Hi everyone,
Thank you in advance. I have been trying to use my Note 4 as the ultimate media device with all my music library (close to 1TB). So I read this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/half-terabyte-phone-tank-phone-550gb-t2987826) and thought it was worth a try. But I have been trying to make my Note 4 read my Kingston 512GB SD card for about 4 hours now, and nothings seems to be solving the problem.
The setup is like the following: SD card --> SD to microSD adaptor --> Note 4. I confirmed that the adaptor is working fine with Sandisk 128GB SD card, which gets mounted properly by Note 4. But when I put a 512GB SD card in it, it just shows that it's "corrupted" and asks to format it, which goes on again in saying that it's "corrupted." I have two Kingston 512GB SD cards, so I used chkdsk to fix if there's any problem with them (which I don't think is the problem, it works fine on my Canon DSLR, and Windows). So I think the problem lies with the phone.
I tried 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 stock, and few roms (CMRemix, CM12.1, TEXOdus, Maximum OvrDriVE 6.0.1) with few different kernels (by freeza and emotroid). BUT none of them worked...
Does anyone know of any working rom or kernel that will support 512GB SD card?
*Problem Solved* Thank you!
Out of curiosity, how did you solved the problem? Was it a bad card?

No, for some reason, my Note 4 didn't read 512 GB SD cards formatted in exFAT and NTFS properly. So I tried it with FAT32, and it works fine now (even though it has 4GB file size limit that I don't really mind).

I have bought Sandisk microSDXC 64GB class 10 UHS1. When I put it in my computer using USB2.0 Kingston Mobile Reader it could not recognise it. I removed it and I placed it in my Galaxy Note. I went into clockworkmod 6.19 (Non Touch) and I partitioned the card with 2GB or 4GB (I do not remember exactly!!!) and Swap size 256k. When my phone restarted, the phone did not recognize the card. Therefore, I went through the internet to find a solution. I found the program "EaseUS Partition Master 9.1.1 Home Edition" and reformatted the card with FAT32 and cluster size 32KB. When it finally finished, it gave me the size 27.46GB!! I reformatted through SD Formatter 3.0 hoping that the partition used through Clockworkmod messed up the actual size of the card. I successfully re-formatted the card, however the size remained the same. I know that the size of a microSDHC card 32GB is around 29GB, therefore it does not explain size 27.46GB.
My question now, if there is an answer!!! Is the card faulty or did Clockworkmod messed with the card?
Please advise if possible!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, because I think this a very strange story!

I think that the CWM messed up with the SD partition. Try to format in Windows ad tell me the results.
if I'm correct 32gb is the max for the n7000. Note II does up to 64gb
Nope. I have the same card and it shows me all of the space(about 59gb) and i juat put it in the phone.

Could be the reason OR the Card Reader may not be compatible with SDXC...
I got a Transcent dual (micro and standard Card reader) which works fine while some others incompatible.
Once he got the good card reader, he should try to format first the SDXC as exFat (on Windows 7) to be sure he got 64GB, then to get it work on the G-Note is another story...
I had to copy some files (any kind) on the card, then when plugged on the G-Note, the system detect an issue and propose to format the card (watch carefully at the messages)... When done, all is good !

Thank you for your answers! I have no solution, but I sent the card for a replacement and Im getting a Sandisk USB 3.0 Reader, so as soon as check I will inform with the results!
Droid bionic has a max 32 gb external sdcard limitation. is this a hardware or software limitation?
thinking if it was software, could I create 2 partitions on 64gb card and mount extra partition in vold.fstab as usb1 or sdcard-ext2 or something?
thanks.

I do not know if this helps or not but my Samsung Precedent is supposed to have a 16gb SDcard limitation but I have a 32gb card in it and it reads it as such. AlI I can say is stick the card in and see what happens. Once I get my Bionic up and running I plan on moving the card to from phone to phone. Good Luck and hope it works.
I've been using a 64 GB card (SanDisk Extreme SDXC) with no problems.

Is the OS JellyBean?
is the card formatted exfat or fat32?
Is it class 6 or class 10?
thanks.
Note: reason I'm asking is I have been reading problems with class 10 micros SD drawing too much power and exfat not being recognized with usb thumb drives and I wasn't sure if that carried over to the Micro sd card(for those with a y cable, an OTG cable, and powered hub)
Software problem only, reformat the card as fat32, your phone will ask to do this, and it will work fine.
Been using my sandisk 64gb card for a year without issue in my Droid 3 and now on my Bionic.

