[Q] Which custom-rom has a 100%-working camera?

I know, there are always problems with the cam in 4.4.2 - unfortunely.
But meanwhile I need a full working cam, so which custom-roms are highly recommend?

PS: I'm well aware that I have to install a version lower than 4.4.2

I have 6 different cameras that work great on rooted 4.4.2 but it is still locked AT&T I-537 so not a complete custom ROM
Including: Stock Android camera, S4 GPe camera, Cymera, Focal and Google Camera. All are free. What doesn't work on yours?

Often the pictures are very overexposed. I can see it in the cam-modus. If I restart the camapp, it is normal exposed.

Would be glad to hear answer to this. Or is it just that every custom ROM (4.4.2) has this problem?
I'm really waiting forward to have KitKat in my S4 Active (nordic countries), as now I can't use for example Polar's sport applications with my official 4.2.*

You can't expect too much from this camera. It will do decent pics, but not more. Which is just fine by my standards.
Stock 4.2.2 camera works best overall, both with photos and videos. For other ROMs (4.3 and 4.4), photos are ok, but the video side has always been poor, regardless of the app or ROM used. Especially the sound volume, which is way too low, really frustrating.
Maybe things will improve with official 4.4.2 and hopefully ROM developers will manage to catch up with Touchwiz when it comes to the camera.
It shouldn't be long now.

I'm now testing unofficial CM11 for SGS4A. I agree - doing decent pics would be just fine, IF camera wouldn't freeze after changing the settings Well, waiting...

I use @spegelius's CM11 build from 03.05 and it's all I need. The only freeze/crash events occur when trying to shoot the first pic after switching to and from HDR. After that it works smooth, although HDR is not really important to me. The other thing is the first film you try to record when switching from 1080p to 720p, which comes out unviewable. I couldn't find any other flaw with the rest of the functions.
The 03.05 is the build you need, if you don't use it already.

KK 4.4.3 UPDATE & sense 6, camera gone awful.

Have you noticed since the sense 6 update our camera is a bit unstable with HDR video? Sometimes when touching to focus overexposes the scene, or downexposes it?
Even with HDR shots it seems like the software pushes the whites up, hdr looks washed out. And poor detail after each shot. I hope it's not just me.

I had the same exact problem. The solution? I had to unroot, return to complete stock, and return my device to AT&T. It may be a problem if you're using a rom, and it might be just that rom, but mine wouldnt go away no matter what.

I bet its software related..
Before sense 6 everything was fine.
But after those "improvements" the camera api was s*** I wanna go back to 5.5 any rom you can suggest? Good battery life and rock stable? Greets

I suggest Android Revolution HD, Maximus, or insertcoin. ViperOne offers great customization, but battery life really sucks on it.

[Q] Sony V - upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4 or wait ?

hi , i have android 4.3 on my Sony V and the only problem is the drain battery fast and i think it`s a problem that never solved by rom
anyway , i see on many site that different versions of 4.4 kitkat comes for Sony V and it`s a good news that i can have last the android version on my phone
but if you upgrade to this do you see any specific option or optimization on this rom ? i mean is there any real benefits to take a time and risk for upgrade ?
something like optimize core or less space or more free ram ??

Well...any custom kk rom will perform like 5 times faster than any stock version of rom for our device, but the battery life and camera quality will be worse. You won't have multitasking problems and apps closing in background like on stock roms but you might get reboots or some other problems with most of the roms. I decided to go back to stock 4.1.2 because the battery on our phone sucks so I'd rather get an hour of screen on time more than better performance. So it's up to you to try out and decide what you prefer.

cause now with a clash of clans and some app like line , whatsup , viber my phone is really slow
but still there is one Question : which Kitkat for Sony V have better performance and less bugs ? anyone test them ?

