Can anyone suggest a cheap screen protector maybe you have bought from eBay? If it is possible share a link to where I can purchase it. Please share only products you have tried. I don't want to buy something I don't know well and haven't seen a review of it! Thanks...
I got these tempered glass ones. Two in the package for $6.95. Put one on the phone back in early June still going strong. Hi proper cutout for the proximity sensor and ffc.

Two tempered glass protectors with proximity cutouts, $4. Feels just like a normal screen.
Installation was easy, carefully clean the screen of all dust and residue then align the tempered glass carefully. Bubbles will dissapear as you press on them, and it's no rush, I had bubbles a few hours after that dissapeared when I applied pressure.
Definitely inspires confidence that it will protect the screen from impacts?
This screen protector from Amazon works great! I personally have this one and it was a perfect fit and saved my phone from a face down drop on cement.
Nexus 5X Screen Protector, PLESON LG (Google) Nexus 5X Tempered Glass Screen Protector [2015], 99% Clarity, 0.2mm, 9H Hardness, Bubble Free, Glass Screen Protector for Nexus 5X https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016CUS84Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xbsaybJFK359X
I had a tempered glass from Nillkin at first. Someday I droped it and the tampered glass did its job fine protecting the screen but broke. Then I thought that tempered glasses may break easier than the screen and thus every few drops I loose 10usd for nonreason (the screen never broke without protector, but the protector broke quite easily). So I ordered some tempered glasses from Aliexpress priced just under a dollar. The first one was probably defective and started to get off on one corner. But after that I got it off and applied another. Its perfect now, it feels just like naked screen (same as Nillkin). It broke on face down drop but maybe the exensive one would brake too.
Probably the expensive ones are tougher but they cost 10 times up or more. Does it really worth it?

If you drop your phone that much, quantity is probably more worth it for you than quality
Its not that, but i think that cheap ones do the job so why to pay for an branded one?
Had a Pleson that lasted for the whole 11 months or so I had my first 5X but got this instead when I got my replacement:
[2-PACK]-Mr Shield For LG (Google) Nexus 5X 2015 Newest [Tempered Glass] Screen Protector with Lifetime Replacement Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D9EMSGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_MuseybGAD64PK
It's cheap, comes with 2, and installation was easy and bubble free.

simple question that I'm asking myself since I got my n7: should I buy a screen protector or not? I would hate to get scratches on this awesome screen... but maybe the glass is tough enough by itself, like the motorola defy's?
what are your thoughts/experiences?

i got me a invisishield screen protector just because i like to keep my screens looking good and it helps to sell it when all you have to do is take off the protector and the screen looks brand new.
I'm usually pretty anal about screen protectors, but I bought a smart case that covers the screen instead. Unless you use a case also, I'd get one. I'd much rather spend a few bucks on a protector than years regretting it.
A scratch is possible, things happen, so if you're worried then I'd say put one on. I intend to, and have lasted this long, but you just never know. Apart from a dead pixel, a scratched screen is pretty bad. Better safe than sorry, as they say.

it is not so much about the money actually... more about possibly negative effects on screen quality and touch screen experience...
regarding cases... I want to get one anyway... don't want to shove my brand new n7 in my backpack without protection
I don't think a case renders a screen protector obsolete though... there is still the possibility of scratches due to dust particles and stuff while using or cleaning the touch screen....
I always use those anti-glare or anti-finger print screen protector. It defuses the glare and it protect the screen. HOWEVER, you cannot expect 100% clarity on these but I am ok since I use my tablet mainly to read

This ^ times ten with a cherry on top!
That said many cases now come with free screen protectors as added 'value'. I've actually bought 3 matt protectors (in a set) and got 6 free gloss ones with the cases I've bought.
I know that the phone is fairly new, but does anyone know of available tempered glass screen protectors for the Droid Turbo other than the Verizon brand? Is there an ETA for anything so far? I usually just order through Amazon, but haven't seen anything that was noteworthy yet.

