Hi
I am in Kolkata India and recently switched from a 2G to a 3G plan with Vodafone Kolkata. Ever since then, my problem is that I am unable to connect to 3G using WCDMA. Neither voice nor data works. If I revert to GSM only, then voice and 2G works fine. Wifi has been fine and my saviour at home.
Phone details: Sony Xperia SP C5302 running Android 4.3 build 12.1.A.1.205.
I have confirmed with network service that it is not a SIM card issue, by carrying out the foll. tests already
1- Signal strength in the area of use : At the time when I am unable to connect to 3G, my colleague sitting in the next desk and using a Motorola phone is consistently able to connect to the same 3G network from his phone. So the network strength must be fine.
2- SIM damaged or dirty - I have obtained a new SIM card as replacement, after this problem started, from my service provider yesterday. But the problem is not resolved.
3- Manual network search and connection - I have tried this many times, using WCDMA only or WCDMA(Preferred) options. In either case, only on rare occasions, the phone was able to connect to a network. However, 3G data connection (H+ icon) did not show and then the phone disconnects from network. On most occasions, when I manually attempt to connect to the 3G network, I get the message "Could not register to the selected network. Make sure SIM is inserted."
3- Trying different SIM/Handset - I have tried out both options of switching SIM and handset.
- My SIM on Motorola handset - connects to H+
- Another SIM on my Sony - momentarily connects, then disconnects and then does not connect to network.
Please let me know if anyone has faced similar issues and found any resolution. Thank you in advance.

I think that there's an option to use 2G instead of 3G in the settings menu, have you checked to see if that is enabled?

That is the WCDMA option I've mentioned about, there was no other setting for this.
Anyways, it turned out to be a hardware problem. Got the "mother-board" replaced for free as it was under warranty & now working fine!

Good to see that you've sorted out the problem!
Hello guys,
I am using the C6903 variant of Xperia Z1 (purchased from Saudi Arabia) in India. However, the phone struggles to connect to the LTE network. The 4G network shows up in the list of networks, but on selecting it, it displays "Could not connect to the network now, try again later.".
So I dialed *#*#4636#*#* and selected LTE only. It did work once and the LTE signal indicator did appear, and internet was working for approx 5 seconds, but the signal was very weak and I lost it very soon. Will check if it is a range issue tomorrow.
Using a custom ROM(Stock based) [MX ROM] and a custom kernel (RockZ1L). Is it a baseband issue? Please help
Update: it seems that my providers representative was lying when he said that the area where I live has 4g signal. Went for a little trip and lte seems to be working fine now.
Hey guys i have taken my brothers letv le2 phone. And iam facing airtel 4g signal issues. The speed of the net is very slow as compared to net speed when i put the same sim on my asus device. Also the 4g signal is very unstable. For sometime it connect to 4g then the data connection get lost for 4-5 second ( i think because of shifting to another frequency band i.e. gsm) . When i was using jio sim in letv le2 i was getting the same speed as compared to when i was using it on asus phone. I think reason may be as jio have only 4g bands thats why my le2 was not changing its band to gsm band, and net connection was stable. If anyone faced this problem then please give some suggestions. Should i switch to another rom? And currently i am using eui 5.9 21s. And also i have changed the bands to lte by *#*#4636#*#* and changing apn bearer to lte, but after some the band automatically shifts from lte to unknown.
Did you get any solution? I'm facing exactly same problem.
my mate 10 Pro (C185 UAE REGION) has suddenly lost GSM or 2g connectivity on both sims simultaneously. I connects fine on WCDMA & LTE (3g/4g), however when GSM (2g) is selected signals disappear with a cross (X) sign on both sim slots.
Software was updated last month in November - 20 to 10.0.0.180 with July-20security patch. I have hard rest the phone to factory settings, rest all network settings, taken the device to service center but nothing has helped so far.
Have also engaged with network providers and replaced old sim with new sim but issue still persists.
I used to keep phone on 2g or GSM to conserve battery & for coverage in remote areas where 3g/4g services are not available as I have to travel a lot because of the nature of my Job, but now I have to keep both sims on 4g at all times which affects battery adversely....
Could anyone out here please provide some solution.
Rgds
Also facing same problem here.. Any help from any one? Thanks
Greetings,
I recently replaced the charging port and swapped the battery after that my phone lost reception and only says no network, when i try to change the band from 4g lte to 2g or 3g nothing happenes..
Any solutions ?
I tried almost everything
