Hello,
I messed up my SGS after upgrading Darkyys. Its just very very slow, like opening Whatsapp takes 20 seconds. It has been this for about 1 month, even after updates it didn't got better. After some research I found a tip: Using chekdisk from Windows to run over the internal SD helped to gain some speed but its still not normal.
Now I want to format the internal SD as I guess it has some errors. Normal factory reset or reformat doesn't work. I read something about flashing some firmwares with all 3 files (?) and this twice, once with one pit (?) and than with a different(?). I'm not sure which files exactly are needed and if boxes like "repartition" needs to be checked.
Please help as I know that here a smart people around. Which files, which settings etc. Finally I would love some suggestions for a lean ROM with GPS and battery working/lasting better.
Thanks!
nobody`? I really want to fix this
When you flashed the Darkyy's ROM, did you do a clean install (wipe) or non-wipe?
Most likely if it's non-wipe, that could be the cause of the sluggishness.
Try using clockworkmod recovery to wipe dalvik, wipe cache, etc. Your first bootup after this will be very slow, but then it should work fine afterwards.
However, if you've done all this already, there might be other factors involved.
It's very difficult to point out a direct cause, there might be many, or just one.
Only reformat you internal SD, etc. as a last resort.
If that still doesn't work, try some other ROMs and see if the problem persists, then there might be an issue with your device.
I tried everything, of course with wipe.

And how to? Odin? Re-partition?
thx
to format the internal sd card go to settings then storage and erase the sd card to format it...
to install a new rom:
first download any official rom that you want and its come with three files for pda, phone and csc
then use odin to flash it and dont forget to use the pit file for galaxy s 9000 and tick repartition...
after that go to darky site and follow the instructions to flash the last darky rom
Well, but on a running ROM you cant format the SD card. I need to format the system's internal card.
First of all, I am posting this thread here because I can reply in a thread about CWM, since topics are located in the Dev part and I, as a new user, dont have the access. To get it, it would take me an hour or so, to get 10 posts.
Back to this thread...
So yesterday I rooted my LG Optimus 2x using this Guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
and I did everything as listed.
Then I downloaded ROM Manager and tried to download a CM7 ROM. First I had to re-flash CWM Recovery (for some reason). After that I tried to backup my ROM(Stock 2.3.4, flashed without root, LG support is great yay!), but when it rebooted and launched CWM, nothing happened.
I couldn`t even select a command by pressing power button. I was worried, but since I did nothing to the ROM, I pulled out the battery. Since I knew there was a backup option when downloading the ROM, I downloaded it and again, when CWM launched, nothing happened. This time I could choose commands, so I went on and rebooted.
So I did it manually, downloaded gapps and CM7, placed them on my 1gb SD card. Launched into CWM, made a backup, wiped data, cache and partition cache. Installed CM7 from SD and Google Apps. Rebooted and the nice CM7 Launch Screen appeared.
So until now everything went seemingly well. When I did the setup I noticed the Google Apps were missing, but I didn`t mind that. That was the only problem issue.
Today I tried to take a picture, but I couldn`t because my SD card was full. First I was confused, since the Camera shots used to be stored in the Internal memory.
So I plug the phone into my PC and checked the External SD card. The Back-up ROM took all the space and I am quite bothered, since I have planned on changing my SD card.
Now I wrote all this just in case I did something wrong, but here is the question:
Can I somehow move this back-up to my Internal storage and not lose my Back-Up.
Where is CMW installed?(I had to re-install it again after ROM flash. ROM Manager remained on my phone, while other apps go deleted.)
Now this is quite a lot of text, but I am a newbie, and I need to know if I messed it up.
Thanks in advance!
CWM are installed to an own partition (cant remember wich one, but that doesnt really matter)
Just move backup folder from /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/*BackupDate* to /mnt/emmc/clockworkmod/backup or something like that,
Try and see
When I connect the phone to PC I get to folder, the External SD one and Internal(5,5gb). THere is a folder called clockworkmod, but I cant see the mnt and emmc thingys.
Is it allright if i copy my whole backup folder there(there is a download folder for CM7. I can delete that can`t I, for storage space purposes.)
Ty
Should work
hello, i am new to xda.. so please forgive me if i stated a wrong question or in the wrong section or even repeat the question as i couldnt get a fully satisfying solution searching the forum. i cant post directly in the developer section as i dont yet have access to it...so i posted in the QnA section.
so i have xperia x8 with stock kernel and i have flashed a custom rom PrimeHD v6.0 after reading thoroughly all the requirements and procedures.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480404
and then i had installed a tweak for cm7 roms: jimdemdroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379754
now the thing is i want to upgrade the present custom rom ie v6.0 to v7.0
but i am kind of unsure how to do it correctly.. i mean i know how to do it through the recovery.. but my questions are:
1. do i have to again factory reset/full wipe the phone again??..
2. do i have to clear all caches.. like the dalvik cache etc.. [i read it somewhere you have to delete all the caches]
3. will the applications INSTALLED on my external storage be affected if at all i require a full wipe?
4. since i have flashed jimdemdroid tweak, do i have to do full wipe in this case?.. ie if otherwise the wipe isnt required or so..
5. a detailed step by step instruction would be very appreciated!!
some off the topic questions..[just didnt want to open a new thread for these]
1. do i actually need the jimdemdroid tweak [even the lite version] on primehd mod.. as i dont see much difference except the bravia engine.. no to mention the dsp manager doesnt work now due to xloud drivers..
2. i had selected the install location in the cyanogenmod application settings to external. ie the apps shud now go to the sdcard.. but my internal storage now also gets filled.. and also in the normal application settings->manage applications-> i still find a 'move to sd card' button active.. if i already have installed the apps in the external storage [which also gets filled obviously] then that option shudnt be there.. or faded w/e..
i was on 6.0 (stock kernel) and i upgraded to 7.0 today
everything is working perfectly for me, even the wifi wich doesn't work on custom kernels work perfect.
if you ask me, i would remove jimdemdroid, because there is no big difference with or without it
i didn't wiped anything, and i used titanium backup for backuping everything (messages, contacts, bookmarks, calendars, apps) just in case
install and reboot only..
no need full wipe
The new update it will wipe your current system, with any changes made by you..e.x this tweak, but not your data
So
if you want it you must install it again(the tweak package..)
we clear the dalvik when we have incompatibles with apps
And also if we have force close with a app we delete in data/data /the file of this and reinstall it

