Have there been any custom roms made for this phone yet? I have my boot loader unlocked and twrp installed. Ready to play with my phone a little. Wish I knew how to make roms myself. By the way the step by step guide for unlocking boot loader and installing twrp and super su was awesome. Thanks

At the risk of sounding like a ****, what you see is what you get in the android development section of this desire 626 forum. So no, there are no custom ROMs, however you might find some debloated stock ROMs that a few people in here have spent a lot of time and effort on. hope this helps....
There are custom kernels?
Please can I get a link to custom kernels for this phone? I'm also having issues with my unlocked sprint 626s as I'm stuck on 2g will flashing a new radio solve it or any suggestions?

Is it really possible to flash a custom ROM on a nexus one with only root and without unlocking the boot loader? I was under the impression that it is impossible but the nexus one wiki states you can either unlock and root or root without unlocking and flash a custom ROM. Would this work with CM7? Thanks and sorry for being a noob but I couldn't find a clear answer to this.
Yes you can, I'm on CM7.
Thanks so much, also does anyone know if there are any special steps involved getting there if you have a nexus one with a slcd panel. Steps for getting back to stock would also be awesome! Thanks!
EDIT: Just to verify, custom recoveries are overwritten by the passimg method of getting to stock correct?
Root and passimg are the same for slcd and amoled panel there are no special steps. Passimg will not revert you back to stock recovery but it will return the stock ROM which upon boot reverts the recovery back to stock.
Thanks for all the answers. I've put together a little guide for what to download etc etc... I think I'll bundle everything and upload it with instructions at some point. Please do tell me if there is a complete guide to flash a custom rom without unlocking that is not as confusing as the wiki for noobs. Also I believe my guide would alleviate some slcd bricking...
Look for a thread sometime in the coming days...
As subject line states, I'm thinking about getting an htc one but I have a concern. I swore off htc devices b/c they can be such a ***** to open up for custom roms. For example, when I had the htc evo 4g (2012 flagship) I had to root, then install custom recovery, then obtain s-off. I'm just wondering if this device is the same. Is all u need root, then custom recovery? Or, do u need s-off too? If so, is it easy to do? If anyone could link me to a tutorial I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks!
you have to unlock your bootloader first then you can install a custom recovery and root. you dont need to S-off to get the basics

What do u mean by basics? Can I flash ANY custom rom, radios, kernels, etc? Thanks for your help.
yes most roms and kernels are flash-able with a custom recovery like TWRP - S-off i think is only for modifying things like the bootloader. i just unlocked and installed TWRP and am running CM-10.2 nightlies just fine.
radios are here

Don't know what your skillset is but PLEASE don't flash any ROM, radio or kernel that is not specifically built for the Sprint HTC ONE (M7SPR or M7WLS). Other than that, you should be good to go with a root and recovery.
Dear all,
I have rooted my device which is running 4.3 (c5502) (build number: . 101) with towelroot. Now i need to install any custom ROM. I came to know that it requires to install recovery first before flash any ROM. I stuck there..Can you please guide me. I didn't unlock my bootloader yet but I had my TA backup with me.Thanks in advance guys.
whatever u need to know is already there. just search for it. if u expect to be spoonfed then you really shouldn't mess with your phone
The thing is, do we really need to unlock boot loader to flash custom roms, or can it be closed just with root and recovery?
No one tryed it till now I think.
Greetings.

Yes for flashing custom Roms the bootloader must be unlocked and a recovery must be installed however if you want to flash a stock based Rom unlocked boot loader is not needed. Just Root and Recovery needed for flashing the stock based Roms. Correct me if i am wrong.
Hi all.
I was a big xda user / developer around the times of x8 / x10.
Things have changed alot
I've now got Xperia sp and is rooted via towelroot and Installed the recoveries. Bootloader is still locked and I am on stock everything
I NEED help. Can I flash a custom rom. Really want to but not.sure.if this will brick my phone. So here I am asking.for help
Thanks in advance and.if.you help I'll be clicking your thanks button.
Thanks again
Yes you can install custom roms, head over the roms zone and find the ones that in their names says "LB" which means Locked bootloader, the ones that say "UBL" are for unlocked bootloader and if the roms says both it means they work on both locked and unlocked bootloader

Hey thanks mate, I was wondering what lb stood for. Not be too long until I am contributing to builds here. I use to help build kernel and bug fixes on xda back in 2010
I love the android Dev section just don't want to brick my.device

Please do me a favour and have a look at that
Can I install it I have root via towelroot and have recoveries installed and.the same build number 12.1.a.1.205?
Yes you can, that rom is for both LB and UBL, and thanks alot mate! i've been browsing xda for a long time now but never had a chance or didn't want to make an account, but oh well, anyway's.. i think there might be better roms for you to try, that one seems like it won't get any more updates..
Also, there's cm, paranoid, pac-man for Locked bootloader, you can take a look on them too
Just make a backup of your current rom in case you want to go back
And sorry for the late reply, wasn't at home!
What about the build number do I have to find one same as my.stock build number.
Nah, anyways, there's a FTF thread that has stock firmwares to download in case you want to flash stock firmware via FlashTools
Hello guys, can somebody answer if for installing custom roms on Mi5 it is necessary to make custom boot images to not get locked out. I read it on miui forums but it wasn't clearly explained or I couldn't make it out and i am worried a bit. I am running a global miui rom with twrp recovery and supersu installed with an unlocked bootloader.
Before this phone i had S3 and there were no shenanigans with modifying boot img so for me it is a bit of a unknown territory.
So basically my question is how much of you guys that have installed custom roms and change roms relatively often, meddle with custom boot img and do you have to make it for every rom you want to install in order to prevent getting locked out of your phone.
