Hi guys, this has really been a terrible thing ive been getting every time i use the STOCK rom rooted on my xt1095.
Ive been searching the world wide web for a solution and nobody seems to be having this problem so this is my last resource.
Im on the latest app update for moto camera and when i try to open it up, the tooltips (kinda like a "setup wizard", like the hints and tips you get whenever you launch the app for the first time) will show up, but when trying to hit on Next to skip them, im not able to do it, it is as if the Next button doesnt work.
Long story short, theres no way for me to get rid of that, every time i open the app the hints will show because next button doesnt work. I can press the back button on navigation bar and it will take me to the actual camera, without the hints, but if i try to press the record video button or the swap camera button, it will take a picture instead, as if those buttons wont work as well. The wheel menu you pull up from the left does work though.
Has ANYBODY else experienced this problem???? This has been making me scratch my head since i have this phone because it forces me to use another camera app.
Thank you in advance
Try to flash the zip from the link below through your recovery. It works like a charm for me at stock rom and at cm13.

Don't forget to wipe cache and dalvic cache after installation.

Before flashing the zip i read the thread, and reason why camera has this problem is because of customized DPI setting. Cant believe i hadnt seen this before. Thanks a lot dude, really appreciate it.

oh on some roms the camera button opens search. How do you activate voice on cyan mod?
Did you repartition that sd card?Seems like a problem to me.
I have tried from the apps list and the icon on the google search widget.
Dont you need to repartition before flashing a new cyan rom?

Nope i dont think so. Everything else is working great, just the voice search is force closing.
reporrt the bug in his tread so he can fix it
Just today I upgraded to the latest Cyanogen release (4.2.12.2) on my G1 from pre-4.1.99, and any time I attempt to open either the Camera or Camcorder, it Force Closes, and returns me to the home screen.
I've tried cleaing the cache/data for both the Camera and Camcorder, but that didn't appear to fix the issue. I've also run the fix_permissions command as well, which didn't help either.
Any ideas on what might help fix this problem?
run fix_permissions from console... and post in correct section next time
I apologize for having posted this in the wrong section - where does it belong?
Also, I stated in my OP that I ran the fix_permissions command; from the console was implied.
In the 4.2.12.2 thread.
Thread Moved to Q&A.
I just tried two things: first just wiping and flashing the Cyan Rom again, and that didn't fix it.
Then, I wiped, installed the 1.6 base rom, and then Cyan Rom on top of that, and I still get Force Closes for both the camera and camcorder.
So, I'm still stuck. Any more ideas?
Do you have any apps that use camera (Google Goggles, Barcode Scanner, etc)? You may have to wipe data from those as well.
Also, do you have apps2sd? If so, wiping is not as effective as it is without it. If you do apps2sd then you need to run this from terminal
Code:
su
rm -r system/sd/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
Good luck.

I tried running these commands in the Terminal Emulator, and after the reboot, I still get FCs when trying to open the Camcorder and Camera.
I collected the log, and have attached what I believe to be the relevant portion of it to this message.
Any more ideas?
same here!!!
I am having the exact same issue as you show in the log file
have had some success in reflashing base rom but it only works for a day or so (or hours in some cases)
believe it to be an issue with the drivers but something is killing the camera every time
have removed all apps and reflashed but now it just keeps fc
if any of the devs working on camera issues could have a look please help
cheers

same here, and I tried:
going back to 4.2.8 (where camera last worked for me, before going straight to 4.2.13),
I tried wiping,
I tried removing and and re-making the ext3 partition
I tried reflashing the radio (2.22.19.26I from http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/)
My camera is still dead (force closes)
If you have the same issue (camera force closing, flashing older OS not fixing the issue), PLEASE go to Cyanogenmod project Google Code website and click the star next to "Vote for this issue and get email change notifications" on the bottom of the page. You have to be signed into your Google account.
Voting for this issue will raise it's priority (crucial, as it seems to affect a small number of units so far, but it's a show stopper).

Much respect for Cyanogen and all he does for further the HTC Dream: G1 community.
However, if you are having so many issues maybe its time to change to
another Rom altogether. Just my 2 cents..

Here's a few more pennies my good man, if the camera is a deal breaker then consider my above comment and change Rom.
Your choice, that's why this community should never go away.
Freedom to customize as you see necessary and fit is the ultimate reward.

I too a while back had problems installing roms and constantly seeing FCs on my phone. .
The way I fixed that problem was using a bigger/better/faster microSD card I already had.
( @Cqms: I see you already have a newer microSD however, perhaps formatting it after backing up your contents first suits you and then copying everything back once finished. Finally wipe completely/flash Rom and you're set).
Formatted it fat32, since I copied my data on the pc first I copied what I had to the new one.
And finally installed what in my opinion to be one of the best Roms (see my signature) through the wipe/flash procedure and have been extremely happy since.
Camera is back (sort of!!)
Ok as suggested by Legend in above post - wiped formatted etc and flashed super D ROM
Camera comes back but has some kinda solarisation effect which I cant seem to get rid off.
Added to this is my contacts and dialer keep fC ing on me so this ROM is a non runner for me even with a semi working camera
getting closer to the fix though
maybe ima try reflashing cyanogens latest again and see if i can sort the weird effect on the camera
heres hoping

