Same here. A new wakelock appeared called diagnostics.client.wakelock (found under android system). it appears that at&t has reinstated that carrier iq rootkit/spyware nonsense and it is draining our batteries. There doesn't appear to be anyway to disable it without root so looks like we are stuck with it.

Has anyone had success with addressing this wakelock? I'm still seeing significant stay awake times from this, and I haven't been able to find what to disable.

yes, there is a way. take a look at this thread below for stopping carrier iq. you won't need root.

I just got the new update an hour ago and wanted to share my thoughts because I know there's still a lot of people wondering what it fixes. So far I've noticed:
- Phone in general feels much much quicker.
- gallery no longer lags.
- switching from wifi to 4g o longer lags the phone
- camera is improved. Still slight shutter delay but I'm thinking it must jus be how it works since it's taking such high quality pics.
-updating apps in the play store no longer makes the phone lag.
-one of my favorite things is the home button response speed is really fast now(yes svoice home button is disabled) I noticed the home button used to lag sometimes. Much faster now.
- I noticed some buttons in the camera and gallery are different and have some extras. Haven't had much of a look yet.
-it appears all my apps are on the SD card now.
I can't comment on battery life or anything else yet but I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

I'm slightly confused. You're posting in the Sprint S4 forums but you're tagline says sent from Verizon S4.
While reading your posts earlier I was hoping you weren't applying Sprint updates to a Verizon phone.
But to stay on topic thanks for the feedback. I'm still in process of updating.

Nope. Took me like 2 hours to.download the MDL tar to go to stock unrooted then flashed update zip.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
For me, I still see and feel the occasional lag. But then, my reference point was the rooted MDL with the ktoonsez kernel and the Crossbreeder mod. . I dont even remember what the stock MDC & MDL setups felt like.
I don't like that it locked up something so that triangle away doesn't work anymore and flashing chainfire's root through PC Odin causes the system counter to read custom. Hopefully those issues will get fixed. I want to say battery life is better but I haven't had enough time with it to get a definitive answer. Then again, after rooting, I froze a $hit ton of bloat with titanium backup as usual.

I've heard of lots of issues though.
The camera could break
Boot loops

a "modified system" pop-up
Those are just things that I read about.
On mdL my phone would be slightly warm while charging. Upgraded to mf9 and the phone gets real hot while charging.

Warmth is normal during charging, but if it is almost too hot to hold there is a problem. I'm on MDL and other than slight warmth during charging my phone NEVER heats up. My S3 would get hot/warm even with light usage but my S4 never does.

Mine is considerably worse now. I went into pizza hut tonight with 100% battery. We were in there like an hour and a half and when I checked my phone when leaving it was at 88%. It was in my pocket the entire time.
As I'm typing this I'm at 64% with 4hrs and 3 minutes of very light usage. 1 hr of screen on time...

I have never had any issues with my phones having battery struggle and this is my 5th android phone. That is why I posted the question because it was very bizarre for me not to have great battery life. By "breathing" do you mean the screen fading in and out constantly when there are notifications pending?
Posted about it here to see if it was normal or not, because I don't remember it from the first two days I had the phone, but noticed it this morning.

Yep that what the breathing is exactly. It supposed to reduce the need to unlock the phone to check for social media/email updates.

Try clearing data and cache and see if it makes a difference. Maybe something is stuck in there. I also do not use any of that floating stuff just the old school notification method.
Ranks high for me as well but really . . in standby I'm getting around 1% or less of drain per hour so I'm not worried about it.

I don't like that all notifications are combined now. It's very irritating. The phone is also much laggier than before I've noticed. Charges slower. The faulty note 7 was too lazy for a $850 device to begin with, but I hoped they'd fix it. I really don't like the green battery either, but that's not a big deal really.

I updated V1 because I have a V2 on order and had nothing to lose. Since it's the same hardware sans battery, I wanted to see what the update would do.
It was indeed quite laggy until I ran the device maintenance app and rebooted. It seems to be smoother now than before. I do, however, prefer the previous notification pull down.
Has anyone noticed a change in their status notifications?
On my original Note 7 notifications were not "grouped" if I had multiples from the same app (Facebook). Now I have to tap on the group to get them to expand.
I have noticed similar behavior for SMS messages. I no longer get a message preview and I do not have the option to reply from status bar..
I agree!

I received my replacement last night and there is definitely a lag, but nothing like the POS HTC Desire they gave me as a loaner and after charging on the wireless charger all night, it was only at 76%. I also cannot for the life of me find where I can change the alarm ringtone now (the settings does not have that option any longer) which is I why I came here. I did notice some interesting additions though.
