Does Mi5 support aptX HD 24-bit codec by Qualcomm? - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

So what about aptX? Anyone know if mi5 support it or if not. Is it going to be supported thanks to master chiefs from XDA?

AOSP doesn't support AVRCP 1.13 which is the version that introduced metadata support. Until it does, custom ROMs the devs have added it to are the only one's that'll display song/album/artist.
Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
This profile is designed to provide a standard interface to control TVs, Hi-fi equipment, etc. to allow a single remote control (or other device) to control all of the A/V equipment to which a user has access. It may be used in concert with A2DP or VDP.
It has the possibility for vendor-dependent extensions.
AVRCP has several versions with significantly increasing functionality:
1.0—Basic remote control commands (play/pause/stop, etc.)
1.3—all of 1.0 plus metadata and media-player state support The status of the music source (playing, stopped, etc.)
Metadata information on the track itself (artist, track name, etc.).
1.4—all of 1.0, 1.3, plus media browsing capabilities for multiple media players Browsing and manipulation of multiple players
Browsing of media metadata per media player, including a "Now Playing" list
Basic search capabilitieshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile

As far as I know, no n4 custom rom supports it until today. Google will most likely never update it, don't know what the heck they are thinking.
it's such an elementary feature. Can't believe it's not integrated....This really makes me mad.

What do you mean no custom ROM supports it?
I was waiting for someone to confirm if AVRCP 1.3 was going to be added in android 4.2.2 but now I'm planning on rooting and getting a ROM that does support this...
This is my most wanted bug fix for android 4.2.2, and I can't believe they missed it. Shame on Google.

I completely agree
Does anyone know of a stable mod that does have AVRCP 1.3?
I'm glad that I am not the only one^^
Please share this bug report as often as possible in other forums. Maybe if enough ppl will star this google will react - MAYBE^^
main reason
This was the main reason I was looking forward to the update...now, I'm sad. Guess I'm going to be forced to root now...anyone know when any of the ROMs will add this much needed feature?

That's all I was looking forward to also.
Its no wonder companies ignore their users when they needlessly and wrongly report bugs for something which is clearly not a bug.
If I was Google I'd ignore every single bug report which was actually reporting a missing feature.
For whatever reason, Google left it out, probably because its a niche requirement. It's not a bug.
thank god ur not google
maybe it's not the right category but at least I did something to point out that there's a problem and gave other ppl the chance to express their madness about this problem aswell.
And a niche? C'mon this is absolute standard nowadays and we can expect this from a 2012 smartphone when even my 2010 i9000 had it!

possible no-call-audio fix kernel, need testers!

hey everyone
After much hard work I *think* i have developed a unified kernel for all 920 variants including F / I / S / K / P AND T
It *should* fix the no call-audio bug
Please PM me if you want to test it out i dont have a T variant so can only rely on you guys and gals
I don't think I have seen anyone on the 920T complain about no audio in a call. Could be I am blind and lucky that it hasn't happened to me.

This is an issue if you flash an international rom and make a call.
I would help but I am leaving for school right now

I just did a Forehead slap, I knew about that thanks for setting me straight.
Sent yah a pm. Got 920F rom already on my SD
PM sent.
thanks for the replies folks.
as this is beta testing please do not post any feedback in here, send it straight to me via PMs
does this mean we (tmobile gs6) users can flash international roms and use your kernel to make the rom work 100%?
That's the idea. T-Mobile users will lose volte and Wi-Fi calling though
this should also work on the W8 Canadian variant right?
Hopefully this can be implemented on the edge variant as well if it's fixed. I want to try other roms so bad.

would love to see this when it is done and working, sad to say our limited access to roms at this point is stifled more so by not being able to get sound in calls when everything else within the rom seems to work fine with the int versions.
We've figured out exactly whats causing it. The question is can it be made universal. So far no. But we have some ideas still and another mind as well looking at it with us.

Ant+

Hi,
I'm not sure if the mi mix got an built in ant+ receiver, but if it does, mine isn't working...

When I bought my Mix, the website also said it had an FM antenna...I've read a lot of websites now that say it has one, and a lot that say that's incorrect and doesn't have it.
I do know on some other phones that the headphones serve as the antenna...maybe something to try?

Nope, that did not work. After my understanding this is an bult in chip that works with the bluetooth, but the phone is supposed to hav ANT+ support
I'm on EU rom so I was thinking that it might be the rom that didn't support it?
But I've tried flashing the stock rom with no luck, maybe it will work with an update

I thought RM3 never supported HDMI over usb-c. Are you saying it does in another rom/version?

So just curious, rm6 pro user here and I have this covert dock I got for my switch that supports hdmi out through USB c (how it works with switch) now, I got it to work ONCE on this old Sony TV I have (fixed it for the next resident that comes, I live in a vet shelter for now) but I'm curious about how to do it... I know it's supported bc I got it to work but I can't figure out how I did it now. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated thank you!

Question electronic image stabilization in 4k videos

Hi,
When the phone got released, I've heard that EIS was absent for 4k videos. Has it been updated since, or can we expect it to be in the near future? Or is the solution to use the GCam?
It would be a pretty important thing that could decide whether I buy this phone or not. Thanks a lot in advance

I don't think it will be available in future because of hardware limitation.
There's already a gcam mod with working EIS for 4k. Can't give the link, cause I tried so many and can't remember, which APK was the last I installed, but you should find it in Telegram Group of Redmi Note 10 Pro...
