No FP support in this rom. You can see my video review for all your questions.
Good work on the review video. Any chance some developers start working on Chinese Roms such as Color OS, Hydrogen OS etc? Chinese developers have ported these Roms for our device but they have a lot of bugs.
Sorry but i am not a rom porter however i am a source developer. However for chinese developers i cant say,,
Please try Flyme OS 5.1.9.23R beta and let us know how it works
the flymeos 5.1.10 rom is already on the flyme.cn:
http://www.flyme.cn/firmwarelist-61.html
i test it for 2 days, the battery is not as good as zui,and no fp.

thnx for the share; but i'd rather wait a bit more for @gkalen << .eu miuis are ok, but his mods are serious stuff
I recently received a Xiaomi Mi 5 device and am unhappy with the stock MIUI (7.2.8.0 Global Stable) functionality.
My previous phone was a Moto E (1st Gen) and several years ago, I had flashed a custom ROM by @TheStrix [from this thread].
What an amazing ROM that was. It provided an optimized version of the stock ROM that fully supported the hardware and provided a great base on which to add required Apps. I used it happily for years and my son still uses it.
I am looking for a Custom ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 5 that meets the following criteria:
1. Must be stable and supported
2. Must support all device hardware fully without losing functionality (example: IR blaster, NFC, fingerprint, 4-Axis OIS, VoLTE, ...)
3. Provide as close an experience to the standard Android OS it is based on as possible (example retain the great integration of the "OK Google" functionality)
4. As few Apps pre-installed as possible without compromising (2) and (3) above. But must include Google Play Store for a smooth way to install whatever apps (Google or otherwise) are needed later.
4. Clear instructions to install the ROM starting with a stock Mi5 device, using a Linux laptop. I am in to the "open source" movement and don't own a Windows device.
I have already spent a lot of time transferring 15 GB of my data to the device, so a way to update the new ROM without losing the data is desirable, but not a must-have.
Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions. Apologies if this thread turns out to be a duplicate.
Further information from a response I received on the MIUI forum.
My ROM version says MIUI Global 7.2.8.0.0 (MAACNDB) Stable. However official ROMs don't have "CN" in the version for Global Stable ROMs. So looks like my device came with an Unofficial ROM.
Xiaomi may only provide a windows-based unlocking tool. I do not know whether it may work correctly with Wine. Qcom 9008 mode may not work but you can still flash via fastboot, and unlocking bootloader is required.
MIUI is stable and all function should work normally but it is not a AOSP-like one. Lineageos 14.1 is stable but not all functions work - QC 3.0 seldom works, touch button does not work well enough on LGD panel. I do not know how to test OIS, but it is said to work.

In your situation, the fake rom situation, you have to first unlock the bootloader and then flash a real/official miUI rom and from there ... go where you want.
remember: DO A BACKUP if you need your personal data; because this operation, done right, will erase everything from the phone.
A good place to look for informations will be here on xda and the official miUI forum

The best custom rom for mi5, in my opinion, are the RR and the AOSCP. Fast, light (in space used and ram engaged) and maintained with love and dediction.
But they have some flaws; flaws widely discussed in their respective threads (here on xda).
My suggestion: if it's the first time for you with the miUI ... Give it a try!
Because it's in fact a custom rom, with many minor (and major) things already at your disposal.

Search
LineageOS is your ROM then.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-1-xiaomi-mi-5-t3501971
We'll get the official gemini release tonight.
The place for the mi5 roms in xda is in the front page of the mi5 subforum; there is a section just for them full of info and goodies and pixies and unicorns and etc etc. :
mi5 subforum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5
RR stands for Resurrection Remix and AOSCP is also know as CypherOS
But just a couple of hours ago LineageOS has started with the nightly: https://download.lineageos.org/gemini
And yes: do a search before asking a redundant question because all the informations are already here at your disposal.
Hello,
what is needed/whate are we waiting for until the Redmi 4X custom ROMs come out? I found some LineageOS and one other unofficial ROMs but I don't trust stuff outta xda so I'm too afraid try them.
Thanks