Answer to your questions :
1. A full wipe is always recommended to avoid any type of possible bugs/errors.
2. Once you do a full wipe , clearing dalvik cache etc is NOT required
3. android.secure (applications on SD card) is formatted
4. Full wipe after flashing the tweak is not required. However if you face some problems/errors , do a full wipe
5. Just gave you the answers
Off topic answers :
1. PrimeHD is already stable enough. As such the tweak is not required.
2. When an application is moved to SD card , only some part is shifted to the SD card. The whole application is NOT transferred to the SD card. Did you try to click on the "Move to SD card" option. Probably your app wasn't even installed to the SD card in the first place.
thank you all for your replies..
ok so i get it like this
1. download primehdv7.0 files and move it to sdcard
2. reboot into cwm recovery
3. do a full wipe [optional- just to eliminate bugs by mere chance- though it will remove my messages contacts on internal storage and apps on external storage]
4. install zip from sdcard
5. reboot and done!
please confirm the above thing.. thank you.. and yes one more thing... if i dont do a full wipe.. do i require to remove caches and stats .. if yes.. then please mention all of them..
and @mayank77 for the offtopic answer.. i get it about the partial move of apps to sd... but i also read about the permanent solution to move complete app to sd.. ie via sdk manager following steps to setInstallLocation to 2 (external) via cmd using adb
but recently i tried this method on my friends mobile which is android 2.2 galaxy fit and it doesnt seems to work.. i rechecked the install location by pm getinstalllocation and it says there external.. but then too the internal storage was getting filled... now i suspected this method also as a partial moving to sd.. but no.. the whole app was installed in the phone memory.. any suggestions to that??
as I exp if you use other rom i always wipe my system ,,,and I use flash player after wards,, note if you dont know how to use flash tool pls do soo before performing wiping system on your cwm
@rezzen25 : flash player or flash tool??..
and i need a confirmation if the flashtool has to be used for sure.. as from the previous replies.. i dont think that we are to use flashtool..
personal satisfaction for doing safe measures is a different thing though.. and this isnt a new rom i am adding.. its an upgrade to the same rom..

