Can someone smarter than me explain in detail how to update my Note 5 from the prerelesase 6.0 to the latest patch? My thread was moved by the moderator so let me be more clear. The prerelease Marshmallow update for the AT&T Note 5 (PE5) doesn't appear to allow me to update to the latest (PHA) which includes a bunch of addons like WiFi Calling and Advanced Messaging. Can someone give me detailed instructions on what I should do to avoid bricking? I realize I probably have to go back to some official build and then update through to PHA from there. Thanks in advance!

I just bought T Mobile G1 2 days ago, and I want to update it from 1.1 to 1.5
But I have different phone information from the tutorial that I read, so I'm still using 1.1 version.
This is the description:
Baseband version
62.33.20.08u_1.22.12.29
Kernel version
2.6.25-01843-gfea26b0
[email protected] #6
Build number
123099
I have no idea what RC number that I'm using.
Please Help mem I really want to update this phone to access some new application.
Thank you.
Are you rooted and in the US? If it is a stock US phone 1.5 should come OTA.
If you don't want to wait, see this: http://www.androidcentral.com/how-manually-install-android-15-cupcake-us-version

Nope, I'm at Germany. OTA?! What is that?! Sorry, I new at this.
Is it the process save?Because I'm afraid it is only for US or UK.
OTA = over the air. Basically your phone service provider will automatically send you the update in a few days.
However, I am not knowledgeable about Germany, and don't know what OS version is used there, how OTA updates work, and most of all whether or not that link is a US only version (99% sure it is - especially because the link says "US version").
Good luck finding help.
you would probably just be better off rooting and getting the newest ROM.
here is the information i found most useful for me when i first rooted.
here are the links to Cyanogen's stable & experimental roms, i've used both and i personally love the experimental version.
hope this helps.
Use THIS guide. It is based on the one linked by davidchill but it has pics, updated links, changed wording for better clarification, and a few steps added to avoid confusion. Also when you are done with that there is a program in post #2 that will walk you through partitioning and do all the math for you.

Cant find one. Is it carrier specific?

If you already took the November security update to LYZ28N, which is the November security update applied to Lollipop 5.1.1, you are already ahead of most everyone else. No one has even captured that OTA link. If you already applied the update, it is too late for you to capture it for the community. Any such link should be recorded in the reference thread in General where you have already posted.
As for an OTA link to update LYZ28N to Marshmallow, that does not exist yet as far was anyone knows. LYZ28N is the T-Mobile fork, and T-Mobile has not yet released Marshmallow.

I haven't installed the November OTA yet but I've got the message in my notification bar that it's been downloaded. Can I still "capture the link" or is it too late once it's been downloaded? If not, where can I find out how to do it?

I think you can still get the link unless you have performed the install step. (I actually have never done this myself.) The general instructions are in the OTA reference thread. If you succeed in finding the URL, you should post in in a comment on that thread.

Hello,
This morning I received a new Android update on my sprint lg g4. I have not yet installed it. Just wondering if anyone has any information about it. I am already on 6.0.
I have my apn settings pinned and don't want to lose it due to an update. I am not rooted.
Any information would be helpful. Anyone else receive a new update?
Thanks all, have a great day!
Bumping this thread.

Just got off phone with ATT support and per Samsung specialist Marshmellow will not be rolled out for the S5 until the end of the year.
MOD EDIT:
If you want to discuss the Marshmallow update or provide new information, there are a few existing discussions to choose from, so no need to start another.
THREAD CLOSED
Those people don't have any more clue about when it will be rolled out than anyone else.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
but some of us already got - unofficial - marshmallow 6.0.1 a.k.a PG3 for our G900A....
and if PG3 has a some problem..although we find out, i think we have no method going back PA6 or former version of lollipop 5.1.1...
I was able to go back from pg3 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 pa2 and it works get odin file there's four of them and it deffently works then your phone will update to the rest one by one in till the latest lollipop
Now two versions behind
Android released next OS. ATT Galaxy S5 now 2 versions behind. Per Tech spt too many bugs. Strange that other carriers do not have issues.
Wrong....

Hi,
I've had my fair share of using roms in the past on several phones. I currently live in the Netherlands and have a refurbished Samsung SM-G925A from a groupon deal (yeah stupid me I know..). Unfortunately it does not do OTA updates and im stuck on android 5.5.1. (G925AUCU3BOJ7).
If I look at the ATT website it seems I should update atleast to 6.0.1 (sept 20, 2016) first and update step by step afterwards. Is this correct or should I be able to install 7.0.1. directly?
Also, I couldnt seem to find it in the threads, but is there a guide somewhere how to update the S6 using official roms and where can I find these files? Thanks in advance!
Apologies, read the thread more carefully and found the link to downoad the ATT updates and the stock firmware 7.0. Thanks nobarb.
