Upgrading from lollipop

So currently i am on lollipop 5.1 10n stock rooted rom with twrp recovery. So how exactly do i go about upgrading to marshmellow with root/ twrp etc? Im not new to android rooting or anything, but definetly havent had to do this before haha, any help is appreciated thanks!

well my way would be upgrade using LGUP and 20i KDZ LP and 10n are antirollback V2..20o its v3 so you cant go to 20o and downgrade only if you stay on 20i and then go back to 10nLP...
heres intructions for KDZ 20i and unlock preocedure.. youll need minimal adb.. unless you have sdk studio..

i didnt make myself clear LOL don upgrade to 20o unless you want to get stuck its 0in there...as is antirollback version V3.. so 20i and 10n are V2 you can upgrade or downgrade as long as you stay on MM20i or LP 10n doing so 20o will brick phone if try to downgrade....
when you connect phone make sure you tick allow connection on screen and another option for adb.. then you are all set

not sure, i heard smoother and maybe a little better on battery. and supposely security patch...
but youll be stuck there.. until if someone can make bypass antiroll back or untill if nougat hits G4.

Update to 20o from rooted 20i

Hello. I have a rooted, bootloader unlocked and twrp installed lg g4 h811 20i. I want to know if i can use the official ota method to upgrade to 20o safely? Will it cause bootloop or brick? Coz my phone is rooted.
Do i need to flash stock unrooted kdz and then upgrade or i can just use the ota method safely?

from 20i to 20o ota or dirty flash will give you camera problems and no sound.... the best way is ...
download 20o KDZ then use LGUP. using the refurbished option so it wipes everything.. once you are on 20o then preoceed to.... install twrp and root.... there a guide in the rom seccion.. also flashing 20o will put you on antirollback V3 so you cant downgrade or youll brick phone... if you want freddom to go from LP to MM stay on 20i MM and could downgrade to 10n LP.

Right. So is there anything new in 20o or should i just stick to 20i until nougat comes out. I have no intention to roll back btw.

I really dont know LG says security patches... and some people report better battery and smoother ui.. its your call..

I think ill wait for nougat or an update which fixes this huge ram consumption.
Btw is there any way to set the grid of the lg g4 default launcher to 3x4? I cant seem to find the settings for it.

Q: how to upgrade to marshmallow manually ?

hello everybody
i have an lg g4 h811 running in lollipop 5 (h81110m build lmy47d) it's unlocked rom but not rooted
when i check for an update in the update centre it took me directly to apps update and there is no software update so i can't check for the update
if there is no solution but the manually update i want to know how and what should i do before update ( what i have to recover, do i need an sd card, what version of marshmallow is compatible, i want an official (stock) unlocked)
am not on t mobile operator so i need a rom which is already unlocked

mine was unlock am not on TMOBILE either. and i moved from LP to latest marshmallow using LGUP and KDZ file .. if you want to test marshmallow then go with 20i.. lollipop 10n and 20i are V2 antirollback. if you go latest 20o its V3 woull be stuck there.. so search for 20i KDZ and LGUP and flash it.

youll have to unlock bootloader .. actually thats how you unlock it gong into MM20i
theres all the info to unlock it and KDZ and LGUP.

hello i also have the same problem. i have the same T mobile lg g4 H811 10m version lollipop. my inbuit update centre is not working. i can update by above method manually but i fear my mobile hotspot wont work. i had sent it to my seller(ebay.in). They said that after updating hotspot wont work,so i said them leave it then(because for me hotspot is important). Actually i heard i US that they charge for mobile hotspot usage but in India mobile tethering & hotspot is free( i use airtel mobile).

i downloaded twrp img file & installed adb then ran cmd in twrp file location folder. i enabled usb debugging mode & oem unlock mode in developer options also. Then ran these steps

first thing is you must be on 20i-20o firmeware... so flash using LGUP and KDZ 20i-20o ... at some point you would not be able to doengrade okey.. theres antirollback so if you want to be on LP and MM update to 20i MM this is antirollback V2 and lollipop 10n is V2 you can only switch between those 2.
if you go to 20o then thats V3 you are stuck there no more lollipop.. and if you so if you dont care about lollipop then i suggest to flash 20p thats the latest firmware it cameout like 1-2 weeks ago.
then you must place the twrp file image into the adb folder.. then once in twrp install image from sd card so when ever you boot into recovery you get to recovery this step is to enter recovery but its not installed on phone.
as fo bands i have no idea.. you also need to have phone sim unlocked to be used in india.. this is for unlocking bootloader and flash files roms ect.. not to unlock carrier.

V2 V3 are antirollback wich means you cant downgrade say if you used 20o kdz and you want to go back to lollipop you cant. because 20o its Version3 and lollipop its V2.
KDZ its the original friemware from LG
you dont need to be rooted.
care to explain steps you did exactly to LGUP.

but lgup didnt see my mobile even though i followed mentioned steps. So they had another option, to see my mobile i had to do some changes in commands &that can be done only by rooting they( that thread) says. So to root first i have to unlock bootloader, which i am unable. I cant figure out why LGUP cant see my mobile. Is it because i am in India & mobile is of USA? Or maybe LGUP could access my location through my laptop? I just dont know? Hey is my mobile fake? Because when i opened my mobile i can see "made in South Korea" written on back side (when we remove battery)

lg brand is korean... and are you on windows 10.? no if the phone isnt detected on LGUP theres something , maybe you dont have the right drivers it doesnt matter if you in india or anywhere else.. do a search and see if someone has had the sameproeblem i beleive ive seen this before i just dont know. but some where using windows 10... can you try in another computer and have the right drivers installed.

