So, I was on Kitkat for 2 weeks, volume levels on headphones were about 20% higher than on MM... I like using MM more than kk though, is there any way to increase the headphones volume? Even my old S4 mini is 30% louder than my Z3 compact?
Maybe a mod i haven't found could do the job? Any answer would be appreciated, thanks!
Edit: I've tried Meli Project, but it's still too quite compared to stock KK...
I'd really love 6.0.1 with 4.4's sound output power!
Up only once, since I updated my OP
Strange I've found KK and LP both too soft. Now on MM it's loud enough. I've been only on stock unbranded D5833 Australian roms.
KK and LP I used androplus kernel with it's fauxsound for analog volume gain. MM has elitekernel with fauxsound.
I'm not a fan of other sound mods that modify the sound arbitrarily. Even upping the volume by mixerpaths can cause digital gain rather than analog.

I'm on locked bootloader! Tried Meli Mod but i didn't like it at all...all i want is to increase the volume levels on my MM and make it sound like KK again! Is there any solution for the locked bootloader?!

modify the mixerpaths file. Plenty of info around as well as premodded files.
You could try the .291 Australian stock 5833 to see if it works like mine. Apparently only some LTE frequencies won't work. Not sure, just a quick search. If it works perhaps there's a 5803 that's similar. I have tried 5803 briefly on concept ok.
Or you can unlock. Backup drm first and you're set. Restore drm functions is built into elitekernel so you don't miss anything really.

Searched about modifying, found that mixer_paths.xml, but there's another mixer_paths_auxpcm.xml and I don't know which one is the file I should play with!

Hello, I have an Xperia Z for like 3 weeks now, and i was wondering if this was normal, the sound of my Xperia Z is not that high, I can hear it, but not as much as i thought it would be, I mean through speakers by the way, not through Headset, Also Yes: i have already raised above safe volume but still it is not very loud...
And no, i am really not an that much asking person, but this is really not normal i think, is this an common problem?
I had an Xperia Arc before the Z by the way, So i am used to the sound level of Xperia Arc
PS: I am new, Hello! this is my first post!
PPS: I live in The Netherlands so i dont know if there is any difference between Sound levels per country, so you know

no the speaker is ****ty, unless you unlock your bootloader and install doom kernel to raise the volume to a decent level.
Go into dev section and install purest under by zero, it is one Hugh problem with XZ but after you install it you will have to turn volume down

In my experience so far using poweramp, the volume is quite high, i will admit using the stock walkman app isnt as loud. btw unlocking your bootloader in order to install CM will break your camera.

Turned off the equalizer in poweramp and its still fairly good to be honest with you, turned off bass and treble in poweramp aswell, volume level was decent. i dont touch preamp, it distorts the sound too much for my liking. one thing i will mention is that i run a modified stock rom, the developer of the rom has included a mod which increases the headphone and external speaker volume, that may attribute why i get good volume levels and i am using some decent earphones too

here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481248 , make sure you read the instructions carefully.
Now i'm very disappointed of Xperia V sound for listening music because when i played with Walkman Player, sound are not stable. When i taste with Clear Bass +8 or +10, sound output is low volume with not stable. Sometime sound volume was increase level but sometime decrease with not stable for listening. Original Walkman Player 4.1.2 on Xperia V is very lousy with not look like My Old Xperia Neo. Why ???? When i used Sony Ericssion Xperia Neo, Everythings r very good & taste with Clear Bass +8db or +10db, sound
is very good taste for feeling. Now i changed Neo to Xperia V, very disappointed for listening for songs of music. And then cannot use Xperia Neo headphone on Xperia V.
How can i do Xperia Neo sound quality on Xperia V??? I don't like sound for listen my new Xperia V.

I have the V, too.
If you give so much bass to the sound, it is no wonder the system will try best to limit the volume for preventing damage to the tiny speaker, the headphone or your ears. Especially in conjunction with a cheap headphone that might be quite annoying, yep. If you like bass then buy headphones that deliver bass without the need for pumping it up artificially.
Thanks Bro! do u know how to stop limit volume for preventing damage to the tiny speaker?? i don't want to need limit the volume for clear bass.
It's depend on limit from system or headphone bro?? i like more my old xperia neo headphone but V is not support for Neo.
Thanks

Acid Audio: Good all-in-one-package. Very popular. But some say, it's a little unstable. (And I'm not quite sure if this one worked for me )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177709
Viper Audio: Lots of settings, but more a convoler. Some say it sounds a little unnatural, others love it.
Btw I recommend xHiFi version, it's better imo. ^^
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
PureXAudio: Clearest sound of them all. Also has a great bass! Using this one myself.
Make sure to only flash the lite version, as the full one only supports Xperia Z!

It's the OEM earpiece, if you are using it.
By flashing this you'll get the ringtone/notifications coming from both speakers when somebody calls you, stereo speakers in-call if you switch to the loudspeaker and you will also get a slight headphones boost.
Let me know if you want to modify something else with the sound output on the Z2.
As always - proceed at your own risk.
This will boost EVERY OUTPUT on your Z2! Stereo speakers everywhere! 1.5 for .167 ONLY
Old stuff down there.
Download
Rebased on .167 fw files + boosted noise cancellation headphones in this version! Headphones boost might also boost in-call speaker a bit, no guarantees! Backup works now! xD
Z2 soundmod 1.4 with headphones boost with backup
Z2 soundmod 1.4 without headphones boost with backup
Z2 soundmod 1.4 backup restore
Rebased on .314 fw files
Z2 soundmod 1.3 with headphones boost with backup
Z2 soundmod 1.3 without headphones boost with backup
Z2 soundmod 1.3 backup restore
(1.2 is for .438 firmware)
Z2 soundmod 1.2 with headphones boost with backup
Z2 soundmod 1.2 without headphones boost with backup
Z2 soundmod 1.2 backup restore
(recommended up to .402 fw)
Z2 soundmod 1.0 with headphones boost without backup
Z2 soundmod 1.0 without headphones boost without backup
Z2 1.0 stock sound revert KK without backup
I forgot to mention - this mod works the same way as my Z1 mod - no quality loss whatsoever.
To come:
Speaker boost
Bluetooth boost
What else should I do? Let me know!
I forgot to mention about @DennisDD78 - He's the man that send me the files I needed. This thread wouldn't be here if he wouldn't do that! Thanks man!
Thanks @gork1975 for updated .438 files!
Thanks to @Monipeev for the latest .314 file!
Thanks to @adamdvd for .167 file!
You can find this mod here:

Now this is a mod we all need.
Wondering if both speakers are utilized while talking over the speakerphone? Currently it uses a single speaker.
Stupid question, do i have to be rooted to use this mod?

Nicely done man! Really appreciating it. Any chance that you could increase the general speaker output volume / quality?
Does this mod works with speaker boost mod provided in RomAur 2.1 rom?

Could you share the mod without headphone boost? For us user of Doomkernel, we can already do this at a kernel level (but not yet speaker boost).
Thanks in advance.

As title, I am wondering that which device give a better sound quality?
Does anyone have both of them and Can you give me some opinion about that?
Both will be awesome, when the right soundmod is installed.
Well, I do know that my XV's sound was quite disappointing when on stock JB 4.1.2. That was actually the reason why I finally decided to root this device.
If you plan on using your Xperia V on JB 4.3, the sound quality will be much better. There could still be some more bass imo, but it is definitely not bad.
And, about this WALKMAN thing.. I dont know. ^^
As I said, choose the device you like more, as both will sound awesome after installing certain mods. ^^
