Help!!! Samsung galaxy note 3 rooted trying to use different service. - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have a Samsung galaxy note 3 and it rooted. After the root I wanted a different service so I have t-moble. I downloaded the region lock away and went through the steps. After my phone was rebooted it still ask me for a unlock code after installing the region lock away. The note 3 is a att phone. Need help

What rom is on the phone? I believe region lock away will only work with certain modems.

I don't have safe strap installed with different roms. It's the original rom and the phone is rooted

If the rom is too new, I don't think region lock away will work. For example, the s4 the modem must be 4.2.2 with root before region lock away will sim unlock the phone.

Oh ok. Well I'm 5.1 android version. Is there another way I can do this instead of paying for an unlock code?

The only way to unlock would be to get an unlock code. If you're not on ATT and the phone is not blacklisted, maybe contact AT&T.

[Q] Help Unlocking ATT (N900A) to Tmobile

Hi guys, I recently traded my Oppo find 5 for a AT&T note 3.
The Find 5 was unlocked and I was using Tmobile. Although the Note 3 is locked to ATT.
I tried using these threads to unlock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494634
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475552
the only difference is I used an app called Kingo to root. I also dont have the original ATT sim card that came with the phone, I used an old one I had laying around.
Other then that everything seemed to have gone smoothly. Except after I reboot the phone after the region unlock it says "invalid SIM" and asks for a sim unlock code.
Could you guys help me figure this out? I thought it would be a lot smoother and this is my only phone.
Thanks!
You must have the latest software update. If so your baseband version ends with "mj5".
The 2 threads about unlocking you posted worked on baseband version "mi9" only.
You have to buy an unlock code now.
Sorry!

Unlock/Root Samsung Note 3 (SM-N900A)

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I used to have AT&T as a carrier for the phone, now I do not have a carrier. I want to unlock my phone and preferably not pay for it I tried the method outlined at android and me and several other site, ( it involves using the number *#197328640#)
I was unable to use this method because I could not find a UMTS menu.
The only other way I found to unlock the phone was to root it. I wanted to use Odin and CF Auto Root to do but I could not find a version for my device, (Samsung-SM-N900A).
Do you guys have any suggestions for me?
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.

Im in the same place need to Root At&t galaxy note 3 5.0 N900a where can I find the files
You can only network unlock the phone with a code.
As far as I know, all of the note series is carrier unlocked. if it's not, you have to call your respective carrier and ask them to unlock it. Rooting your phone is another story. I just got off live chat with Samsung and they can't remove the bootloader lock on my OC2 N900a. This will prevent me from buying any other samsung product in the future, not even considering the note 7 b.s.
The n900a is an at&t phone and pretty much every at&t phone is carrier and bootloader locked. Same goes for sprint and Verizon.
Didn't realize oc2 also had the n900a as I thought the U.K. And Europe had the n9005.
Most of the note phones sold by a carrier are network locked.

Questions about Permanent Device Unlock

Does Permanent unlock mean permanent? Or is it something you can lose with a firmware update, factory reset, or user modification?
How does the device unlock? Is it unlocked by hardware like a knox trip? Is it from the carrier? Could it ever be re-locked?
Basically I bought my S6 from T-Mobile with the full intention of cancelling the service once I fully payed it off. $860 later, I made my final payment a week ago. I put in an ATT sim card, tried unlocking, nothing happened. Put my T-mo sim back in, did unlocking just to try it again, and it says my device is permanently unlocked.
I just want to know how permanent is permanent, and is it safe to cancel my service with T-Mo, and could the phone ever be re-locked by means of factory reset or by any change in the software?
Also my T-mo account balance is -$60, I don't fully know what that means, but it appears that they owe me $60. If I cancel, is a negative amount refunded?
It's supposed to be permanent. But T-Mo's custom device unlock is bugged. I permanently unlocked mine a few days ago and switched back to AT&T. Last night I started getting an invalid sim inserted message with my AT&T sim in it! So much for permanent unlock!!!
All I could think of doing to make sure it's permanent this time around is to Odin back to the stock MetroPCS rom so I could use their radio and unlock it the old fashioned way. Works fine with AT&T now. I just have to stick with the MetroPCS radio, or it will become locked again!

I've been away from android for a short time and now back on T-Mobile S6. I bought it outright from T-Mobile and haven't even had it three days yet but service is terrible. Is there a guide for exactly how to use the PCS firmware and then get root and twrp? How and where did you get the unlock code also? You said I need to stay on PCS? What if I flashed a T-Mobile custom rom off xda development site? Thanks, I'm just a little rusty and don't want to mess up my new phone. LOL.

There is a guide somewhere. I read it a couple of weeks back, so I knew what to do to Odin flash the Metro rom and use the regular sim unlock method. You can flash any compatible rom with your device. You just can't flash the T-Mobile radio, or you'll loose the SIM Unlock! The radio firmware is never part of a custom rom, so no need to worry there.
I bought the unlock code from androidsimunlock.com and told them it was a MetroPCS Galaxy S6. Worked perfectly.
Thanks. I'll do some more searching.
So the unlock is in software only?

