Hi All,
Since i am not allowed to post directly to the original thread to the great CM9 ROM from hei1125 -- Nova HD Plus v1.1,, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508492
I have to ask here who had this ROM and discuss our experiences.
So far i got 2 issues:
- the voice call is very light said the call receiver, could anyone confirm? is there a way to increase the volumn?
- Google map zoom with two fingers is pretty bad, not smooth as it used to be on CM7
Thank you.

For calling and internet related issues, I would always check baseband and RIL first. I'm using the 750 baseband (as suggested by the developer) and got the matching RIL with GetRIL from the market. I have no issues with volume. I'm not quite sure whether I can reproduce your Gmap zoom issue, but perhaps this is because we are still lacking some graphic drivers from nvidia. Just my 2ct...

Yes I did had a lot of troubles with baseband and RIL,,, i tried GetRIL for help with my the latest temsak Kang, where i had problem that sometimes the mobile network is disconnected while screen off.
I felt this new ICS ROM is much better related to connection, only the volumn is too low.
I installed RC3-6 and really enjoyed the ICS experience. The ROM is smooth and stable as advertised.
However some key features are not working i.e. camera video
and some minor things like no support for wired headset button which ruins my usual music listening routine.
I tried this with Ironkernel but couldnt get it working due to the low memory error.
Wiped and installed again without the kernel and this time it worked great, nice ROM. Only problem is I need TUN support to get my vpn working and the included CM9 kernel doesnt seem to have this enabled.
Any other kernels i can try with CM9?

as far as i read from the forum, Ironkenel is great for performance however many other problems like faster battery drain,, so i would stick to the standard kernel and wait for the features to be implemented... at the end, the kernel is still in a relatively early stage and i am happy with the stability we could get so far.

yes it is known that the video recorder does not work.
about the headset button,, i didnt tried, don't like the LG headset quality anyway
I can`t post in dev forum, so I post here.
I miss the Galaxy Nexus bootanimation, and circle battery mod doesn't work in rc4/rc5, so here it is,
Galaxy Nexus bootanimation and circle battery mod for rc5 (I don`t know if it works on rc4)

Thank you for the post.
My last installation was RC3 and there the boot animation worked.
bootanimation dosen`t work since RC4, and circle battery too, I think

I offer a little Mod for CM9, it changes the color of pressed buttons from orange to ICS/CM9 blue, and the battery icons.
Since I use your rom, the mod works in your rom too So the question is, is there a difference between framework-res.apk and systemui.apk in RC4 and RC5
I have gone back to cm7 as I need certain features for daily driving but the Nova rom has me itching for LG to release their update ASAP and look forward to all the custom roms to follow. XDA developers rock!

Hi,
I had disabled auto-rotate when I was on CM7 to reduce battery usage and never enabled it since then.
Recently, I have realized that it doesn't work any more - anyone facing the same issue with CM9/ AOKP ? I have repeatedly done full wipe-flashes with AOKP Build 37 and CM9 2012-05-28 nightly but it hasn't helped.
For reference, the accelerometers report good reading in all orientations and the auto-rotation works in the camera app, but not in gmail, stock browser, opera mini, etc.
While on AOKP/37, I also tried the sensor.zip fix found on one of the pages but that was a no-go too.
Currently I am on CM9/20120528 nightly with Nova launcher. All settings are set for Auto-Rotate (Nova/ System Settings). I also cleared the data/local/yas529.cfg file. After all this, it still doesn't work. I can get proper readings while using RIDGID Digital level (bubble level app) and the Accelerometer tests in Z-Device test, yet no apps will rotate for me .
Any ideas?
Thanks,
RR
PS: Logcat output is here : http://pastebin.com/kdKEDVLs
I tried enabling and disabling auto-rotate a few times, and then checked whether it rotates under Opera Mini and Stock Browser - Did not work. Also checked results of the Digital Level app - worked fine although one of the axis would not give any reading above 82.6 degrees.
PPS: A similar problem was found on the KANG thread in development (but I can't post there as I never needed to post till now, and was relying solely on <Search Forum> advice).

(Bump)

Now it works great!
have fun!
Strange But True
Sorry for the delay in reverting. The above suggestion solved it.
I was waiting for the Linaro goodies to start flowing in before my next flash, but an extremely laggy contacts app meant that I had to move to Slim.
For reference of anyone in the same soup as me:
1. I flashed XXJVU (Stock GB) and then flashed the CF-root kernel to get CWM and root (both using Odin)
2. Then I flashed AOKP-Build 38 from CWM recovery, without wipe (twice, just to be sure). Checked auto rotation and it was working fine.
3. Flashed Slim with full wipe (data format/factory reset, dalvik wipe, and system format, as per karvind's instructions) and the Auto rotate is still working.
Thanks a ton! However, I am very curious: How did the AutoRotation fix persist in spite of full wipes? Where is this 'hidden' partition that is immune to formatting?

