Is there a way to trigger Tasker when I change to CM Automobile profile and also when I switch back to CM Default profile? Thanks!

If you trigger a few things e.g. Bluetooth on, Wifi off, NFC on and some more with a CM-profile you could make a tasker profile that include all these. If Bluetooth = on , Wifi = off, NFC = on then "run task". This is not a proper solution but would work in your case. Hope it helps.

I have a Nexus 6 (not rooted) on Verizon, I pay for Hotspots. I would like to use NFC tag's to trigger turning on or off my hotspot or at the very least use a widget that i can turn on/off hotspots. it seems that all the widgets/tasker/Triggger does not turn the hotspot feature on and off so i have to go to the settings each time to turn on the hotspot.
is there a problem with hotspots ?
You can use anycut and create a shortcut icon. As for NFC, you can use a Tasker profile.

Well thats the problem Tasker isnt working but has on other phones. I was wondering if there is a problem with nexus6,non-rooted phones, or Android 5.0.1 has a problem with toggling Hotspot.
If I make a Tasker Action:
Code:
Action >>Settings>>Net>>WifiTether>>[Set] (Toggle)
Then run the action, I get an error of
Action WiFi tether Failed

for example even using "Toggle Hotspot Widget" the widget will reflect if i have turned on/off the hotspot but the widget cannot change the state of the hotspot. it seems that nexus 6 cannot use wigets or anything other going to the settings.
another odd thing that might be related. The Quick settings for hotspot never shows up which should be an added feature of 5.0.1
I've seen mixed results on the 5.0.1 having the hotspot in the quick settings automatically. I know that mine did not. I just added the following to my build.prop and it showed up- but you have to be rooted for this:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
Have you tried - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wakdev.wdnfc ?

I've had the same issue... Tasker nor Trigger are able to turn on/off the hotspot like it has on every other phone I've had. Ever come up with anything that would work?
Same here. Nexus 5x, Android 6.0.1, factory settings. The only way to turn on tethering is in Settings -> Wireless & networks -> More -> Tethering & portable hotspot. The hotspot shortcut in the swipe-down menu only works to turn tethering off, not to turn it on.
Did this get resolved? I'm running pure nexus and nfc not working for hotspot
Hello,
Since Lollipop, the mute mode is no more available in Tasker. The silent mode has “Off” or “Vibrate”, but no more “On”. Fortunately, Tasker support Java to bring back this mute mode.
Here is the tip to create a task to enable the mute mode with Tasker in Android 5+
1- Create a new task named “Mute”
2- In this task, add 2 actions code / Java Function as pictures below. Use the icons mug and magnifying glass to select elements instead of write it.
To enable the mute mode, just call the task “Mute”
In attachement, the xml to be import in Tasker. To import, open the xml with Tasker, then open Tasker and tap on tasks tab on top, to import it.
Tested and works fine on Galaxy S6 firmware stock Lollipop with Tasker 4.8

With this task, no vibration. For event, you can use set time for exemple.
Great sollution thanx
The same method can be solved if the device is not rooted in the mobile data traffic on / off?
I am making this Hungarian translator wrote apologies if incorrect.
Thanks a ton!!!
with this I can finally switch to total mute mode when my phone connects to my Gear S2.
although i had to add the exit state, ie to return to silent mode when the connection was severed. @philippe734 Is there a way to, modify the exit state so that a dialog pops up and we can choose between silent and sound mode, when the bluetooth connection to my watch is severed?
Thanks!
What is the difference between do not disturb mode and this method?
Here to get some post til 10
Sorry only write your post to get access to put my external link on my on forum
Works great on my rooted Galaxy S8. This is a great solution that doesn't require another app to be installed.
Can you suggest any change to go from silent mode to 4inger mode plz. Thanks by the way.
Thank you. It works on my Galaxy A52 5G SM-A526B/DS
Hi, i am sorry if i am posting into wrong forum
but i have issue with tasker i have couple program in there very simple ones based on location and simple switch for example to silent and back to sound when i am and exit certain location and so on. and after i think last update the profiles does not activate any more. i havent done anything in tasker did not added the profiles are on and the location services are on. i have version 4.8u1m. do you know what could have happened? thanks
In your settings in accessibility do you have tasker turned on. Also in tasker itself go to preferences monitor and make sure use new cell Api is checked .
Maybe you switched off tasker? Long press the Tasker icon in the app in the upper left corner. If it's not colored it's switched off