Carrier unlock a G920T permanently

Hi guys,
I need some clarification re: carrier unlocking and how it works. I recently purchased a carrier unlocked G920T, and I was going to start messing with custom roms/kernels and other goodies. My question is: Will the phone revert back to being locked if I do a factory reset or if I unlock the bootloader and flash custom roms?
I'm not a T-Mobile user, so I can't get another unlock code from them.
Thanks!!
The G920T has a carrier unlocked version, which is probably the one you have, not the T-Mobile one. Even if it is, usually a carrier unlocked device will remain unlocked forever unless it was unlocked using a different or hacky method, then there is a possibility that it will relock
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
Yeahh go ahead, mess with it. when it is carrier unlocked, the software doesn't affect it, unless it is a hacky method like @serio22 said, but there isnt such hacky method for the GS6 so have fun.
If it is a G920T (the T means it's from T-Mobile), then carrier unlocking is not a guaranteed state. I paid T-Mobile the full price to get my GS6 and they "permanently" unlocked it. Then after a OTA software patch all of a sudden it locked itself again and I couldn't use my phone for 2 days while they tried to unlock it. T-Mobile's new device unlocking uses a new system which has the phone "phone home" to their servers to check if you're allowed to use it outside of their network. It happened again when I accepted the Android 5.1.1 OTA. So...beware of T-Mobile's not-very-permanent permanent carrier unlocking.
I am living in india..
My relatives brought me the t model ( i wanted f model instead of i sold in india for quicker updates but got t model...lol )
Anyways,
The moment i inserted my sim, it worked like a charm so its unlocked at the moment.
I dont know how they made payment their or how it was unlocked, but the way used must be legit coz its still stock at the moment without root / recovery etc. .
I read humo saying it can get locked again...
My main question, what are the odds of that happening?
Also since i live in india, i wont be able to contact t mobile via phone/walk in, are there ways i can get it unlocked again?
I dont have the bill too if it matters
i believe they have an app that unlock ur device since that is how i unlocked mine. if not u can try to contact customer service online since u r not in US.
With device unlock app , will i have to pay for unlock my s6 g920t or it'll unlock my device for free.
I have an unlocked s6 tmobile from usa, i heard the flashing stock rom will relock the device.
If the phone will relock then how can i unlock it again?
I'm not sure about flashing a stock ROM relocking the device. Mine re-locked when T-Mobile sent Android security patches. This week I did the Android 6.0 OTA update and it has remained unlocked.
Hey guys! i have a factory unlocked version of s6 tmobile, my question is if i can flash the tmobile MM firmware . My model says "country: cellular south" and the firmware country says us tmobile, so i dont know if i can flash without any problems, (Sorry for my english it sucks) thanks !

You can't downgrade your bootloader so you'd have to pay to unlock it unfortunately

Got it done remotely!
I have a Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T) from T-Mobile. It was locked. But it has an "Unlock" app installed by default. I used it and phone was instantly unlocked! Fast, easy and free!
I used to live in the US for a year and bought a g920T. Since i had the requirements i Unlocked and came back to my country but because of a problem, I had to install a stock firmware and now the unlock is gone.
So i'm wondering, if someone with a unlocked phone made firmware backup, remove the IMEI, and send it online would it work? I mean, right now it works just fine, so i can backup my IMEI and ID and just restore it if needed.
Please help

Help unlocking G920T to Metro PCS.

Hi guys, I have been reading for days but can't seem to find a concise guide. I am trying to use a Metro PCS SIM card in a locked TMobile S6.
I have installed twrp and root through Odin, but I can't manage to download the G920T1 firmware anywhere without it failing and forcing me to pay. I have tried sammobile and others.
After I flash the G920t1 firmware will his metro SIM card just work or do I then have to do a SIM unlock as well? Do I use a TMobile or MetroPCS unlock code if I need to SIM unlock?
Also does anyone know of a ROM that will allow me to use his Metro SIM without any of the above nonsense? I downloaded a ROM but I only have my Verizon SIM to test and it asked for an unlock code.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: After checking Android file host I found a link to the latest G920t1 firmware. Downloading now in hopes this gets me one step closer. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424951428
Well I got the Metro PCS software running fine and when following this guide on unlockbase it says I just need this TMobile/MetroPCS unlock code and to put in the new SIM card and it should work.
https://blog.unlockbase.com/unlock-samsung-galaxy-s6-tmobile-usa/
https://www.unlockbase.com/service.php?id=775
Will report back later this week after purchasing the unlock code and attempting to input it.
One other note is when booting to stock recovery it warms me of multi csc. Its my understanding that this interferes with OTA updates. Is there anyway to fix the multi csc so my friend can take the metro pcs OTA updates or will I have to manually update them for him each time a new one comes out?

Your best bet is leaving it on tmobile rom.. if it's unlocked it's unlocked the sim will work just fine... just because you're using a different sim doesn't mean you gotta change roms
Leave it on what the device actually is, and let the unlock code make anything work for you
The S6 development is pretty dead and you will only really find updates for ours first, and if it's an original Tmobile device.. keep it on that, it's unlocked to work with anything but you don't have to flash anything specific to it G920T Use tmobile stock rom, unlock it and move on and do your business.. install twrp, get root , maybe a custom kernel and or rom?
If you root and leave stock recovery you're gonna have deep sleep issues, there hasn't been any MAJOR updates in awhile and it's only gonna go slower and slower with our device getting replaced by S7's and Note 7's
Roms will be updated to newer firmware bases, and JUST the bootloader and modem files will be online to quick flash within 2 minutes in odin to be updated then flash a updated rom base to the newer firmware if any future releases come.
Don't know too much about CSC sorry about that, but hopefully I at least get you on the right track?
The phone is locked. TMobile has the SIM unlock from the dialer disabled on the s6 firmware. You have to go through them to get it unlocked which my friend is currently unable to do, due to issues with payment on his account. I checked his imei and it says it's all good so I assume a traditional SIM unlock using the Metro pcs software should work.
I wasn't going to root or install twrp as this friend has no need for either and is fine staying on the stock software.