There are some difficulties in making a glass screen protector for the turbo's screen because of the curved glass edges. The issue is that the screen protector naturally wants to pull away to a flat like state. Because of this, you see very few companies offer tempered glass protectors for devices with the curved glass edges, and most people report a poor experience with them, as the edges release from the glass, thus making it easy for the screen protector to get pulled off.
A few solutions that have been tried are the company making the protector a bit smaller than the screen, to avoid the curved edge, but then you don't get full coverage, and have a sharp / noticeable edge from the screen protector. The other solution is to make it thinner / more pliable, but that raises its own issues (cost, loss of protective qualities).
I know Zagg is working hard on developing a tempered glass screen protector that will work with the curved glass screens, thanks to the iPhone 6 plus having this type of screen, but it could be awhile before they release it, let alone it trickles down to other devices. Once they figure it out, though, it should spread to other protectors (given most off brand protectors are made by one of the Chinese manufacturers of Zagg, just rebranding them, and likely lowering quality control a bit).
Okay, so I found 2 new entries on Amazon for the glass protectors. One is the Casebase brand and the other is the Orzly brand. The Casebase comes with 2 protectors and seems to have a better fit for the front-facing camera. I would post the links, but I'm a newbie so I can't yet. Lmk what you guys think about them.
Verizon has the tempered glass in their stores, I bought mine when I received the phone 2-3 days into the launch!

Looks like these are the thicker 9h ones with rounded edges too and the prices are rather cheap. I going to give it a few weeks until the crappy verizon tempered glass starts lifting then give one of these a shot. Thanks for posting!

I used a 85% off today. I can't remember what exactly it was but I just did a google search for coupon code.
I'm going to go ahead and try out the Xtremeguard Spartan tempered glass screen protector. I wish there was a 90% off coupon, but I settled with the 80% since I've been waiting on a decent glass protector for awhile now. I'll let you guys know how it is once I put it on, but I don't know if my opinion would be all that valid since this will be my first glass protector.
The Zagg glass for the iPhone 6, 6 plus, and Note 4 with curved screens are already available and work perfectly. I would say the fact that it isn't currently available for the Turbo has more to do with it being a Verizon exclusive than anything else.

I just looked up the one for the six and six plus. What are they doing that's different from anyone else? Its just smaller then they call it case friendly lol I expected some new technology on the curve I guess. The only solution I've ever seen for tempered glass on a curved screen as they just make it smaller so it doesn't reach the curve.

It isn't really noticeable while just looking at the product, but the Zagg's now have a curvature equal to that of the curve of the screen. The first wave of Zagg Glass panels for the 6, 6+, and Note 4 were all defective. They peeled up at the edges and would never lay down completely flat (I work for Best Buy I install 30-50 of them a week.) The second round of shipments had ironed out whatever kinks were causing the imperfect fit.

I'm confused as to why you would want a screen protector on a Gorilla Glass screen with a free replacement warranty? Is there something I'm missing, or is there something else special about these tempered glass screen protectors?
As for me, I've never broken or even scratched a screen in the last 10 years. Guess I'm lucky.

I used to be one of those people too. I had never cracked a screen in my life because I always take care of my phone, but it all changed when it happened to my HTC One. Accidents happen and I'd rather lose a screen protector than have to use that free screen replacement. I think 10 bucks is a reasonable price to spend to protect a $600-700 phone, especially when i plan on keeping it for the foreseeable future. I still don't completely understand using bulky cases, but that's probably because I baby my phone.
Spartan glass received today - put it on and took it off - the curved glass edges do not stick and looks terrible - asking for refund

I have never carried a screen protector on my phone previously either as I felt the quality was utter **** on them and I won't look at one with bubbles and crap in it.
The tempered glass ones don't peel up or bubble (when they are not defective and are installed correctly.) They are PERFECTLY clear, don't obscure the screen at all, and they feel just like touching the actual screen. I truly consider them to be poor man's insurance.
Gotcha. Thanks
Hi everyone, I got the S6 Edge and I really enjoy it, this is for me the best smartphone ever regardless the price ^^
As we all know, the S6 and S6 edge are protected by the last Corning solution : The Gorila Glass 4. This one is great against scratches and damages according to some videos on youtube.
So I was wondering if we really need a screen protector - due to the expensive price for a GOOD one which covered all the two curved parts. I can't imagine to put one without having the two edges parts uncovered : , I've already done this to my NOTE EDGE and trust me this is really ugly

Did someone already have scratches on his S6 or S6 EDGE ?
what do you guys think about the resistance of the Gorilla Glass 4 ?
To sum it up, what do you advice me to do ?
Thanks a lot , kind of i'm getting a little bit confused with that
i think you will always get micro scratches over time, i dont use cases find them ugly and in the way but its always a risk, i myself will be getting a tempered glass front and back when they are available
There was scratches on the demo units at the launch event...any screen will scratch even GG4. It comes down to whether it will bother you if it does scrtach, and if you're willing to take the risk?

