how you fix DRM keys ?
Are you using the DRM restore from Z5 ?
This won't work as there are many missing files (at least in TWRP).
Do you really know what you are doing in init.recovery.qcom.rc?

your kernel & DRM-Fix can work .
Root is work, but su of SupeSU can not update!
Then TWRP can't touch any button, not work.

Thanks for trying it. TWRP that i used was from X Perf, so to make it works i will need XZ sources...
I get one bug, the root just backup & restore by titanium backup app, but it can not modify /system
I can not change devices ID

Sorry, i dont understand what u said? Spammer? or just noob?
Can it work (at least parts which are working) on SingleSIM version?
I don't own XZ and have no possibility to check it myself, but anyone tried if TWRP works using mouse? That way You would know if Xp build is wrong for XZ as a whole or just touchscreen is need to be replaced.
I will shortly update this kernel to .250 and try to fix several bugs
In the mean time, stay tuned!
We are waiting to unlock bootloader, thank you for your effort.
What about all the DRM-related features such as Optical Image stabitilzation, bravia engine, x-reality, camera performance in low light conditions, are they restored using your kernel ?
Any update on this ?
Check AndroPlus kernel.
we can use this android 7.0 ?
@woxiwox
No. Check AndroPlus which supports 7.0 and 7.1.1.
Does this ROM work with the Single Sim Variant as well please?

Here is the stock kernel from the latest 32.0.A.6.200 5.1.1 firmware with TWRP 3.0.0-0
SONY RIC and dm-verity disabled so you can root your phone and modify the system partition.
Flash the boot.img with fastboot by turning your phone off and holding volume up whilst plugging it in to your computer, you will see the led light up. If the drivers and adb/fastboot are installed properly it will show up under devices. If you just unlocked your bootloader then it is set up properly, but just to be sure type this-
Code:
fastboot devices
If it shows up properly, flash the kernel.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you are already rooted flash this in recovery 32.0.A.6.200_TWRPv3.0.0-0.zip
After flashing press volume up to boot into TWRP, or volume down to boot in to your current recovery.
Downloads-
boot.img
32.0.A.6.200_TWRPv3.0.0-0.zip
Thanks to @tobias.waldvogel for making this much easier.
Also @AndroPlus for TWRP v3.0.0-0
Tip-
For people that have just unlocked their bootloader and want to root their device the easiest way, flash the kernel with fastboot like I said before and turn off your phone by unplugging it.
Press volume up when booting, the led will turn blue, it will go red and boot into TWRP when pressing it, now download this on your computer SuperSU v2.65
Connect your phone and transfer the file over via mtp in TWRP, now flash it and you have rooted your phone safely and fast.
Somebody test it ?

For the moment, it's fine.
I'm testing androplus kernels for more than one year (on the Z2 before) and although I appreciate his work, I'm tired of random reboots... Stock kernel is less fun for sure
@nreuge Thanks for the testing. Wondering what is the lost comparing with stock kernel to Android Plus one? Seem the tweak can be done with root in the OS anyway...

No, there are things at the kernel level that you can't do just tweaking android, e.g. additional CPU governors, hotplugs, thermal managements, etc...
But are these things really a gain if the device stability is affected?...
For the moment, I'm happy with this stock kernel
thank you very much
noob question :
I'm not familiar with Sony's this Z5 is my first .. after flashing this kernel ,will I get OTA updates ? because I'm waiting for the 6.0

I am sharing the progress of my work, so you can help make our devices working seamlessly with root
Android Preview N sources have been published so I built a kernel from them
Modifications:
Removed dm_verity (zImage and ramdisk dependencies)
Built with Permissive selinux (command line)
Status N preview 2:
root working
mount RW working
although packaged as selinux permissive is still enforcing what causes some problems like not recognition SIM card, reboots and startup delays.
in some tests by adding only sepolicy patch he presented this problem
How to install:
flash recovery FOTA partition thanks to @shoey63
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
make full backup in recovery to return later
flash my kernel (rename to boot.img)
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
flash @Chainfire SuperSU 2.71 via TWRP
Note:
Android N Preview use new bootloader!