The unofficial lineage versions contain two chinese apps with access to usage statistics. They disappear after disabling the access. It's nevertheless a little bit dangerous. I use this redmi 4x as a PirateBox host, so it's not a problem for me. The Lineage build is working good, finger print sensor is working, camera is functional.
Hello,
is it possible to flash the baseband from Xiaomi Redmi 4X with band 20 (global variant?) to other Xiaomi Redmi 4X with 3MB 32GB as root with any tool to get band 20 ?
Is there any flashing tool of basebands for Xiaomi devices at all ?
hello
hello i tried to flash this on my redmi 4x santoni but i get error7 ?

Hi everyone,
are there any news on this?
I got my 4X yesterday and I've been looking for a good custom ROM but can't seem to find any except for that one with the chinese bloatware.
kinda hard to find good rom. so much stuff on the internet now days
Finally found something on a Russian site. It's all in Russian which is why you can't find it on Google...
They have inofficial builds of LineageOS (and some other ROMs as well) for the Redmi 4X.
I'm using it right now and there are no issues. Everything works smoothly, no signs of bloatware. Can recommend to try it. :good:

It's great. Used it a lot yesterday (2,5h screen-on time) and still had 50% left in the evening.
I can't comment on how it compares to MIUI though, haven't used it enough for that.

I have tried the LOS13 v1 and indeed the most things working smooth.
Only annoying is the the lack of a fix for the (further good working) gps. I am not sure if this has influence on draining the battery.
On the same site you can find also Mokee, Flyme and some derivates of Miui
I for now run the rom of Mi-Globe rom, based on the latest Xiaomi.eu version with some extra features and debloated Mi stuff
I am very satisfied with this Nougat rom. With a custom launcher I can live with the Miui base
4pda talks are banned here.
Also this is a known issue with those device and many that run on cm. The GPS, BT, and wifi have been buggy for years and they never bother to fix it.
do you have Root app for Redmi 4x?
Anybody have Root app for Xiaomi Redmi 4x, please share with me, thanks

Thanks for pointing to this. Edit my post
I think that Miui (and debloated derivates) is the best choice for now, that has the least issues

The official Global beta 7.6.22 has two versions, MM 6.0 and N 7.1.
Xiaomi eu has adapted the 7.1 version for the Europese customers
Latest weekly release is v7.6.29 .
With Mi-globe you can strip and add (like root) some things on this EU rom
Everyting works as expected, but personal I don't prefer Miui

You need to have unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP, then go to Magisk thread here on XDA (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 and download the zip here and flash it from TWRP. Now you have MagiskRoot and also ability to install systemless packages (read the description, it's the single most cool thing we ever got for Android apart from Xposed).
Do not install SuperSU, as it would probably break the MTP - although for some people apparently modifying build.prop worked, for me it didn't.
Dear developers,
first of all I would like to thank you all for your great work and keeping our Sony Xperia ZR alive.
A few weeks ago I came across the terrific project maru os. So far it only exist for a few devices but it looks very promising. It literally turns the phone into a desktop PC while having android and Linux running on it.
I am not a programmer myself and sadly are not able to offer any help but it would be great if somebody with the skills and experience would feel encouraged to port maru os to the ZR. As far as I know the ZR is capable of mhl and therefore would be a great candidate for maru os.
At the moment somebody is working on the sony Xperia z3. Maybe it could be helpful for the development.
As I am a new member I actually can't post links to the project page, github repository or some great YouTube videos. But I suppose a search engine of your choice will help you
Looking forward for some thoughts and ideas
What does the community think? Would Maru OS be something you would be personally interested?
I wrote a PM to Daedroza and he seemed generally interested in the project but made at the same time clear that he is at the moment occupied with lineage 14.1. He might be able to port maru os in a few months.
Happy to see some thoughts of other ZR users.