First of all welcome to xda yeah for the clean installation of romm what u need to do is
1 WIPEdata/factory reset
2 wipe cache partion
3 in advance option wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats
this are the steps for clean installation
but i do not insists on upgrading the rom always do a clean installation
and for moving app2sd there is brilliant app called link2sd on the google play store it moves the complete app and dalvik cache too but for that u need to partion your sd card to ext3 or ext4 based on the app i am using ext4 partion
and partion can be done via two methods in built recovery or by the help of pc app windows miniwizard partion tool search for partion tutuorial on xda
good luck and if ur trying to unlock ur bootloader if aware of reading the stickies in the general section

flashtool is used in the case of soft bricking or flashing the kernels not for flashing roms
instead do a clean install rather then upgrade my openion though
@ankitxperia : thanks a lot ... i exactly needed this reply.. i think i will do a clean install whatsoever
about link2sd.. yeah i will look for partitioning guide and give that a try... i read it somewhere that link2sd does all the job... but i was quite reluctant to try partitioning as i got to read and stuff.. but now... i will definitely read and do the partition..
and yes.. please tell if you have tried the sdk manager thing to install your apps to sd card directly.. as i said it didnt seem to work.. if you have tried it ie setinstalllocation to external.. please confirm that it works .. thank you..
O my fg...
Dude install and reboot for v7
Full wipe if the dev say it..
Like v8 who's say:
To install v8 make full wipe and don't ask why...
And also i read something for v9..
So wait and make 10 posts to make there your questions

PrimeHD v 8.0 has released. It's OK. I using now...
I currently have no rom installed due to me wiping the cache and data. I'm trying to put the cyanogenmod 11 zip on the sd card by mounting usb storage, however it doesn't allow to copy it over to the sd and just says "discovering items". Upon mounting the usb storage it recommends me to fix the device as there are some problems with files, I tried the scan and fix options but it did not help.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On some kernels you can use connection to PC when you are in recovery, on some not. I do not know on what kernel and recovery you are now. But it seems it is not working. So solution is to do nandroid restore if you made a nandroid backup in recovery. I suppose you did not, so now your option is to flash stock JB from Download Mode with Odin, and copy ROM while you are in system. Or use some other phone and put SD card in it and copy like that.

Some of it has, some do not. I am not sure what version has it and what do not. I remember some version, maybe CoCore opens internal and external storage on PC automatically. But I can't remember was it CoCore or some else.

Actually it's something interesting, a senior. Like when Windows95 new entry in our country. At that time the system "DOS For Windows" is still very familiar in computer lessons in our education. (Developing Countries). So we can still do "Copy" and "Paste" via diskette in the system "DOS". I think CWM is almost similar to the DOS system. I mean, CWM will be very useful if a time on the android main system can not be done. Of course may be done through CWM. cmiiw.
Hi folks, maybe someone encounters the same problem. I installed CM13 02/12 along with opengapps, which worked fine.
I then decided to use my SD Card as internal, which also worked like a charm.
But when I tried to update, TWRP can't see the contents of the SD-Card.
So I flashed Philz, and flashed the new build via sideload (should be possible with TWRP as well). That resulted in a phone, which wont boot up and is stuck in the bootlogo.
I then flashed Rom and Gapps via sideload, the phone boots up, but Setup Wizard App (I think its called that in English) keeps on crashing, rendering the phone unusable.
(I then erased internal storage, messing up everything, and returned to CM12)
So here are the questions:
1. Did anyone succesfully update his phone, while having activated the storage merging option?
2. Does anyone know, how to stop Setup Wizard from closing? (I think, I read somewhere it is because of missing rights and that you can fiddle with some "packages.xml" to fix that)
Thanks guys!
-UPDATE:
Here are three solutions for updating:
a) The downloaded .zip file has to be moved to /data (if wanted, into some subfolder of your choice. ES-File Explorer needs root for that) Then flash via TWRP.
b) Use flashify, choose copy to safe location (had some FC's afterwards)
c) Use cm-recovery, update via cm-updater (not yet confirmed)