You got my hopes up, but sadly this exact procedure still didn't resolve my auto-rotation issue (doesn't work for system apps in ANY ICS ROM).
I'm curious to know if there is anybody else out there who absolutely (still) cannot get auto-rotation working in ICS. I wonder if there is a common hardware similarity that's causing the problem?
Check at every flash
Did you have the Auto rotation working when you had flashed back to the GB rom?
Also confirm if Z Device test gives correct variation in the accelerometer readings.
From GB to rooting to CM9, I did not do any wipe.

Yeah rotation works fine in GB roms. I tried no wipe to ICS as well.
I'm trying Z Device on GB right now, and it does seem a little strange to me that the X and Y axes seem to be limited to +/-10 m/s (+/- 216 degrees). Or is that normal?
+/-10(or 9.8) is perfect.
Did you lose the rotation after rooting the GB, or after CM9?

After CM9. The phone is 2 years old, and I've been through every possible combination of Froyo, GB, custom kernel, etc. Never had a problem with rotation.
Now, in every 4.x based ROM rotation doesn't work - in system apps anyway. It does still work fine in 3rd party apps like games, sensor tests, the camera, etc. But never in the launcher, browser, SMS, etc.
EDIT: Also ran Z Device in CM9 - the results are the same as when running under GB. But still no rotation in ICS.
Mine is a 2 year old phone as well. Plz post the MD5s of the files you used. I will check and confirm if I have the same files.
the rotation sensor on my i9000 seems to work only for certain apps, like the camera app, or the level app that i dl'ed from the store.
i'm thinking that these apps have some kind of low level access and they don't use the system orientation info.
the menus, keyboard, and other system apps don't rotate. isn't there another solution than to reflash a samsumg firmware?`
isn't it possible to port the orientation sensor calibration software that is found in the original samsung firmwares to CM9 or CM10?
or could someone point me to a thrid party app that solves this issue?
ok, i think i need to calibrate the sensor with the program "sensorcalibutil_yamaha" which is usually found in the /system/bin folder on stock samsung roms.
this program is missing in CM9/CM10 however. could someone upload it from their stock samsung rom?? thank you!
Yeah i know i will be a digger but...
I have problem with my i9000, screen rotation works only on stock. Cm9,cm10,gamerzrom, screen rotation is not working, i calibrated the accelerometer by SensorTester and it seems that its (accelerometer and cm hacked orientation sensor) working great, but screen rotation doesn't work, yes i enabled it, when im turning the phone randomly sometimes it will rotate the screen... any help?
i have this bug in mostly all the CM7 ROMs i have used.
the compass in gps test application works great but when i open google maps or novicorp when i rotate my mobile clockwise the needle should stay still i.e. compass needle should rotate in anticlockwise direction which is not the case in google maps which in turn gives me wrong direction and navigation is useless.
please report if you get this bug also.
and i wanted to know about how to fix it.
thank you.
solved

Hi All!
I've just installed MIUIV4 3.1.25 made by KingSoft [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113035 ] but it looks like GPS is not really working. I was wondering if I'm the only one to experience this issue and if there is a known fix or what might cause the problem? Other than that works very well and the ROM is stable!
I was meant to post into the ROM's thread but it appears that I do not have enough privileges for that.
Any reply it very appreciated.
Thank you all!
FIXED!
I've flashed another modem JVU and also installed FasterFix from Play . Not sure if they are related, but GPS is now working fine. Almost instant connection with 5-6 satellites out of 8-9.
Hello,
Sorry for my poor english, I'm french
I have an issue with Google Maps 7.0 installed on CM10.1.2 (and previously on CM10.1). I never had issues with previous version of Gmaps on CM.
The new version of Maps works fine except when i close the app and leave it in background tasks. If it runs in background and I try to use it in foreground again, the map starts blinking very fast. I can access all the buttons of the interface but I cannot make the map move, zoom or anything. Sometime the app does a force close and a pop-up window tells me than an error occured. In order to use it again, I need to close the app and close it also from the multitasking.
After doing that, it works fine again.
Anyone has this issue ?
Thanks

i get this on v20b too
It happens on V20a and other devices too. It's probably a problem with the new update.

We just have to wait
Thanks for your answers. Seems that the issue concerns quite many devices so the best thing to do is to wait for an update.
Same problem here, on stock v20a, btw hate new maps update

Good morning all.
I'm running Flinny's cm10.1 b22 on my DesireS. The last google Maps has several graphic glitches, and the screen keeps flicking most of the time. On developers section both "force rendering gpu" and "disable overlay HW" are NOT checked. Any suggestion, please? Thank you

I did an update a day ago (I'm in France) and my graphic problems have been solved. Maybe this update will be deployed in your country in the next hours/days