Dear folks,
one very talented dev of Maru os is asking at the moment the community to which device he shall port next (he ported already to the G4 and HTC 10). There might be a chance that if enough ZR users upvote our device we might see it come alive.
Please show your interest in this thread:

Thanks and have a nice day
I see it is supported in official LOS builds too , and this is great .
My question is if you flash Lineage OS 14.1 ( https://download.lineageos.org/dogo ) into your Xperia ZR , does MHL cable works to display over HDMI ?
In another words , have you tested that using Lineage OS , you have image over HDMI ?

As far as I am concerned mhl is only working in the stock ROM. Another ZR user reported the non working mhl as well in the lineage 14.1 thread.
Only for your information, as this thread looks very lonely I just got in the last hour some more replies from people who are ready to test
Havoc OS 3.4 [Android 10] On Realme X2 - Installation Guide, 1st Impressions & Review
About Two Months ago, it looked like the development of custom Roms For Realme X2 was never going to kick off. Today there are about four stable-enough-for daily-driver custom Roms Available. Thanks to all of these hardworking developers, Realme X2 now has official TWRP recovery support for all the variants. A week ago I took an in-depth look into Lineage OS 16 (Android 9) On Realme X2 Today I am going to take a look at Havoc OS
Is it Better than Realme UI on Realme X2?
You Can see the first impressions and how to install it below but Here I will delve into more details.
INSTALLATION
First, you need to have an unlocked bootloader. If you are already on Realme UI with locked bootloader, please do your phone a favour, do not try to unlock the bootloader now until Realme provides an official way to do That!
You can see how to flash TWRP recovery HERE
You have to be on Color OS 6.1 to flash it because it uses Color OS vendor. For the Best Results, the variants should be on the FOLLOWING COLOR OS 6.1 UPDATES OR FLASH IT BEFORE FLASHING HAVOC OS:
RMX1991 - A.17
RMX1992 - A.18
RMX1993 - A.18 (A.19 WORKED FINE FOR ME)
Boot into Latest TWRP Recovery WIPE:
Both Caches
System
Data
NB: DO NOT WIPE VENDOR PARTITION, THE ROM DOESN'T HAVE A CUSTOM VENDOR YET!
THE general performance for this Rom is quite impressive with the first build (Alpha) and you have to check it out to experience its smoothness and speed nevertheless, there is a challenge in registering the fingerprint. I was first discouraged but when I eventually registered the fingerprint, I was quite impressed with how the system reads fingerprint.
To register the fingerprint easily (as I later learned) wipe your fingerprint regularly during the fingerprint Registration,
tap gently on the screen and hold for half a second to 1 sec - and wait for the haptic feedback (vibration)
UI And OPTIMISATION
When it comes to customization, Havoc gets A++ for me. It even has a game mode which will be a delight for gamers.
The Status Bar

The Settings

The Android Version

The Performance is Smoother than Smooth AF... No Lags, No dulling, No Hanging
When It comes to battery charging speeds, I was shocked because it did charge faster than VOOC charge in Color OS 6.1
I did a video for that because you need to see it to believe it. Having used Havoc for 2+ days as a RMX1993, I am not worried about Realme UI on the EU version.
You have to turn off 'ok google' hotword as it seems to be using the mic continuously and blocks access to might to other apps
Another challenge is Device Not certified on Google which is actually a problem coming from bootloader unlock. You can permanently fix it using this guide HERE!
So, are you going to give it a try?
Do encourage the Devs or just buy them a bottle of beer...:good:
They are doing a great job for the Realme X2 community

Seriously? Yes, I am a reviewer who just reviewed a ROM for Realme X2 and decided to share my

Did you not read the credits section? The ROM Maintainers are all xda Members so you can pm them and ask why they have not
opened a thread for It I was surprised myself else I didn't put it myself. XDA now removes Telegram groups links so
If you want the download link, just ask nicely.