1. I don't think so. For this we should need an updated recovery supporting this feature. Furthermore, the feature is not fully ready, imho
2. I don't know. Never had this problem.

For your other question I don't know.
Using SD card as internal storage in Marshmallow repartitions it with ext4 filesystem and encrypts it. A recovery needs to handle both support for ext4 and decrypting the files on it - which should be impossible without the correct key.
Currently you should use SD as portable/external to keep unencrypted fat file system.

The first part is true.
But I don't agree for the second part. This new option is great as long as you know how to use it and how not to loose all your data when changing ROM.
Flashify CAN flash when during the process you choose "use provided path".
Why ? Because it stores the ROM on the data partition and with a custom script it allows the recovery to mount the data partition and the flash the ROM.

I believe you when you say Flashify can flash the rom. But as said, it's all way to complicated for the 'average' user. Especially because of the encryption, which causes the sd card to be unseen by, for example, your recovery or your pc. These things have to be solved first!

Hey Mavireck, thank you for that info, I will try Flashify soon! Did you flash the ROM only or ROM + GAPPS?
And I understand that there are different opinions, but for me, merging internal storage is kind of a "key" feature for substituting Link2SD. I'm hoping to see some kind of recovery, which can decrypt the SD card in the near future (or the possibilty to choose not to use encryption)!

The twrp team is awesome. They will find a fix.
I only tried flashing the ROM but i think you can flash at the same time gapps.
Alright, Flashify works, if you pick the option "copy to safe directory" or similar. "use provided path" doesnt work for me.
But after the update, Nova Launcher keeps crashing and titanium backup doesnt show up on the app drawer anymore, but is still installed and cant be uninstalled to reinstall. pretty weird. So for me, this option doesnt really work either.
I copy the update zip file to \Data\Media\0\twrp and i can update
Anyone knows if the SuperSU 2.60 works in the CM13 Moto G2014???
@Poeta, I copy the zip to /data/fota which I think is a slightly more appropriate choice (fota= firmware over the air, which is exactly what this process is)... But regardless of the location, the point is to use /data partition (which is accessible from both within marshmallow os and recovery) instead of internal storage or sd card.

Hey everyone. I have a question for whomever formatted the SD as internal.
First of all, yes, it's a little buggy, but I find it extremely useful, hats off to Google!
Then, I've been having this weird problem where if I try to reboot the phone with the SD card inserted it would go into a bootloop. I usually reboot into bootloader, remove the SD card, reboot again and put in the SD card after android has fully launched.
Anyone having the same problem?
I'm using the 14/11 version of the rom (goodness. I'm outdated!) and my SD card is pretty much brand new. A 32gb sandisk class 10 U3.
Thanks in advance!

I've tried like 4 releases of CM13 so far, never had a problem like that. But I only used builds from december, so I would suggest you go for a newer version, after a backup of course
Heres something else I found at the CM13 thread I wanted to share with you:
Also, keep in mind that this problem might be isolated to TWRP. @LuK1337 informed me that if you:
Use CMUpdater to download ROM
Let CMUpdater "Reboot and Install" ROM directly
and have CM recovery installed
... then it works flawlessly. I have yet to try it (since no new nightlies have come out since I learned of this approach.)
So guys, I updated to todays build by moving it to the /data partition and then using twrp. Works like a charm! Thanks everyone for your help!