Yes i have latest version of Windows 10. Is there a problem with windows 10? I hadn't installed lg drivers at that time. Is installing lg driver necessary for lgup?

hey i have windows 10 & i installed lgunited driver but still lgup wasn't able to see my mobile.Do i had to install any other driver. Can u send the link of the driver? please help me with this. i want to update my phone badly.

Hi I am on same situation, i m from Delhi (India) having same G4 unit LP 811 10m. i am on windows 10 and my LGUP detect my phone without any problem. so my question is can i flash MM 20p or i need to flash MM 20i only? is it compulsory to unlock bootloader to do so?

Windows 7 is not possible as all of them whom i know have windows 10. I asked everyone, none of them had anything lower than Windows 10.

Can u give me the link from where you have downloaded lgup & which version of lgup you downloaded? Whether u had installed any drivers as well? From where u purchased your phone? I purchased this phone from ebay. Don't know why lgup is not able to detect my phone..... Any help?

flash 20p then install twrp. root if you want to run stock or just download custom rom and then flash it..

root can be on locked bootloader on 5.1 only using rooted system.img
10n and 20i antirollback V2. you can flash this 2 if you stay there.. 10 is lollipop and 20i is MM.
20o-20p-20q-and latest 20R is antirollback V3 you can switched to any onf this once you flash 20o or higher.
you cant unlock bootloader if you are in lollipop.

20i procedure will brick my device in on 10m read the first post n the link ive posted kingoroot fail n stump root said your device is patched so idk i dont wann brick my new lg g4

no it wont... didnt you read what i posted.? 10n-20i V2. how can you brick in same antirollback.
now 20o-p-q-and r are V3.. NOW V3 to V2 yes hard brick. from 20o to 20i and lower brick.
didnt you see he says hes phone says is a sprint..
(when upgrading i've seen an ls991zv6 i don't know)
either hes board is not h811 tmobile and flashed a h811 kdz to sprint phone..... or he has a h811 and flashed a sprint kdz..
i have not seen this on G4 in G2 yes alot of places would say it was d800. in stickers and all but the motherboard were replaced with anothe variant. so a phone put up togethe of othe phones parts..
then if you dont trust me then i cant help you...

what if i have the same board? cuz i bought it from the same seller on ebay i guess and ik about v2 v3 antirollback thing but if i got it brick how would i go back to 10m? do you have link of stock 10m? i found some images for 10n and the 10h but nothing about the 10m

well... here am not so sure.. like i said in LG G2 there were franken phones made from different parts of other variatns.. but the motherboard was the one to pay attention to. the only way was to open phone and read the motherbard. as they could edit the numbers in software but not on print in motherboard.... this is so odd tough i have not heard this on G4... likei said i dont know what the other guy did. did he downloaded a wrong KDZ.? of did he had right KDZ and motherboard not matching H811. ??? only way is to read the model name number in motherboard..

he flashed 20i ( (h81110m build lmy47d)
after upgrading it with LGUP + kdz img file H81120i_00_0201 (to mm) ) his build # is same as mine..... my board is msm8992 does it matches with yours or its fake hardware... @MicroMod777 H811 One Click TWRP will this method work on 81110m?

i see. i was helping there as well. but since i have not had USBHBULK and since then there was no way to fix. i see now they have some thread about unbricking.
i had that same brick on LG G2 but running KDZ. fix it on G2.. i think here is a different way with G4.
i wonder if that is the same situation. changed motherboard. and am not really sure if motherboards can be use in different variants.. only way is to physically see it.. but since you have warranty. then you are good.

am puzzled... i know in G2 they did that.. so could that be the case here.??
that doesnt help.. that app.
as i already told you. in G2 they can change IMEI and model number.. outside of phone would be a at&t housing then removing phone apart would show other model number for behind battery housing.. so they can edit software it could say d800 in about phone and version , ect d800 housing . but motherboard would be sprint...
guys am just sharing what i have seen in G2.. am not saying its same way.. its just my opinion and my toughts . what else could it be.??
nooo that program does not help. they can edit software info.. but not motherboard printed model.. what am saying is.. to make sure you have a real h811 in case they are building phones from other variants.
is to open phone and physically see the motherboard printed number.

MY lg g4 is original just checked the imei http://www.imei.info/ i tried G4 H811 One Click TWRP method and it worked twrp successfully installed then i flashed chainfire supersu zip and rooted

you should not give your imei out to public..
then you should not have a problem updating to 20i.

Is there any way to root the LG G4 H81120v? I have been looking for hours and cant find anything

yes since 20i-20o-20p-20q-20r-20v all are the same. procedure.. we use the 20i procedure it came first.. BUT dont flash 20i when it ask you to.. since you already in 20r you will be doing this same procedure in 20r so step that says to flash 20i skip you have 20r firmware already... make sure you have LG drivers and for fastboot i used mininal fastboot adb.

Thanks but sadly before I got to do any sort of rooting my phone fell victim to the infamous LG G4 Bootloop killer......