Guys, please follow instructions EXACTLY.
- Use flashtool to flash This FTF fromThis thread
- Fastboot a recovery image. (There is one in the OP, and it works)
- Reboot to recovery mode in the N Preview 3 bootloader menu using buttons.
- Install SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip
- Let the device boot. You can re-enter recovery using a reboot app.
Also please note:
- Do NOT attempt to flash a "system root" SuperSu zip. I Have tried and the phone wont fully boot.
- Do NOT flash byeselinux, you will get a kernel panic, and end up back in recovery. (Same goes for RecRoot)
- Do NOT expect all apps working on LP or MM to work properly on N-Preview.
- Do NOT use F-Droid Adaway, use the one from This thread, and flash the AdAway_systemless_hosts_v2.zip from the that threads OP before installing the app.

First of all, good work getting the repo up and fixing the build errors so that we can compile the kernel.:good:
We are faced with two main issues.
1/ - Chainfire's systemless root patches the sepolicy in the ramdisk, and in the process borks recognition of the sim card and causes reboots.
This doesn't occur on Nexus devices which he supports, so it is unlikely he will look at it for the z3 N preview.
2/ - If we try to bypass the need to patch the sepolicy, we need system root. This requires the kernel to be set to permissive.
However, trying to set it in the kernel or the command line doesn't work, because the /init binary sets it back to enforcing during boot.
So we need a hacked init binary or an update to Supersu.
Or something else? Any ideas?

I'm very interested in that method of patching the kernel, in particular the way a TA backup can be incorporated to restore full functionality of the DRM keys. However, we need to wait for Chainfire to release a new version to accommodate Sony's sepolicy (and maybe /init?) for N preview. 2.71 is not working properly as stated above.
This is a development thread. Posts just saying "I have just updated" or "how do i update to this" do not belong here.

You need to flash SuperSu as soon as you flashed the Recovery I guess, otherwise it will check for original recovery, "sees" that something has been altered and will give out the corrupted device message. It does this on Preview 2 and older SuperSU versions as well so make sure you're up to date.
Reflash original Preview 3 with Flashtool (keep your /data, unckeck wipe /data if you want to) and then flash a recovery through fast boot, then instantly boot the phone out of the fast boot mode into the recovery mode (TWRP), copy the SuperSU zip onto the device and flash it.

If you are getting a black screen after flashing the kernel, just force restart the device. Then the device will boot fine.
Could a version of this be build with the device name "scorpion"? It won't let me install this ROM since the device name doesn't match (it seems to be empty in this image whereas that ROM requires it to be "scorpion").
Edit: nevermind, figured out I can modify the script in side the ROM to remove the check instead.
Thanks for a working TWRP for my old tablet

SGP612 boot.img
Hi,
I made a boot.img for the SGP612 [6.0.1] [23.5.A.1.291] unlocked BL.
Sony RIC disabled
TWRP 3.0.2
(DRM fix)
Root and Xposed is NOT included. I recommend flashing Magisk v12 later in TWRP and enable Magisk Core Only Mode and Magisk Hide in the settings. Then it will pass the SafetyNet test and you can use su.
To flash the boot.img, put your SGP612 into fastboot mode (Volume Up + connect USB) and then run:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you have a backup of your TA partition, before you unlocked, see the rootkernel thread by tobias.waldvogel, how the DRM fix works.
Thanks to codfx for give me the idea for a SGP612 counterpart and to tobias.waldvogel for his tool :good:
TeamWin Recovery Project 3.0.3
WARNING #1: Unlocking BL and flashing a custom recovery voids your warranty. Please make sure to contact your carrier/seller if your phone is still under warranty after unlocking the bootloader.
WARNING #2: Make sure you have enabled OEM unlock and unlocked bootloader before trying to flash this. How you can successful root and install TWRP will be described below.
WHAT IS TWRP?
Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
HOW-TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
Get bootloader Unlock code here (for more Information look in this thread)
Install minimal adb and fastboot
Plug in your phone and make sure all huawei drivers got installed
Enable developer options in settings as described above.
Enable OEM unlock, enable USB debugging (both in developer options)
Open the adb tool you installed recently
Type fastboot devices (now a device number should show up)
Type fastboot reboot-bootloader (your phone will now boot into bootloader, if not, you haven't set up drivers or adb/fastboot correctly)
This step will wipe all your data! Type:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(xx is for your unlock code)
Ones it's done type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Your phone will reboot and you have an unlocked bootloader!
You can now go on installing TWRP on your device
HOW-TO INSTALL
Make sure you enabled OEM unlock in settings, if you haven't please do that now by tipping 10 times on build number (to activate developer options), than open developer options and go to OEM unlock, enable it
Have an unlocked bootloader is required! (In my case, I called huawei and received the unlock code 12 hours later)
Download the TWRP recovery from the download section below
Make sure you got fastboot drivers installed (I will describe this below in how to unlock your bootloader)
Open the adb/fastboot application on your pc and go to the directory where your TWRP img file is downloaded
Boot your phone into download mode (First method: fastboot reboot-bootloader while connected to pc. Second method: power off your phone, hit power on and volume down until it boots to download mode)
Check again if there is written: unlocked phone!
If yes type now into your adb/fastboot terminal:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_huawei_generic_a53_YYYYMMDD.img
Type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Now boot into recovery by pressing: power+volume up+volume down at the same time
Enjoy twrp
HOW-TO ROOT
Backup, just in case
Have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed from above (take one from december)
We will use this root method: Phh's superuser
Download latest official phh superuser zip here.
Put the zip on your external sd card of your phone (since we can't access /data in twrp)
Boot into twrp and flash the downloaded file
Install latest Material phh apk: Release post
Now you are rooted, congrats!

