The autobrightness works in a weird way. It brightens automatically, but it dims only when lying on a flat surface. It does not dim if i am holding phone in my hand and walking into a dark room. Is that normal? If not whats the fix??

I thought that was the Idea of Auto brightness
The screen brighness changes depending on the Ambient light level in your surroundings
You could try cleaning the screen around the top left corner where the Light sensor is and see if that makes any difference
Try to hold over the sensor for >10 sec and see if it still fluctuates. If not, the sensor is fine and the light hitting the sensor is changing, as waynefox writes.
It is also possible to turn off the auto light for the display
Go to settings-->display-->brightness, and un-tick the automatic brightness
sometimes the screen is dimmed way down, not readable at all, it sometimes dims the screen to a bare minimum.
funny thing is this happens quite often, but it is not consistent. happens both indoors and in sunlight... any idea?
Check your Power Saving setting. If it is enabled, your screan will stay on the dimmest setting.
Hello all,
I have strange problem, my proximity sensor is working fine, even on bright light, but when the light intensity drops, it hangs at engaged position and starts working again only in bright light. Apart from this situation, the sensor is working fine also in darker conditions, as long as it is not exposed to bright light. I have screen replacement, but this looks like matter of sensor, it sort of hangs. Do you have any ideas, what could be the cause, please?
Thank you
Jakub
I have fixed it by placing transparent tape over both sensors and tinted it with black marker. It took a little experimenting on how much black to put on in order for proximity to work properly and still the light sensor getting enough light. The proximity needed several layers of black, although it still remains mystery for me why it worked this particular way
We love Chromecast. It works perfectly using Android phone. But the flashing white light prevents sound sleep. How do we stop the flashing white light. VERY ANOYING.
electrical tape
Sad that electrical tape is the only way to stop tChromecast from flashing the white light every blinking moment the TV is off. Isn't technology wonderful.
Hello,
Did any of you notice the phone auto switching the screen brightness when using it even though you don't move an inch and the room light is the same? For me it seems that sometimes it boosts / dims the display for a few seconds just to come back to the value it was before ... and this is annoying
Thanks!
The light sensor of this phone is on the upper left (near the left side of the earpiece).
If you are using a screen protector that may be covering that area, then you might have some issues with auto brightness.