That was it for me! Thanks!!
How do a widget what will be enable and disable tasker? Or how with widget to enable or disable profile what i have in tasker?
I'm searching the same question. If I find anything, I'll report back.
To disable, sure. But if it's disabled of course, any widget created to enable it would never run....Because Tasker is disabled.

Just an idea:
Theoretically you can enable Tasker by:
- automatic tapping: record the keystrokes/taps and than have it done for you when you use the widget.
- or by first killing Tasker to disable it, than when you need, run Tasker again.
For that to work, you can use Tasker to create an app with a widget, this way that function does not depend on Tasker running or not.
I do hope that with coming updates, there will eventually be a way to do this officially from Tasker.

Create a new task (not profile) and set a variable to 1 for on and 0 for off. Use a variable name that makes sense. Add a condition to the profile that requires the new variable to be set to 1. Assign an icon to the task (button in bottom right corner of task window) and then go to the home screen and add a new widget. Scroll down to tasker in the widget list and point it to your new task. The task simply changes the variable to its opposite value when it runs. You can also set the name of the widget and change the on screen icons with tasker actions.
So I think just about every game on my oneplus 7 pro triggers a built in thing called gaming mode. Is it possible to create a profile that begins when that gaming mode starts and ends when that gaming mode ends. In this way I adjust things like volume levels and screen on time along with what the gaming mode does. And once for all of them instead of a profile for every game.
My guess is there is a custom setting that defines the status of the gaming mode. That's only a guess since I don't have a One plus.
You could use the native tasker settings -> custom setting action to see if you can identify what changes when the game mode turns on. Tapping the magnifying icon [emoji361] will bring up an assistant. Once you identify the setting, it can be used in a profile context (system -> custom setting).
From some online reading, I also think that the games that trigger game mode are entered in a list by a user. You could use an app context with each of those games selected so your profile activates whenever the game is in the foreground.
Hitting the gear/cog icon when the profile is selected will bring up settings for the profile. One of those settings is a toggle for restoring settings when the profile exits. In the case of an app trigger, when a different app is in the foreground, the settings made in your entry task will revert.

Upon starting a game that starts game mode the only thing that this method finds is a screen brightness change. when used from state. And nothing when used from event. Strange because if a game is triggering a system setting or something there should be something for tasker to see get triggered so a profile could tie into running while it is active. Much like a profile that would trigger upon phone charging for example and end when not plugged in to charge any more. Any other idea how i can identify what is triggered (for game mode on/off) to set a profile to run along with it?

Yes in game mode you add whatever games you want to trigger the mode. On my LG G4 I had a profile for each game but the profiles were problematic. Some of them would turn on and off while the game was still running. If I can have a profile that runs when game mode is active and ends when game mode is not then I would completely avoid having a new profile for every game.
I was suggesting using the custom setting action in a task to determine the setting. Then use that information in a profile to monitor it.
You can attempt to manually identify the custom setting (if that's what is controlling game mode). See here.
I'm thinking the mode reverts as soon as you leave the game to return to Tasker, so the built in assistant may not catch the change. Grabbing the settings via ADB and running a diff on the before and after may be the only way to go.
Otherwise, someone in the device forums might have insight how this mode is monitored.
As far as the app trigger approach, sometimes you can stabilize the task by putting a wait action at the start of an exit task and then stop the exit task of the calling profile is active (%PACTIVE).
Thanks for the reply with a method to identify the setting. Assuming that it is a setting. Using the custom setting action is a task when tapping on the icon it says to toggle the setting and return to tasker to find out what it is the results ended the same as attempting to use it by the other ways. It returned nothing or brightness found. I'll have to give the method in the link a try and see what happens. Will report back, might be a couple days.
I finally was able to identify the setting for making the profile, thanks much for the help.