I broke down and bought a sandisk 64gb micro sdxc
picked up a sandisk 64gb sdxc class 10 from best buy for $35 yesterday.\
It would not read in my bionic because it is formatted exfat file system. Android no like. ext2 or fat32 is preferred if your a windows user def fat32.. problem with formatting anything that large using windows is you need utils found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773735
that diddn't work for me so I used easeus partition manager to delete partition on card and create a primary (not extended) partition that was unformatted. I then used the fat32format.exe from the link above to format the card all of which was done in windows xp
working now.
I'm sure there are some things here that are not neccessary but this is what worked for me after a few failed attempts.
do not copy files form your old card until you put a couple files on the new card and test it. you will just end up wasting your time when it doesn't work and you have to reformat it again or repartition it again and copy..... again. I copied 29g to the card like 3 times. lol.
my entire music collection will be with me at all times now!
64gb MicroSDXC is 30$ on Amazon (US).
I got one and it is working flawlessly in my bionic. I was running CM11 at the time, but have jumped a couple of ROMs since then.
I copied all files off of my old card to PC (using the card slot), formatted the new card IN MY PHONE, then copied the files on to the new cardPure success. No errors or anything.
Just my experience though! Bionic isn't supposed to handle 64gb cards, but mine did just fine.
64 megabyte SD card
I also purchased a 64 megabyte SD for my bionic and it works great.
Hallo everybody ,
i bought a 64 GB SD Card for my S3 LTE, Im currently on PAC Rom´s nightly (JB 4.4.2) and everything works fine.
My 16 GB Sd works without any Problems, also did my 8 GB one´s
If i insert my 64 Card it´s also working ok, i can copy paste anything to it and use the moved data.
BUT.
Here´s the point.
If i Restart the Phone or remount the Card it shows up "preparing sd card" and nothing happens.
i thought it may take a little bit longer but 2 day´s should be more than enought
Tried it several times, only way to use it again is to format it.
So if there is data on it, it doesn´t work, empty everything is fine.
Any suggestions ?
May be a littlebit crashy english but im from germany and in a Hurry right now hope you understand everything

Ok, first: Are you sure it's a 64 gb one ? Test it.
Second, how and where are you formating it ?
Had the same problem with my 32GB* micro SD card on my S3 I9305 LTE, it kept saying preparing SD card, it was constantly mounting and unmounting. It was due to the fact the the 32GB card was a Chinese counterfeit. It says 32GB on both the card and in settings>storage, but when tested using H2W, it was only 4GB. I bought an original Samsung 64GB Micro SD and the problem was resolved. Almost all the cheap memory card found on eBay are counterfeit. Buy your card at an official distributor of the brand. don't be tempted by the cheap ones on eBay.
It's a 64 gb card, I formatted it with paragon and it worked, it also said 64gb, I formatted it into exfat, ntfs, fat, and fat32 neither worked :/
Any solutions?
Try on a computer if you can actually store 64GB of data on the card, and then read it back successfully. H2testw is the best way to do this.

Same here with different ROMs and a Sandisk 64GB (real ) -...
Tested all kind of ROMs and kernels to no avail
Gave up and live with 32GB since ....
According to the official information for the Lenovo K3 Note it only supports MicroSD cards upto 32 GB. I tried my Kingston 64 GB card and it doesn't work but I am hearing that people have gotten 64 GB cards to function in their phones.
Can anyone confirm one way or another whether 64GB cards can work in this phone? If so are they specific makes / models?
Many thanks in advance.
Try formatting the SDcard in FAT32, 64GB/128GB uses the ExFat format, that's why your K3 note won't see it, this SoC don't support exFat. When you put your Sd in the phone it won't offer a formatation to work?
It didn't appear to offer any formatting options but I will give it another go.

I had to format mine on a laptop before the phone recognised it
Well it seems like good news. I put the card into an SD card adapter and then into the PC. It loaded some drivers and recognised the thing. I then formatted it using NTFS and reinstalled it on the phone. This time the phone recognised it as either an empty card or a card that needed formatting so I re-formatted it once more and it registers as a card with 58 Gb free. Yippee!!!
Currently copying the 32 Gb card onto the new one using my PC. Hopefully it will go well and then I'll copy some more stuff over just to see that it will genuinely go over the 32 Gb limit.
So far....so good
Hi,
Can you please post the further testing of 64GB Card. I am planning to buy 64GB card Class 10 SDHC please help me with your review

Well I have been using the card for the last month and all fine. I switched to limoncelo this morning and the card is still recognised with no problems. For reference this is a Kingston 10X 64 GB card. I don't know if other cards might be problematic or not. All I can say is that this is a safe option.
Limoncello nice too....
I am using Sandisk 64GB class10 UHS-1 card directly on the phone, from the day I got the phone, without any issues...
if you go to mediatek "engineer mode"> 3d tab "hardware testing> "IO" >"MSDC" >"MSDC SD3.0 TEST
There are various options such as "sd3 mode: sdhc highspeed, uhs sd12 etc etc.
Does anyone have more information on what these options mean and if they can bring any change in sd card recognition?
just wanted to share i had a sandisk transcend class 10 32 gb, 2 weeks ago i got my chinese 512 gb class10 sdhc as for test purpose for 9$ of ebay. in benchmarks it scores better.
however all works, currently i am on the phoenix rom with exfat file system support.
i just installed my 64gb sd card, and let the phone format it as portable sd card. now i have 59G ! this is under 1606 Cuoco92 custom rom.
Anyone else get any errors when formatting their SD Card? I have a Samsung 64GB
I just bought a brand new SanDisk 64 GB microSD card from Costco. It works fine in Note 4. But when I put it in Tab S2, under storage it says ready but does not show any storage information. Checked various programs to see if the card is mounted but it does not get mounted.
Anyone else had this issue before? I have a feeling this could be a Marshmallow issue.

Interesting, I have both an N4 and a T713. They both have SanDisk 64 gb ultras and work fine.
I assume you have had a working SD card in the S2 previously...

The new SanDisk 64 GB card works in my Note 4 but it is not mounting in Tab S2. Still cannot figure out why it is not mounting.
