I would like to use Safestrap to flash the .zip required to use Xposed on Lollipop. I read that to get safestrap somewhat functioning, you have to flash a stock kernal to get it to boot into safestrap, flash your .zip, then flash another kernal to ensure that the phone actually boots after using safestrap.
I can't find a straightforward answer as to what kernals I should be using to do this for my specific phone and if it is even possible. I will list my phone's details below.
Thank you!
-AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A
-Lollipop 5.0 (Pre-rooted OF3 Stock ROM)
-G900A OA1 Bootloader (KitKat bootloader?)

You can just use flashfire to install the xposed zip. Just make sure you're flashing the one for Samsung phones by arter97.
This is the one i use:
Xposed modules on G900A_OF2 - 5.0
is DeOdexed required for this - is it possible with non-DeOdexed?
Thank you

Root Stock ATT Note 3 after Stagefright/OC2

I've searched and researched. I'm not finding a matching thread/procedure for my situation. I've never rooted before so I wanted to make sure I was following the right procedure. Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm currently running stock recently updated AT&T 5.0 N900AUCUEOC2. I don't care if I remove stock apps and I'd prefer not to trip odin if possible. Backups of all my files have already been done manually and I'm ready for a reset/wipe.
Is it safe for me to follow the procedure for oc1 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/update-procedure-lollipop-5-0-oc1-t3063760?
What is the difference between wipe and non-wipe tars?
Will it force OTA update to OC2 after I do root procedure for OC1? Will OC2 be rooted afterwards?
Is someone working on a procedure for OC2?
I've had the same problem and haven't been able to root. Someone should try to work on this I'm sure we're not the only ones
Ditto, Att note 3 running oc2. I've tried odin and a few one click programs with no luck.
Have anyone found a way to root OC2?
There are many posts explaining how to root. Unfortunately, I don't think It can be done while on lollipop. None of the popular root tools work on lollipop (kingoroot/towelroot). You have to odin back to NC2 (Kitkat), Root, install safestrap and busybox, then you can install OC2 in safestrap via a pre-rooted OC2 ROM or backup.

Hitmizzle, you summarized very well :good: - I also spent days trying to find a root method on OC2 but to no avail. Eventually I ended up restoring to NC2, rooted, then installed a pre-rooted OC2 as you described. I think the admin should bookmark your post so as to save much time for other people.
OC2 OTA
I'm running OC1 rooted and got a notification for an update which I assume is OC2. If I take that OTA update will I lose root on my device?

Yes, assuming the update doesn't fail. If you want OC2, there's a rooted OC2 ROM update at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006

[Help] Advice on rooting PA2 firmware

I just managed to update to PA2 from OI5, and there is a root method available.
I have two questions:
Can I root my S5(AT&T) without tripping KNOX?
If I do root, can I update to the latest Marshmallow via Odin and keep root?
Can I "debrand" my S5 by flashing a stock S5 firmware via Odin (remove AT&T bloatware and bootlogo)? {http://www.naldotech.com/remove-carrier-branding-galaxy-s5-debranded-firmware/ this link says you can but does not provide a download link}
Thanks.

You can root on OI5 (which means you would have to downgrade). As of now we can't get root on MM in ANY WAY. But, the root for LP doesn't trip Knox.
Refer to my guide in the General section for rooting instructions.
You can't flash a ROM like that with ODIN due to the locked bootloader. You would have to flash using FlashFire.