Most of them are pretty much the same, some just offer more features than others basically. Unofficial LiquidSmooth Rom worked best for me and was most stable but most people prefer Carbon or NeoWave. You just have to read through the topics to see what other people are saying or try them out yourself. I just wish I had done a backup before unlocking bootloader and flashing the first custom rom because now I don't have those DRM keys and my camera quality sucks even though I'm on stock 4.1.2 now. I know that Xperia Z's camera gets f***d up after unlocking bootloader but it seems it affected my Xperia V too. :S

It might be just my imagination xD Maybe the camera is normal but seems bad to me at the moment, I haven't really tried it outdoors yet. I attached some pics here and you tell me if it's normal (like on your phone) or bad.
Btw...does your camera keep focusing even when you're not holding the capture button? Because mine does and I don't remember if it did before

anyway now you mentioned i remember that one time i take a photo with my Huawei G650 dad phone and the quality of this pics is very better than my Sony V 12 Mega Pixel
after that i leave my phone camera and use small Digital camera at all .
i have always different phone of Sony , and the quality of Camera never satisfied me , they just give them more Mega pixel or resolution but the quality of picture never be like a real camera
only thing i love is FUll HD video recording that have a nice quality

And what about that auto focusing all the time? Does it happen on your device too (when you're not holding the shutter button)?

well i have a bad feeling about auto focusing too , yes it happened sometimes and also focus on wrong object or area , at end i decide to use camera of phone only when i don't have my digital camera with myself and i don't use it for a long time

Is there a bug-free camera app/mod which gives good results?

Hello guys,
I´m in search of a bug-free camera app, which gives good results.
Personally I think it´s shame what kind of softwar sony has released to the whole z series, taking into consideration the "soft-skin" bug is still present, no matter which Android Version or App we choose.
So that´s the reason I been searching for a camera app/mod, which allows me to take pictures that are matching the capabilities of this phone as described.
So far I tried these mods:
Cyberian Camera 6.0 - Fisheye Bug, makes it unusable for me
ZR-Cam: Not working with Z3 Lollipop 5.1.1.
Z5 Mod and Libs
None of them been bugfree or gave good quality results.
So I ask the community kindly:
Is there one app for Lollipop preferably, which gives good results and is bugfree?

Have you tried stock KK camera? I was on 4.4 just because of the amazing camer shots it could offer! BUT i flashed 6.0.1 and installed Cyberian(the one you tried too) and I'm still on it ( i haven't faced the Fisheye bug).
You should backup your phone and give stock 4.4 camera app a try!

Well, the fisheye bug only appears on Lollipop IV cyberian. You think there´s a KK ported camera App for Lollipop? I don´t think so tbh

I wish there was such a port.... My bad. What I actually meant was install 4.4 ftf... Best stock camera you'll get...( 10 times better than LP stock and MM stock,specially on video recording! )

Why is the camera just HORRENDOUS??!!

Man, honestly I love this phone but boy is the camera a true POS. Really it is, if there is not perfect sunlight there's a ton of noise, and if there's a tiny bit of movement, there's a ton a blur. I honestly feel like I'm using my Nexus 5 all over again. Need to find a remedy. Pictures by no means need to be perfect but come on. And yes I've tried other camera app with manual settings, still crappy

Really? Upload some images. Try using Open Camera or Manual Camera.

Same here mate , got same problem. On 6 marshmallow firmware the camera is like a toy camera . I rooted customer recovery ,flash custom ROM ,all my issue disappeared, once you flash the 7.1.1 fix the issue , the 7.1.1. include radio.img boot.img and firmware .IMG . This firmware .IMG contains drivers for screen , camera and sound and much more . My touch latency has been improved so much . Before I can't use Google keyboard to tipe or o have to disable the psuh button preview . Crazy , just flash 7

Same here. Coming from iOS family my expectations were low but this is below that. One thing helped a bit and it was disable auto HDR. Give a try.

I've been on 7 and still the same. just a lot of noise in lower lighting, outside in sub gives good shots, but you really have to try for a good shot. iPhone 7plus point and shoot literally anywhere, miss the camera on 7plus

Yes the camera is not the best part of this devise but I found it good enough on HQ mode....

Yea, I also liked iPhone 7 Plus camera better than my S7 Edge. iPhone was making much sharper photos.

I've always found panorama stitching to be horrible on Androids. Something about the way iPhones handle them is sooooo much better.