Do you need a screen protector, the answer is depends on how much you like your screen. The cost to replace the screen is $200 the cost to replace a tempered glass screen protector is $20-40 depending on the device. The Amzer Kristal product is still in mfg and will be here (soon) when its ready. For now I have a simple clear screen protector, but glass is always better.
BTW, my co-worker and his wife both have iphone 6+, she didn't think she need a glass screen protector, well she dropped hers and yup broke the screen, $200 later new screen, then a week later and still no glass screen protector, my co-worker used her phone and set it down on the kitchen counter and it missed, and yup another shattered display and another $200 spent. Now she has a screen protector, I had a spare around since I sold my iphone 6+ for a Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB.

The GG4 is definitely built for damages not really for scratches ...... :crying:

My S$4 was just retired with a well scratched plastic protector. It was plastic and scratched easily. Now with it removed I have a nice new looking phone that isn't being used (after taking the protector off). I suppose if I sell it used that will be worth something. My point is that if you use plastic, you will be replacing the protector once or twice a year or living with a badly scratched protector because they scratch easily. A glass protector will last longer, but likely isn't as scratch proof as the Gorilla glass so it too may need to be replaced once or twice before you retire or sell the phone. I don't drop my phone often so haven't gone to that expense ... a rubber or silicone case around the phone protects the screen from breakage because the phone most likely will land on an edge and that breaks the screen rather than a hit to the screen itself. That protection is more valuable than a screen protector from a breakage standpoint when it comes to dropping. Even a screen protector won't help if you sit on your phone. I don't plan on a screen protector for my S6. I'm going to enjoy having a clear screen and take care of it. I did well with the S4 and will do even better with the S6.
Hi, I've bought recently this phone and wanted a sturdy screen, preferably a glass tempered one but I've got no idea what brands to go for or if those that you can buy cheap on ebay are enough. I'm a bit clumsy so the possiblity of it slipping out of my hand by accident and falling on its screen is there. If anyone can give some input based on experiences, that'd be great.
Cheap plastic ones from amazon always seem to work fine on all my devices.. When they get scratched I have no issues throwing on a new one.
They are cheap but keep the screen flawless

hi, i am using nillkin H+, i bought it from amazon
Things i liked in this Nillkin :
1) my friends tempered glasses catches scratches, fades after long time use (4 months) and makes screen unusable in rain, but as nillkin is having real nano coating it helps me to operate my phone even in rain with out much problem
2) i bought a tempered glass before worth 270inr from ebay it was good to look, but when i was about to remove it as its not having Nano coating on it, then i observed that it cracked and formed small powder fragments on edges when i tried to remove it with hard plastic :silly:
later i installed nillkin, had to remove this also as i didnt manage to fit it perfectly on my screen.. i used the same hard plastic, this time Nillkin tempered didnt break nor atleast formed any tiny fragments, i lifted it and set again with out any problem
these are my observing on my tempered glass
I bought a tempered glass one for around $3 on eBay, haven't gotten it yet. I don't know if the more expensive ones are better, but better can mean 2 things. Either that it's stronger, so won't break easily; or that it protects the phone better. I doubt one will protect the phone more than the other.

I do the same thing. No problems yet.
I bought a nillkin H+ but removed it after a while because the phone screen is much less oleophobic. With the screen protector on, the fingerprints were extremely annoying, at least on my sample.

Undersized
I bought a tempered glass one from an online (no brand). It's undersized, about 1.5mm all around. Probably useful to allow a case to grip the front edge, but the description didn't say so. I feel cheated, but for the price it'll do.
My previous tempered glass ones (branded) were excellent protection, and felt better on my finger than the plastic ones.
[edit] I forgot to say, the shape is one with cut-out north of the top speaker, rather than the others I've seen with speaker hole.
Moto G Premium Quality Screen Protector is Anti Glare Matte edition in my recommendation.
it Protects your device from scratches & dust. Easy to Apply , Fits perfectly and requires no cutting. Comes with a cleaning cloth and application card. Easily removable with no sticky residue or marks
Tempered glass screen protector from amazon
I've been using a SPARIN tempered glass screen protector since I got my moto g in August. (It's about $8 on amazon; unfortunately I can't post a link, but it should be easy to find)
I've managed to crack it in at least 8 places (my phone falls a lot), but it hasn't picked up any scratches yet, and it's protected the actual glass underneath. If you're even a little proficient at holding things, it should be fine.
Snakehive protector
I've only had it a few days, but I bought a Snakehive tempered glass protector for my new G3, from their Amazon store. Very pleased so far. It has cutouts for the mouthpiece at the bottom and for the earpiece, light sensor and camera at the top, although at the top it doesn't surround them for some reason, but that's only a couple of milimetres uncovered. It was a breeze to put on when compared to film protectors. I laid it over the mouthpiece and it simply eased itself into place over the rest of the screen. Seems a bargain at the current £3.95.
I'm wanting to get the flip down case from Snakehive too, assuming they get more stock in.