Hey guys,
This problem is here longer for me, I've already sent back my phone 2 times, and they won't resolve the issue.
My problem is that the accelerometer is not calibrated right. One side is ok, but in landscape mode it's calibrated horrible. For example, when I use the app 'Google Sky Map' holding the phone in portrait mode just works ok (the horizon is in a straight line). Switching to landscape makes it bad, the horizon is now from 1 corner into another corner...
As I said before, i've already returned it twice to HTC via the shop I bought it. They say I can calibrate it in the program settings. But that's the problem, in al lot of program's / games i cant. Also the plain android homescreen rotates irritating because of the bad callibration.
So, I googled about the issue and couldn't find any solution. But I did find some folder / file (akmd_set.txt) where the sensor info is stored. I have rooted my device, and am running the latest CyanogenMod on it. I already wiped, returned old (non root, stock) android versions on it, rooted again, flashed cyanogen. But none of this works....
Does anyone know a solution to calibrate my settings? Can I get that file, edit it on my PC and flash it back in maybe?
If yes, please explain me
Thanks in advance!
Don't take my word for gospel or anything but....
As far as I know, that file is auto-generated, meaning you can delete it and it will force the accelerometer to recalibrate itself.
I think Cyan's and RA's recoveries both have an option to "Wipe Rotate Settings" which I've done several times, so I know it's safe. Try this if you haven't already. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply, trying it out now.
Did the wipe rotation settings option I have to see if it worked, because none of my aps are working now.... they all have an plain android box icon and clicking on them says the app is not installed.
Yeah, i've got Apps2SD and the SD card is loaded, how to fix this? Then I can check if it worked with the Sky Map program.
Oh, and if not, how do I remove that file via terminal?
EDIT: Damn, can't get the apps to work again my whole phone seems broken now. I even can't install new apps :S
EDIT2: Just checked my SD card, it is still working good at my PC, but not in my phone. At once the phone can't read SD cards... Please, does somebody a solution?
It sounds like you wiped ext through recovery. Search on how to explore your sd card as root and see if your apps are there. You may need to reflash your rom unless you have a nandroid backup you can restore.

Nope I didn't do that, it was just a file in the CM Rom that was changed. The phone wasn't able to read the SD card, but the PC was and in recovery mode it could read it too... So I just flashed the CM Mod again and it's working now.
Problem is, my sensors still don't work Please does anyone has a solution, or a how-to on how to change the file?
Sorry you're having so much trouble with this, but it's beyond my scope of knowledge at this point. Hopefully someone else can check it out. If the Cyanogen IRC channel is still around you might be able to find help there.
I've got CM7 running and everything is perfect...But I decided to remove the lockscreen that I had enabled earlier and now the screen is locked and there is seemingly no way to unlock it.
Under the lockscreen settings, I know that I enabled the first and third options thinking that all I would have to do is press the "N" button on the bottom to unlock but nope!
Can anyone help or am I forced to completely reset this.
lol i did the same thing as you to try and see if i could be of any help but i also got stuck at the lockscreen.
the menu button is the two rectangles (to the right of the home softkey) and not the 'n' button. well anyways i tried both the 'n' and the menu soft key and nothing happens. i guess this could be a good excuse to update to the stable cm7 as i dont think this can be undone otherwise
LOL I'm sorry to hear that...I wasn't expecting someone to try the same.
Well, if I have to install a new build, do I simply install over the existing in CWM or do I have to format a section only...I'm happy with the kernel. Do I have to reinstall Gapps?
you can simply reinstall over the existing cm7 build without formatting anything and you dont have to reinstall gapps.
however two things to note:
1. if gapps force close after flashing a newer cm7 build, you will have to reflash the gapps. this has happened very rarely while updating versions of other roms but it has happened.
2. if the lockscreen still stays the same after flashing the new cm7 build, that means that the cm7 settings were not reset. if this is the case, we both will have to do a full system, data and cache format using cwm and then flash cm7. hope it doesnt come to that.
Well you're right...it doesn't reset the system. I'll do the full reinstall tomorrow...thanks though for you help!

Thanks for the adb suggestion but I'm far too impatient to actually wait for help so I reinstalled everything.
Just as well really as I really wanted to jump to the latest version on a clean install. Everything is running beautifully (again). Thanks to all to those that posted here!
Hi all, i am having a big trouble about the camera.
So i was using the official CM12, but since recently the camera keep FC or it kept saying can't connect to camera,
i decided to change to the other ROM. However, when i changed to Titan Prime 1.1, i can open the camera ONCE. After that same issue happen!!
it is not only the camera, also the screenshot function is not working! It kept saying due to limited storage the screenshot couldn't be taken
So i tried the following methods:
1. Force stop camera app, clean cache+data, reboot => didn't work
2. Install the CameraFiles-Signed.zip => didn't work
3. Wipe the system, data, cache and davik cache and install different versions of CM or Titan Prime 1.1 =>didn't work
Does anyone has the problem or know how to solve this??
Thanks!

I tried the first method and it didn't work. And i used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...dows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1064-restore-t2957167 method to restore to Stock.
But both method doesn't work still. When i open camera on stock rom, it said camera is busy. If this repeat please power off and restart your phone,

power off, and remove yours sd card.
power on and give a try.
if no good factory reset without the sd card and give a try.
you may have something in the sd causing it.

Good that works. Try to format the card or use other to see if the problem is 100% resolved. Maybe a file in the SD is causing it, so be careful to what files you put back in the card.

Hi guys i need help again. After a few week, without flashing any new roms, the problem pops out again.
Could it be problem about the path of camera? It is no longer in system/app
And if so how should i move it?
I searched for a long time and people said it could be permission problem.
I tried to use TWRP to fix ( which ends up in bootloop even with busybox),
and i try to clean wipe and install rom,
or even restore to stock rom, it still doesn't work.
Anyone can help.....?
the camera error
Hi guys so i tried to capture the error.
It said something about getting nullpointer, anyone know how to fix this?
I switched to CM12 rom, it has camera2. apk in system/app.
But it seems that the system still can't find the camera!
