Definitely a niche category, but as I just got my 5x, I thought I'd try it out. This setup works. That's my original BobjGear usb ethernet adapter. It's worked with everything I've tried.

I didn't grab the speed test screen shot until after I disconnected the ethernet, but it's legit.

Speedtest with WiFi?
No, as I explained, I took the screenshot of the speed test after I disconnected the Ethernet (which is why Wi-Fi icon is displayed). What the screen test shows is the wired connection.

help me, too. i have the same problem :-(
I'm sure the other 50 threads on this would have been helpful.
Check the mini usb port on the phone and verify that nothing is bent or broken.
Also try other cords.
I bought one of these from fleebay and it works a treat with ANY charger I plug into it.

How can I improve the quality of my hot spot? I have wifi signal for a time and then it is gone. I travel all over the country, and allot of the time I am in areas with no wifi where I am staying. I could really use some help with this. I just got the Samsung epic touch so I could have the router with me and not be lost like I am now.
So I will not get an answer to this??
Hotspot as in your phone as a hotspot or a router/hotspot? Also don't walk away too far from it.
If as in router then try a windsurfer

An external USB wireless adapter with an antenna will probably give you about 35% better reception. Look for a bulky device with the largest antenna.
Something like this:

you heard me, it's a mouse/keyboard combo for a pc but the catch is...wait for it.. it works for our phone! and it's wireless!
this basically enables us to use it like a tv box over airplay and a microusb-usb adapter

Pros:
plug and play(pc and android)
small, wireless
good range(works across a room)
tiny mouse
logitech like build quality
tiny dongle(smaller than the canadian quarter)
cons:
no built in battery
to get it working, just connect the dongle to a microusb-usb adapter and it'll work perfectly(im running kitkat 4.4, if anyone else runs a different version and its not working, please report it here)
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest
Anyone heard about this one ?
I'm looking for something that will charge my note 3 and nexus 10 same time and it's 4.2A... this one seems to solve a previous problem I had , the round top part that was falling apart , here all the body is one piece .

not too expensive here on Amazon ..

I hardwired a USB hub in my glovebox then I connected my raspberry pi to it then it to my dvd indash. Serves great as not only a charger for up to 10 devices but makes a good data doc too.
Was nice keeping my cig lighter clear and clean look. But that looks pretty good for what you're trying to accomplish

thanks all
This cable that you have on image, is typical microUSB/MiniUSB video cable for older cameras, not phones. I think I have somewhere such cable that I got with old camera.
Also I dont know any mobile device that send analog signal via such cable, only cameras, chinese portable gamestations, some mp4 players and few other devices, but not phones that use digital MHL/microHMDI standard
thanks a lot