It's my point of view.

I used and have a Mr shield or something like that from Amazon super easy too install i've had no bubbles when placing it on the phone also bought a case where there was enough space that should it fall on the screen side it's not touching the floor I've dropped my phone about 5 times over the course of a year. Took off the case and replaced the screen protector and it still looks like brand new minus where I've blindly inserted the USB cord.

my phone has some minor scuffs and little bend on bottom right corner but thats coz the phone fell from above 5 feet . must say the build quality is very solid
Honestly, you just don't need them these days. Had my G3 6 months, not a single scratch and I am hardly careful with it, gets thrown in pocket with keys and lose change, and dropped often because I am clumsy. Plenty of dents along the bezel but screen as good as new.
Is this to be expected or is this just a crap screen protector? I paid $40 for this thing because I forgot to order one with my phone, it was the only Nexus 5X protector I could find in a 50 mile radius. I put it on properly (bathroom after shower, hinge method), I'm using a case as well. I dropped it about a foot onto the floor today and the corner is smashed, glass shards falling out. Guess what the "lifetime warranty" doesn't cover?
This is the first glass protector I've had so I don't know if this is common for not. Of course they say it's designed to break as it takes the impact force away from the screen. So they're engineered to fail basically? I wouldnt mind as much if it had lasted longer than 6 days, I definitely didn't get my money's worth! I've never broken a screen with the plastic ones I've been using for years so I'm probably not going to use glass again, unless someone can show me a good one
I know a lot of people like the glass screen protectors, but I've had bad luck with them. I had good quality protectors on a DSLR and a phone, and they both "just broke" within a month. The folks who like these things all say, "See, it saved your device's screen!" Well, I don't buy it. Like the OP, I've never had a lick of trouble with screen damage while using a plastic screen protector.
I think it's all just ingenious marketing. They break, and the owner then declares it a good thing (saved my device!) and buys another.

You got ripped off if you paid $40 for a screen protector.

I broke my Spigen tempered glass screen protector a couple of days ago too. It wasn't related to any impact that I could tell, I just picked up my phone one day and there was a small chip/crack near the center of the screen.
I replaced it with another of the same type, but if it breaks again I'm going back to PET.

Pleson glass screen protector with Cruzerlite case user here. I've dropped my phone with that setup probably a handful of times and have had no problems. Had a different brand glass screen protector and same case for my GS5 for the 1.5 year I had it and no problems with that as well. I've never spent more than $10-$15 on the screen protectors.

I use a glass screen protector on my 5x, my girlfriend uses one for her iPhone. I've never cracked any of my phones' screens, nor have I cracked my glass screen protector (this is my first device with one). My girlfriend has broken her current iPhone's screen twice. So I made her get a glass screen protector to see if that'd help. Went a month before hers cracked from dropping it. But saved getting the screen replaced! I think they're worth it...

If you pay more than $5 for tempered glass, you're gonna have a bad time. They are all literally the exact same thing.
That being said... It alllllll depends on how it hits. OP, sounds like you just had it in a sweet spot.
Worst case anyways, screen assemblies are going for $60 if you know where to source the part. LG phones are super quick and easy to fix.
$40 is too expensive for me,many brands are avaliable and you really don't need pay so much!As far as i know, lifetime warranty dosen't cover"abnomal use",if your protector have halo effects or bubbles during installation etc, sellers will arrange a new one for you without hesitate.
I know op is a bit old by now and it's already been said, but $40 for a tempered glass screen protector was a huge ripoff.
On amazon they are 6-10 max. I've got a few different brands and they are all the same - meaning they are probably just bought by different companies for their own rebranding.

The biggest difference is some of the cheaper ones lack oleophobic coatings, or have weak ones which wear out very quickly. Also more expensive ones tend to have edges rounded off which is nice for people who don't use a case.
I bought one of their screens for my LGV30+ as its the only one I could find retail that seemed ok. It's terrible, the silicone seal failed after 2 months, screen cracked after 3. They won't honor the lifetime warranty unless I send them 9.99$ on top of the 40$ original price. Hilarious company.
