Hello I'm having some issues getting LTE to work on my Nexus 6 running BenzoRom.
I am only able to get 3G, when I previously had LTE working for a very long time. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I tried clearing, dalvik cache, cache, restoring default APN settings, restarting my phone, flashing a new rom, putting in a different sim card (with LTE working) and nothing fixed the issue.
I'm guessing I should just flash stock rom but I'd rather not go through the hassle. I think it might be my APN settings since I vaguely remember messing with it but I restored back to default and LTE still did not show up.
What the heck happened?
Have you gone into the phone menu? If not, *#*#4636#*#* then select phone... And look at my screen shot; at the preferred network type and the turn off volte flag... Yours may say turn on. I reboot after selecting the network and turning on the volte flag
Then in settings/more/cellular networks there should be enhanced 4g/LTE mode, turn that on of it isn't already.
Ya, I'm a dope... Adding the screenshot I referenced.

Ok here's the deal. Upgraded to ICS 232 and all went pretty much flawless other than motoprint no longer works. All was good and I was in happy land. However with ICS was stuck in 4g mode all the time and was sucking my battery like a hungry vampire. So I went into phone info and changed to CDMA auto PRL . Locked me in 3g only. Was back in happy land, battery life good again. Well I wanted to use my 4g so I went in to turn it on and it kills all data. No 4g, no 3g not even evdo. When I reboot it always resets back to CDMA auto PRL only.
Any ideas short of factory reset?

Turn off phone, remove SIM, reboot without SIM. After it's on, turn it off again, re-insert SIM and restart it. Try toggling 4G with *#*#4636#*#*
This sometimes works, as does toggling airplane mode

Same problem for me. I have tried toggling airplane mode, tried toggling wifi, rebooting, simply cannot get the phone out of cdma only (prl) mode.if anyone has experience in fixing this, it would be greatly appreciated! I even went though VZW's level 3 tech support and told then I have Ics on my bionic (which didn't void my warranty?) But they were at a loss...
SOLVED

you cannot switch back to 4g (LTE/CDMA/EvDo) if you have "Data roaming" enabled. Uncheck the data roaming box and try it again. Worked for me. :good:
Had this happen to me when I tried to enable Juice Defender's AOSP helper on the official ICS (though I had to update manually using HouseofBionic's method). It dropped me to 3G only, and the "preferred network" setting is grayed out, but showing LTE/CDMA. Clearly, the setting was inaccessible.
I uninstalled AOSP Helper, then disabled JuiceDefender.
Then I went into the Hidden Menu (that 4636 thing) and it says CDMA Auto (PRL). I tried to change it to CDMA/LTE/EVDO , then reboot, but it's still 3G. Went back into Hidden menu, it's back to CDMA Auto (PRL).
Went back in, change it again to CDMA/LTE/EVDO, but this time there's a "refresh" button below that, to update the IMSC I think. I hit that.
Reboot phone, now I have no 3G
Went to settings / data usage to toggle data, nothing.
Went to airplane mode, out, and voila, 4G/LTE.
Not sure which one of those actually forced the update, but it worked, so if someone else had the same problem, try that.
I have a fully up-to-date Developer Edition, stock ROM, unlocked bootloader + root, with XPosed, on AT&T. I've had this problem a number of times over the past few weeks: LTE icon will be on as if it's connected, About Phone shows that mobile data is connected with a strong signal, but zero data up or down will transmit. If I go to the quick settings tiles, the 4G/LTE tile will be orange instead of blue or white. Apps that require a data connection will suddenly be unable to function. Every time this has happened, I've been in strong 4G/LTE areas and my wife's non-DE Moto X has had strong signal with no problems.
Rebooting doesn't work, toggling airplane mode doesn't work, rebooting to recovery + wiping cache doesn't work. The only thing that works (and it has worked every time) is to reboot to recovery and then wipe cache + Dalvik cache. Booting up after wiping, the orange 4G/LTE quick settings tile is back to white and all apps that require a data connection suddenly work again.
I don't know if it's important, but every time this has happened I've been in neighboring states, it has not happened yet in my home area. However, I've been in strong LTE areas when it's happened and the procedure above has always fixed it.
It's getting very frustrating, any ideas? Thanks in advance...
YOU apn settings file may be jacked. You can rest them to default. If you go to the mobile networks setting and under access point names. Just choose reset to default in the menu choice

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll try that next time this happens
I've had this problem across multiple roms. My phone will only transfer data on LTE, when I am in an area that does not have LTE coverage, my phone does not automatically downstep to 3g. It just loses data, and shows an exclamation over the signal meter. HOWEVER, if I go into cellular settings, and manually set 3g CDMA it will connect to 3g. All speeds seem normal LTE 15-30mbps, 3g 1-3mbps. I have no idea why it doesnt downstep to 3g on it's own. It's like it's stuck on LTE only. Any idea how to rectify this?
I posted this in the forum for my ROM just to see if anyone knew anything. Someone suggested I try a ##72786# reset while on Sense, and if that fails, try ##786# reset. I've done both of those with no success.
I just tried wiping my device again and starting over doing the hands free activation. Still not working. Anyone seen this?
*#*#4636#*#* choose phone info , then scroll down you will see a drop down list which you can choose from. I think the option you should be choosing is "LTE, CDMA" or the "CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto" , you can play around with other options as it's safe and reversible (avoid WCDMA options they will drop signal).
Also if you are using stock rom try updating prl from Settings > System Updates.

Thank you! I wiped and reflashed everything with a sense based rom a couple days ago. I just verified this setting, and it is set to "CDMA+LET/EvDo Auto" I'm hoping that the issue is resolved. I wont know until i'm in an area where i lose LTE. Thanks for your help.
I enabled advanced calling to my account, when I went to the hidden menu i tapped on volte provisioning, turned the radio off and back on and the provisioning didn't change. Did some reboots, tried again and still can't turn on the provisioning. I also waited a few days to see if the problem would fix itself somehow.
Rooted 6.0
Any other ideas to get this working?
What makes you think it's not working? How are you testing? If you bought from Verizon it should have come with it on.
For the hidden menu make sure it says "turn off VoLTE". If it says "turn on VoLTE" that means it's currently off and you need to press the button to turn it on, and the toggle the radio or reboot.

I had to do this too. I just went into that hidden menu, turned on provisioning, reboot, then went to settings > more > cellular networks and made sure enhanced 4G LTE mode was turned on. Turning the provisioning on just makes the setting appear or disappear in your settings. I hope this bit of clarification helps.
After realizing that call dropping connections issues with my Pixel 5 were related to some radio issue that caused my phone to be stuck in the CDMA mode, I reset the connections and all was fine again. Phone was regularly switching between LTE and 5G and the voice network type remained in LTE mode. Prior to doing the reset, no rebooting or SIM swapping would cause the phone to get "unstuck" from CDMA mode.
So, now I have been watching the SIM card status and since I work in an area of really poor coverage, my phone does go into CDMA mode sometimes while at work. What I did notice, was if the phone was in CDMA when I left my job and traveled into a normal LTE service area, the phone remained in CDMA mode until I reboot the phone, and then it goes back into the normal LTE mode.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior? What behind the scenes app or process controls the switching of the voice network type? Any insight would be appreciated.
There is a network user built into the android kernel
but In settings Network and connections
Look for prefer 5G.... That should help your issue a bit
Dont use developer option aggressive wifi over cellular handover "keep it off"
Or there may be a software update that patches it

Not seeing a developer option about aggressive wifi over cellular handover. Only seeing a "mobile data always active" whcih says "Always keep mobile data active even when wifi is active for fast network switching", which is toggled on.