Cheers xelfmade! Just wanted to ask if this is specifically for the nova or the nova plus? Or is it compatible with both models? Thanks!
Can we backup all partitions and restore them (with decrypted data off course)?
And does knock on screen to take screenshot work? Someone told it don't work anymore after root?

You can try it on the Nova plus and report me if it works or not. If it doesn't work write me a private message and I sent you the stock recovery.. ?

Not now, I'll upload a newer version were you can backup and restore all partitions..
I'm rooted and it just works. I think it's because he formatted /data for decrypt it.
good morning...can I also use SuperSU. Coz I would prefer that over Phh's superuser.
I assume that it won't make a difference, but I want to be sure!
Thx in advance

What should I try first to don't get this problems? Don't touch data while installing twrp and phhs su?
I'm on can-11 and believe my data is encrypted from original rom?!
And did you edit the config file in superuser. zip?
The linked one has following setting :
eng verity crypt
I cant access data or anything else in TWRP... I dont have an sd-card yet. is there no other way to install the superuser zip??

To get access on /data, you have to format it in the wipe menu.

No I don't.
So if we don't wipe the data partition we could read it like before after root? And is the data encrypted afterwards?
Sorry for so many questions [emoji56]

We can't read /data wether the phone is rooted or not..
The phone is encrypted as soon as you choose a locking method.

So I have to wipe it again, like it happened after unlocking the bootloader? Then I could plug it and copy the zip file on the internal storage to run it?
If u use the latest version, try the following steps:
-- First format /data
-- reboot the Recovery
-- copies the files from your pc to the internal storage

my mobile was rooted with some error but root work perfect and thx again. willing to soon see cyanogen roms

I'm not quite sure of that buddy.. Has someone tested it on the single sim version..
Extract and share the kernel.sin from the ftf file.. I'll modify it..

No different between F8332 and F8331 kernel or fota-kernel (recovery)... Only difference are system.*.sin cach.*.sin userspace.*.sin oem.*.sin
please give me some detail instruction to install it!
my Knowledge: backup TA -> unlock bootloader -> flash this kernel -> flash recover -> flash SuperSU -> done??
after that, if i want to roll back to stock, i must do that: push TA back to phone by recovery -> reflash stock rom by flashtool.??
is this right?
and one more question : is this kernel use for stock rom and all thing will work fine??

Are you on FW41 (android 7.1.1)?
If "YES" you must downgrade to MM rom and not patched "dirty-cow" vulnerable for backup TA partition (if you don't backed up later. If you have ta backup skip this step)
Then update to N 7.1.1
After update to 7.1.1:
1- unlock bootloader (backup data and internal sd, device wiped all data!)
2- go to "fastboot mode" (power off phone, when hold volume up plug your phone to pc, blue light led must be on)
3- flash that image for drm-fix and disable dm-verify with this code
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4- reboot phone complete
Code:
fastboot reboot
5- again power off and go to fastboot mode. And flash recovery now:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-***-kagura.img
fastboot reboot
6- now go to recovery and install supersu zip package.
If you want go to complete stock you need TA.img (save that several place in your PC and better save on cloud storage like google drive)
If you need, flash TA.img and flash FTF stock rom and phone back to theirs factory state.
** and for knowledge: this is not custom kernel!!!
This is custom boot.img. The kernel inside that file is completely stock. Only "ramdisk" patched for allow you to root your device and fix drm.
completery understand
